    The Job:

Spooky Forest was not somewhere Eli had been before this, nor was it somewhere he intended to frequent. It was littered with vulcans, and he hated dealing with the creatures. They were dumb, wild, and he often times found himself trying to predict them and getting it wrong due to almost nothing but their pure stupidity. Plus, it was hard to properly aim his cards with all of the forests around, which meant oftentimes he was forced to go into physical range; not exactly somewhere he felt safe.

The worse part was the reason they were even out there. It was to save a puppy. There wasn't anything wrong with that per say; he liked puppies, to an extent of how much he could like an animal. However, the fact that someone had made a job with a wizards guild for this felt beyond ridiculous to him. Still, at the end of the day, work was work, and he wasn't going to complain about it. Standing at the entryway to the forest with his team, Eli prepared to enter. So long as they stayed clear of the vulcans, it should be a fine mission, provided they didn't find the dog first. He stretched out his body, cracking his knuckles as he faced his team. "Well, we aren't going to get anything done waiting around all day. Ready to go?" He turned to face the forest, waiting on word for his team before entering. It was a fairly bright day, but most of the light was obscured almost entirely by the forest's dark over-brush. That worried him slightly; things could be hiding in plain sight and he wouldn't even notice. Guess it wasn't called Spooky Forest for no reason.

Post by Emilia Crohil 1st July 2014, 12:10 am

Another day another job. Emilia smiled at the thought. She didn't particularly care where or what it was. If it made money, it was worth it. If it was fun, it was worth it. This combined both: make some money, save a cute puppy, and possibly smash some vulcans, decent training, too with that last bit. Was calling in a guild to rescue a puppy overkill? Well that depended on how much you loved puppies and how much money you had available to spend. Either way, she wasn't going to question it. Hopefully they wouldn't happen upon any bees nests or anything. Were bees common in the Spooky Forest? Perhaps she should have looked into that beforehand... Her mind wandered a bit until they reached the forest's edge. She smiled at the sight of the dark place. Spooky wasn't really a suitable name, more like exciting, or full of opportunity. Hell, maybe even fun would be appropriate. Emi could certainly see herself having fun here.

Emi put on her helmet and slung her shield off of her back. Taking her weapon off of her belt, she tapped it against her shield a few times, grinning. "Let's go save us a puppy and smash us some vulcans!" She snickered eagerly. "Let's just hope the little guy comes to us. Or is at least easy to find. If he doesn't want to come over, I have a plan." It was a fairly simple plan, but would hopefully work. Just place some dog food as bait on one of the cloths with one of Eli's motus circles. Wait for the puppy to come and eat, then have Eli activate the circle and poof, you've just caught a puppy. Hopefully Brielle had brought the dog food like Emilia had asked. Hopefully Emilia remembered to ask. She could be kind of forgetful at times.

Post by Guest 1st July 2014, 1:50 pm

Electric blue irises seemed to trail up in observation to the entrance before them - an uneasy feeling that settled gently at the bottom of the stomach. Another forest... A chill was then sent up the girl's spine at the images that flashed through her mind. Only bits and pieces still existed within the chaos of the memories, Vulcans of all varying levels leaving an unpleasant feeling upon remembrance. Brielle could remember the last time she was in a forest as if it was yesterday, facing so many of the creatures that it was almost unbearable. Although it was manageable in the end - and she wasn't alone in that mission - the downside were the vile creatures that always gave her such indecent looks. On this mission, it was the same creatures once again. This time instead of rescuing a girl, it was a puppy that needed saving. This was the second rescue mission that the young mage was participating in, and the second mission with her team.

It was certainly better than going in alone, and Brielle was growing more comfortable with the duo before her each time. What made going into this Spooky Forest bearable was the very difference that she wasn't alone, and a puppy did need to be rescued after all. It certainly couldn't be left alone to fend for itself in a large forest like the one before them. Despite the darkness that lurked within, Eli nor Emilia seemed fazed by it... on the outside at least. Preparing himself, the leader of the team questioned whether they were ready to enter the forest. Brielle awaited for Emilia to finish her own answer, taking note of the eager smile that lined her lips before the girl spoke with her own reply.

"I-I'm ready to go, too. We can do our best to catch him before the Vulcans do."

