Hmh... it had taken a while to find this island, shockingly. Mura had been here before, for it was where he lost his katana. And it was also here where he had his, uh, first date with Mythica... it was a strange day, indeed.

... Wait, was he late? The fuck?

Eireen soon arrived at the island, finding the intense amount of people to be rather dumbfounding.  Sure, the task to head out to Shadow Hunter was open to anyone, but this many people?  Seriously?  Were these people trying to decimate the local population or what?  The reaper wasn't even necessary here to hunt in the first place...

When Ahote arrived on Shadow Island, he didn't need the permission of the Magic Council to be there. When the locals asked for mages on the mainland to help with the monsters on the island, Ahote was happy to oblige. It was a easy way to make money, after all.

Monster Hunting, was it? Truth be told, Mnemosyne wasn't nearly as renowned of a character to be invited out here, but she was quick to catch wind of it. In fact, it may have been a good idea to come for her book. Sorcerers come together to help these people!

"Ahh, Aphi, c'mon, it's not that bad, right?" She waved her hands, trying to get the feline's attention. "Don't be sad!" It was easy enough to say that to her bond mate, but Seika could practically feel the anger and irritation radiating off of her bond mate even without their magical link. It was just, like... an aura around her, or something. Bad vibes! Shaking her head in dismay, the mage tried once again to steal the focus of the feline, who, at this moment, seemed to only have her eyes set on being grumpy for the rest of their trip.

"Aphi, tell you what! Let's get hot cocoa once we get to the island?" While she couldn't make any promises that there would be elk, there had to be some kind of sweet, chocolatey drink. It was a universal type of thing. And if it didn't exist, then she could try to... make it or something with dirt from the ground. Since they were both brown, it should probably work. The only thing was, Seika honestly couldn't be positive that such a concoction would taste as good as normal hot chocolate. She had eaten dirt before, and while it wasn't too bad, there could potentially be some weird stuff in it. For example, little spiders. Those were not good at all to ingest, because they could do strange things. Plus, when there were living creatures involved, it wasn't good to put them in your system! Because they were alive!

Unfortunately, it seemed like her bond mate was not interested in her attempted bribe of hot chocolate. The girl had kind of expected that, but it was still disappointing. She needed a new strategy. Or... she could try convincing the feline using food again, but she had to choose a better option! Thinking rapidly, Seika blurted out, "I'm sure they have elk," only to realize belatedly that no, she could not promise that. But in the end, if there were no elk, she could just create some, right?

There were people hanging around in the forest but unfortunately for them, they had no real answer for the bunny girl and her rage filled summon. Both Rengar and Miranda were filled with such hatred and due to the bond that they had with each other, the feeling was amplified, a constant link that travelled back and forth. They fed on each other’s anger which made them more aggressive. There was no reasoning with them and neither gave the slightest damn about those who they killed. To make matters worse, every single one of them would scream the same thing. That the reason that all of the mages had come was to kill off the wildlife. For them to say such things so casually was horrific to the bunny girl and she used her emotion magic in order to make them suffer as much as possible. Rengar did what she did best and got stuck in with her claws, ripping her foes asunder and loving every moment of it.

They didn’t know where they were going and it didn’t honestly matter as their job was all so clear. Extermination of all the humans. Miranda had always despised them, ever since her mother Medeia had first spoken of them. The witch had spoken of how humanity had ruined the earth, killing the animals and ruining the environment. They took but never gave anything back and that was what drove Miranda so strongly. She couldn’t heal the damage that humanity had caused but she could at least strike, in defence of her fellow animals. It was all she could and the water bunny would continue to do so for as long as she was breathing. She wasn’t powerful enough yet to deal as much damage as she wished to but in time, she would be.

Her breathing was heavy, her thoughts scattered as she sprinted along the path. Yet, the usually stoic woman’s expression was anything but today, instead she wore the look of someone who truly had no idea what to do. Kalama had been so sure, so confident that she was finally overcoming her emotional boundaries and that she would be able to function in a group but the moment that she caught sight of them all, that confidence had disappeared in a moment. The sight of so many people that she did not know had brought a sense of panic that felt like a monstrous punch to her stomach. Her anxiety had skyrocketed to such a high degree that she had leapt off of the boat before it had even reached land and just ran. The worst part? The sense of self loathing that accompanied it for having become overcome so easily. Some warrior she was. She could fight monsters without batting an eyelid but a simple social interaction drove her to almost insanity. Oh, how she hated herself at that moment.

