To say that Arthur was not intimidated by the Dies Irae guild would be a lie. Everything about it was massive, from the guild headquarters, halls, and all of the property that it encompassed. There was so much to the place that he felt like he was going to get lost. Arthur had been guildless for so long now that he had adjusted his behavior for a drifting lifestyle, one that never required him to stay in one place. Hopefully, now, this would change. From what he heard of the guild, there were good things and of course bad things. It was hard to differentiate the bad things from the general prejudice against magic, but from what he could gather sometimes the guild was a bit strict and rather ruthless at times. Arthur was trying to keep in mind, though, that these were rumors and that he was sure they were nice people. Maybe he'd even be able to form a team and actually go on missions with other people he could connect and grow friendships with. All of this was a potential though, nothing for certain. Things could change, this whole endeavor could go wrong. He didn't actually know if any of these people would like him. Joining the guild was probably the biggest gamble he had taken in forever. Leaving security and normalcy to travel to a guild on an island near a town he'd never visited? Sounded like a good way for him to get stranded. Though, could he have been stranded if he had no home in the first place? He had only ever really stayed in magnolia for a somewhat lengthy amount of time, and that was temporary, too, at best.

The trip here was one of the most beautiful things he had ever seen. The boat was magnificent, lacrima and technology combined to create the smoothest sailing Arthur had ever experienced. The food was excellent too, for being cooked by sailors of course, but that was besides the point. For most of the trip's duration, Arthur remained above deck, letting him get a good look over the ocean. And the things he had seen, well they could have inspired many works of art if he had a lick of creativity in his body. It was not unlike Hargeon, in a way, where the sea glinted with sunlight while an annoyance of seagulls polluted the otherwise peaceful soundscape. Arthur wouldn't have had it any other way though, it was characteristically an island escape. And an island escape was exactly what Arthur needed right about now. After that grave encounter in magnolia, he never wanted to step foot in that town again. It felt like the place was cursed, had left a curse on him even. To think that a corpse had managed to wake itself up from the grave just to beg of his help, the thought made him shiver. Not the time, though, to reminisce upon old traumas. This was a time for new memories, and potentially even more traumas to be formed.

Port Amber was nice, if a little quaint. Arthur could tell it was an up and coming town, mostly relying on the business of Dies Irae for its economy. That wasn't a bad thing, though, Arthur though. It gave the place a sense of permanence, it gave the place a sense of civilization that an island getaway definitely needed. The foot in the port was great, fresh seafood and fries a classic meal that the chefs here could cook well. He'd have to return to that restaurant at some other time, he took a mental note of its name. Alongside the restaurant, during his cursory exploration of the guild, Arthur had managed to come upon a nice little garden by the seaside. Equipped with a fountain and bench, it was the perfect location for him to meditate in the presence of Helios. The god had been quite content with him over the past few weeks, even through the darker corpse incident. If anything, the god's reaction couldn't have been anything but approval, as he would have surely heard about it by now if he had done something to displease him. The little garden stop gave Arthur the pause to think. It let him think about the things he would tell his guildmates, what he'd tell the guildmaster, how he'd try to present himself. It was all too much for him to plan out, and the more he thought about it, the less scripted he wanted this whole thing to be. He needed to be genuine with them, and maybe then he'd make a few friends.

Stretching his shoulders and back, Arthur approached the large door to the main guild hall. A monestary of granites and grays towered before him. To be frank, the building was big enough to scare the shit out of him. The only thing as big that he had seen in his lifetime were maybe the cathedrals and buildings of Era. Standing out in the sun was fun enough as is, but that wasn't what he was here to do. Arthur could sunbathe on the beaches later, he came here for a reason that he wouldn't leave without addressing. With the strength (mostly mental) that he gathered in his arms, he pushed the grand door open as he entered into the guildhall's grand archway. The door's creaks and groans echoed out into the impossibly long hallway. Polished stone surfaces covered every surface, save for the long red carpet extended from the door and out into the main throne room. He could see the golden highlights from his position all the way at the door. This is where he'd have to say something, alert his presence to anybody in the vicinity. The last thing he wanted was to be assumed as a thief or something of the sort. One of the mistakes Arthur had made, he realized, was that he was not particularly aware of how the guild recruited in the first place. Licking his lips, his voice carried out with various echoes through the hall.

