The little witch let up a scream as she fell to the ground. Honestly, she should have seen this coming. She wasn’t so great at keeping herself on her broom when she got herself distracted. Nanny seemed to cling on to the broom for dear life as it started to fall next to her, and gained control of the magical flying transportation. The black cat sung the broom down and tried to go after Wren, but they were too close to the ground and Wren smacked into a bush instead. With a groan, the short woman lifted her head up. “My glasses almost broke…” She groggily looked up to Nanny and slumped her shoulders. “I’m glad you’re unharmed… my face hurts!” She groans as she sits up slowly.

As she got to her feet, her eyes caught something and instantly she ran to it. “Nanny! It’s bloody fingers*!” She calls out excitedly as she lets her hands flutter around the flower. “It’s so rare in Sailkia! But there’s a field here! Goodness! Nanny! Do you know what this means?! We can make more potions! Or more poisons.” She giggles devilishly as she glanced over her shoulder to make sure no one was there. Reaching into her alchemy belt, she pulled out a pair of plant scissors and collected some of the plant. “That should do it for now. Ready to find more?” She asks as she looks back at the black cat.

The spirit was in full flow, tearing through the undergrowth as though it was nothing, her feline senses locked onto the overpowering scent of her target. Her yellow eyes began to dilate and as she sprinted, she began salivating, the closer she got. Her mind was overtaken by the hunt and Rengar even forgot about her mistress, who was struggling to keep up with her. All that mattered for the moment was reaching her target and as she burst from the forest and her eyes locked onto a yellow haired figure, her anticipation reached its peak and she leapt for it with full might. The force was mighty and before the mage could even cast a spell to defend itself, Rengar was upon it, lashing out with claws and teeth.

Miranda would eventually catch up, annoyed by her spirit's decision to leave her behind but pleased that her hunter had managed to capture its prey. She made no effort to pull Rengar off and simply watched as the large cat set about destroying the mage and a smile would creep across the bunny girl’s face as time passed. There wasn’t much point in trying to stop her huntress anyway once she’d started attacking and so she simply took a seat, while the sounds of the dying mage would ring out in all directions. After all of the blind wanderings the pair of them had taken part in during this mission, they'd finally found a victim.

It was with a sigh that Bastila continued with her work, easily dispatching the large forest spiders that had blocked her path. Her cleansing fire easily burned through their defences and all that she could smell afterwards was the scent of burning flesh and nature. They had attacked her on sight, despite her attempts to not engage them but it had made little difference. So, she had taken the only option to her and ended their lives. Her movements were graceful and yet deadly at the same time, her flames dancing around her as though they were simply an extension of her. Every attack was timed to perfection and the phoenix mage barely batted an eyelid as foe after foe fell to her attacks. She would much rather be on the hunt for her former husband but that was going to have to wait for another day. Today, it was simply about clearing out the forest and making sure that it would be safe for people to explore it in the future. She did ponder about how her precious daughter was doing, knowing that she was around somewhere but with all of the different magical auras, it was difficult for her to tell one from another. Magical energy was in abundance today, from all over the magical spectrum. It felt quite strange to the blonde haired woman but she simply shrugged it off, striking another spider with a powerful flaming fist that hurled it backwards.

Nodding in agreement, Kalama would leave her friend to it and charge at the lizards who were further away. Using her lunar powers as well as her force powers, the blonde haired warrior would dart from target to target, unleashing a dance of death that would keep the monsters well and truly occupied. All of her hesitation and doubt seemed to vanish when in combat and the expression on her face was cold and grim. She took no pleasure from defeating these things although in her heart of hearts, she honestly wished she could. Yet, that was not how it was for her. The curse had robbed her of her positive emotions, leaving her with just a void where they should be. There was no joy, pleasure or happiness, just this mass of anxiety and frustration that she could not get rid of. Damn those bastards for making the deal that had resulted in both her own and Aoi’s situation. She despised them with all her heart.