Her anxiety attack was rather unexpectedly interrupted as a plume of flame suddenly came towards her, striking her with such force that she was knocked off of her feet and into a nearby tree. Dazed, confused and unable to think straight, the blonde haired woman’s eyes would blearily look up at her attacker and boy, he was a large one. A lizard of some kind who stood at at least twice her height. Eyes blood red and fuelled with anger, it would unleash a second blast of flame that Kalama could only clumsily roll out of the way of. Her focus was gone and as she clumsily clambered to her feet, her body language was anything but confident. The creature could not have picked a better time to strike.

Aeluri’s attention was abruptly ripped from her annoyance of a mentee and the gold-plated ship when the vessel lurched to the left. She quickly extended feline claws and dug them into the railing to keep herself steady. The few crew members onboard swayed, some falling to the deck.

“Shit! What was that?” the dark woman hissed. Mismatching eyes darted around, looking for the source of the commotion. Again, the ship lurched. On the starboard side, the creak of bending metal and shattering wood pierced the air. Running to the opposite railing, Aeluri peered down towards the destruction. Clinging to the side of the boat was a cursed creature. It was mostly white with purple claws, tail, and torso. Many horned and angular edges protruded from its head and limbs. Cyan spikes rose from its long, lashing tail. Those claws looked dangerous, sharp and long enough to slice someone to pieces like a loaf of bread.

When it noticed Aeluri, the creature narrowed its eyes. The top of its head parted right down the middle in an unexpected mouth, baring its cyan teeth and hissing at her. Spittle shot out at her, hitting the railing just beneath her hands. The gold melted like butter when the acid made contact.

Aeluri backed up. “Louie!” she yelled. “We’ve got company!” This must be one of the creatures plaguing Shadow Island. No wonder they had called out for help from the world. The dark woman backed up further, getting into a fighting stance in preparation for when the creature would inevitably come after her. Shadows from nearby began to take the form of black smoke and funneled in towards Aeluri’s hands, forming large, dark ‘gloves’ around her closed fists.

Beaux had readily taken the job posted by the inhabitants of Shadow Island. Apparently they were having troubles with unusual and dangerous creatures. Many people had been killed already, but the listing had requested that as many mages as possible come to help. Hopefully with so much hired assistance, the inhabitants could be at peace once more.

While he had seen many others taking boats to the island, Beaux wanted to take the afternoon to fly the distance. He loved the ocean views and the air currents above the water would take him much faster than a ship would. It had been a lovely trip so far. The sun had shone on his back and wings, warming the angel against the cool sea breeze. Beneath him, he’d seen a pod of dolphins and even a massive whale! It was amazing.

However, as he neared the island, the skies had grown dark. It wasn’t quite stormy, just moody and menacing. Beaux’s ever-chipper mood had dampened a bit. He became more alert as he approached the island. There was no description of what exactly these spirits and creatures looked like, so he had to be ready at a moment’s notice to fight.

It was a good thing he was prepared, because his first opponent appeared on the horizon as he wheeled over Shadow Island. Out at sea, among the dark clouds, a small hurricane had appeared to touch down. Beaux’s eyes widened as a glowing maw and eyes appeared on the whirlwind. It was a storm spirit, and it was angry. As it caught sight of the angel hovering above the island, the eyes slanted down in apparent anger. He was occupying the skies that this storm spirit inhabited, and it was pissed. The hurricane began to close in on the island and Beaux raced out to meet it. He had to do something before it hurt the islanders and the other mages here!

More people had arrived as the group Clem was near stood on the docks. There was an older guy with grayish hair who was a very important looking person, a ridiculously tall and buff dude, and a young guy with half red and half white hair, among others. There were certainly mages here of all kinds and alignments.