Beginning to trail behind the two elder mage's with those words now released, Brielle slid her left hand in the pocket of her pink tinted jacket seeming to grasp something. The girl was confirming if she brought the food needed for the trap they would set out for the animal if they had difficulty catching it. It was in a small container and the girl made sure it was fit for puppies since there was quite a difference between adult dog food and puppy dog food. It was all thanks to Emilia in the first place for even asking her to retrieve the food in the first place, and it was a reasonable idea as well. Smiling to herself as she felt the container in her pocket, the girl retracted her hand before beginning to observe the forest.

Post by Arsene Mayura 2nd July 2014, 1:39 am

Eli let out a sigh when Emilia spoke, placing his head in his hand. Shaking it, he spoke through it, his voice coming out muffled and sounding almost hopeless; as if his very soul had been crushed. "Emi is the one with the plan? I never thought my end would be on a mission to save a puppy." Eli gave Emilia a cocky grin afterwards, before realizing that was probably a bad idea. Brielle seemed fairly nervous about the mission, and giving her any implications that it would go wrong was probably a bad idea. Moving beside her, he gently placed a hand on her shoulder, giving her a friendly smile. "Relax, you seem fairly nervous right now. There's nothing to be nervous about, we've got this. It's a simple mission, and we've dealt with a vulcan before. Besides, you can be the one to hold and handle the puppy. Personally, I think getting paid to play with a puppy is a good deal, don't you?" Maybe he was overestimating her worry, but it didn't hurt to be safe. He felt responsible for Brielle, and he wanted to make sure that she enjoyed herself.

Following behind Emilia, Eli began to hum a tune as they traveled. It was a fairly calm one, slow and relaxing. It had two purposes right now; to make sure that everyone stayed calm, and to also try and bring the dog out. He assumed that the signs of a person would attract a small dog looking for both food and attention. While Eli looked completely relaxed at the time, he was on guard. He didn't like walking through forests, it made finding anyone hostile hard. Watching for any signs of movement around them, he was keeping a hand by his card holder, just to be safe. At even the tiniest sign of trouble, he was ready to attack. Since Emilia was in the front however, she would likely be the first to spot and engage any enemies, or at least warn the other two of it.

Emilia spotted movement in the darkness, but it was definitely too large to be any puppy. It didn't take her long at all to recognize it as a vulcan. The creature stared back at her for a brief moment and froze, seemingly unsure of whether or not it should attack or avoid the team of three. She decided it would be best to engage. Hopefully they would make enough of a ruckus to attract the attention of any other vulcans in the area to distract them from the puppy. That or scare them off and away from the puppy. Another thought ran through Emilia's head to perhaps injure this one badly and give it a warning, hoping it could understand them, since some vulcans could indeed do so. Demand it warn the others to stay away from the team and the puppy.

With her plan thought out, Emilia let out a ferocious battle cry, and charged forward, propelled by Bullheaded to slam into the vulcan hard with her shield. She immediately detonated a Force Pulse on her shield as she hit, keeping it small to keep the force exerted on the beast high. It staggered backwards from the force of the two powerful blows, already moderately injured from Emilia's attack. Emilia had, in the process of of slamming into the heavier target, injured her shield arm mildly. It was painful, but she had certainly suffered worse. While the beast was recovering, she swung Trauma, pressing the button to unlock the head and release a length of cable as she swung. She easily let out enough length to hit the beast with a downward swing, aiming for its left arm.

Post by Guest 4th July 2014, 5:19 pm

Brielle felt the tension within herself grow with the passing moments, the roof of the forest seeming to grow dimmer as the group ventured forth. Experiencing an almost unbearable amount of anxiety, it wasn't long before it began to fade as a gentle hand was placed on her petite shoulder - the set rising slightly in shock before descending once again at hearing the voice of a familiar. It was Eli's and with a relieved sigh escaping the lips, the 13-year-old offered a small smile at his words as she met his gaze. It was at moment's such as this that the raven haired mage was grateful for accepting the offer to join the team with him and Emilia. "Thank you, Eli..." The very idea was a concept that warmed the youngling's heart with a sense of comfort and peace. That and the tune the blond haired mage began to hum. A gentle yet calm tune that caused Brielle to relax all the tension within, the pace of walking slowing to a normal rate.