One of the lizards would manage to catch her with a powerful tail whip, knocking her backwards but she was able to stay on her feet. Annoyed, her body would become encased with a suit of moonlight armour and she would draw a second blade, a weapon of pure ice. Smashing her two blades together, she would then dive back into the battle. Unleashing a powerful double slash that cut the beast clean in two. That being done, she would lunge towards her next target.

"Monsters, Monsters, oh what fun! Working hard and we'll be done!" Cetus sang. The Ego, Dubhar, was currently in the driver's seat so to speak. The rather insane personality had wrested control from Cetus. Persephone's glitching was getting more and more severe if the Egos were able to do so. Since the Ego hadn't done anything damaging as of yet, Cetus was content to sit in the back of his own mind. Once Dubhar slipped, Cetus would pull back control.

The trees around them grew tall. The sun barely pierced the trees. Dubhar snapped his fingers as he walked, letting black sparks fly. Where were all the monsters? He'd all the way out here specifically to hunt beasts of a monsterous quality. Maybe he could make a few. Things changed when they were set on fire. It made them angry, violent. Dubhar quite loved it.

"Pretty voice in my head? Where are all the monsters?" Dubhar asked finally, frustrated. I do not know, oh wise and powerful Master of mine. I do not have thine beautiful eyes to see. He percieved she said. The dark mage scowled even as the trees broke their silent watch. A clearing appeared, filled with huts. Dubhar clapped. "Oh! A city of Orcs! Splendid! Target practice."

That is definately a city, not a hamlet, of Orcs, not humans. Well done, master! Dubhar smiled at the affirmation of his thoughts. He gathered a black fireball in his hands. "Let the party begin!" He cackled, tossing the fireball. The frail huts immediately burst into flame. Dubhar continued to laugh maniacally as he advanced into the village. Maybe this trip hadn't been a complete waste after all.

It wasn't long after that the airship would dock nearby ad Louie would run over to them. Nessa quickly noticed that Louie with a beautiful woman, to whom Nessa would give a polite smile. Nessa wondered if this was Louie's girlfriend, and she was about to be introduced to a beau. Then again she had thought the same about Toppa and that had turned out to be wrong. Nessa's jaw dropped when Louie referred to the girl as a gorilla, the shock clear on her face, so through the window went the possibility of this girl being a love interest. After he continued, Nessa quickly realised this was a teasing nickname - a savage one at that.

"Umm, Hi. I won't call you Gorilla, unless you want me to?" She said with an uncertain smile and a small wave, shooting a disapproving glance at Louie who had draped himself over her shoulder. "These are my friends, Tiphanae and Elgorea, they are Valkyries." Both of the girls behind her would bow politely at the pair. As Louie pulled away and asked her what her purpose with, she turned her attention back to him. "Well I was heading deeper into the island, but I figured I would stroll through town first as a way to gather information on what's happening. I've had trouble on Shadow Island before so I just wanted to be sure it wasn't related to that." She explained.

It seemed like the beasts had nothing more to offer than their numbers and the strength of their jaws, their bite being something that Aspen, admittedly, wouldn’t appreciate getting caught in. Still, as long as she kept a decent distance and continued to take out those worms closest to her it felt like this little threat could easily be dealt with and forgotten. With another motion of her hand, a copy of the Iron Key would materialize within her grasp in a swirl of liquid metal before changing its shape into that of a handgun, the girl wrapping her fingers around the handle of the weapon before, with practiced dexterity, taking careful aim at the closest worm. The slide of her gun rushed backwards when the first round was fired, swiftly chambering the next one, and the next one after that one, too, was fired at the worm, the beast squealing in pain when the projectiles cut through its skin and flesh. It seemed like most of the beasts were easy enough to deal with, the Slayer from Silver Wolf repeating this process a few times, reloading in between her volleys to make sure her ammo supply was always topped off.

Between the 4 of them, the swarm of beasts would steadily grow smaller and smaller, lilac blood, crushed and beaten worm bodies, as well as spent projectiles and weapons beginning to litter the purple grass. Aspen was certain that it would only take them a few more minutes at most to get rid of all of them, and she would be right.