Clem was ready to take her grumpy mood out on some nasty creatures, but it seemed that those would become the least of her worries. Before she could even blink, someone had grabbed her arm and put a handcuff around it. The painter was spun around and found herself face to face with Doppo, the Rune Knight she had tormented during the recent block party event. Clem let out a squeak of fright, too stunned to even form words. She was chained to this angry man, who was now berating her up close. While he tried to keep it quiet, he was speaking right into her ear, and to Clem it sounded like yelling.

Clem pulled away to the extent that the cuffs would allow. She pulled and twisted her wrist frantically, attempting to free herself. However, these were professional Rune Knight handcuffs, so they didn’t budge.

“Shit, shit, shit,” Clem mumbled to herself. She’d done so well in her efforts to not be caught at the block party, and she’d let herself get too comfortable standing among all these mages. Out in the open like that, she was a sitting duck and easy prey. How was she going to get out of this one?

So many people were arriving! Mages of all kinds and appearances joined the group, though some seemed to peel off and do their own thing. Groups were not for everyone. Looking around, Dagda had spotted Percy among the crowds. He gave a wave, but didn’t approach, figuring they might meet up after all the fighting was done.

A group of mages had taken the initiative and headed inland. Dagda followed along, figuring that helping a large group would be more beneficial and efficient. There seemed to be a man taking the lead. He looked important, so most of the people looked to him when the group noticed a massive spire in the distance. The structure stood out quite a bit and seemed to be made of a concrete-like substance. Dagda’s eyes widened. It looked like some sort of giant anthill.

Something off the side of the path caught his attention, turning his focus away from the anthill. Hanging from a tree in the distance was an odd object. Dagda, with a parting glance at the group, took off through the brush to go investigate. Upon closer inspection, he realized that it was a cocoon of sorts. It was bigger than any he had ever seen before. The membrane was rippling and rolling, part of it already split open. Something was trying to make its way out. Dagda raised his fists protectively in front of him, taking a step back. He waited to see what exactly this thing was before attacking.

Whatever the deal was with this group, it hadn’t been what she thought. A mesh of personalities that normally wouldn’t be so bad came with a couple of bad apples and others who seemed to really REALLY not leave personal matters at home. As the seemingly over dressed girl had randomly burst out, it didn’t pass much time by before someone came up behind her swiftly. The sound of cuffs reached the god slayer sears and her attention came right to them. Even her hearing wasn’t keen enough to really tell what he was saying to her, however she seemed to be quite a bit worried about what was going on. ”If you two are gonna continue that, get a room.” She retorted, implying the couple were playing much more mature games in the middle of a very dangerous area. With that, the auburn haired girl managed to try and begin flailing about almost in an attempt to break her cuffs. ”Yeah, no. I’m not staying around exhibitionists.”

Hands up, Lehanna turned her back and walked right off passed the pair of degenerates and headed off on her own. The place couldn’t be THAT dangerous that she needed to worry about it. With that said, she would add a small insult to injury with a small hair flick and then placing her hands in the blazer pockets of her top. Walking past the docks, she paid no mind to anyone or anything going on along the area until she would make her way to an area down the way, seeing smoke and the scent of volcanic ash drawing her in. Because where there’s smoke, there’s fire. And where there’s fire, there’s free food!~ Well, not that it was her main worry, however the brunette was more over looking to get the job rolling whether she do it on her own or with anyone who happened to tag along for whatever reason.

So... where did she go? She could have sworn that she had planned to meet up with Kalama when they arrived. Something about her having unrealistically long naps must have made her want to head off on her own, but what could have made her suddenly vanish. Maybe she waited on the island and Aoi actually had been here by herself. Shaking her head of the idea, the cursed brunette walked along the area trying to figure out where it was that she’d disappeared to. Whatever it was that had been the case, maybe someone else had seen her and would be able to help her out with being able to find her. Then again, Kal wasn’t the most social butterfly, so perhaps a crowd of people hadn’t been the first place to check for her. If she could barely make it through their introduction into the guild so to think a group would probably get her either frightened to death or by best luck she would he able to just ignore them and wait nearby before her.