It was within a few moments that Emilia had come to a halt, the sound of crunching leaves and branches piercing the once eerie environment. Following Emilia's example, Brielle had began to observe the area around them for any signs that would give them a hint as to what the source was. Within moments the elder woman of three seemed to stare down a shadow in the brush, a concentrated expression written clear as day on her features. Following the direction the stare was in, Brielle felt a soft gasp escape her at the sight of the Vulcan lurking within the darkness. Simply standing there an observing the movements of the creature before them, it was a curious tinge as to what Emilia would do. The raven haired mage glanced back and forth between the woman and the creature before an action was finally made.

Without a moment's hesitation, Emilia had made contact with the foe as she let out her battle cry. It was then that Brielle took a few steps back to reach a reasonable distance away from both Eli and Emilia, beginning to scan the environment for any more of the creatures. Maybe even the puppy as one could never be too careful. Keeping in mind to glance to the two members every once in a while, Brielle lifted her hands as a sort of defensive stance before noting yet another disturbance in the environment around them from above. Quickly glancing upward, leaves fluttered down from the roof of the forest above before the branches shivered once again.

With Brielle calmed down, Eli relaxed a bit. Something about this place seemed to spook her; he'd have to ask her later. For now though, he'd have to deal with Emilia's assault. He had expected as much, Emilia was always a hit first plan later person, but he was fairly certain that she had some kind of plan. Reaching for his cards, he pulled out a terra card, preparing to try and seal the creature's movements. The vulcan had the air knocked out of it from Emilia's charge, but wasn't knocked off it's feet yet. Dazed from the sudden strike, it wasn't able to defend properly against Trauma, a loud crack being here where it landed a direct hit on the shoulder, most likely dislocated if not outright broken. It went for a swing with it's other arm at Emilia's side, preparing to try and throw her aside.

Taking the chance to try and maim the creature, Eli threw the terra card beside Emilia. A brown glow emitted from the card, as three large pikes in a triangular shape suddenly replaced the card, falling down with a hard smack against the vulcan's foot. Preparing another card, Eli threw a second terrra to Emilia. "Here Emi, a pretty sticker for your shield." He knew Emilia would know what to do from there. His priority right now was keep watch for any other vulcans, as well as make sure to keep Brielle safe.

As the vulcan swung, its feet were suddenly stabbed by Eli's terra card, injuring and distracting it even further, allowing Emilia to easily block the hit with her shield. Why Eli even bothered throwing another card, Emi didn't know. They had this enemy under wraps easily, any more would be a waste of magic and a circle. She didn't bother to catch the card, and would pick it up after she dealt with this creature. Following her plan to wound it only, Emilia swung with her shield arm, catching the poor vulcan with a heavy blow to the jaw using the edge of her shield. It went down with that hit, in too much pain to keep fighting. It just lay there whimpering pathetically, its arm probably broken, foot impaled and bleeding heavily, and wind ribs bruised or cracked, hell maybe even broken. It would take a while to recover, but given a bit of time, it could probably manage to get up and limp away painfully. She just hoped it was intelligent enough to understand her. Some vulcans were, hopefully this was one of them.

Emilia was about to open her mouth to tell it to warn others to stay away from the group and the puppy, but decided against it just yet. She bent down and picked up Eli's card, putting it onto her shield, then looked around, surveying their surroundings. Their fight had created quite the racket, and would surely attract some attention. It would be best to defeat any other creatures that may come before delivering the warning. That would make it safer to do so, and prevent Emilia from having to repeat herself. She didn't feel like doing that. Besides, it wasn't like this one was going anywhere any time soon. She brought her weapons back up to a ready position and surveyed the undergrowth, looking for signs of movement.

Within a moment's notice, the sound of a Vulcan's cry echoed through the environment. Swiftly turning to the direction the source was residing, Brielle couldn't help but cringe at the sight of the creature's feet being impaled by Eli's terra card. It was with swift action that Emilia didn't waste any more time to deliver a blow to the creature's jaw, sending it falling to the ground in a knocked out state. The whimpering sounds escaping forth from the Vulcan were a bit too much for one's ears to hear, the amount of pain it was in clearly audible judging by the whimpers. There was no doubt that it would take quite some time for the Vulcan to recover, but at the very least it didn't meet its end today. In a way, the creature brought this endeavor upon itself and it just couldn't be helped. Flashing a thumbs-up to both Emilia and Eli, the young mage focused her attention once again to the environment around them. There was certainly more than just that one Vulcan lingering about.