Another worm thought it prudent to charge at the wraith, it’s massive jaws open to bite at and swallow the armored revenant. Cassius, of course, wouldn’t willingly participate in that plan, and as the jaws would attempt to wrap around the armor that he possessed, he would stomp his foot firmly into the beast’s lower jaw while his fist drove into its upper jaw, a distinct cracking sound giving the wraith the indicator that he had countered with enough force to break the monster’s biting apparatus. With his free hand, the extremity still firmly grasping his arcane axe, he would swing the weapon around, the blade digging into the flesh of the creature and separating its head, its large body losing all tension and slumping groundward. Its jaws similarly fell limp, allowing the wraith to simply push the beast aside.

Now it would be time for the wraith to seek out his next target. Breaking out into a steady sprint, the wraith would accelerate, slamming into the side of one of the worm-like monstrosities with his shoulder and throwing the beast off-balance, launching it away and into the ground. The wraith, however, wouldn’t stagger, rushing the beast and bringing down his fist into the creature’s body with a shriek of the beast, repeatedly swinging down on it until the glove of his armor was coated in sickly, lilac blood and the beast remained unmoving. Admittedly, it was a savage way to fight, but the wraith couldn’t quite differentiate between a clean or dirty way to fight, anyway. All that mattered was the kill in the end. How he got there was of little importance.

With his last attack being a critical hit, Shen would spin around his bow, opting for a more precise series of attacks this time and take out single targets rather than a large portion of the swarm. With the majority of the worms dealt with, he would pick off the stragglers and minimize the risk of any collateral damage, setting his sights on another beast nearby, his mouth opening as he began to chant once more. "Breath of the stars-", he would raise his weapon, pointing it at his target as he peered past his bow, "-font of their power-", a long, needle-like projectile of glowing plasma materialized within the weapon as he pulled back the string. With a deep exhale, he would finish the incantation, "-bear their light!" and fire the projectile at the creature with flawless accuracy, the plasma lance cutting through the beast without any considerable effort and digging into the ground behind it. The beast, of course, wouldn’t survive the attack.

Without much warning, however, 5 worms would suddenly burst from the ground near the young Rune Knight, swarming him from one flank. The jaws of one worm would already unfurl, threatening to wrap around Shen, though the Rune Knight was faster, much faster than the worm, easily dashing out of the way of the attack. Bow in one hand, the young man would raise the other hand, palm directed at the worms. "Breath of the stars, a power to shatter space. Scorching winds, burn the world!" , with a swift incantation, he would release a burst of burning solar winds that pulsed out from him, burning the worms to ash and scattering them into the winds.

“Swarm’s pretty big, don’t you think, tssehehe”, the deep cackle of Mars would echo through the Ambassador’s mind, his eyes darting across the somewhat open grassland and the edge of the forest off to the side, more and more of these worm-like beasts bursting from the ground with shrill, agitated shrieking sounds. “It would seem so”, he gave back in a calm, proper tone. The numbers of this swarm, even though they would probably present a danger for the average person, and even some mages, certainly, were not in the least alarming to the God of Ishgar. Individually, it seemed that these creatures were exceptionally weak and had no special characteristics about them. This little confrontation, the skirmish with the horde of monsters would be nothing more than clean-up duty, to put it simply.

He would look around. It seemed like the small group of mages that had joined together in the pursuit of a common goal had already dealt with most of the swarm, though a few dozen stragglers were still left and continued to show no signs of retreat or giving up. He had to admit, if nothing else, these things were fierce. “Time to finish the rest of them”, the silver-haired Rune Mage concluded, unwilling to spend more time dealing with this onslaught of monsters than really necessary. He would raise his voice, his words echoing across the clearing as he lifted his sword, pointing the weapon at the sky. “Close your eyes, everyone”. On command, a bright flash of light would pulse out from his position, the bright glow filling out every nook and cranny. Without delay, the remaining worms would be scattered to smoldering ash, the light leaving the fellow mages unaffected.

