Alexander just muttered, “And my job would be so much easier if the other Demon Slayers did their jobs and actually slayed demons instead of having thumbs up their asses.” Alexander grumbled, it seemed that people forgot their duty. Being a Slayer was both an honor and a duty, all other things came secondary to the destruction of demons for Alexander. To do anything else would insult the magic that you were given. An insult to the responsibility that one took, but it mattered little anymore. To others his words were empty air like petals to the wind, ignored and forgotten. How long until Demons took over because the Slayers suffered the sin of Sloth? Only time could tell….

Alexander landed with a soft thud on the hard ground and faced the one cultist that stood in their way. This was a going to be easy to deal with that Alexander turned around and said, “Because this is a job. Now if this was a date it would involve dinner, wine and a nice long walk down a sandy beach. However wasn’t it you that said you preferred to be treated like one of the men and not hold your hand for everything?” Alexander did not know how to deal with women whatsoever, but it was more because he was focusing on the job at hand. Alexander returned his focus to the single cultist.

The man was annoyed, he wanted to be deemed a threat. However who was the man that did not give him the time of day? He got angry and channeled a fireball that headed straight toward him, but it seemed to curve around and hit him straight in the face. While being set on fire and screaming while running around in circles, Alexander simply kicked him off the edge and into the lava in the middle. Soon there would be no trace of the man anymore, but he was just the lookout. The rest would soon be here shortly. Still this was place, the taint was strong and wicked. More would come soon. Alexander simply said, “Found the place. Hope you are good in a fight, because they will be coming soon…” It was both a warning to not underestimate and to be alert. The heat did not affect Alexander in the least, but wondered how Aedre was faring. And secretly hoped she was not an Ice Godslayer.

Hell To Pay | Job | Aedre & Alexander - Page 2 Empty Re: Hell To Pay | Job | Aedre & Alexander

Post by Felicity 30th May 2014, 5:28 am

The mildly warm wind worked furiously against Aedre's face as the Slayer duo flew forward to what looked like a mountain from the current distance. Her white hair flapped around her face and she only calmly thought over Alexander's views about slaying Demons. It seemed that he bore a very strong grudge against them, which only flared up Aedre's confidence and belief in the success of her plans. Because of this same reason, the idea of Alexander backlashing at her in any way were very less. A win-win situation.
However, what actually disturbed the Slayer was the fact that the temperature was rising steadily, so much so that a thin line of perspiration had formed on the woman's upper lip. Wiping it of with a slight grimace, she instinctively decreased her own body temperature; something that helped in dealing with such situations. A handy trick that was part of the abilities granted from the use of her magic, one that she found extremely useful.
Soon enough, the sound of little explosions came into her hearing range, thus making Aedre conclude that they were actually heading off in the direction of a volcano.
'I should've guessed sooner... Where else would you expect to find demons affiliated with fire?' She mused in her own head, just when she watched the man land on the top of a nearby volcano's edge. She heard him speak about his reason to leave her behind and smiled in a graceful way, "My, my, I don't want to be a man now... If there's anything you should know is that I'm pretty much in love with my femininity. I thought you'd understand that I was only teasing you. Its just that... sweet gentlemen are quite common. My fetish lies with spiciness~"
But as soon as she said that, a strange man made his appearance. Now Aedre had no idea who he was and for a second, she considered questioning him. But her plan was silenced when he hurled a fireball at Alexander, which for some reason curved and hit the caster instead. Aedre only gazed with a bemused expression when he pushed off the man down in the lava.
“Found the place. Hope you are good in a fight, because they will be coming soon…” The Demon Slayer warned and she only nodded once.
Low growls, footsteps and a strange rumbling inside the ground was to be heard.
"They're already here actually." Aedre stated, just as three dog-like creatures careened from a certain direction in an unexpected way and landed straight in front of the two Slayers. Saliva dripped off their jaws as they stared hungrily at their supposed preys and were soon followed by another man who looked similar to the one that Alexander had thrown down the lava. There seemed to be a general set of clothes that these men wore, a sort of uniform, one that covered their face entirely and blocked it away from anyone's vision.
    'Cultists, perhaps?'
The rumbling from beneath the earth only grew stronger with time, as if trying to warn of an even greater peril waiting ahead. But that could be worried about later on.
"I can look after myself, so care about your own skin Mister Zenneth." A reply made with the best of confidence, one that was a green sign for free reign and choice of actions. Afterall, a battle with rules was no fun.

Alexander smirked silently at the cultist’s death, another sinner gone from the world. This did not bring any actual joy, but a sense of completeness. There was nothing that would be as fulfilling, the rush of watching someone that sold his soul for power. He had powers now, but at the price of shackles placed on them. Alexander served no demon and no god, he truly believed he lived free. Did he really though? He was shackled by his own of hate and vindictive personality. He was controlled by what was infected in his own soul, a piece of Adromalech’s soul rested in him.

Alexander turned around to face the new arrivals, he jokingly thought to himself a funny thought. I like your femininity too Aedre, but I prefer my women not to be the type that would stab me in the back. Chuckling at his own thought he proceeded forward to the new group of enemies, not showing any fear in the least. Fear was a weakness, something that enemies could take advantage of. Instead he just chuckled slightly to himself and proceeded to comment, “I will give you a choice: Give up and Ill kill you quick. Fight and I will prolong your suffering as long as I can.” Alexander’s eyes had the fires of judgment behind them. And to him, they were deemed less than human and had no more rights. However he would grant a small mercy and allow them to repent for their sins.

Alexander waited for a single second, before they attacked. The hard way huh? Alexander was fine with that and just simply charged at the enemy. He enjoyed combat in his own sick way, testing his strength on his enemies. In this case, a pack of hellhounds that simply charged at Alexander. The Demon Slayer however almost lost his footing as the ground shook. That was not consistent enough to be an earthquake, but something else.  Alexander commented, “Something big is coming… Keep on your toes!”  Alexander brought his 2 hands to the side, standing completely still now. Magical energy was released as they caught on fire and fired from the sides into these sort of concentrated fire lasers. He brought the 2 hands from the side and brought them forward in a half circular fashion, hitting 2 of the dogs and causing them Holy burns. The single cultist however was not as lucky to simply be hurt, the laser cut through his body in half from the waist. The stomach spilled out all the entrails before the 2 halves hit the ground. The 3rd dog however had gone through and was going for Alexander’s right shoulder….