They just had to find them within the darkness of the forest.

Brielle lifted up her hands as her senses were all but focused on the small details of the forest around them. From the falling of singular leaves to the cracking of branches, each aspect was important to pinpoint the exact timing of the oncoming attack. It was within each passing second that the conclusion was drawing nearer, and that the time was running out for Brielle to act. As the opportune moment commenced, a Vulcan launched itself from behind the body of a tree its body hunched over in mid-air. "Now...!" Seizing the moment of opportunity, Brielle teleported within mere seconds and right above the Vulcan swinging a foot down in an attempt to deliver a blow. It was within this instance that it was also rather appropriate to use Territory, but it was all in due time that another opportunity would surely be open for the taking.

With the vulcan taken down, Eli breathed a sigh of relief. It went down pretty easy, he hoped the rest were this weak. He felt almost bad for the thing; it was just sitting there, whimpering in pain. 'At least it's not dead though. It'll heal over time and be fine.' Looking around the area, he tried to scan for any other vulcans, but so far wasn't seeing anything. Turning to Emilia, he gave a slight shrug. "Maybe we scared the rest of them off? We weren't exa-"

Eli stopped mid sentence, hearing Brielle speak and the sudden slam of the next vulcan landing. Panicking slightly, he hoped nothing had happened to Brielle, but noticed that she dodged out of the way in time. She had even gone for the offensive. It was good to see the initiative, however it had left her really open. Even if the blow hit, she'd still have to land off the vulcan and dodge a counter attack. Now it looked like it was his job to prevent that. Brielle's kick landed squarely on the back of the vulcan's neck, clearly disorientating it. It struggled to land, but managed to pull itself together onto it's feet. Not happy with Brielle at all, it turned and attempted a swing at the still landing girl, trying to knock her out of the air.

Not wanting to give it a chance, Eli threw two cards at the beast, a third in his right hand. The first flew onto it's back, and the second at Brielle. As soon as the card touched Brielle, Eli activated them both; a motus and ignis. On the creatures back, a familiar explosion of flame jutted out, and the form that it swung at would suddenly replaced with a blank card. Brielle would suddenly appear in front of Eli, his arm on her shoulder in place of where the card he held was. He ruffled the young girls hair, giving her a smile. "Good job, I give yah an A for effort. However, I'd recommend you try and think about the landing before you go up, alright?" He then heard something in the forest around them, a high pitched whine. Eli was willing to guess it was the puppy, attracted by the sound of human voices. He looked around, but he couldn't place where it was coming from. "Now, why don't you go and find our little friend around here, puppy catcher." He gave her a friendly smile and a pat on the shoulder. He and Emilia could handle the vulcan for the time being.

Emilia looked back down at the whimpering vulcan for a moment. She probably went a bit too far with it. And Eli's terra attack was definitely unnecessary. Oh well, it was just a vulcan. Besides, these things could take a decent beating. It would recover. It would also make it think twice about stalking any humans in this forest. Suddenly she heard rustling and turned to see another vulcan leaping at the group. Brielle suddenly appeared above it and kicked it. Emilia grinned at the sight. She was small, but she certainly had some fight in her. Good thing Eli was there to help her though, since going up against a vulcan with only your fists and feet was a foolish thing to do for most.

She saw the familiar flare of an ignis card light up the vulcan's back. It screamed in pain and rage, first kicked, now set on fire right as it jumped in. Certainly enough to disorient it while Emilia closed the distance to engage it in melee. As she approached, she heard a whining sound, definitely not vulcan. Well, the puppy was nearby at least. Any vulcans that might be hunting it would probably hear the group's battle and come to check it out, leaving the puppy alone. Good. Brielle definitely had the least to contribute to this battle, Emi decided. She didn't want the girl getting hurt, so she should go for the puppy. "Go for the puppy, Brielle! We'll handle any vulcans that might show up!" She called out to her as she ran at the vulcan, swinging Trauma upwards toward the creature's stomach. Hopefully they could take this one out as quickly as the last.