Taking a deep breath, the girl from Fairy Tail would let magic course through her body, one magic circuit after the other activating as it was supplied with arcane energy, transforming the mystical power into pure electricity. Arcs of lightning danced across Taylor’s form, the voltage that she stored within her circuits increasing exponentially with any given second. It really wasn’t rocket science. Using her circuits to calculate the casting process in the most efficient way possible and allocate precisely the amount of magical energy needed to have her circuits perpetuate the generation of electricity ad infinitum. It allowed her to release potentially limitless amounts of power on demand, and as such, she’d quite quickly raised the level of her actual combat capabilities. Not to mention the fact that the element made her incredibly fast and her favored weapon was quite receptive for this type of magic, which seemed like the connection of a few lucky coincidences. Perhaps it was simply theoretical knowledge and a bit of talent.

Either way, her head had to remain in the situation at hand. Mura was busy slicing a nearby worm in half, seemingly with a similar lack of effort. It was to be expected. He was a guild master, after all, and as such Taylor assumed that he was a more than capable mage and fighter. Perhaps she could learn a thing or two by sticking around. Drawing her sword and letting all of her stored electricity flow into the blade, the weapon would begin to glow red hot, flames sporadically bursting from it as the air around it was ignited with the ever-present hum of electricity, the girl turning her attention to a nearby worm.

With extreme speed, her form would blur, reappearing before the creature and, with a set of movements so quick that it was impossible for most living beings to perceive them with the naked eye, with the velocity of lightning turning the beast into sliced and diced worm. “Phew. These really aren’t too hard to deal with!”, she would exclaim with a grin and relieved tone.

Taylor’s sword began to glow from all the magic channeled into it, heating up to absurd levels and releasing more distortions of electricity. It was a steady form and style that she possessed, but damn, was she ruthless in her assault at the worms. The view of ruthlessness that he saw wasn’t something that he would associate with someone with rays escaping their faces like her, but her attack appeared unstoppable.

And she didn’t stop, so neither would he.

He bent over to avoid a swing from a new worm’s end that was slung about, and he just cut off its rear end and ended its attack with a huge backfire. With that one cut, it bled to death quite quickly, but others were showing up from beneath their feet. One worm appeared nearby, and Mura tightened his grip on Harusame as he was about to charge, but BLITZ!

Taylor cut through the imagery like a raijū, slicing the worm in two right in front of the shaman. Apparently, they weren’t that huge challenges to her or to him, but they were numerous… and he could prove it. “Not when they don’t have us outnumbered,” he commented to her remark before clapping the ground underneath his feet with both hands. A magic circle faded in and out of view, and the earth began to just open up holes where the worms had been digging around underground. They were pushed up by the earth itself, exposed by Mura’s magic and fully hostile… about 7 more worms around them.

    “Try and watch this…!”

Mura flicked Harusame around like he was dancing, not really hitting anything but still standing in the midst of the horde. Swift waves of pushed air could be seen escaping the blade, but the worms were still advancing. Only when Mura’s dance was done and he sheathed Harusame again - on the very moment the handle of his ninjaken hit the scabbard - did a wave of immeasurable slashes expand around, surrounding Taylor but only cutting through 3 of the worms around. The targets laid killed revealed the lack of regard for the distance, for Mura’s attack wasn’t any ordinary expansion of magic akin to an explosion.

    Michael Brooklyn Morgan "Red Alert"
    Monster Hunting

“I’ll be using this.” He said as he used mental commands in his pseudo magic to summon his Sonic Eagle armor. Red hexagons appeared around him, and the pieces of armor protruded from them. Core, Armor, Wings, and Pads. All of them stuck themselves to ports found all over his exosuit and to each other, assembling them without a hitch. Without hesitation, he activated its propulsion system to hover himself up in the air and flew straight towards where the spire was.

He was a few hundred meters up in the air when he found himself being under attack by harpies, with several feathers raining down on him. Perhaps these are the monsters that need to be exterminated? He thought. Scanning through his surroundings, it would seem that another battle was held here, evident from the flash of light turning the rest of the monsters to ash. He focused his attention towards the harpies, outnumbering him from 1 to 20. This is a perfect opportunity for him to set off some fireworks. “Prey seeker program, initialize.” He muttered, “Targets located. Spatial configurations, optimized. Talon Warheads, ready.” With preparations in place, it was time for him to unleash hellfire.