"Hey umm, I'm a new recruit just coming in here now. Anybody here?"

It was understandable that he missed sight of her. Despite the enormous strength that emanated off of her for those with sensitive sensories, she was rather petite, especially compared to the ornate chair. The woman with pale pink pigtails that called herself one of Dies Irae's Ambassadors was seated on the throne, legs tucked off to the side. She was small enough that her body, even comfortably coiled like it was, only took up about half of the seat. The other half held a stack of important looking papers and a few books with a plate of cake on top. In her hand was one of those books, one in one of Earthland's many other languages. Sivvy was freshening up her fluency in some of the lesser-used languages, all the while nibbling on the piece of chocolate cake. She could never be too prepared for where her missions might take her.

The clone didn't sit there for any haughty show of authority. Sivvy just wasn't that way. Honestly, the lone seat in the middle of all the action of the main hall was simply her favorite place to read. There had been a time when being cooped up in her office doing hers and Johann's paperwork would have satisfied her intense need to be useful, but since coming here, things had started to gradually change. She would always be as efficient as possible with all her duties, but even she needed a break from it. The throne had always been her favorite place to take a break, other than eating the Mess Hall out of food. Could she do this in her spacious quarters? Absolutely, but Sivvy had never enjoyed spending time alone at home. She only used the room to sleep every few days or so, otherwise she was much better served where she was right now. When she wasn't out making short work of Blacklist items, that is. Being a part of the action out in the field would always reign supreme.

Carmine eyes were quick to dart up as someone spoke out into the hall, though she'd been aware of him before he even opened the door. Her slayer senses heard him long before she'd laid eyes on him. What her senses couldn't tell her, though, was his intentions for coming until he spoke. Snapping her book shut, she got up from her seat and quickly strode to meet him. Currently, she was in a formfitting, long-sleeved dress of pure white that cut short right at her hips to allow for thigh-high boots to complete the look. It was decorated with black and red accents, matching the aesthetic palette of the hall and guild in general. "Welcome," she offered, her lips turned up slightly in a polite smile, though it was clear she was the more stoic, efficient type. "I'm Sivvy, one of the Ambassadors here. You are?"

Arthur knew he had sensed another mage when he heard the woman speak in return. The chair had hidden her somewhat, allowing her to blend into the reds and other accent colors decorating the hall. She had just finished up reading a book, and Arthur momentarily wondered if he had disturbed her in any way. Her white dress was sleek and form-fitting, a nice look on the woman if he was being honest. When the woman smiled at him, he couldn't help but offer her a charmed smile in return. The woman was extremely put together, Arthur thought, definitely several leagues ahead of him in terms of availability, but that's not what he was here for, not in the slightest. He was glad to have been somewhat welcomed into the guild already, and not laughed off by the first person he had seen. That probably would have never happened at all, but anxiety was never known to follow rational though.

Holding out his hand to shake hers, Arthur replies. "I'm Arthur Harrington, charmed to meet you Sivvy. Ambassador is synonymous with what position in this guild? Sorry, I should have probably done a lot more research before I came over on the boat, I think I kind of got ahead of myself. This guild hall is really beautiful if I might add, the architecture is amazing."

Nervously, Arthur couldn't help but flick his long brown locks over his shoulder. Noticing his nervous tic, he steeled his hands back at his sides. There was nothing to be gained from presenting himself as a nervous wreck. He needed to be seen as a strong and able mage, he needed to be respected by his peers enough to join a team and forge relationships with his shieldmates and brothers and sisters in arms.