Post by Felicity 2nd June 2014, 2:48 am

The wings on the woman's back burst into a thousand raven black feathers, seemingly shooting for the heaven in a twirling and gentle fashion. A moment later, they would descend onto the ground, covering their owner in a blend of dark and light. But just when they all would hit the floor, they'd disappear with some small flashes of bright light and just beneath that one could see a kneeled down Aedre.
A triumphant smirk gracing her lips, the white-haired woman threw a glance to the three remaining hellhounds, as the ground continued to shake and rumble slowly; albeit enough to strike a pint of anticipation and anxiety in the Slayer's mind.
The tips of her fingers were pressed hard on the ground, as if on an unrelenting attempt to imprint themselves on the ground. A dark magic circle would bloom on the rock floor, just beneath her fingers and at the same time another one would pop on the ground under the hellhounds's paws. Substantially larger in size and only a single one, the creatures would stare in disbelief and fear; as they fail to comprehend what would follow.
"I hope you enjoy fountains~" She stated teasingly, while the arcane circles disappeared into thin air and a strange roaring sound ensued from the floor. Blending with the explosive sounds of the volcano and the rumbling of the ground, it wasn't highly noticeable, which only made it difficult for Aedre's little enemies to sense it.
A faint crack, which was followed by a handful more, while the entire ground beneath the hellhounds was destroyed by a gushing reverse of water that expanded in all the directions and was combined with plumes of steam. It sent the three creatures straight into the air, while Aedre stood up from her previous position to a much relaxed stance.
Emerald orbs would enjoy the lovely feast settled for their amusement, when they observed the bodies of the beasts being showered by the boiling water of the geyser.
But nothing good lasts long, they say.
As if trying to %dampen the spirits of the two Slayers, the floor would rumble more and more and the ground behind the geyser would deform into a strange mass of molten rock and magma, continuing to grow to a colossal and terrific size.
A trembling roar of a voice would shake the place right from its very core, causing the white-haired woman's features to turn into an annoyed grimace.
'What in the world...' A fleeting thought crossed her mind when it came to her notice that it was just a mass of volcanic matter that has assumed a humanoid form. A humongous form at that.
"Take care of these puppies, will you Zenneth?" A teasing question tossed to her partner, only to be followed by a soft sigh.
Letting her arms be open on either side, Aedre took straight in the direction of this new found enemy.
"I'll teach you some manners big fella."

Alexander had to lift an arm to stop the one of the hellhounds from going after his throat, but a geyser opened from the ground and caused it to fly over his head. Okay that caught him by surprise, but what was that? The water geyser came from nowhere and now… Aedre. He should have known she would be a water God Slayer, but that would mean that her god would have be… What was his name again? He was that one god that Adromalech had major issues with, something about stopping his first invasion into Earthland and wanted him dead for reasons. Meh was not his concern anyways while there was things to kill. It would be sorted out later, but made a comment, “I can see why now your god was looking for me…” He then focused on the dogs that were nearly dead. The ground shook again and a being made out of lava came out and filled the air with its stench of unholiness. This was a Cherufe, a being that he had not seen in a long time. Not since being in hell anyways, but that could mean only one thing for Fiore. This was the start of another invasion by engulfing the world in fire.

Alexander told Aedre, “Well I guess you can happily report to your god that his mortal enemy is planning another invasion. We need to kill the Archdemon and close the portal that is opening here. This is worse than I thought….” Alexander looked at the Cherufe again and then the dogs, as much as he hated to admit it… The dogs had to go. So Alexander charged up the energy in his arm and ran up to the regrouping pack of dogs. There would be no time for them to attack for Alexander slammed the ground in an explosion. The dogs flew up in the air and into the lava, if they did not die from heat, then there would be a long time till they got back up here. Het then turned around slightly in his small victory and noticed the wave coming in. Well as much as Alexander would love fighting a Cherufe, it would be more strategic to let water girl fight the Cherufe and he dealt with the mooks. So he joked, “And people say I don’t let them have any fun.~” And then looked at the reinforcements and gave a very demonic grin.

“Bring it on. Fight or die well.”

Hell To Pay | Job | Aedre & Alexander - Page 2 Empty Re: Hell To Pay | Job | Aedre & Alexander

Post by Felicity 3rd June 2014, 4:02 am

As Aedre's lithe frame sprinted onto the volcanic monster's direction, she heard Alexander's statement about his own realization of the Torrent God's and his daughter's true intentions. A small, playful smile made its way to her lips and she made a quick decision to not reply back. Focus was an important aspect of any battle and talking to the Demon Slayer would only distract her.
It was rather strange actually, but the white-haired woman knew that there was something extraordinary about the man, something that pulled her like a magnet. This strange pull definitely distracted her, yet it did not steal away her control. In the last hour that she spent with him, Aedre understood well that there would be greater part of Alexander Zenneth in her life. Whichever form it may be, she would accept of course, just like she had accepted most of the things that made its way in her life. But he wasn't going to be a pawn in her battle and not the king either. No, he couldn't be ruled and neither could she. Both of them were the kind of individuals that lived on their own free will.
Another roar that shook the ground and the Cherufe slammed its arm-like structures at Aedre's approaching form. However, the Slayer's agility was something that she was best known for and she dodged the attack with pure, cat-like grace. At the same time, both her arms transformed from flesh and blood into heavily pressurized water, that too, only with a subtle crack-like sound. Both the arms would rotate at a high-speed, as they seem to take the form of long streams of dark-tinted water.
Reaching up close to her target, Aedre slammed the right stream straight into the ground, causing a colossal crack on the volcanic floor and causing ash to rise high up in the air. However, along with that, the Slayer's entire body would shoot forward in the direction of the Cherufe; all thanks to the motion that she would achieve due to the stream hitting the ground. Being air-borne, her left hand would swipe down onto the Cherufe's side and the water would splash on its substantially large-sized body.
With that attack, Aedre would start falling on her left-side, as the right arm would hit the same side of the Cherufe in a spinning motion.
Another splash of liquid on the creature and Aedre would get the chance to balance her body weight most perfectly, as she landed on the ground flat on her heels and with rather evident ease.
“Well I guess you can happily report to your god that his mortal enemy is planning another invasion. We need to kill the Archdemon and close the portal that is opening here. This is worse than I thought….” She heard her partner speak once again.
"Your demon sounds pretty ambitious to me. The last time he attempted it, my mentor was the obstacle he had to face. This time, for a change, it'll be me... Along with you. That is, if you co-operate." She replied back, as a great amount of steam rose up in the air from the Cherufe's body and his groans of agony were to be heard for miles of the immediate area.