Perhaps she decided to trail off into the forest. Otherwise, maybe Aoi could just get a little target practice in mind for her bow. Moving further in, she could smell something burning. Rushing down the way she could see through the trees a large creature. As she grabbed hold of the bow, a sharp sense went through her mind and caused her to lose for us for a moment. Shaking it off, she grabbed hold of the string of the bow and pulled back, forming and arrow of dark energies. She released the arrow and then another in a rapid succession after the initial, striking it twice in the chest. Though her attack merely seemed to make the creature stagger. Rushing ahead, the guild officer skid to a stop once she got into the bit of a clearing made by the fire. ”Y’all are really bad at waitin’, ya know that?” She taunted once her mouthguard was pulled out of her mouth, grabbing hold of her bow in preparation for another attack. ”Ready to do this?”

music and sound goes hand in hand,
They're loud and beautiful, just like me.
beware, beware, the music man likes to play

    “She’s dead because of him.”

“He’s a worthless piece of crap.”

    “He couldn’t even save her.”

“She was even carrying his young child.”

“The child wouldn’t have survived anyways with him as a father.”

“Why would she like a whore like that?”

    “He probably bribed her.”

“She should have ran away from him sooner.”

    “He let her die.”

“It was like he wanted her to die.”

The more the insults came at him, the more he felt like he was shaking. He needed to end them. Make the voices stop. He was free. He was fine. They were all lies. Had she really been carrying his child, though? Fuck. He couldn’t breathe. He didn’t like kids. He hated them. But with Yuiisai? He hadn’t thought of that. He shook. No. She couldn’t have been. It wasn’t possible. They were just fucking with him. No way had she been. No. Impossible. He grabbed his head.

The voices were still behind him and he quickly turned around and shouted; “BOOM!” The immediate area that was behind him had been cleared out slightly. Out of the dust and debris, a black creature started slowly crawling out. All along its face were red ovals that mimicked eyes, the same ovals even trailing along the body and legs. Silver spikes were on its elbows and a few spots on its body. Upon its head was appendages that mimicked that of arms with hands, but they didn’t move like hands as they were flopping about. The sharp jagged teeth in a wild grin. Coming from it’s flanks, were two more identical creatures, seeming like they were laughing at him. Their mouths opened and the same voices came from their mouths.

    “He is TRASH!”

She was a gruesome little thing. She almost seemed like a shadowy beast herself, or maybe an undead. In a sense, that's exactly what she was. While her thoughts were groggy but still her own, her body moved on its own looking for carnage, not unlike a zombie. Her footsteps were unsteady. They hadn't been used in nearly a century, and while they would have been mere bones if she'd been the normal kind of dead, they were merely atrophied instead. All her muscles were shriveled from lack of use. Elle was far from a healthy weight, let alone possessing the strength to fight these large monsters Aberneel insisted she 'cut her teeth' on. Still, his command spurred her onward and she killed things her size or smaller in a crude, primitive manner. Her metal arms, while stronger than anything else on her body, were nothing more than clubs. Fine motor skill was out of the question.

Other than when she'd had no choice but to use her powers to protect her town, Elle was a non-violent person. Violence actually churned her stomach and she wondered why her life had ended up comprised almost entirely of it. It'd only been hours since her return, and already her mind was starting to clear enough to be silently horrified. The only good thing was she could bend her prosthetic elbows, though moving her wrists and fingers still proved too much. Strength was slowly returning to her core and legs. Elle still looked like she could use about thirty-four full-course meals, but her blood-stained body was looking more like girl and less like zombie.

Though he was nowhere near, she heard Aberneel's call for her to return as if he'd been right beside her...and though ever fiber of ber being told her to run and escape, her body obediently turned and made straight for the hidden lair entrance.

The high Birch got from absorbing the energy out of foes always set him into a fury. He wasn't sure what about his unfortunate circumstances had ignited this bloodthirst in him, but he was certainly a far cry from the regal, composed Celestial Phoenix he had once been. Now he was beastly, the balance of his magic horribly thrown off so that darkness crept up his arms like flames on an accelerant-soaked branch. The shadows would try to take over his whole body, but somehow he managed to keep his head just above it, as if desperately resisting drowning while also loving the thrill of it.