Heels clicked against the floor of the guild hall, the pink haired Sound Slayer making her way towards the entrance, prepared for an upcoming publicity event. She smiled as she saw Sivvy and a new member talking to her. She smiled, coming close. "Welcome to Dies Irae! I see you've already met Ambassador Sivvy, she's a wonderful person here, trust me. An absolute delight to be around, t-though that doesn't mean that anyone else here is any less delightful to be around, I mean everyone is just wonderful and awesome and great and everything, we have a lovely guild here filled with lovely people. All strengths and sizes and magic types, heck even some non mages here, but either way we still have a lot of things here for any sort of training or really anything you want to do! That said, I'm sure Ambassador Sivvy has already explained that. I'm sure you'll love it here and for whatever you want from this guild. On that point, I'm a bit curious why you came here! Trust me, if you don't want to tell anyone or if you want to keep it to yourself, that's fine! But just for a little context on what some of the people here might have, I personally came to Dies Irae because I want to try to make the world a better place, because I think that we need to go out there and sometimes do a little bit more than what's usually expected for people to do in regards to the handling of criminals. The Rune Knights are fine and all, but I think that we have a little bit more leeway to take care of the more serious criminals that are out wandering the world. The Rune Knights are usually a bit busy with the whole 'policing the country' thing for them to really handle a bunch of other stuff and, well maybe I'm a little bit off on the description of it, I'm sure Ambassador Sivvy or Miss West or Ambassador von Weiss can give you a bit more succinct description. They're all much more important people in the guild than little old me. I'm just an Officer here, nowhere near as important Ambassadors Sivvy and von Weiss and Commander Amalie - GAH! I need to always remember, Commander West! Commander West! Not Commander Amalie, not Miss West, Commander West! Anyways, I might be able to just teach you a little bit of some of the more groundwork things here. If you need me to, Ambassador Sivvy, I can give him a tour around the island. Oh! Silly me! I completely forgot! The name's Illya Pegasus, Dies Irae Officer, Idol, Model, and a bunch of other stuff, but first and foremost I'm a member of Dies Irae! How about you?"

Sivvy inhaled to answer Arthur Harrington's question, only to feel it die and be exhaled through her nose in a soft but vaguely annoyed sigh. The polite smile pressed into a more pursed lip as the ambassador practiced her patience, though it was quickly being worn down from the rambling. There was just something about Illya's horribly inefficient blathering that steeped Sivvy's otherwise rarely ruffled composure in pulsating frustration. It was like trying to glean any sort of information from a child with an attention span disorder.

"Illya, maybe you can show him around after I've inducted him," she said a bit flatly, hoping to interrupt any further word vomit so she could do her job, "I haven't explained yet, as he has just walked in," she informed the other pinkette, then motioned to the man. "This is Arthur Harrington. Arthur, in case you missed it, this is Illya Pegasus, one of our officers," she repeated, trying to clarify the mess of everything else. Hopefully his would streamline any further complications.

"In regards to your question, Arthur, Ambassador is synonymous with Guild Master in other guilds. Hopefully that clears up any confusion. And don't worry about your research of us. Relying on rumors will get you a murky vision of what we're really about at best, as many don't understand what we truly do here. We are a legal guild that endeavors to make the world a better place by observing our own moral code and virtues. Order, honor, discipline, and strength make up the bedrock of our actions and goals. The ends justify the means as long as our core values are in place. We protect Earthland from evil and help its citizen in any way we can, sometimes in ways others cannot. Do you have any questions?" Sivvy explained, ending on the question in hopes of discovering if Arthur would be a good fit for their forces.

Arthur suddenly found himself talking to another pink-haired girl, though he hadn't quite caught her name. Quickly clarifying the information Arthur had asked about, the young girl seemed rather energetic, to the point of going on and on. Doing his best to mentally keep up, Arthur tried to focus on each of her words as the tempo of her voice kept speeding up and speeding up as if she was trying to get it out all in one breath. Even with all of his meditation and inner focus, he couldn't keep track of her word vomit. It felt rude, but by the time the woman had introduced herself as Illya Pegasus, an apparent officer of the guild, he had completely forgotten everything she had said. Suddenly, Arthur felt as stupid as a rock as all of her peppy girl's words flew over his head. Gathering himself after recovering from that torrent of speech, Arthur reassured.

"Thank you, really, for that. Uhhh, Nice to meet you Illya, 'name's Arthur. I practice a lot of combat medicine, slay undead - that type of thing, but I'm not quite a model. I think you've got me beat in that regard, although I could never really compare. Is that a natural pink?"