Post by Zeon 15th June 2014, 2:55 am

Alexander stared at the new reinforcement with a smile on his face and a laugh in his throat. This was perfect, so bloody perfect to use new magic on the enemy. It was a pity that it was on a pack of dogs though. Well there was a need to end it quickly, because one slipping by could get Aedre overwhelmed. It would take only one to throw anyone off their game. So Alexander closed his eyes and focused, causing an aura of fire to surround him. Alexander was one with the fire and thus acknowledged it's heat, passion and anger. 7 orbs of fire swirled above him like a ring as the judgmental holy flames swirled in fury. The fire wanted to judge, purge and cleanse the demon of their filth. And why would Alex deny them that pleasure?

Opening his eyes he yelled out in a voice that was not his own, "LUST!" The first ball of fire ripped through the air and melted the face off the first dog. "GLUTTONY!" The second ball of fire hit another dog in the stomach and set the fur on fire. After twitching for 2 seconds it became nothing but ash "GREED" The next ball hit the side of the head and caused it to explode. The decapitated corpse fell to the ground and stopped moving. "SLOTH!" This time the ball of fire went through a cultists chest and cause the ribcage to explode. There was a small shower of bone and flesh as he went down. "WRATH!" The ball of fire melted the other cultist in half, flesh and bone melting away. "ENVY!" The next ball went in to the open mouth of a hell hound and melted him from the inside out. "PRIDE!" The last ball of fire burned a hole from the head and through its body until it came out of its rear. The heat dissipated and Alexander had a look of the damage. There was 3 dogs left and while the spell was powerful, it made Alex immovable.

The first dog bit into Alexander's shoulder, drawing blood from there. The second dog bit his right leg and attempted to knock him down, but failed. The last dog ran by him and was going for Aedre from behind. Alexander did not feel much pain, but instead warned the Water Godslayer. "Hey behind you, one got by. Also if my history lesson is correct... Didn't the 2 end up causing the landmasses that we live in today? "

Hell To Pay | Job | Aedre & Alexander - Page 2 Empty Re: Hell To Pay | Job | Aedre & Alexander

Post by Felicity 16th June 2014, 5:42 am

"Hey behind you, one got by. Also if my history lesson is correct... Didn't the 2 end up causing the landmasses that we live in today?" Alexander's voice reached her ears and the white-haired woman's lips parted for a split second, for she was about to reply, but felt a low growl right behind her. The Demon Slayer had warned her, so she was indeed extra alert; so much so that she could feel the gentle swirl of air created by the hell-hound jumping in her direction.
In a heartbeat, her pupils slid away from Zenneth and locked onto the shadow of the attacking hell-hound. The shade was cast right beside her, so at the same time, a long black sword materialized in one of her hands, that also, only with a gentle tick noise.
The woman's eyelids had themselves shut, for she had already figured out when the impact would take place; when the hell-hound will have a chance to hurt her. Alas, she wasn't going to let that happen.
A sharp intake of air and Aedre's eyebrows had scrunched up in concentration, while her entire body turned around in a graceful circle, with only a flutter of her clothes. The subtle sound of blade tearing flesh could be heard, for Elucidator had pierced straight through the lower jaw of the hell-hound. The creature mewled and groaned in pain, as blood dripped into the volcanic floor below and even its entire body came down to a flop on the ground. Unable to move, since the white haired woman had his jaw trapped in her blade.
"This is why I say... keep your mouths shut."
The next second, a light teal colored sword had appeared in Aedre's other hand and the woman only moved a slight bit to bring the same hand forward and drive it straight through the hellhound's back and into his heart.
"Blabbering too much leads to early demise." She stated in a cold tone, as for a single second, her eyes might have glowed a startlingly scarlet-red.
"And yes Mister Zenneth, your history lessons are up-to-date. My father cooled down the Fire Demon's volcanoes... as well as his attempt to destroy Earthland." Aedre spoke, as both the swords in her hand were enveloped by a dark-blue, ethereal light.
At the same time, the Cherufe was done dealing with its pain and had started to advance in the direction of both the Slayers; its entire lower body being one with the volcanic ground and sliding through it like a slab of butter on a metal plate.
"Rather impatient, aren't you honey?" Aedre taunted the creature out-loud, as she took forward in the the creature's direction; while still saying a something more to Alexander, "To be honest, I don't even get your Demon's way of thinking. If I was in his place- I would've let Earthland flourish and then toy with the people... as I please. That's way more fun, in my opinion."
Running forward, Aedre's hand would work furiously in small circles, as the light on the swords would transform into swirls of dark water, as they twirled around both the blades and enveloped them completely.
Just then, the Cherufe's arm shot forward, as it made an attempt to smash the woman to a pulp by letting his fist slam straight on top of her. However, Aedre changed her trajectory just then, while coming to a halt next to the fist that had lodged itself into the ground due to the impact. A wave of heat pulsed out of the fist and the ground cracked slightly, while the air heated considerably and was to be felt by Aedre.
"Oooh~ You're hot!" She exclaimed, only to be followed by a small chuckle; as she brought both the swords close to each other and let the tornado-like water on the blades fuse into one another, wrapping and swirling, before with a huge pulsating motion, it blasted forward like the trademark roar of any slayer.

