Breaking the siege(Cathrine and Vierorin)

Cathrine looked at Quanny Village from the top of a small hill. It was a small village that appeared to be made entirely of stone. It had an impressive 7 foot stone wall that surrounded the town, and in the evening light the dark stone looked almost as dark as the sky. The half cat could see a few of the bandits that had taken over the town, causing her ears to flatten slightly against her head. Her and Vierorin had been on their way home from their latest mission, to find some puppies, when they had met the aging sheriff from Quanny Village. He had told them a story about a group of bandits that had taken over his town. Cathrine had not believed him at first, but she decided that they should investigate just in case it was true.

When the man's story proved to be true, Cathrien had been furious that people would do such a thing. It was those people's home and these bandits thought they could just take it!

"Alright," Cathrine said, "We need to stay as quiet as possible. If we attract to much attention to ourselves they may start taking hostages, and we don't want that." Cathrine pointed to one of the smaller doors into the walled town. "If we use the main gate we will attract to much attention, so we will use that door to get in." Cathrine got up and started to creep towards the entrance. "Now remember that even though we want to stay stealthy, don't be afraid to make some noise if need be. Zekkaria could you please keep an eye out for their boss from the air? Once we find and defeat him the rest of the bandits should go down easily." Cathrine once again thought about calling for backup from the Rune Knights, but decided that the two of them should be able to handle a few third rate bandits themselves.

Vierorin was highly annoyed… not only he had stay up late but he didn’t get to ride a train like he hoped. He glared at Cathrine why did we have to pick a day to go to Magnolia where the trains that went to Era would be broken down. “I know we have to do these sort of things… but I want to get to ride on a bloody train for once in my life!” Zekkaria landed on his head and pinched his ear again, “Calm down boy! Cathrine just told you that you had to be stealthy!” She stopped for a moment and looked at Cathrine, “Will do, I will be sure to help out with that man when I can.” With that Zekkaria took off, but then paused for a moment, “I wonder…” She had whispered this but out at a level only Cathrine could be able to hear, “nevermind…” Zekkaria then took off again towards the village.

“Lets just go and get this over with… I need to try and get some sleep sometime soon ya know!”

Cathrine wondered just how immature Vierorin could be. He was worried about riding a stupid train at a time like this? The half cat decided that now was not the time to scold him about his priorities. Another time, she thought to herself as the two of them reached the door.

Cathrine first tried to just open the door, however, just as she had expected, the stone door was locked. The Rune Knight silently cursed in her head looking up at the wall. It was only about 7 feet tall. "I could reach it..." she quietly said to herself. The half cat had recently learned that she had somehow gained the power of flight. Ever since she and Vierorin had stopped some bandits in Hargeon Town she had been practicing her new skill, hoping to one day master it. She looked around to make sure that no one was around before taking a deep breath and jumping as high as she could. Cathrien kept rising though the air until she grabbed the top of the wall. She stuck her head over to see if anyone was on the other side of the wall. Luckily she saw no one. Cathrine lifted herself over the wall before dropping to the ground with feline grace. Cathrine opened the door as quietly as she could before mouthing to Vierorin, "keep quiet."

Vierorin glared at her, Oh I will be quiet all right… I understand the gravity of the situation I am not that much of a kid… He quietly walked through the door and then ran over and took cover behind some barrels, The main thing is… it may not be noise that gives us away… but my magic… the sheer light and heat from my magic would be a beacon practically signaling every bandit in the village that we are here… He sighed and looked around the barrels trying to get an idea of what was going on, he then saw torch light walking towards them, he signaled to Cathrine to let her know to find cover.

When Vierorin signaled for Cathrine to take cover, she knelt down and hid behind some barrels that were next to the street, and pulled him down next to her. Two people, that Cathrine assumed to be bandits, walked past the two Rune Knights, talking in loud voices. "Don't worry Scourge, we almost have all of the valuables from this stupid village. Just a few more graves and a couple of shops left." The taller man who was Scourge nodded and said. "Be quick about it, we need to hurry and get to the next village, this place was not as big of a payoff as I had expected and we need to make up for the losses." "We are working as fast as we can boss." Scourge grabbed the smaller bandit by his neck and lifted him off the ground. "I don't want excuses, just finish faster!" He dropped the man who started to walk off.