Melting into the copious snaking shadows of the dark island, he searched for prey. He didn't care who or what it was, as long as it was brimming with life and energy for him to drain. Even better if they writhed, begged, screamed...the stormy hues that peered from the deepest gloom were even sharper and more dangerous than usual. Sadistically searching for the next soul who would fall to him, turning to dust in his palms. It was then he saw it. A magnificent creature showed itself, covered in scales so purple it was nearly indistinguishable from the inky blackness of the shaded forest. More interesting was it the ice it manifested with each lumbering step on its strong, bipedal legs. It was like some giant reptile from days of old, except it had learned to embrace the lack of sun to warm its blood and turned it into its strength.

Ice wasn't a horribly common element. He'd gotten his first taste of it since losing his power from Saraphina, but he couldn't exactly siphon her dry of it, now could he? Every time he came across it, it was just a little hit and didn't satisfy the frigidness of the void of space that he lacked. Surely, this dino behemoth would be a healthy dose. Coming up under the beast, he pulled one of its legs into the shadow to cripple it. He then jumped out of his dark cloak on the other side, swiping at it with his dark claws to try and injure it just enough to keep it still. It was strong, though, and wouldn't be toppled that easily. In a fit of overexcitement and impatience, Birch removed Earthland's gravity from the area they stood, releasing it from the shadow pitfall and watching it float up into the air, confused. It thrashed uselessly...until Birch focused the light of twin suns into a laser of sorts and seared the beasts limbs off. It wouldn't bleed to death, but it'd still be rather loud and energetic while he coiled his claws around its neck and sucked its icy soul right out. Delicious.

Percy did what he did best and observed for the most part, though at some point that went sideways. He'd followed a beefy mage deeper into the forest, watching the strange magic he had. He seemed to work in tandem with another creature. If the man told the small, yeti-like creature to move or attack, he did so without question. Despite the friendly monster's dwarfed size to the man, the man went up against creatures that dwarfed him just as equally! And with a few head butts and ice beams, the duo felled these hostile, gigantic beasts. Percy scribbled notes like crazy, theorizing that their connection and communication must be some form of magic. Perhaps this was something he could acquire? He'd prefer to have all the power come from himself, but he wasn't picky. Magic was magic.

While he was furiously taking notes, he ultimately lost sight of the two. They were nowhere to be seen. No one was, actually. It was dark and he was alone...and there was some pretty heavy breathing at the back of his neck.

    Kessicia

    B Rank

    Dies Irae

    Church of Free Will Priestess

    How had she come here?

Kessicia woke up in what could only be called a hangover. It was a morbid reality she had come to know quite well. Alcohol had become quite the cure for all of the agony that wracked her brain as of late. She thought living as a slave in Desierto had been cruel and unusual and it was, there was very little doubt about that. But having had her life taken from her so cruelly and then resurrected without answers, only questions, she had been in a daze. Old comforts didn’t take hold in her heart and all she knew was confusion, anger and sadness. Sex seemed to mute the agony, especially when it involved liquor. So she sought escape each and every night, after her duties had been fulfilled for Dies Irae.

Yet somehow she had arrived… here, wherever this was. She blinked awkwardly as she stumbled out into the natural world, rubbing her temples in small circles. Every morning she swore that she would find a different means of coping other than alcohol and every evening, she still found the bottle in her hand. Pushing past the ache in her skull, she opened her eyes a little wider to see a figure in the distance. A shorter fuzzy being but definitely humanoid, she believed. Through the haze, it almost seemed like he or she had multi-colored hair. “Excuse me?” she called out, wincing at the sound of her own voice. Gods, was it grating right now. “Pardon me but… where are we?”

    Fwoosh...

With just a light touch, one of the cackling demons had lost all of its colors and turned to ash, falling apart with the lightest breeze, and dying quietly. Pathetically. It was one of the many things a necromancer like Ahote could do. If he really wanted to, he could decay any living thing he touched, turning them into ash and dust with just his fingertips, so that's what he did. He hadn't intended on coming this way into the forest, but when he saw the power that exuded in this area a minute before... he couldn't ignore it. And when he got there and found none other than Baird, a friend of his, he had to stay to figure out what was going on. Ahote made quick work of the remaining demons that harassed Baird, all of them turning to ash as pathetically as the first, leaving nothing but a concerned man and Baird who seemed to be... struggling, right now.