Hell To Pay | Job | Aedre & Alexander - Page 2 Empty Re: Hell To Pay | Job | Aedre & Alexander

Post by Zeon 22nd June 2014, 3:26 am

Alexander watched as the partner dealt with the hellhound, there was respect in his eyes. He may not agree with Aedre’s choice in life, but then again would he have done the same in her shoes. It sounded like her god treated her with if not love, then respect. Alexander then remembered that he was still attacked by hellhounds, but not because of the pain. In fact his deadened nerves made him feel nothing of the sort, just minor discomfort as weight pulled it down. Alexander activated his wrath, causing his eyes to glow red and a shockwave of White Holy Fire surrounded him. The pulse of energy pushed back the 2 remaining dogs off him. The eyes gave out a demonic slit as he grabbed the first hellhound and pried its jaws open, in fact pried it open so much that it ripped clean off. Alexander was angry, the flames of Vengeance would surround him in a fashion that made it not comforting. In fact what should be calming fires instead had this intimidating judgmental look to then, it was as if they were going to judge you, kill you and incinerate your soul. Alexander was no angelic entity and seemed to corrupt the use of Holy Fire. Or was it actually its true purpose? Only time could tell.

Alexander kicked the other dog with such force that it vomited its organs out before splattering on the volcano wall. The dog was gone and the targets were eliminated, now there was just Aedre’s Cherufe and it was over for now. They could take a breather after dealing the initial guards, Alexander’s adrenaline was still pumped up and wanted to kill things. To cause them pain, misery and death. Demon Scales had crawled up his body and some horns had become to come out. There was little of the Alexander that Aedre saw in Talonia, in fact if she read the right books… He was beginning to look a lot like Adrommalech.

Alexander’s rage was powerful, but out of control. He was even considering killing Aedre for a few seconds before he took a deep breath and it dispelled as soon as it came in. He restored his humanity again in the never ending struggle between the demonic half and the human half. He simply replied, “Because anger and impatience makes you do stupid things. Adrommalech is no exception to this rule. He wants to rule and do it in the quickest way possible. And besides, eventually he had to deal with Poseidon so why not at that moment? What he did not take into account was his strength and control of the oceans. In the end fire is fast, burns and destroys quickly. When met with waters patience and ever changing temperance, it falls quickly.” Alexander chuckled slightly as he pulled out stuff out of his bag and started to throw things in a pot. It looked like Venison meat and assorted amount of potatoes and vegetables into a broth.

Yes the slayer of demons and bringer of Holy Fiery wrath decided that now was a good time to cook between fights. The man even asked, “You have any food allergies I should worry about? Because I have not eaten in 2 days and with the demons scattered, this looks like a fine time to eat." He then offered yet another one of his famous cookies to Aedre as he watched the pot. He then silently said, “You saw that right?” He was referring to the demonic state he was in, but maybe she was unaware with what happened.

Hopefully she was, he hated explaining that part.

Hell To Pay | Job | Aedre & Alexander - Page 2 Empty Re: Hell To Pay | Job | Aedre & Alexander

Post by Felicity 23rd June 2014, 9:27 am

The twister of water would hit the Cherufe's body and at the collision, splash all around him, while pushing the hell of a giant back; thus causing him to hit a volcanic rock wall behind him. The sizzling body of the creature would emit an almost ridiculous amount of steam, as it gave out another scream of pain.
"That makes you even more pathetic." Aedre spoke, albeit in such a low voice, that one could rarely make it out in the sounds of the Cherufe's groans. The intensity of its voice increased for a split second, as a thin crack appeared at the base of its structure; the one that connected him to the ground below. The flaw would continue upwards, while increasing in its width by the origin, as it seemed to separate the Cheufe in two equal halves. However, it only spread like a vine spreading on the wall of an abandoned house; forming all new branches and causing its body to creak into pieces. One by one, the parts of him smothered into nothing but ashes and the scream of the creature had finally ceased disturbing the white-haired woman's sensitive ears.
She had a real damn trouble with loud voices.
With a sigh, the woman turned to look at Alexander, only to witness him kicking a hellhound into the volcanic wall. She had not fully turned yet, so it was nearly impossible to tell if she was looking at the Demon Slayer or not; but she could clearly see a different aura swathing around the man. She could take notice of the strange similarity he now held with the Fire Demon that Poseidon's diary spoke about. An uncanny resemblance to the appearance of a Demon... Would that be the cause of a future worry?
However, the illusion-like situation only existed for a few second in Aedre's vision; since Alexander reverted back to his normal appearance. The Slayer could not make much out of it, but there was this irresistible feeling inside her that it would be wrong to pry into this matter; since it gave off the aura of something better kept to the Flame Slayer.
With a soft sigh, the woman walked over to the edge from where one could see the lava below the place, flowing hot and bright-red; exactly opposite to the place where Alexander was standing. She was willing to give him a small amount of private time; incase he needed that for any reason.
The dual swords in her hand disappeared into nothingness, as her green eyes pierced into the lava-valley below. The moment seemed to place the idea of death in her head, the realization of how temptingly close she was to it. Always.
Aedre could hear Alexander speaking of his mentor as well as hers, referring to the battle that took place aeons ago among them. It was rather interesting as to how it affected both Aedre's and Alexander's life in the present day. People really do tend to only think about themselves, they rarely pause to wonder on how their actions might affect others.
At the same time, apart from the background sounds of bubbles in the lava river below her, Aedre could hear Alexander speaking of Adromalech and Poseidon, as well as their powers. With that, a small, playful smile lit up her features; as she turned around with a grace and walked up to the white-haired man. She could notice him bending over something, but couldn't really figure out from her current position.
"Are you implying that I'm your innate weakness, Mister Zenneth?" She questioned jokingly, ending with a small chuckle.
Reaching right next to him, only then could the Slayer notice that her partner for this job had taken to.... 'COOKING?!'
She couldn't help but cringe slightly at his next question; something about her food allergies. Her lips parted to speak, but closed down when he mentioned his current state.
"Well, well, you must be ravenous, eh? Go ahead then.... While I hope that this makeshift kitchen of yours doesn't lead us into any trouble with the creatures in this place." She stated, while lending an eye to the surroundings. The woman wasn't too used to letting her guard down.
"Oh, by the way, you better cook something consumable- otherwise, I assure that the futue won't be bright and happy for you." Aedre mentioned, as she accepted the cookie that Alexander seemed to magically summon every now and then.
“You saw that right?” She heard his question, while taking an appropriate bite of the delicacy in her hand. Just the tone of the Demon Slayer's words spoke tonnes for the woman. For a moment, she simply stared ahead of her, before concluding that there was no point in lying. Besides, if she were to stay put on her beliefs of letting people have their own personal space; curiosity would end up killing her.
"I did... and I ought to accept that you are remarkably close to your father in certain aspects." However, as soon as she said that, she regretted it. "I mean... people tend to see a Slayer's mentor as their foster parent and I just- forgot your views about him for a while." Aedre stated, trying to clarify her words as much as possible.
Sometimes, even someone as cautious as her ended up saying things in a blunder.