“Prey Seeker Barrage, fire!” Several small missiles appeared from behind his wings, launching themselves straight towards its intended target. The harpies, though seeing this coming, tried to get away from the attack. But with the guided missiles unrelenting in their pursuit, they managed to catch on and, on hit, exploded, taking down several other harpies. Several more tried to get away, but the missiles were faster. It resulted in an explosive fireworks display, albeit a little too smokey and with guts and blood raining from the sky instead of beautiful and colorful sparks.

"The locals sent out a request for mages in Fiore to do some population control of the island's wildlife and monsters. A lot of people showed up for the jewel. I'm here to provide first aid and to study everyone's magic," Percy explained in an understanding whisper, this stutter thankfully disappearing with the quieter sound. While she was still a woman, she was just a confused and hungover one. Surely he could help her. His hand dug out a bottle of water and a bottle of pills. After checking the label to make sure he had the right one, he held them up in a more presenting way. "Would you like to take something for that? Both of these should help with the pain..."

Whether she took them from him or not, he'd still begin his light questioning. "If you didn't come here on purpose, any idea how you might have gotten here? Can you teleport yourself? Or were you drinking with someone who might have accidentally teleported you?" Percy asked. He'd like to think he was just trying to help her, maybe solve some of the mysteries, but he was a little more selfish than that. Studying the mages' magics was one of the main reasons he was here, after all.

Despite his curiosity, Percy's eyes wouldn't linger on the afflicted lady. No, his discomfort was still pretty obvious as he looked around, trying to play it off like he was watching for danger and not awkwardly searching for a place to rest his eyes.

Post by Katsumi 11th October 2020, 5:50 pm

Katsumi ran a whetstone over her blade. The edge had dulled over extensive use. Chips marked the length of the weapon. She'd need to see about requisitioning one from the armory upon her return. Going into battle with a weak blade nearly always guaranteed it would break when you needed it. The rasp of the whetstone relaxed her nerves. Even if it broke, she'd jam the jagged end into her enemy.

The boat bumped into a beach. Katsumi leapt over the side and stored the whetstone. Time for some hunting. The swordswoman hoped to find a few answers here. A recent mission had revealed a criminal organization using altered animals for crimes. Murder ran rampant to keep the connections under wraps. Maybe the monsters here would provide more clues. Failing that, she'd bring this investigation to her superiors. EC had some brilliant minds but they weren't the best at police work sometimes. SO could probably track down these bastards.

Something growled from the nearby treeline. Katsumi raised her blade. "Let the Quest begin!" she murmured under her breath. A lupine shape charged forward. Nothing strange about it unfortunately, besides its massive size. Katsumi didn't let that deter her. She stepped forward and dropped into Arashi Style Stance One. The monster howled viciously. Katsumi barely let a smile grace her lips. She flowed around the monster, slashing its side. It crashed into the sand, writhing. Katsumi spun, stepping into the second Arashi Style Stance. The blade flashed twice. The monster fell silent, its heart and brain pierced through.

Aeluri returned Louie’s sneer with a scathing glare of her own. She turned to Louie’s friend, who was introduced as Nessa. “Aeluri is fine,” she replied dryly, returning Nessa’s wave with a slight nod. She seemed nice, which the dark woman found surprisingly refreshing. Too much time had been spent with her insufferable mentee today, to the point that she was even glad to have another person there. Every time he called her ‘Gorilla’, she grit her teeth and reminded herself of the money. It was worth the price she was being paid to put up with Louie.

Nessa introduced the women with her, who apparently were valkyries. Aeluri looked them over curiously as they bowed to her and Louie. This type of mystical being was new to her. They were certainly pretty. She wondered what kind of magic they were capable of.