This was the fraction that a certain McCloud didn't think through. Despite the aerial offense the young mage had gone for, the dangers regarding the possible outcomes afterwards weren't thought of. Time seemed to slow in that moment as the heel of the girl's boots successfully landed in terms of contact, although the amount of damage was unknown. The disorentiation on the creature's face could clearly be made out, but the moment of truth was now at hand. Feeling the weight of the movement creating an unsteady influence on her body, Brielle tilted backwards as both her and the Vulcan began returning to the surface. It was at this moment that the raven haired mage regretted not thinking the landing through as it was near impossible to land on her feet considering the position she was in. However, what could have happened to Eli or Emilia was averted and it would have been a messy struggle along the earth floor. The Vulcan had successfully landed on the ground before bearing whatever evident fangs it carried, a dissatisfied growl escaping its mouth before it attempted to swing at the young mage.

Brielle's electric blue irises widened in the action, her expression portraying one of pure surprise mixed with preparation for the attack to land. However, thanks to a blessed team member, that wasn't the case. Within a moment's notice a card dashed by out of the corner of the girl's eye before the sound of an explosion being set off caught the youngling's attention. It was at the blink of an eye that the girl felt land beneath her petite form, stumbling slightly upon the realization. It was almost like another form of teleportation... Glancing up to the blonde mage who had his arm on around her shoulder, Brielle released a smile along her lips before locks of raven tinted hair were rubbed between his fingers. It was encouraging to be commended for the effort, although it was advice well taken to the heart. "Indeed. Thank you very much fo-"

A sudden high pitched whine was heard from somewhere close by. Brielle felt her hands clasp together in surprise at the sound before noting that it was the sound of an animal - a baby no less. It was surely the puppy without a doubt and the confirmation of both Eli and Emilia only doubled the positive guess. With a nod to both team members, the raven haired youngling made a break into the brush taking note to be quick with her actions. A short distance was traveled before the McCloud searched left and right, another whine being let out within a moment's notice. Following the direction and pinpointing the source, Brielle eventually found a puppy who was shivering under the protective shade of a brush that was a reasonable distance away from the scene where Eli and Emilia were fighting. Bending down onto her knees, Brielle softly began to comfort the puppy in order to calm it despite the dire situation at hand. It was shivering in fear and confusion, unable to understand what was happening at the moment.

"It's okay, little guy... I won't let those things hurt you. It's alright."

Seeming scared and alone, the puppy was also startled at first by Brielle's appearance. However, after realizing it was a human, it ran over to her for comfort, pressing itself against her leg as it whined. It started to relax now that she was around, maybe it was the smell of the dog food that attracted it to her?

Turning his attention away from Brielle, Eli trusted the young wizard to handle herself. She might be a disadvantage in direction combat, but he new with her magic she was more than capable of keeping herself safe. Right now they had to deal with the new Vulcan that had just emerged. Cracking his knuckles, Eli prepared to engaged the already injured beast. However, before he could do anything, it let out a loud roar, something he was not expecting at all. Almost as soon as the roar finished, two more vulcans emerged from the bushes behind it; another one it's size and one larger than all the vulcans they had encountered so far. Stepping back a bit, he moved over to Emilia's side, giving her a cocky grin. "Looks like all the neighborhood heard you were single now and rushed over to their chance. Ready to give them the night of their lives?" Eli reached into his pocket and took out two Ignis cards, holding them at the ready. With the terra card already on Emilia's shield, he had a very strong offensive ready to deal with the creatures. What he needed however was for the armor clad woman to initiate the fight and take their attention, or else he'd be forced to try and run from the creatures. Trusting her to take the lead, he threw the two cards out towards the smaller vulcans, trying to strike before they could get ready. Just before they reach them, the cards both turned into two large balls of fire before exploding out in a wide area before the beasts, attempting to blanket all three in flame.

Emilia stopped in her tracks as the beast roared, calling two others with it. Upon seeing them come out, she grinned. Now this was going to be interesting. She grinned to Eli. "Nah, I'm out of their league. They came for you. I'll protect you and your girlfriend, though." She said to him, slipping in a joke about his hand, as she was rather fond of doing. Hopefully that roar would distract any possible remaining vulcans from Brielle and the puppy. The girl had okay fighting skills, but she wasn't strong enough to deal with vulcans yet. Or at least Emi didn't think so.