Alexander chuckled as he stirred the stew a bit more, it was probably foolish to cook in a warzone. He had his reasons though, it was not just simply food he was after. It was bait for hellhounds to come here and attack who was there. It was bait and a trap for now and he had just the thing to prepare for this. He added some spices as he sat back and let it simmer, it was one of the few things that would calm him down. To make sure he wouldn’t break out and cause havoc, but was it enough? Kyll had closest of calls back in Midi and he did not want to risk Aedre. He did chuckle and said, “No worries if my food makes you sick then you can kill me yourself. Demons also are repulsed by fire, but the smell will lure hellhounds. Put those animalistic creatures right into easy targeting.” He just was chuckling and having a good laugh, adrenaline still pumping in his body. It felt good, but he needed to separate enjoyment from anger. However the lately the 2 have been hard to separate and felt like one of the same.

He looked at Aedre and sighed as he started his explanation about the scales, “It’s all right, I am more like that demon than I care to admit. Not of my will however, it is my soul that’s been tainted from the energies from hell. So whenever I get angry or feel the fury of battle I slowly turn into a demon. It is something I am disgusted with… I am becoming what I am supposed to slay and I hate every second of it.” Alexander sat down and looked at the soothing flow of the lava, it was beautiful in his eyes. The slow moving fire mixed with rock. Its slow dissolution as this soon destructive force will create new life. With death there is always new life after all...

Alexander then looked up Aedre and asked her a question, “So what was your relation with Poseidon like? You seem to talk very highly of him like if he replaced your father. I am wondering if gods and demons really do treat their slayers differently or if we are just toys in their game.” He was curiously interested and let the lady speak her words. It is rude to interrupt a lady after all and Aedre has actually showed more patience to him than many others, so he was cutting her some slack.

Post by Felicity 27th June 2014, 9:34 am

The woman almost let out a contented sigh when she heard Alexander's reply; for he didn't really seem to mind the little mess of her choice of words. She didn't fancy the idea of them having any sort of argument or disagreement at such a crucial time, even though... that was likely to happen when one considered the way in which both the Slayers differed.
They were to bound to repel like the two opposite ends of a magnet. Forever in a hopeless and endless battle.
Aedre listened to him speak about the little change that had triggerred itself off within him, her mind entangling the information into the complicated web in her head, while her face remained as nonchalant as ever.
She watched him sit down calmly, his eyes staring down into the spread of lava below them and reflecting it with a bright intensity and in that moment, the woman realized one important thing; that she connected well with this man. She was meant to hate him... but she might have taken an inkling of liking to him instead.
With a small intake of breath, Aedre sat down beside him, while pulling her knees slightly close to her chest and gazing into the red river as well.
"I think- its okay. You say that you can never help it, right? And anything that's not in your control is never worth your worry either." She stated, not even understanding that she said it. The words flowed like a river, that's all one could say.
She let out the breath caught in her throat, while letting one of her hands hold Alexander's free one. She held it just like how she had done in the bar; only with a gentle squeeze and not in a challenging sort of way.
"Besides, I say the transformation has a cool quotient to it." She spoke, glancing at him and winking with a gentle smile. So, yes, she had a lighter side to the personality too.
    But it never lasted long.
Her hand withdrew back in a second, once again holding her knees, as she looked in the other direction with a flustered expression.
What in the world was she doing?
However, when the Demon Slayer posed a question to her, she was secretly glad; for there was a chance to change the subject now.
"He could never replace my father... cause he was my father. Or atleast, the only person I considered a father. Its just that, my biological family... or whatever is left of it- could have never accepted me for what I am today. Let's say, I was never really a part of the family... I only have the blood, nothing else." Aedre answered, letting out an inaudible sigh.
"The only reason Posiedon can be called a parent is- acceptance. He sees me as who I really am and has no qualms.... As long as I follow some of his orders, which, is fine by me." She spoke, however stopped for a single second before replying back to what could be called; Alxander's doubt.
"I never thought of it as toys, but more like keys... Keys to their little problems, or to better term it; locks. Besides, I honestly don't mind a few tasks when I possess freedom with every other matter."

Alexander chuckled at Aedres answer about his possession, but it was more than that. He worried that telling her that it was a piece of Adromelech that resided in his soul would lead to more complications, maybe even kill him.  However she seemed to be quite calm about it, even mildly friendly about it. This made him sigh a breath of relief as he looked at the lady that was next to him. She was cool and collected like a mountain river… Beautiful, graceful and charming. He however wondered how much her fury would be if she ever got mad. Or what her emotions would be if sad. Water was fickle element sometimes, but strong as well. Water was also the element that would let things slide when minor things got in its way. Give that water enough time and it will move entire continents. Water was a powerful force after all.

Alexander answered, “Not when I have to deal with fallout afterwards when I am in control. Some worse than others, but I guess there is only one person here that I care about hurting. Better than a whole city at least, I still need them after all. How else would I get the Lacrima I need?” It was more than that, demon hunting was his profession, no his families duty. They took in the taint of demons to protect others, but it also attracted Adromalech to them and their family. He lost so much, but it would be better. Tomorrow would be another day.

Alexander then started to use the fire from the stew to form miniature humanoid figures and started an old courtroom ball dance. All dancing in unison as he replayed an old childhood memory from scratch. His time when he was a noble in Fiore, but that was as a child. Now he was a Guild Master with only his sister as family left. Alexander said, "See relation between humans and demons are different, or at least my case was. I never had a choice or was nothing more than a pawn. So to hear that Gods treat their Slayers with more of a modicum of respect brings me some kind of peace. Family is important and is not determined by blood or familial ties. Its acceptance more than anything, all other things are lies.” Alexander was talking as if it was from experience. No matter how bleak his life was, his familiar bond with his guild mates keep him alive or at least make it worth living.