"Baird..." Ahote started, softly, reaching out to attempt to gently grab one of his wrists from his head. It was hard to determine what exactly happened and what he had just walked into, but he couldn't help but overhear the things they were saying to him about someone else. They were truly awful things, and he seemed tormented by their words. In a way, it reminded him of Iris's meltdown a few seasons ago. It seemed as if, one by one, all of the Buzz Killers were losing composure. "You're not hurt, are you now?" Ahote carefully queried, leaning down to look at his face if he would let him.

"I want everyone to attack simultaneously with their strongest ranged attack. We’ll take out as many as possible in one decisive strike", the silver-haired man instructed with a commanding voice. Despite the fact that this group of mages were not Soldiers of Dies Irae, it seemed that something about him had made him a choice for their temporary leader, a position and a king of authority he was familiar and experienced with. He wouldn't pass up the chance if it allowed them to operate as effectively as possible. The man would stretch out his arm, a blade in a similar shape to a lance appearing in his grasp before pointing it at the anthill, the air around him beginning to flicker as he began radiating pure magical energy.

"Ready?", he would ask one last time, giving the other mages a little more time to prepare before finally, everyone seemed to have concluded their preparations. "Fire!". Without delay, a massive charge of arcane force would travel through his blade and coalesce into a single point at the tip of the weapon, a shockwave of flame and heat sending his projectile flying along with those of the other mages, all within a span of seconds slamming into the towering structure and exploding with massive force, the earth around them rumbling witht the impact of their combined attacks. Parts of the structure crumbled down, pieces of it sent flying in all directions. Their strike undoubtedly had been effective, but the man doubted that this would take care of their problem in its entirety.

Sure enough, his intuition was correct. The ground began to rumble once more, though this time, it was somewhat different. Their attacks had obviously subsided already, which meant that ... "Here they come. Get ready!". Almost as if on command, from the ground around them, dozens, if not hundreds of worm-like monsters burst forth, screeching and clamouring with aggressive, beast-like screams.

The Ambassador, though, would begin to grin, his eyes lighting up with a certain sense of glee, a low, deep cackle ringing out as he whispered a few words under his breath.

"Time to have some fun, tssehehe"

"Understood", the Slayer from Silver Wolf would reply in an ever-stoic tone with an underlying Pergrandean accent. She was very much used to taking and giving orders from her time in the Paladins of Pergrande, and she had no qualms or inhibitions about blasting whatever it was that stretched up into the sky of Shadow Island before her into bits. Taking the Iron Key off its chain around her neck, the girl would wait for the signal before leasurely throwing it upwards with a practiced motion of one arm, the key, as if driven by magic, soaring into the sky before exploding with deeply blue magical energy.

The item would dissolve, dozens of spears forming around the magical core from spirals of what appeared like molten metal, glowing red-hot with sheer heat, flames bursting from the weapons. When the man gave the command to fire, Aspen would lower her arm, pointing her hand at the structure, the spears immediately following her command. With trails of flame, they would rain down upon the concrete anthill, dozens of small explosions ringing out as spear after spear the projectiles would hit their mark, exploding in swaths of roaring flame and scorching heat. It seemed like their attack had been more than effective, dismantling the majority of their targets and blowing it to bits through the relentless volley of bombardments. Easy enough. Almost too easy.

The girl felt like she'd jinxed it when the ground began to rumble once more, a large group of massive worm-beasts emerging from the dark earth all around, their wails and screams as they opened their twisted, monstrous jaws sending a cold shiver down her spine. Well, no big deal. Seemed like she had to work for her pay, after all, pulling out another Iron Key and transforming it into a machine gun, the girl would raise the weapon and ready herself for the battle.

    Monster Hunting (A-rank Midgame Grind) - Page 2 H9ZCiY4

The wraith would simply nod, moving the helmet of his armor to simulate the gesture in accordance with what he had observed about mortal behavior. While the silver-haired man certainly wasn't in a position to give him any orders, there was, as far as the wraith was concerned, only one person he would actually willingly take orders from, he agreed that the man's tactic was their best bet if they wanted to get their task done as quickly and efficiently as possible. That was the wraith's prefered way of dealing with situations like this one, after all.