“So, Louie,” she began as the white-haired woman stated her purpose on Shadow Island. “How did you meet Nessa? Ooh, is she a secret lover you haven’t told me about? I’m hurt.” A pout, then a shit-eating grin crossed her face. It seemed Louie and Nessa were close, he didn’t treat her with the same level of irritating smugness that he treated others. Aeluri wanted to add a dash of discomfort to the conversation to irk him. He’d annoyed her enough today, it was time to return the favor.

Masha stepped through a portal. A list was crushed in her fist. Different monsters filled the paper. Research materials for various procedures she wanted to start. If she could find a way to give people animal abilities, she might give some people hope that magic wasn't the only way. For some reason, leveling the playing field per say was a desire that gripped the redhead. She hoped that by pursuing it, some of her memories would return.

Aodhfin stepped through the portal as well. His humanoid form was wreathed in flames. "This is a bad idea. I don't think your memories will return if-" Masha chuckled at her best friend, cutting him off. "I still need to try. My memories connect me to my past. I want to know who I was and from there learn who I want to be." Aodhfin opened his mouth but the redhead shook her head. She used her magic to dismiss him. While the phoenix meant well, Masha didnt want to hear it. She needed this. Something to hold on to that didnt make her feel like she was floating in the wind.

Masha didn't let herself keep down the train of thought. There were monsters to hunt. Procedures to create and study for. The world since her amnesia was like an oyster. Rediscovering it all once again through fresh eyes. She was excited to see these monsters. Masha skipped across the sand, ready to begin her adventure.

Bubbles swirled around Beaux as he cracked his eyes open under the water. It was hard to see anything around him as the murky depths were made darker by the overhanging clouds in the sky. However, he was able to tell where the surface was by the minimal light filtering in. Pumping his arms and legs, he swam to the surface with conditioned movements. In school, he’d been a fairly good swimmer, enough to make the team for one season.

Breaking the waves, Beaux flicked wet silvery hair out of his face and spat water out of his mouth. Looking around, he realized he was right near the bottom of the storm spirit. Its swirling winds whipped his face, making him squint. Diving beneath the surface once more, he swam under the spirit. Where its powerful winds contacted the water, it caused turbulence beneath the surface. However, he noticed that there was an eye to the storm, a spot in the middle of the disturbance that was calm. Swimming towards it, he broke the surface once more. The angel was in the center of the creature.

With some struggle, he managed to get airborne once more. Water fell in droplets back to the ocean as he flapped his way upwards. At the heart of the spirit was a sort of lacrima that spewed light and magical energy. With a look of determination on his face, Beaux shot towards the magic. Plucking it from the air it was suspended in, he tucked his wings in and dove down towards the ocean again. Perhaps if he could sever the connection, the spirit would cease to cause destruction.

It takes grace to remain kind in cruel situations

"N-No, that's okay." Ling insisted, holding the tips of his fingers up to his nose where the blood streamed, pressing down his the upper half of his upper lip in order to blockade the flow, waving his other hand as it to deter his friend from assisting him further. "This is a lot... a lot more important than a nosebleed! S-So—"

Before Ling could finish rambling on about ignoring his little nosebleed, he was interrupted mid-sentence by the sound of two feminine voices. They looked like twins, identical-looking by not quite, with both of them having a few defining differences in their appearance. One of them rushed over to Ling with an air of concern around her, while the other trailed behind a much slower pace and calmly asked what was happening. Ling already had trouble speaking in complete, unbroken sentences to Pimwadee, and couldn't look most people in the eye without becoming a soft, anxious puddle of a sorry excuse for a man. So, needless to say, when that one girl rushed over to him with such a strong concern, Ling went pale.

"N-N-No! I'm p-perfectly fine...!! I'm NOT bleedi... bleeding! I—uhm—we have... we have s-somewhere... to... to...! Uhm..." Ling fumbled over his words like a broken record, the panic in his voice unraveling itself like a candy wrapper. When the girl was beginning to get too close for Ling to continue functioning at an intelligent level, the bashful blonde gingerly snagged Pimwadee's wrist and began practically running away from those two girls. He wasn't even thinking about it! "I'm sorry! So sorry! Sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry...!" Ling repeated vigorously, his eyes and body trembling like he was on the verge of tears because of that stress. He never actually cried, though.