Post by Felicity 29th June 2014, 6:36 am

Green eyes intently stared at the lava river below, noticing the thick ripples that formed in the air due to the sky-rocketing temperature. Aedre's chin was placed on the back of her palm; as it rested on her knees and she listened to Alexander speak. She couldn't really pick up the courage to look straight back into his eyes after what she did before. Yes, certainly it seemed silly. But for someone with the personality of the white-haired woman, it was a tad bit embarrassing.
But her embarrassment probably disappeared into thin air when he mentioned something about needing a city for some purpose and also about a lacrima.
    Now, this, caught her interest.
Eyebrows scrunched up slightly, as Aedre turned her head to question Alexander but actually ended up noticing the little trick that he was playing with the fire. In one of those rare occasions, the Slayer was distracted as she broke into another gentle smile.
'So he's into dancing, huh?' She wondered, never understanding if it meant anything important to Alexander. If anything, she only saw it as something that the Demon Slayer was doing for passing his time as the food was being prepared.
The images of the fire would simply reflect and dance back in her emerald eyes, while she played the role of a listener once again. But somewhere in the back of her mind; questions about the lacrima had resurfaced and aroused the usual curiosity.
"I'm not exactly sure if I'm anything more than a pawn... you know. I rarely keep in touch with Poseidon. He lives his life and I live mine. Its some unwritten and unspoken rule between us." Aedre replied, not minding if the man next to her was expecting an answer or not.
Perhaps, as another rare moment in her life, the woman was speaking her heart out. Maybe it was the realization that Alexander was indeed similar to her in some ways or maybe because she found the man trustworthy enough.
In any case, she only knew that it helped them both lighten up their thoughts a little bit and also that, they would end up being the most weird duo people came in contact with. Majorly opposite, yet similar. They were nothing less than a conundrum of pairing.
She also loved the fact that he understood her better than most people did, for his view of family was identical to hers.
With a soft intake of breath, the woman gazed into the stew being prepared, "It doesn't smell bad... unlike what I expected. I suppose cooking is some sort of a hobby, Mister Zenneth?" She questioned, before posing another one; although much more important.
"And if you don't mind me asking, what is this lacrima that you seek?"

Hell To Pay | Job | Aedre & Alexander - Page 2 Empty Re: Hell To Pay | Job | Aedre & Alexander

Post by Zeon 1st July 2014, 6:24 am

Alexander had the ballet go a little further, he could still hear the music from that old ballet song. The smells of food from around the country, the pampered brat he used to be. Being part of the Zenneth bloodline meant you were noble and had to act the part, but what did noble mean? The title or the character of the person? People often confused the 2 titles a person could have. His family though was both, noble cause with proper blood to do it.  There was honor, duty and tradition that was handed from generation to generation. It was all gone now and here was Alexander, last of the bloodline to follow the tradition. He however unlike those before him had surrendered tradition and forged his own path not like before. Necessity drove him to this and now there was a stronger man emerged from it. Forged from the fiery pits of hell itself and hammered into shape by his hands and decisions. Now he ran a city in the sky, would his family be proud? Alexander would find out when he is dead.

Aedre was getting a bit curious with his talk about Lacrima and otherwise he kept silent about it. It was not much to say about it, the airship needs Lacrima to be shipped and design its magitech.  The great experiment to see if it was possible to spread magic to everyone by use of technology.  So far it invented a unique society that allowed people to fend for themselves. Only time will tell if it works or not. Alexander stood up and served some stew, “Well Lacrima is part of my guilds experiment. I want to see with an enclosed population whether it was possible to raise the non-mages into magic users. The results are proving interesting, but who is to say that it will work?” He grabbed the bowl and passed the stew to Aedre so she could eat. The dancing fires died out with no more magic energy to sustain them. He was starting to open the door open to her, not be a closed shut in. He was being careful with the information that was given to her. It was not just only for that experiment, it was because of a war he was planning. Alexander asked, “So tell me something. What is your opinion of the Magic Council?” He was testing to see Aedre’s reaction, to whether she was legal, guildless or dark mage. He realized that he really did not know about the companion next him as much as she knew him now. He looked at Aedre with a pair of judging eyes that seemed to have a kindling fire to them. He was paying attention to every word that was spoken. Every single non-verbal communication, almost as if he was looking at your soul.

Hell To Pay | Job | Aedre & Alexander - Page 2 Empty Re: Hell To Pay | Job | Aedre & Alexander

Post by Felicity 1st July 2014, 9:37 am

The woman listened closely to Alexander's answer and without doubt, she was fascinated by the idea. It was something new to Aedre, a foreign concept that she had came upon for the first time in her life. Well, there was no real way that she could think about it herself; for she rarely paid any attention to the people who couldn't control the power of arcane. The only time she came into contact with the non-magical populace was during the missions that she was assigned to or maybe on those strange days that she decided to randomly walk down any path that she came upon. Yes, the woman had a few unusual quirks and habits to her personality, but those were to be rarely showed up to the people around her. Infact, they could hardly figure it out themselves, since the Slayer was covered with a mantle of her own. Most of the times, that is. She was capable enough of being free and approachable when she needed to; like how she was at this moment. Indeed, it made her feel a bit vulnerable, but it was worth the trouble too. The way Aedre was brought up made it really hard on her to trust people, so even making some small-talk was a tough job to handle.
But, coming back to the idea that Alexander just stated, it barely managed to bother her in any way; unlike a few other mages who belonged to the idealogy that suggested that magic is for the chosen ones only.
With a thankful nod of her head, Aedre accepted the bowl of stew that the Demon Slayer passed onto her and stared down into the utensil for a single second- as if trying to ascertain whether it was poisoned or not. But in reality, it was just an astonished gaze; that spoke of her own inability to cook anything that could be called edible.
The woman had barely seen the inside of a kitchen in her entire life, since the food that she consumed nowadays came from sources like restaurants.
With a sigh, she took a little sip of the stew, while listening to the question that Alexander posed infront of her. For a split moment, the woman's pupils dilated with surprise, but she gulped it down just like the stew that she had consumed.
Apparently, the other Slayer wanted to know something about her too and the best thing was- her views.
"If I have to be brutally honest, I despise them and lack even an inch of respect for them... There are several reasons, but the most important being the fact that- the family I spoke of before... has been serving the Council for ages now. To best explain it, the hate rooted from there and it grew to what it is today... fueled by innumerable reasons that I won't even bother to mention." She ended, her tone similar to someone stating the most obvious thing in the world.
"But, to give you the answer that you needed... I'm someone who walks on the darker side of the spectrum." Aedre spoke, as she went ahead with finishing the stew in her bowl.