"This is our chance," Cathrine whispered to Vierorin, "get ready to rush Scourge, He must be the boss." Cathrine wanted to get this finished quickly to protect the civilians. The half cat stood up, saying "Weapon Transformation: Revolver!" She raised her revolver and pointed it at the boss. "You are under arrest!" Cathrine said in an authoritative voice, "Put your hands above your head and surrender before we have to use force!" Scourge looked at the two young mages and laughed. "You expect me, Scourge, to surrender to two little kids?" the man whistled before shouting, "We have some intruders! Take care of them." Scourge then turned and walked away as 4 bandits ran up. "Get back here!" Cathrine shouted as she tried to run after Scourge, but her way was blocked by the bandits.

Vierorin hung his head in embarrassment… “So much for being stealthy…” He then stood up and looked the direction Cathrine took off, Is she always so hasty… Vierorin extended out his right hand taking aim at one of the men charging at Cathrine from the Alleyways, You will not land a hand on her, she may be a pain in the rear but she is one of my few friends… Azure flames started to flow from his shoulder along his right arm and started to coalesce in his hand. “Cathrine! Don’t Move until this spell is finished! I don’t want to accidentally hit you with it!”

Vierorin knew though… even if it missed she would be affected by the shear heat of it, “Azure Flame Stream!” The beam shot out from his hand flying through the air before it impacted the brawler. The brawler was knocked off his feet and into one of the buildings. Vierorin then changed the direction of the beam and moved it over Cathrine to hit the other Brawler as he closed in. He then closed his hand canceling out the spell and nodded, Suddenly out of nowhere a third brawler appeared behind him and delivered a punch to Vierorins back. He staggered forward for a moment and then looked back at the brawler who managed to sneak up behind him, “Why you…”

Cathine knew that she had rushed things. She sould have waited, planned things out, but instead she had simply ran at Scourge like an idiot. So much for me being the smart one. Cathrine heard Vierorin's waning and stopped mid run and dropped to a knee. She saw a stream of blue flames fly past her and hit two of the bandits. The heat of her allies attack had hurt Cathrine a little, but nothing she could not handle.

Cathirine was about to go after the guys that Vierorin had knocked over, but she heard the fire mage make a sound and she turned to see another one of the bandits had made a sneak attack and punched him in the back. Cathrine raised her revolver and took two shots at the bandit, both of which landed. Cathrine knew that they had goten it to a difficult situation, and she was not sure how they were going to get out.

Vierorin felt two of Cathrine’s bullets fly by him and hit the brawler who had just hit him, “Thanks for the Support Cathrine…” He then ran up and slugged the man in the face knocking him out. Vierorin then nodded and turned around, he examined how close Cathrine was to the remaining enemies, he sighed, She is too close to them… If I use Azure Flame bomb she will be caught up in the blast… He sighed, and then started to run up to the group and tackled into one of the thieves knocking him over.

Vierorin quickly recovered and kicked the thief in the gut before he could get back up, however, the other thief quickly ran up to Vierorin and swung his knife at him. Vierorin barely had time to dodge the attack and retaliated by punching the thief’s nose making him stagger back.

Cathrine nodded to Vierorin when he thanked her for her help, before turning to the bandits in front of her. She raised her revolver and took two shots, one at each of the men who looked like they were thieves. She managed to hit with one bullet, but the other narrowly missed. Cathrine cursed to herself when the second shot missed. She only had so many rounds of ammo, and she could not afford to waist it when they were not sure how many of these guys were left. She took another shot, and this time it hit the mark, sending both of them to the ground. The half cat was down to her last shot in the revolver. She aimed at the nearest brawler, and fired, hitting the man in the leg. Cathrine ducked behind the barrels once again, and reloaded her revolver. "At this rate," she said quietly to herself, "I will run out of ammo."

Vierorin watched as Cathrine made her move taking out the thieves and shooting one of the brawler’s in his leg. Vierorin then ran up to the man as he dropped to a knee from the pain of Cathrine’s shot, he kneed the brawlers chin and then brought down both of his fist slamming the brawler into the ground knocking him out. Vierorin then turned around to the remaining brawler who had cupped both of his hands around his mouth and begun to yell, “Hey! We need help over here!! Send some reinforcements!!” Vierorin grimaced, he can’t believe he just let that happen, he then ran up to the brawler trying to punch him in the face. However the Brawler dodged it and punched Vierorin in the gut sending him backwards.

Vierorin groaned a bit as the brawler walked up to him, “Fooled ya” however Vierorin then kicked the mans feet out from underneath him and then dropped his heel down on him knocking the man out. Vierorin stood up and saw two men were heading towards Cathrine and himself, “You handle one pair and I can handle the other…” Vierorin faced the two men who were running at them from their left flank, he put his hands three and a half feet apart and started to channel his Azure flames to the space in the center, “Azure Flame Bomb!!” Vierorin then threw the ball of Azure flames at the two brawlers which then impacted them after flying about twenty five feet. The bomb exploded enveloping the two brawlers.