He just wasn't very good at socializing at any degree.

"What? No!" Louie flinched when Aeluri made a jeering comment about the possibility of Nessa being his secret lover. He wasn't quite sure why it made him so upset, but something about it coming from Aeluri's mouth made it so unbearably irritating coming from her. Shortly after the obvious dent in his composure, he regained some of it with a shit-eating smirk to combat her own. "Oh, but you would be hurt, wouldn't you? Jealous? You want me that bad?"

And such was the state of their relationship—a test of patience between the pompous blonde and the sharp-tongued mentor. Most of their conversations consisted digs at one another and were only sometimes productive. Meanwhile, Louie's attention returned back to Nessa, who seemed only to be down here for investigative reasons, which wasn't anything new for her. She did seem like the type to do things thoroughly and properly, after all.

"Is that right? Well, enough of this back-and-forth. Let's go." Louie glimpsed at women in his company and began walking ahead of them into town. He wasn't entirely sure where he was meaning to go, but as soon as he saw Nessa down below, he lost all interest in the original point in coming here. Slaying monsters would most likely end up as a byproduct of this joint endeavor anyway. On the bright side, it was amusing to see his petit porcelet and brute interact, since their personalities were such polar opposites.

May the bridges I burn light the way.

Well, whatever happened to her would simply have to happen. It didn't make much of a difference for Juuya to sit down and watch it unfold, but time was something he didn't have the luxury of wasting right now. Maybe Clementine would find her way out of this fix, or maybe she'd rot away in prison like so many others. Whichever the case was is something Juuya wouldn't have known until later, but the contact he was supposed to locate was something that simply could not wait. So, carelessly, he glimpsed at that pitiful pair one last time before making his exit from the vicinity.

While hopping from branch to branch, Juuya saw a number of people doing the job they were sent here to do—killing monsters. It wasn't anything surprising, but it was always a little captivating just how immense and humongous these monsters could sometimes grow to if you let them live long enough. Their strength alone wasn't anything to write home about, but it was at least understandable why people sent out for mages to come here in the first place. If Juuya had it his way, he'd capture some of the beasts and let them roam free in much more urban areas of the nation. At least then there'd be some real havoc instead of whatever organized expedition this was.

Well, whatever, thought Juuya, letting the wind whip through his charcoal hair as he glided from branch to branch, I'm not here for any of this anyway.

Regardless of Ling's remark, Pim would grab a tissue and pass it to the guy in hopes that it would be useful in stopping the flow of blood. Genuine worry washed over the guys face, was Ling perhaps sick? It occurred to Pim that if this was the case then maybe they shouldn't continue with the task and instead seek some medical attention. The last thing she wanted was for her friend to push himself too hard and end up in a seriously poor condition of health.

The approach of the twins would also draw Pim's gaze, who had arrived suddenly out of the blue. The adorable small girls would eye the pair before showing concern over Ling's bleeding - an understandable reaction in Pim's mind. Pim returned her gaze to Ling who only appeared to quickly become more flustered. Barely able to get his words out, he would fumble unintelligibly whilst Pim looked him over with uncertainty. Suddenly his fingers clasped around the tanned woman's wrist and she was pulled after him. Stumbling as she barely managed to catch her feet, they would sprint away. All the while Ling cried his apologies to the girls and proceeded to leed Pim away from the pair. Pim didn't know what was going on, but in the end, she chose not to question it. Whatever Ling's reason for running away was, she was sure it was necessary.  Instead, she decided that she would follow him, because well, that's just what friend did.

