    A Groundkeeper's Duty [Private] Empty A Groundkeeper's Duty [Private]

The night sky had pulled up over the vast plane and the stars were up. Clear as ever, there was not a cloud in this dry region. Flora and Fauna were quite hard to find out here, especially because of the flatlands that surrounded the kingdom by far. Only to the north there was a mountainous region that was much MUCH further than what it seemed like. There, the weather was slightly unstable. But down in plains it was mostly clear skies, consistent cool weather and an occasional drizzle.

As his eyes mustered the different celestial bodies noticing the different constellations, Lyserg had shifted his attention from his surroundings up above. The guild had not gotten a groundskeeper yet. As such, he had to substitute for that. Making daily rounds, usually at night when most of the members were already asleep or resting for early tasks Lyserg was checking around the entire city to see if there was anything unusual. Of course, there wasn't anything, but this was about protocol and caution.

Passing by a series of houses he stopped for a bit. This entire house block had been built by a single blacksmith back then. It was an iron goods shop in the early days, the blooming days of this kingdom. Remembering faces, customers and how flourishing the business was when iron became the number one import and export. Interesting enough, none of the old stories had left any marks on this place. None of the houses carried dents or markings that might explain the history or give a hint that this place had a past of glory behind it.

Touching the old stone walls Lyserg felt a sense of nostalgia. Not that it bothered him. Nostalgia was a good thing. Letting himself wallow in it for a moment, he turned around. The street was empty. His hand brushed off the wall and dropped to his side. The shadows didn't seem to hide anything. But there had been a fickle sensation of something. Following his intuition, he went down the street, tracing the edges of the roofs meaning that there had been something up there. Then, at a specific block, he stopped. Taking in a deep breath, he could feel something, or rather, someone.

The full moon had caught Rachael's eye at some point not too long ago, prompting her to stare at it curiously. The air was clean, the sky without the blemishes of clouds, and the feel of a gentle breeze against her skin made the doge shiver. Yet... something was off. Something familiar. With a sigh, she turned around and looked over the edge of the rooftop she was standing on. She could feel it, the powerful aura of the guild master. She had felt his power once with her sensory abilities, and she immediately felt the distinction in power. There was something off about it too, making the guildmaster's aura feel even more strange to Rachael. He certainly wasn't normal. It was like... he was old. Her mother had a similar feeling, but it wasn't nearly as strange as this. Was this what magic felt like hundreds of years ago? It was certainly different.

Turning around, Rachael looked down at the guild master, her hair blowing to her right in the wind. He was looking at her, and she was looking back with a gaze that was not a happy one. To say her day so far was a bad one would be an extreme understatement. She would honestly rather die than have gone through what she did today. That irritation and annoyance reflected in her gaze, but wasn't directed at Lyserg in the slightest. Did he want something, or was he just looking? She would hope it was the latter and that he would move on, but she could feel his curiosity, his desire to find out who this girl was. He wasn't going to move on, and he wouldn't figure out that Rachael wanted him to leave her alone. Her face only expressed the feelings that weren't directed at him, and her body made no hints, not even subtle ones, as to how she really felt right now.

Rachael made no move whatsoever. She stared, almost glared down at Lyserg without moving a single muscle. The only time she moved would be when the wind pushed her or threw her hair around freely without her consent. All she did was stand and wait for him to do something, to finally initiate the conversation she didn't want to have.

The moment the small head with pointy ears stretched out from way above him, Lyserg squinted his eyes in surprise. Not someone who he had seen before. Surely a member, there wasn't another soul that knew about this place. But still, he hadn't seen the girl's face around anywhere. Staring up at her, expecting her to say something, he pondered if she seemed familiar. She didn't. But she was a member, meaning she had a reason to be here, and by here, Lyserg meant in Tartarus with extreme distance to everyone else. Had she set up her quarters here? The smell of warmth and household goods told him that she had.

Looking back down, a conversation across about five floors wasn't something he liked to hold. Not to mention yelling or speaking loudly wasn't his cup of tea. Slithering his right hand into his cloak, he grabbed a key and opened the door to the complex of housing, dissappearing from her sight. Trailing up the stairs swiftly, Lyserg opened up the ladder-door leading to the attic. Upon entering the attic, Lyserg walked over to the small trapdoor that allowed one to walk on the roof. It was built in for potential consturction workings and was sealed into the roof's structure entirely. Moving half of his body out into the open, Lyserg was now on the roof as well. Taking a breath of fresh air, he looked skywards.

"The sky looks truly marvelous from this point of Earthland. Maybe the pheonix mountains, but there are a lot of villages around that dim the night sky." He said calmly. Turning over to the girl, he rested his arms in front him on the ledge of the trapdoor. "May I ask who you are? I have never seen you around the guild grounds before. Which is unusual, since I know at least the face of all members." He spoke lowly, tracing her figure. She wasn't human, her ears told a different story. It wasn't rare to find these beings, but calling the result of the anthropomorph animals from Seven mating with humans common would be a fallacy. Interesting, how they still inhabitated Fiore and took on largely human connotations whilst losing their animalistic sides completely.