Hell To Pay | Job | Aedre & Alexander - Page 2 Empty Re: Hell To Pay | Job | Aedre & Alexander

Post by Felicity 30th July 2014, 5:18 am

The revelation was done, so now it was only a question of Alexander's reaction to it. Aedre was well aware of the fact that he led one of the dark guilds, so she pretty much expected him to take this information in the calmest way possible.
But, there was seemingly no reply from the Demon Slayer, for it was getting quiet in the surroundings all of a sudden. The stew in Aedre's bowl was finished and as she proceeded to place it down on the floor- the silence grew even more louder.
She let out an unrestrained chuckle, "Did that just scare you Mister Zenneth?" She questioned, but nearly choked on her breath when the surroundings completely melted off from the periphery of her vision.
The ground, the dark sky and the boiling volcano that laid in front of her just a few seconds ago, had all disappeared in the blink of an eye- to be replaced by utter darkness.
Aedre clenched her teeth together, not being able to completely grasp the situation that she got herself into. Was this the doing of some demon that lurked around and managed to escape Aedre and Alexander's notice?
"Why're you so stubborn child?" A voice echoed and Aedre wasn't even sure if it was something in her head, or could be heard all around. She scrunched up her eyebrows, as her pupils flitted in all the directions, driven by haste and trying to find out the source of the voice.
It had a sense of familiarity to it and this only made the white-haired woman more nervous. Was there any person that she knew... capable of doing something like this? It nearly seemed influenced by mad, godly power. For in her opinion, it really wasn't easy to influence the surroundings or to mess with Aedre's mind.
'Godly... That's the answer.' She quickly concluded within her head, as she managed to pick up courage enough to move and stand on her feet. To any possible onlooker, it would seem as if she was floating in mid-air; a dangerous position to be in... But once you've figured out the identity of the one responsible for such a situation around you- one starts gaining an immense amount of confidence. It was surprising to note that a second ago, she would not have dared to move an inch in any direction- for an endless pit below you and a similar abyss above you is no funny matter... its capable of scaring the hell out of people. But now, the woman knew that she was perfectly safe; perhaps more safe than she previously was.
"What kind of a joke are you playing now... Father?" Aedre questioned out loud, her voice calm and cool- barely showing any kind of fear, since she knew that this guest meant no real harm to her.

Hell To Pay | Job | Aedre & Alexander - Page 2 Empty Re: Hell To Pay | Job | Aedre & Alexander

Post by Felicity 30th July 2014, 9:45 am

Sure, it took Aedre some time to figure out her father's presence from his voice, but now that she was certain- she couldn't help but feel a sharp spot of annoyance in her mind. She wasn't the type who would simply not mind being disturbed while on a job or when trying to complete a task. She had never been able to deal with bothersome behavior in a calm way- for she just didn't take it in the correct way.
"My instructions were clear, weren't they? Was I wrong to believe that you understood the urgency of the matters at hand, Aedre? It was so simple... yet you made it so complicated now." The voice stated, causing the white haired woman to cringe in disagreement.
"Even a spider's web is complicated... yet, that aspect of its creation is what gets the spider its prey--- What I'm trying to say here is a little messy shouldn't always be seen in a negative light."
"In this case, it has to be. Here its not a question of getting a prey- its about so many important things that are put at stake." The voice of Poseidon resounded, within her head or outside; Aedre didn't know- but at the moment, she couldn't care any less. Her facial expression had changed into one of annoyance, without even her own knowledge. This generally meant that the current happenings were not good in any way, for the usually nonchalant expression was indeed the biggest indicator of her calm factor.
"So you came here just for correcting me?" The woman questioned, her voice laced with a tone of disbelief. She found it pretty much ridiculous that the God had to take so much trouble for such a petty reason... Seriously was it that important to save Earthland from an invasion of Adromalech?
If Aedre was to answer that question, 'No.'
For all she cared, people could go to hell and by Adromalech's invasion- that would no longer remain a mere phrase.
"I did come here for that purpose and I've already taken care of it... All I need you to do now is get out of here safely- which I guess, is something that you're capable of doing." Poseidon's voice spoke and the darkness immediately subsided, only to clear away Aedre's vision and causing her let out a deep sigh.
Just an an innate realization, the Slayer knew that she wouldn't hear anymore from her foster parent, so her immediate response was to call out for the person she came here with. She couldn't understand much when Poseidon mentioned that he had taken care of things; for Aedre couldn't understand what she could have even done wrong. At this crucial second, Aedre's mind was just making her believe that each of her actions were precise and to the point; that they would serve a greater purpose in the future and help her in completing this so-called task handed over to her by the Torrent God.