He was a pretty skittish looking thing. The girls shot a glance at the soft looking boy who was receiving some treatment from the tan skinned woman. He was kind of banged up but nothing that would require any kind of intervention on a doctor's part. Jellisha smirked, reminded of that time when her sister had run headfirst into the knife grass on a job and got entangled for a solid minute and a half before getting up with more cuts than a slice of bread. "You're fine, huh?" Jellisha repeated, furrowing her brows. "You look like a lot and things, and fine definitely isn't one of them. Afraid is definitely topping that list though." A light bump from the edge of the scanning device came to her side as the wielder behind it gave her a dirty look. "Stop being mean. Look, you're scaring him even more." Just as Grappa's hand had waved over towards the two, the twins were eager to see the outline of Ling and his companion, currently racing away from them at top speeds. A moment was shared at the two as their mouths could only stand agape. After a few seconds, Jellisha would break the silence and point at the silhouette of the boy. "D-Did he...That guy just kidnapped that girl who was helping him?! We gotta go after them!" She looked to Grappa and they both shared a nod before holding their gauntlets to the sky, reaching out to extended a hidden antennae towards the top and hitting a button on the screen.

In an instant, there came a glint of steel as GOLIATH would come careening down towards the ground, propelled by the rockets as the top hatch containing the seats for both girls would open prematurely. The girls would wait until their metal companion would draw closer and then leap into the air at the final moment as the top of GOLIATH angled upwards to catch them upon landing. Grappa slid the screen back into a hatch on the interior and with an audible click, two sticks would come out from a hidden box down beneath. "This will get us all caught up in no time!" Grappa cheered, holding onto her seat as Jellisha would pull back on the sticks, the magic furnace roaring in response. With another toothy grin that only a Sinclair could give, the hulking robot would take off in the direction that the man had fled with his friend. The twins were skeptical of that had any idea of what could be going on in the island, but they were the closest thing to a lead that they had gotten.

Thankfully, Althea’s wishes for even more squirrels to face off against was soon met.  She was given the impression that the carnivorous creature’s territory was rather large by the rate at which their scent intensified the deeper she walked into their neck of the woods, but it was good that they had the numbers to detect her immediately!  Shadows darted overhead, much faster and nimbler than any regular squirrel had the right of being.  And from the looks of it, there were… hmmm… five?  It was a welcome increase in opponents compared to the single squirrel from before.  The blonde just hoped that this encounter would be more engaging than her previous one.

Staying true to their aggressive nature, the squirrels began their attack first.  Three squirrels swooping down from above at a rapid pace.  It was nice that they had some degree of intelligence-- enough to coordinate the attack.  That just made it all the more fun for Althea to slaughter them.  Humming lightly, the slayer used her hands to make a gun-like gesture, pointing her fingers at two of the approaching rodents.  It was then that a thin yet dense stream of water was shot at them, creating a hole in the dead center of the rodents’ foreheads.  Sidestepping out of the trajectories of the squirrels, both alive and not, she simply swatted the last remaining one out of the air.  And that left her with three squirrel corpses, two having drifted into some nearby undergrowth while one was a disfigured mess sprawled across the grass.

Clem’s barrage of swearing and insults seemed to have little effect on Doppo from what she could tell. He continued to drag her further onto the island despite her protests. She was tempted to try to take out his knees with a kick, but decided against it. They were attached at the wrist, so whatever happened to him would likely have some sort of effect on her too. Clem grumbled angrily to herself, forced to resort to walking with her hands at her sides. She couldn’t even cross her arms! Ugh.

“I know my rights, I heard that speech before,” she retorted with a scowl. “Jus’ cause I’m in Errings Rising don’t mean I’m some kinda fool.” He seemed exasperated, which Clem took as a small victory.

“You tryna get better at talkin’ with people you arrest?” Clem replied with a laugh. “You probably just gonna throw me in jail, so you just usin’ me to talk better? Figures,” she scoffed, pouting angrily at the trees they passed. Why did she have to be stuck on this stupid island?

Silence fell between them as they walked, and Clem took a chance to look at Doppo more closely. When he wasn’t screaming in her face, he actually kind of looked like a nice person. Her distrustful instincts screamed at her to focus on the situation at hand, but a thought struck her mind. Doppo seemed like the kind of person her sister would like. Ammi was always more kind than Clem, the little girl would latch on to anyone and made friends within minutes. She'd always told Clem to be less prickly.

Torn, Clem stared hard at the ground beneath her feet. “Clementine,” she muttered, against her better judgement. Ammi better be damn happy, wherever she is.