Emilia charged forward as Eli ignited the cards, surprising the vulcans with the bursts of fire, well the newcomers anyway. The one that had been hit already managed to dodge out of the way. Unfortunately for the vulcan, it had done so rather desperately, leaving it vulnerable to Emilia's attack. She swung her flail hard, aiming at the creature's right arm, aiming to cripple it quickly. Taking out the smallest, weakest ones first was the best plan, since they still posed a significant threat. Reduce their numbers first, so you don't have to worry about attacks from multiple sides. Don't beat around the bush either, go in fast and go in hard. The faster you could take them out, the less chance they had to hurt you. Though this strategy also had to be balanced with not overextending one's self and being left vulnerable. Though, with this vulcan separate from the others, it also made it the safest to single out for an attack. Emilia hoped Eli wouldn't try to use the terra card on her shield against this one though, it would be better used on the uninjured ones.

Post by Guest 12th July 2014, 11:44 am

The puppy brushed its soft fur against the girl's leg, a soft whine escaping its lips. Despite the timid behavior of the animal, there was a smell precariously guiding its nostrils that caused it to emerge from within the protective shading of the forest. Its eyes trailing to observe the strange being before it, the girl had bent down to comfort it. With a slight tilt of its head upon sitting down, the puppy's ears arose within certain moments as the human spoke to it. Whatever the girl was trying to say was almost foreign to it, yet the smell of the food was the first priority on its mind. Its tail wagging after a moment of silence between the two, the puppy made the attempt to protrude its nose into the pink jacket pocket of the petite girl.

A soft giggle escaping her lips, Brielle took the opportunity to pick up the puppy with the hand opposite of the pocket that the food was within. It only took a moment for the young girl to reveal a small treat fit for a puppy, opening her palm to the small creature before it began to nip away at the treat with care. It was rather young for its age considering the size of it, and it was up to the raven haired girl to be delicate with her choices from the moment on. After all, it wasn't an easy task to comfort a puppy and fight at the same time. Being at a loss within the passing moments, Brielle only returned to the waking world by the wet licking from the puppy's tongue along the skin of her palm. "You silly thing..." Without a moment to waste, the young mage carefully began to scan the environment for anything that may prove to be of some use for battle in order to assist Eli and Emilia.

There wasn't a safe way to get near the Vulcans with the puppy in her care, so it was decided to hide within the brush of the forest and aim objects of use at said Vulcans to distract them. It was a reasonable and safe maneuver to get the creatures to turn their backs for a moment so that they could be distracted, giving Eli and Emilia clear openings to attack said creatures head on. As the puppy whimpered out of fear from hearing a Vulcan let out a mighty roar, the young girl gently brushed her fingers along the animal's head to calm it. "Shhhh... It's alright." After a moment of silence, Brielle kept brushing her fingers through the puppy's fur to calm it before finding a decent sized rock lying on the forest floor. Feeling a smile align her lips, she nodded once in determination before nearing the area where the battle was occurring. Taking care to stay in the shadows, Brielle lifted her arm slowly before thrusting it forth at a Vulcan near Emilia, making haste to move from the spot and to another one. Hopefully, Eli and Emilia would know it was her judging by the target the rock hit.

The dodging vulcan was indeed desperate to dodge Eli's attack, and hadn't even considered dodging Emilia's. Completely caught off guard by her sudden dash, the vulcan could do nothing but watch as it's arm was smashed in with Trauma, a crunch following the weapon's blow. Falling to the ground, it's balance was completely taken from it as it landed with a sudden crash. It definitely didn't land well, and the damage from both his and Emilia's attacks were adding up. The other two seemed to recover from the surprise of Eli's attack now though, scarred from the fire but angrier cause of it. Seeing the now open Emilia, they prepared to slam themselves into her, trying to flank from her side.

Unfortunately, while he enjoyed seeing Emilia get beat on, he couldn't exactly allow her to go down now. Reaching into his pocket, he casually tossed two stones out behind the creatures, landing quietly behind them. With a sudden orange glow however, it was anything but quiet. Abruptly, a series of large stone spikes jutted out of the ground towards the creatures, attempting to stab them in the back. There was more to this than just a simple attack though. While the creatures had been too enraged to immediately notice Brielle's stone, Eli had, and decided to place a protective barrier between her and the vulcans. The stone's formed that well, creating a spiked wall to protect her. With the added benefit of most likely stabbing the vulcan's in the back. That was also really nice.