While the woman definitely overpowered him in terms of sheer social presence, Arthur would try to at least charm her if even just a little. It was always good to have options open for networking among other opportunities. Hopefully, the woman had gotten all of her talkative energy out of her system because he didn't think he could take another round of that. Glancing over at the guild ambassador, Arthur could tell she was at least somewhat frustrated by the woman's ditzy rambling. He couldn't blame her, as if that was how she usually acted his patience would probably be tried as well. As much of a saint as he presented himself, he did not have the patience of one. Arthur was glad that the ambassador cleared up the rumors surrounding the guild, as it was his primary source of anxiety. With that out of the way, Arthur smiled freely at the two women before speaking.

"My only question is, when can I start? That honestly sounds similar to everything that I'm interested in and already do. I've done a bit of that sort of thing before I cam here. I used to be somewhat of a mercenary, taking legal job requests from any of the towns I was staying in. It got me enough funding to keep myself afloat but I came here because I've been wanting somewhere more permanent to reside. You guys wouldn't happen to have a library or chapel, would you?"

Illya gave a salute to the ambassador as she said Illya could show Arthur around after the induction. "Of course, Ambassador Sivvy! You do whatever you need to do first, then I can give him the grand tour of the island, or just the guild hall here if that's all he wants." She lowered her salute, offering a smile to the newer member in its stead. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Mister Harrington. I also do a bit of healing here and there, it's really all I can do with my magic. See, I'm a bit new to the whole magic thing and-" her eyes glanced over to Sivvy, immediately shutting her up with a quick, "-well, that's for another time, I suppose. As for what Ambassador Sivvy said about all the rumors, it's definitely something you gotta watch out for. They can get a bit nasty at times, but rest assured, we're a great group! If you're okay with it, I'm fine with joining you for some initial missions - I am an Officer here, after all - but there's absolutely no requirements, so long as you hold up those values Ambassador Sivvy told you about. Order, honor, strength, all that stuff!" The irony of her completely forgetting to mention the discipline was entirely lost upon her, even her subconscious solidifying her lack of discipline. "Sometimes we have to do a bit of icky stuff, but that's all worth it for the betterment of the entirety of Fiore, don't you think? Anyways, it's good to know that you have some combat experience already, since that's already a leg up on how I started off. We always need new helping hands, and if you've already done some work around, that's fantastic! After all, if they could use a completely inexperienced healer like myself, they absolutely can use an experienced war veteran like you. Okay, maybe it's not really a war veteran, but you get what I mean."

She smiled, prepared to begin another long winded speech on what all was present within the guild halls, all the dining rooms and libraries and everything anyone would ever need to know from a new home, but she noticed the expression on the Ambassador's face and decided that perhaps she could try to limit her wordiness. "As for where things are, once the Ambassador gets you all squared away you should be good to go, and if you want, I can show you around the place! Don't worry, if you want to find things out yourself, just say the word and I can head off! Honestly, maybe I shouldn't even be staying to talk, I got a PR event in a few hours, but I can always take time for introducing a new member to the guild! So, as the Ambassador said, if you got any questions, feel free to ask! Everyone's always super helpful around here!" A smile cracked on her face as she gave a look towards the Ambassador as if she were asking if she were too wordy yet again. That was always something the Commander got on her case about.

She still remembered the recital of words the Commander made her do and shivered slightly from it, hoping the others would brush it off as the cold, despite the weather in the air being decidedly warm.

The incessant chatter continued to be annoying, but Sivvy was patient. Well, maybe patience wasn't the term. More like... still learning to feel emotions and hadn't quite unlocked the ones Illya was working on, but it was definitely getting there. The ambassador sincerely wished she would stop so she could quickly get Arthur sorted and go about her own business, but it didn't seem that would be happening. "We definitely have a library. We don't have a chapel within the guildhall, but I believe there is one in town," Sivvy answered his question succinctly.

The pinkette ambassador didn't need to hear any more out of the man standing before her. He seemed like a good candidate. Legal mercenary work and battling against the undead, and most interesting to her, he practiced combat medicine. Dies Irae didn't have many of those. It'd definitely be an asset. Raising her hand, she materialized a small vial of magical sanguine ink. Drawing the liquid out to swirl around her fingers, she looked up into the new recruit's face. "I've heard all I need. Welcome to Dies Irae. I believe you'll make a fine addition," she smiled politely. There was only one thing left. "Please, indicate the color and location you'd like your mark to be. Then you may go with Officer Pegasus for a tour, as I have to get back to work. As long as you don't mind small talk, she can get your situated here."
