The Celestial Escort (Job: Karasuba)

Job Information:

Karasuba had accepted a fairly simple job request, one she didn’t plan on failing to do with grace and style. The job was to escort a young woman to a fancy party, and help her to regain her smile. Karasuba accepted the job, put on a tuxedo and her top hat and traveled all the way here to Era to meet with the girl. Her father had already met the Celestial Mage and while Karasuba wasn’t……...exactly what he was looking for she would do. Thus, she knocked on the door and patiently waited. A petite young blonde opened the door, and dropped her jaw at what she had seen.

“You? You’re the ‘guy’ coming to take me to the party?!?” The girl asked stunned, to which Karasuba simply bowed to.

“Yes. Im sure your father didn’t tell you, but I am indeed the one. Karasuba Noir, at your service madame.” The ravenette responded, hoping the girl would just accept it. After a brief moment of silence she scoffed and closed the door, exiting in a brilliantly beautiful ruby dress.

“Whatever. Come on, let’s get to the party already.” The girl stated as she walked away. Karasuba chuckled and followed.

“Yes, Miss Lucy Rhineheart.”

The party was slightly bustling, with the people chatting amongst themselves a lot, but Karasuba sat off to the side watching Lucy patiently as the girl simply brooded about. Honestly the Celestial Spirit mage thought she had some problems of her own, but this girl was just literally dragging any party goer near her down with her. The attitude of the party was swell now, but that could change if the Lamia mage did nothing except watch. Thus, she would introduce the girl to someone who can force a good time onto anyone, especially if Karasuba told her to. “Open, Gate of the Metalworker! Kiki!” A girl set in heavy armor appeared, and immediately glomped onto Karasuba like her life would end if she didn’t.

“Oh Kara-chan! You summoned me again! You must want to confess your love for me!” Kiki, ever the love fiend for Karasuba, cheered out. The ravenette only barely managed to pull her off. She looked at the pouting shapeshifting spirit with a sigh.

“Kiki, I need you to help me.” Karasuba got the metalworker to look serious, and pointed towards Lucy. “Get her to act happy.” Kiki grinned dangerously and was about to run off before Karasuba gripped her shoulder and gave her a serious look. “And don’t make her fall in love with you. Just get her to be happier.” Kiki pouted again, but nodded as she ran off to make Lucy happy.

In the only way the metalworker knew how.

Karasuba watched as Kiki began to work her magic on Lucy, getting the blonde to blush and sputter quite easily. Honestly, the Metalworker might as well just have been Aphrodite for all Karasuba knew if it wasn’t for the obvious fact that she wasn’t even close to the Goddess of Love’s level. And Kiki had no effect on Karasuba, so that was also a thing. Silently her eyes averted to a man coming towards her, a big goofball grin on his face as he reached his hand out to her.

“My lady, even if you are dressed in a tux, shall you do me the honor of a dance?” The brown haired male, who could be considered a pretty boy and who Karasuba thought should go after one of the prettier girls in the crowd. Honestly she didn’t consider herself all that girly, or pretty, so the guy needed to get with a girl he could find one of the bimbos who wanted a guy like him.

“No.” Karasuba continued to watch Kiki and Lucy, even as the man reached out towards her. Closing her eyes, the ravenette counted down from five before hearing a girly scream and the sound of someone being punched in the face hard.

“Did you have to hit him so hard Kiki?” All the other guests were astounded, and Kiki just stuck her tongue out for a brief moment.

“I’m heading back. Ginger is probably roaring to go for another game of cards. See ya later sexy!” Kiki called out, giving Karasuba a wink before vanishing back to the Celestial Spirit world. The ravenette sighed before looking at Lucy, who had come up and stood quietly while the events had just transpired. The girl looked less broody and more…..happy. Karasuba smiled, as whatever Kiki had done made Lucy actually enjoy herself. The ravenette held her hand out, and the blonde looked shocked for a moment before smiling and placing her own hand on top of Karasuba’s.

“My lady.” Karasuba spoke as slow dance music played. “Shall we dance?” Lucy nodded, and the two females began to slowly dance with one another. It was a peaceful moment, which Lucy kept smiling at yet Karasuba noted that the blonde seemed slightly offput. After a few dances, they were about to sit down again but before they did, Karasuba turned to Lucy. “You seemed…..troubled back there. Is something wrong?” Lucy sighed before shaking her head a bit.

“No…..well….” Lucy sat and sighed heavily before looking at Karasuba with a serious eye. “Kiki told me about Sephiria...your daughter.”

Karasuba sighed and sat carefully next to Lucy, trying to hide her emotions about the situation as the blonde watched her with slightly concerned eyes. “She told you about her huh? I guess you might think of me differently now.” The ravenette sighed as she waited for the blonde to answer, who shook her head furiously and tried to wave the idea off of her being anything but curious.

“No no! I just wanted to know about her…..Kiki said you had followed her life before and I wanted to see if I could help you in any way.” Lucy spoke with honesty in her voice, while the celestial spirit mage simply chuckled and shook her head.

“Well you can’t help, but I can tell you about her a bit.” And thus, Karasuba spoke about her loving pride and joy, even if said person didn’t think the same way. Lucy laughed at the hilarious, made ‘aww’ noises at the adorable and silently held Karasuba’s hand in comfort at the sad or depressing. Near the end of her speaking, Karasuba smiled and held Lucy’s hand tight as she spoke. “Sephiria may never love me like a mother, but I will always love her. Even if I can’t tell her that to her face, I will. Even in death, as a mother all I want is for her to be happy.” The blonde placed her hand on the ravenette’s shoulder and smiled softly.

“I think she will be…” Lucy took a moment, before hugging Karasuba. “And thank you. For helping me today.”

As the two returned from the party, Karasuba noted how Lucy seemed to be happier and clutching onto her arm. There was also something else but the celestial spirit mage just couldn’t put her fingers on what it was. Reluctantly she just let it occur without any trouble, and just closed her eyes for a bit as they walked. When she opened them again, she smiled at Lucy and pat her head a few times. “You seem to be quite happy. Did you enjoy the party, Miss Lucy Rhineheart?” The blonde giggled and nodded her head.

“I very much did enjoy our time today. It was great, and enlightening. You and your spirit sure did help me out.” Lucy frowned slightly and held onto Karasuba tighter, obviously upset about something. “I wish I could spend more time with you though…” The Celestial spirit mage laughed and pat Lucy on the head further.

“We will meet again one day soon Lucy. I promise you that.” Karasuba said as the two reached Lucy’s home. The blonde sighed and gave Karasuba one last hug, before pulling back reluctantly and opening the door.

“Bye mo-I mean Karasuba! Ill talk to you another day!” The blonde quickly spoke the end and ran inside her house. The ravenette chuckled and turned around, satisfied at another job done well.

Unknowing of what she might have done truly this night.
