It had taken a while due to the confusion around Raven, but it appeared that the dancing had now truly and well begun. Music was playing, and couples and singles alike were on the dance floor, either going with the more commonly seen dancing styles or showing off their own moves. That man the Guild Master of Sabertooth had dragged off onto the dancefloor, who Akeya by now had heard being called Frederik, the one who in the past had been the Guild Master of Savage Skull, and had caused a lot of pain to both Fairy Tail and Blue Pegasus, had at first given the impression that his appearance would only help make matters worse, had in fact by Raven's deft and quick hand helped make the event more likely. The half dragon certainly was impressed by how Raven had managed that.
If only now she herself didn't have to deal with somebody who wasn't so easily dissuaded from being angry at Frederik. Akeya wasn't so stupid as to not realize how Akryn could be so determined to assault the man: he both had a personality which would make most people want to hit him, and even if he didn't his past already spoke for him. However to make Akryn go straight into cold fury rather than his normal flaring rage was another impressive feat. Akryn wasn't even part of Blue Pegasus back then when Frederik had destroyed it. Akeya hadn't been either, and honestly she just didn't feel the need to treat the man as a personal enemy. He had done monstrous deeds in the past, sure, and he most likely could never be forgiven, but until he once again proved himself a true monster, or she was given the task, she wouldn't raise a hand at him.
So what reason Akryn had to hate the man that much, it wasn't because of what had happened to Blue Pegasus. It also couldn't be related to Fairy Tail: Akeya had checked, and Akryn had originally been registered in the morally ambiguously legal guild Eclipse Soul. Well, morally ambiguous might be unfair. The guild was known for taking in former criminals and helping them redeem themselves. Which begged the question why Frederik hadn't joined that guild instead, if he was a former Dark Guild Master. Regardless, Akeya had never really been able to figure out why Akryn had been in Eclipse Soul of all places, but at least she knew that whatever hatred he had for the man who had been given the honour of the first dance with the Guild Master of Sabertooth, it was more personal.
Which just served to make this even more difficult, although Akeya mentally scoffed at Akryn's speech about what he was planning to do. She was too used to being the one explaining how she would commit murder in a calm tone of voice to be frightened by his impromptu display of also possessing that skill, and if you took away the polite way that he talked it basically translated into 'I believe that Frederik will always remain a monster and should be removed from this world.' Although the part about justice was, of course, nonsense. Justice was not something you could do when gripped by anger. Which Akryn without even the smallest glimmer of a doubt was. He sounded calm, but she recognized the signs of somebody whose mind was engulfed in the blizzard of cold fury. She also recognized when she most definitely shouldn't listen to Akryn's demand: her hand kept its firm grip on Akryn's arm, and he should know that as strong as he was, he didn't have the benefit of dragon blood flowing through his veins. He would have to actually fight her to try and make her let go when she didn't want to, because he didn't possess the physical strength to simply pull himself free.
Before Akeya got to retort, however, Zack appeared, who had noticed that something was up. Which was a good thing, because the half dragon got the feeling that the only way she could make Akryn stop doing what he was planning to do was to just keep holding his arm. The entire night. Without a single break. Which was not on her list of interesting ways to spend ones time at a ball. Sure, they were technically partners here, so they would be sticking around each other anyway, but she didn't like the idea that her movements would be limited because she constantly had to make use of the fact that Akryn wouldn't actually attack her to physically keep him from attacking somebody else instead. Somebody who would most likely kill Akryn if he tried. Frederik was a lot more powerful than either she or Akryn, and his past made it clear that he wasn't that reluctant about murder. Well, as a member of Sabertooth he might refrain from actually finishing Akryn off. He did seem to care about his Guild Master, from the way he had acted when she had dragged him off to the dance floor, and then when they danced together. Or otherwise he'd be intelligent enough to know that even if Akryn attacked first, their difference in strength was too high for him to claim that he couldn't have deflected the assault without killing him, and killing somebody when he didn't have to would most likely make it nearly impossible for him to remain known as a legal mage instead of a criminal. And there were too many powerful mages around for him to get away with that kind of thing.
As Zack spoke to Akryn Akeya noticed that he basically was saying the same thing as she had been planning to say, up to and including the fact that if he really wanted to get to Frederik he'd have to go through her. She hadn't wanted to come here, and only came here because Akryn pushed her to. However now that she was here she wouldn't let her team leader ruin the night, the entire reason for this event, and the image of Blue Pegasus, just because he was so deadset on killing this one man. Akeya wasn't a fanatic about upholding the law, justice, and all those things, but she was a practical person, and besides of that disliked stupid decisions. If Akryn killed Frederik now he wouldn't be hailed as a hero. He would be seen as a murderer and a liability. Somebody who would use an event meant to promote peaceful interactions between legal guilds to fulfil his own desire for revenge. He had just as much to lose from doing this as Frederik if the former Dark Guild Master decided to kill Akryn in retaliation. Even more so, Blue Pegasus would no longer be trusted. Word would spread that one of its members did the equivalent of breaking a peace treaty. Which in extension would make life harder for all the Pegasii. Which happened to include Akeya, who wasn't really excited at the prospect of dealing with the aftermath of Akryn's inability to swallow his hatred.
After Zack finished his explanation of how he would not allow Akryn to continue with his plan the half dragon also spoke up, tightening her grip on Akryn's arm slightly to let him know that she was still here, and that he couldn't just ignore her.
"We all must pay for our sins some day, but you are not the one who decides when that time has come. You may feel like you are only doing what justice demands that you do, but if you calm down and consider it again you would realize that doing this would not only make all the authorities and other legal guilds label you as a treacherous murderer, but it would also cause harm to the rest of Blue Pegasus. You can try and kill him any other time, but the sole reason that you have the opportunity to do so today is because this ball guarantees Frederik's safety from those who, like you, would seek revenge. So, if you really want to kill him, and there is no other option for you, you can do that some other time, but not today. Today you will have to accept that we are here to help improve the relationship between guilds. This most certainly includes Sabertooth, the guild which has taken Frederik in and which is hosting this event. And regardless of what you might believe, they would not appreciate your deeds. You would also not like it if somebody crept into our guild hall in the middle of the night, and killed me in my sleep because of crimes I committed in the past. You can now either decide to calm down, or you can try to take both Zack and I on, causing a commotion that would get you removed from this place before you even got within ten feet of your target."
This entire speech was delivered in the same even, calm, and serious voice. And a voice which also made it very clear that Akeya was not joking, or lying, or appreciated Akryn's attitude. The image of a giant dark dragon still hung around her, and even if it didn't intimidate either Zack or Akryn they would still both be able to understand what it meant, just as much as her glare, strong enough that her blindfold might as well not exist: she wasn't amused, and the main reason that she hadn't already lashed out was because her ability to control herself was like steel. In short, the half dragon would most certainly without any hesitation try to knock Akryn out as quickly as possible should he not heed her and Zack's words.