Looking at her with a quiet gaze, he could tell she was trying to hide something. Not because she let something through her demeanour. No, that was as cold as ice. But precisely for that reason, Lyserg was able to tell that something was wrong. She wasn't a mystery to him. Rather the opposite. Her body slouched, she had rings under her eyes, her fingernails were uneven. Even if she thought her behavior could hide whatever she was trying to, her appearance told a different story.

Rachael watched as the man entered her home and made his way through the complex and towards her, making her heart sink he really was going to come bug her. Great. Taking a dep breath, the doge girl closed her eyes and contemplated her options. As good an idea as it sounded, running away would cause unwanted suspicion, and telling him to leave would probably get herself kicked out. She couldn't leave just yet... Not while she and her mother were still finding a way to fix Artemis. The trap door that lead up to the roof opened behind Rachael, prompting her to let out a deep, aggravated sigh and turn to face her unwanted guest. The question that the guild master asked prompted the dog eared girl to furrow her brow and cros her arms. Should she lie? Rachael was used to using a fake name anyways, but it would be a problem later on, she knew already. So then she was forced to use her real name then, much to her dismay.

"Rachael Lorelei." the doge replied plainly. almost hiding the venom in her tone. She was so close, yet not good enough. It would just arouse more questions, she could feel already. "How may I help you?"was all she could manage to think of in reply, much to her dismay. She wished so much that she could tell him to go away, but alas, that would not happen. Looking at the guildmaster, she could see the intrigue spark in his eyes at the prospect of having a new member in his guild. Little did he know, rachael had been here for over a month.

Pondering over how long the girl had already been part of the guild, he figured it would need more than a blank stare to figure that out. But it didn't really matter to him in the end. She seemed hostile. Her tone, her voice, her glare. They were all stinging into Lyserg like bullets. It was peculiar to him why this girl was here. And by here, he meant the guild. Generally, this girl was all too unfamiliar to him. She seemed like someone alien, with a completely different socialization than the rest of Fiorans.

"Hmm..." He lowly hummed. "Helping me is not an easy task." He answered with a sense of confidence and serenity in his voice. "You can start off by telling me why you are here." Lyserg added with earnesty and sympathy. There wasn't a bone of him that had ever been ingenuine. In a sense, he was one of the realest people you could meet. Despite that, he could foresee that this girl somehow didn't want to talk to him. He wondered why he was receiving such negativity. Was she just a miserable person in general? But what was she searching here then? Perhaps comfort? That would surprise Lyserg. Not that he wouldn't offer such a thing, but because up until now Tartarus had been full of homicidal maniacs in contrast to the people he saw in Tartarus to begin with.

Letting his gaze wander off of her back into the night sky, he noticed just how serene the starts were. From this height, the tight housing blocks didn't limit the view. The entirety of all celestial bodies shined in their greatness down upon these flatlands. He was truly happy to have returned here all these years, despite there being another, more important reason. But it was too early to invest into that. There would need to be someone he could truly trust first.

And there it was, the question Rachael had been awaiting since she even sensed the man. Why was she here? That was a good question. She didn't know anymore, but the other her knew why. It would be helpful if she was here to explain, but she was currently downstairs taking a shower. So what was her excuse for now? To be honest with herself, lies would get her nowhere. She would just have to wait for the other her to get out of the shower. In fact, she should be done right about now. That meant Rachael could answer and just have the other her go more in depth.

"I don't know." The doge said bluntly. She wasn't even going to try and hide it, having made up her mind on just being bluntly honest. "I'll let her explain." Was all she said before sighing and closing her eyes. That was the cue to go, so hopefully the other her understood.

    "Hello, me."

And there it was. The sweet, caring voice that the older Rachael was gifted with sounded out from just behind the little doge, the one Lyserg had been talking to this whole time. And there she was, standing not more than a foot away from the littler Rachael. She had seemingly teleported in silently, without any effect at all. No poofs, no noise, no effect, just there. Her slender, feminine arms wrapped around the littler doge's neck and pulled her into a warm hug, her generous chest pressing snugly into the back of the little one's neck. The Tartarus guild mark shone in a deep crimson on the back of the older doge's hand, signifying that she was a member of Tartarus too.

"Ah, greetings master Lyserg. I do not believe I have met this particular instance of you. Her tone contrasted far to much to the little one's venom and aggression. It was morally a conflicting and unnerving subject, even to the point where their mother, who was centuries old and had seen the world five times over, was shocked and confused. "In case you haven't caught on..."

"She's me from another timeline. I myself am from 18 years in the future, and she is from 23 years in the future in a neighboring timeline."