After hurriedly reloading her gun, Cathrine took aim at the group of two bandits. She fired 2 shots off at each of them. She managed to hit one of them with both shots, sending him to the ground, but the second was to close to her and just dodged. The large man ran up to her before landing a hard punch to her chest, knocking her back a few feet, knocking the wind out of her, and sending her revolver sliding a few feet away. The man stood over her and laughed at the half cat. "Is that really the best you can do?" Cathrine swung a leg and kicked the man's feet out from under him, sending him crashing to the ground. She got up and scrambled for her gun. As the brawler stood up, she raised and fired the gun twice, taking the man out.

Cathrine used the momentary silence to sigh. This was going to be a lot harder then she had thought. She felt her revolver return to its charm form, and cursed to herself. It was going to take some more time before she could use her favorite gun. Cathrine heard more foot steeps approching them, and she prepared for the next fight.

Vierorin waited for the smoke to clear to see what became of the two brawlers he had hit with his Azure Flame bomb. They were both lying on the ground unconscious, he nodded and turned around when someone jumped on top of him. Vierorin groaned and then through the man off his back who had ambushed him. It was yet another brawler who started to run at Vierorin. Vierorin quickly sidestepped and tripped the man as he rushed past trying to punch him. The brawler rolled forward and faceplanted into a nearby wall.

Vierorin started to laugh at the brawler for his stupid blunder when he heard two men jump down behind him. Oh crud… Both of the thieves kicked him in his back sending him forward. He landed not to far from Cathrine and slowly stood up, “Why you….”

'Monster Dice' :

When Cathrine saw Vierorin land near her, she was furious. She reached for her charms, saying "Weapon Transformation: Shotgun!" Her shotgun grew in size until she was holding it in her arms aimed at the two theaves. She fired at the two men, sending buckshot in their direction and knocking them to the ground, unconscious.

Another one of the brawlers ran up to Cathrine, but when he came was within arms reach of the half cat, she swung the butt of her shotgun and hit him in the head, sending him crashing to the ground.

Cathrine offered the fire mage a hand before looking round to see if any enemies were in their immediate vicinity. She saw none around so she took a moment to reload her shotgun. "So," She said to Vierorin "Are you okay?" After letting him answer, Cathrine said, "I need you and take out as meny of them as you can, I am starting to run low on ammo."  Cathrine heard footsteps approaching and she prepared for another fight.

Vierorin nodded in thanks when he heard Scourges voice again, he looked up and saw the boss of the bandits standing at the end of the street. “You think you two are all that eh? Just because you knocked out a dozen of my men? Time for me to show you how it is done in the real world kids!” Vierorin grimaced as he saw Scourge start walking down the street towards them, I need to buy is some time… Vierorin then ran forward and placed both of his hands on the ground, “Wall of Azure Flames!!” He watched as his azure flames ignite and form a wall of azure flames blocking off Scourges path to Cathrine and Vierorin.

“That should hold him for a bit.” Vierorin nodded and turned around, he saw four brawlers coming at them from behind. He quickly put his arm out and aimed it at one of the brawler’s heads. Azure flames channeled down his arms and started to coalesce, when enough flames built up he nodded, “Azure Flame Sream!!” A stream of azure flames shot from Vierorins hand and flew through the air hitting the brawler in the head knocking him out, Vierorin then changed the direction he was firing and hit another in the chest, knocking him back.

Cathrine felt a strange mixture of both furry and fear when she heard Scourge's voice. She saw the bandit down the road, taunting them. Before Cathrine could react, Vierorin ran up and used his blue flames to create wall. "Good thinking," Cathrine said as she let out a sigh of relief. There were still more bandits around and she was not sure if they could take Scourge out with his lackeys around.

Vierorin took out another two of the brawlers with a blast of blue fire. Cathrine saw another two brawlers coming at them, and raised her shotgun at them. The half cat was about to shoot them, when she had another idea. She put her left hand on the chamber of the shotgun and said, "Fire shot!" A red magic circle appeared around her hand. When the two men were only a couple feet away from her, Cathrine pulled the trigger, and a fountain of red fire shot from the end of the shotgun. The brawlers shouted in surprised when the flames hit them, and fell to the ground. Although the two men looked like they were out cold, Cathrine hit the two of them with the butt of her shotgun just to make sure.

From another street, Cathrine could hear more men coming for them. How many of these guys are there?