Brielle's stone didn't do much, simply bouncing off the more muscular of the two vulcans without it giving too much notice, especially since it had been hit by Eli's terra spell. Both of them let out a loud grunt as the spikes hit them in the back. They weren't impaled, luckily for them, but they were staggered by the blow, and their backs were cut open from the sharp spikes, letting out a loud roar of rage.

Having crippled one of the weaker vulcans, Emi turned to the two staggered ones. She wasted no time to exploit their vulnerability. She swung Trauma horizontally, aiming mainly to catch the weaker vulcan in the jaw, hoping to take him out in one blow. Depending on how lucky she was with the hit, the momentum of the flail would continue on to hit the large vulcan. Not too hard, but still capable of doing some damage. Still, she kept her shield raised as much as she could, ready to deflect a blow from the big one if it recovered too quickly. Using a Force Pulse on this weak one would be pointless, since she would need it more against the big one. She kind of hoped it would be able to strike so she could absorb the force from its blow to use against it. She would have to wait for the right time, first though.

Emilia assumed Brielle could handle herself, though now it would seem to be time for Brielle to prove it, as another large vulcan had spotted her separate from the group. Eli and Emi would likely be busy for a time with their own vulcans. It started to move toward her, though it wasn't very good at sneaking.

Post by Guest 17th July 2014, 8:24 pm

The damage Eli and Emilia were dealing was nothing short of impressive. Twas to be expected of the two elder mages after all. Both were rather stubborn in their own ways, and it was in moments such as this were each would easily prove themselves to carry quite an amount of potential. The earth trembled within a moment as the ground surged forth from the bottom upwards, slightly impaling the creatures that were proving to become quite the problem. Despite the momentary lapses each member was experiencing, there wasn't to be too terrible of a predicament as long as the Army of Few were careful with each of their individual actions. Keeping in mind that she carried such precious cargo within her grasp, Brielle gently laid a hand on the puppy's back in order to calm it as she pressed onward after Eli had cast a barrier between herself and the Vulcans. It was within times such as this where multi-tasking was to be a struggle. At one hand, there were two Vulcans against Eli and Emilia. On the other, you have a puppy that is needed to be kept calm. Feeling her muscles tense up with stress, the raven haired mage stuck to pressing onward until a Vulcan landed in front of her.

The puppy let out a whine of fright at the large creature before them, desperately making an attempt to hide in Brielle's arms. Gritting her teeth, the girl knew that there wasn't any other way around this. It was her time now to fight against a Vulcan once again. Memories of her first job with the man known as Aegis came dashing through the caverns of her mind once more, a slight chill traveling up her spine. Taking a step back with the puppy still in her grasp, Brielle's expression hardened within the passing seconds as the Vulcan released a roar that resounded almost at a painful level. On its mark, the creature began charging forth at the young mage to only find that she jumped to the side in an attempt to dodge. It was within another moment that the McCloud swung up her left leg, and made the attempt to lever it down onto the Vulcan - aiming for the center of its spine. The puppy could only whine out and shiver within the raven haired girl's arm in fear at the scene progressing before it. It wasn't going to be a surprise if the animal had bore a fear for the creature's from this day onward.

The Vulcan growled in disdain as it slowly turned toward the young girl, repeating the same pattern as before. In this moment, Brielle activated her teleportation and appeared behind the creature to only watch it slam face first into a nearby tree. The shriek of pain that it had released from its snout seemed nothing short of painful, said creature only sliding down after a moment once the shock began to settle in through its system. It was almost unnoticeable but hefty, quiet breaths were released from the girl's mouth between a moment or so. Being a sign of the state of fatigue she was slowly progressing towards, the McCloud simply kept the puppy close to her as the creature shivered with utmost fear - the Vulcan slowly arising again as it wasn't going to simply stop there.