He would raise one arm of the armor, unholy, dark power flowing through the empty extremity before reaching his hand. Within the grasp of the leather and steel glove, a black bow would materialize soon, radiating shadowy, arcane energy. Aiming the weapon, Cassius would get ready to fire, pulling back the string of the bow. Within a moment, a projectile of pure, concentrated shadows would form within the weapon, which, as soon as the silver-haired man gave his command, would be fired with a burst of charcoal-hued sparks of energy and magic, barreling towards the anthill and slamming into it at almost the same time as the other attacks with a large explosion of pure darkness. The air and ground would rumble as a large portion of the structure simply collapsed inward, massive chunks falling and smashing into the ground around it. Perfect.

His ghostly senses, though, picked up more than just the rumble of the tower, the ground beginning to shift and move underneath the group of mages only seconds after they'd hit the tower, a plethora of worms, taller than any of the mages and with monstrous jaws that split open, revealing spiraling rows of teeth, bursting from the cold ground. So it wouldn't be that easy, huh? No matter. Cassius was prepared for a fight. He always was. A single, red orb lit up within the armor, the wrathful echo of the wraith's soul, the bow in his hand being swapped out for a broadaxe with the flicker of arcane energy.

Arguably, yes. It seemed like it was too late to turn back now. The silver-haired man would comment on the structure that had emerged on the horizon, reaching out into the dark sky from the surrounding forest of strange plants. "Woah", Shen would react with more than just a little bit of awe, not having expected something of this magnitude to be on their list. It seemed like the others wanted to lose no time, too, and begin their assault immediately. "Uh-uuhhhhm ...", he would begin, but everyone else appeared like they agreed with the man's words, so he swallowed his criticism. Wasn't it a little too rash to just burst in and deal with everything they encountered by brute force alone? That would be a sure way to get oneself killed, right? Surely, a plan would be beneficial, or were these people that confident in themselves and their abilities? Well ... he'd just have to wait and see, though the coward in him would protest, he was intent on proving his worth and honing his abilities to become stronger. "I-I'll cover you!".

The man's idea wasn't a bad one. Shen would nod, pulling a gold coin from one of his pockets before flicking it upward with his thumb. As soon as it had left the Rune Knight's hand, it would begin to glow with golden light, transforming into an onyx-colored bow that he would catch with his right hand. Readying himself, the officer would begin chanting. "The gaze of the stars, forever set upon this world-". He would wait for the man's command, a lance of burning plasma materializing in the weapon before, with the rest of his chant "-Manifest the wrath of the cosmos!" upon hearing the other's "Fire!", being fired. As expected, the projectile would slam into the structure and expand into a burst of solar energy that burned away everything in a wide radius, reducing part of the structure to nothing more than ash within the blink of an eye. Seemed like their tactic had worked, but ... now they had other problems to deal with.

With an audible "Oh fuck oh fuck oh god oh shit" fromt he young Rune Knight, dozens and dozens of beasts suddenly appeared, burrowing out of the earth around them with their worm-like bodies and massive jaws. Shen contemplated running away now more than ever, but all the other mages seemed to get ready for a fight. He couldn't be the only one to book it, right? Reluctantly, he would raise his bow once more, his eyes gaining a deeply golden glow to them. If he had to fight, then fight he would.

Not long after the young mage from Fairy Tail had arrived here on Shadow Island, the rest of the mages seemed to trickle in one by one, slowly but surely filling the ranks of this expedition. It seemed that every mage who had come here was entirely unique in not just appearance, but also aura and demeanour, Taylor's curiosity overloading her brain momentarily, she didn't know where to go first, who to talk to first, what questions to ask first. It was all so interesting, and she wanted to know everything about everyone here to collect, compile, and apply their combined knowledge of the world and how it functioned. Their viewpoints, their philosophies, their thoughts and dreams, all of them had unique experiences and lives to share.

While the girl was still thinking, however, she would hear the massive explosion in the distance, the bright flashes of flame easily visible against the darkened sky above Shadow Island. That would be the main event, she figured. Completely forgetting about her previous impressions and all the other mages present, she would turn towards the source of light and noise before vanishing in a sustained burst of acceleration, electricity and lightning dancing around her as she ran towards the origin of her curiosity at speed rivaling, and indeed, trumping thunder.