It's arm crippled and heavily damaged, the weakest vulcan was in no condition to continue the attack. As wildly as it howled and thrashed about on the ground, ti had no methods of actually getting itself up to assault them. Caught off by their own attacks, the other weak vulcan was no match for the sudden visit to it's face from Trauma. The force of the blow stopped the creature in it's tracks, forcing it to the ground in a daze. As Trauma continued forward, it did collide with the chest of the final one, but he was ready for it. Taking the blow to it's chest surprisingly well, it grabbed Trauma in it's thick hand, attempting to stop Emilia's attack. With it's other hand it went for a downward swing at her shield, trying to force it out of her grip through sheer force.

Now here was the moment Eli had planned for. Emilia's shield let out an orange glow as the creature attempted to collide with it, familiar stone spikes leaping forward from the shield in an attempt to stop it's attack dead. At this range however, it was very unlikely the monster would be able to stop itself from impaling it's own hand. Taking the chance opened up to him now, Eli reached into his pocket and grabbed a coin, flipping it high into the air and above the vulcans. As it approached the three vulcans' backs, it let out a familiar explosion of fire as Eli attempted to finish off the three. Two were already heavily wounded, and he doubted the third would be in good enough shape to take the hit.

Emilia scowled a bit as the vulcan grabbed onto Trauma, though she did have to admit to herself that it wasn't entirely unexpected. She raised her shield to block the creature, when Eli activated his terra card, creating spikes that the poor sod impaled its hand on. It still had a decent impact on her shield, though, but nothing she couldn't handle. The vulcan howled in rage as its hand was spiked. Emilia let out some more cable so the vulcan couldn't simply tug it away from her. With the push of another button, she extended the handle a ways until it pressed itself against the vulcan's chest, not impaling it, but still painful. With her weapon in position, she let out a force pulse straight into the beast's chest as Eli's ignis coin ignited its back. With a bit of a whimper it collapsed in front of Emi, letting go of Trauma's ball.

She stepped back from the injured vulcans, that now lie whimpering with seared fur before her. She looked around to see Brielle doing battle with another vulcan, which was still recovering and was now getting ready to leap at Brielle, and would probably try to slam her with both fists as it landed nearly on top of her. "Shit." The girl was a decent fighter, but the sheer size of the creature coupled with the fact that Brielle was carrying the puppy convinced Emi that she needed some help. She ran towards the enemy vulcan, dropping her shield to take Trauma with both hands. She started to spin the ball, quickly bringing it up to high speed, ready to slam the vulcan with it when she reached it. "What's the matter, vulcan, can't take someone who uses a real weapon?" She called out, trying to get its attention before it made the leap, or at least distract it so Emi could get in range of Brielle to protect her with Force Shift.

Brielle began to progress in taking a few steps away from the Vulcan. Its whines and low moans were clearly audible within all groups of the remaining foes lingering about the forest floor. With a small gulp, the raven haired mage simply continued to back away from the creature as it turned to give her a hard glare filled with malicious intent. There was no doubt now that the Vulcan was surely mad at the raven haired mage for her actions. Upon closer inspection, said Vulcan was scanning the McCloud intently in a bout to find any openings or weak points. That was when it not only noticed the puppy within her grasp, but the sheer difference between their sizes. It was within that moment that said girl cringed her teeth at the predicament she had found herself in. There wasn't anyway to get out of this one easily enough because of the puppy. It had to be returned home safely and with a sound mind. At the rate this mission was progressing the latter seemed less likely by the passing moments considering the whines and whimpers of aching fear the small creature was experiencing.

Teleportation was on cooldown and even with the puppy in tow, the raven haired mage would still have to consider the fact that there was a possibility that both herself and the puppy could be injured in the possible circumstances. The Vulcan at that moment began to draw near to Brielle as she kept backing away, her hold on the puppy tightening as the creature shivered in pure fright. "Alright then..." The young girl uttered those words out of her lips before an all-too-familiar voice cut through the rising tension. It was indeed Emilia and the McCloud released a sigh of relief that was barely audible. It was moments like this again where there was a constant reminder that being in a team was nothing short of outstanding in terms of rough moments, and troubling instances. The Vulcan turned its head before it had grabbed the opportunity to jump at its earlier offender, a growl escaping its snout as it fully turned to Emilia with an oncoming roar. Now charging forth, the creature instead decided to jump at the red haired woman with an almost frightening expression crossing its features in an attempt to cause bodily harm onto her. Brielle prepared herself for any oncoming surprises, the possibilities being endless in a situation such as this one.