Post by Felicity 31st July 2014, 5:38 am

The problem, however, was not how lost Aedre felt at the moment, but instead, it was the dangerous position that Alexander was standing in. Looking over the cliff and into the depths of the volcano, was what he was doing.
For a single second, Aedre wondered if he had noticed the space-out that she most likely experienced while the small conversation with her foster parent took place. This formed a strange embarrassing feeling to emerge in her mind, but the woman simply shook her head and tried to quickly fight it off.
"Stop enjoying the scene so much, we need to move ahead." She stated, her usual, sarcastic tone of voice acquiring a certain kind of dominance. Right now, she really wanted to just get out of this place- not because Poseidon instructed her to do so... but because of the feeling that the God was ungrateful as all hell. She had just taken up a task on his command, one that nearly threatened her life; only to end up getting a little talk from his side about things that she had done wrong along the way. Honestly, how arrogant could these heavenly rulers get- they aren't as powerful as they pretend to be; or atleast, Aedre didn't think of them as powerful.
Lores spoke of her magic as God Slayer- so there was no visible reason as to why she should ever fear them.
Well, these were things for some other time- for the more important thing for now, was to get Alexander and herself inside this place.
Yes, Aedre was going to disobey her mentor for the second time in her life. The first time hadn't turned out all that great... but she was stubborn enough to make the same mistake once again. The woman had made up her mind to not get out of the Raging Volcano because she had to get rid of the Marilith now and then return back safely. That was the only way of making the God understand the feeling of losing- an all new experience for him.
The Slayer took a step forward, as her lips parted to address the Demon Slayer once again; who had seemingly felt profound love for the lava flowing beneath. There had been no reply from him regarding Aedre's earlier beckon either...
It probably didn't take a second for the event that unfolded next, for Alexander had just thrown himself down the cliff. Aedre's pupils dilated as she mentally screamed in disbelief- her calm and collected aura shattered into a million pieces as the woman ran forth to the edge of the cliff; only to see the limp body of Zenneth being absorbed by the lava.

Hell To Pay | Job | Aedre & Alexander - Page 2 Empty Re: Hell To Pay | Job | Aedre & Alexander

Post by Felicity 1st August 2014, 5:52 am

Was that an illusion? A mere joke? Well, for a moment, Aedre couldn't conclude anything. Her mind seemed to be fuzzy and haywire, not capable of contemplating the events at all. There was no possible way that any sane person could be able to understand that strange action from Alexander's side- if anything he had just pushed himself to his own death. He surely wasn't suicidal all along, was he?
As she stared into the red and orange depths of smoking -hot lava; feeling the heat haze hit her vision, the Slayer's thinking process had seemingly frozen itself against time. She was just blank- like a brand new slate.
However, this condition wouldn't last long, as a strong pang of pain hit her in a certain spot on her back.
Aedre's hand instinctively went to touch it, trying to feel what caused it. It wasn't unbearable or anything, yet it was strong enough to be felt and be worried about.
A sudden surge of magical energy seemed to flow through her veins- causing the woman to be pleasantly surprised, while she scrunched her eyebrows in a mite of confusion.
The pain was like a sharp needle piercing through her skin, but oddly enough, the magical energy had coursed its way through from the very same spot- at the base of Aedre's neck.
The effect was pleasant and this made it really hard for her to doubt its true intentions, for the pain was subsiding at a rapid rate. Besides, the strange arcane energy only made her feel a bit better in terms of physical aspects, so apparently, there would be no reason to worry. Somewhere in the back of her mind, Aedre already formulated that it might be just Poseidon's doing- maybe, just maybe, he was lending some help; which ofcourse Aedre felt that she wouldn't need at all.
With a shake of her head, the Slayer went into a much more calculative thought process. With Alexander down the volcano, she was alone on this little job. It was either just getting out of this place, like her foster parent instructed, or going with her previous (and pretty much; the current) decision.
'Its this time or never again... right?' The white haired woman poured herself into the sea of self-doubts, only to soon float above it and choose an option that she found most perfect.
She let out a simple sigh, before muttering in a low breath, "I'll forever be stubborn, I guess. Going in there. Alone. Regardless of these unspoken warnings from your side." She ended, turning the bright green orbs in the direction of the cave like structure that would lead ahead... To hell.
But hey, even Gods were capable of giving surprise visits to their mortal enemies once in a while, right?

Hell To Pay | Job | Aedre & Alexander - Page 2 Empty Re: Hell To Pay | Job | Aedre & Alexander

Post by Felicity 1st August 2014, 5:55 am

The Torrent God must have sighed in disbelief at the realization that he had unknowingly raised a complete mess of a pupil. Honestly speaking, Aedre seemed to lack even a tiny portion of what one could deem a rational state of mind. In her case, such a concept didn't exist at this point. To any possible witnesses to these events, Aedre might have looked as suicidal as Alexander just did.
As she moved forth, into the dark tunnel-like opening on the other end, the white-haired woman's mind was busy articulating the reasons for her job partner's strange step. It was indeed obvious that Poseidon had something do with it, but how exactly would perhaps remain an eternal mystery. The Slayer didn't have any idea whatsoever on the workings or the powers in the hands of these so called Gods.
However, there was one fact that stopped her from being bothered too much about this ordeal- that Alexander was the Flame Demon Slayer. It was only a few minutes ago that she came upon this realization and it certainly did life a spot of worry from her mind. Yes, she was supposed to kill him in the first place. Yet, she had ended up making a deal with him and Aedre was really a woman of her words. That is, if she really meant those words.
Well, it felt like her logic would make sense; since someone who wielded fire would be pretty much impervious to any kind of high temperatures. Perhaps, the man wasn't dead like anyone expected him to.
The woman let out a sigh, her boots echoing on the volcaninc rock floor beneath; sounding as hollow as her mind felt... and there was a good reason for this state. Often she sat and pondered the turmoil she could feel when her blades were at rest, when all the world around her seemed to be at peace. That is the supposed ideal for which other mages strove, the calm that they all hoped will eventually return to them when they are at war against mages like Aedre. She opposed them, she worked hard to not let them see the calm of the day that they dreamed about and she also succeeded at this task most of the times. Yet, there had been rare occurrences indeed in the more than a single decades of her life that she did not feel as if she had found any kind of perfection, but, rather, as if something was missing from her life.
It seemed such an incongruous notion, and yet she couldn't completely grasp that she was a warrior; a creature of action. In those times when there is no pressing need for action, she could not be at ease. Not at all.
This, might be the only possible reason as to why Aedre could have set herself on this perilous road herself; her pathetic need for some kind of a challenge that actually proed to be a challenge. Probably, risking her life came as a simple way out of the utter simpleness that her life was drowning into.
But, these thoughts were left in the air- when a chilling, low, growl sounded right in front of her and just as an instinctive response, the woman's pose refined itself- shifting from grace to intimidation necessary for a battle.
"So, you little puppies are back?"

Hell To Pay | Job | Aedre & Alexander - Page 2 Empty Re: Hell To Pay | Job | Aedre & Alexander

Post by Felicity 5th August 2014, 2:03 am

Four hellhounds and one of those strangely dressed men had appeared before Aedre, causing a thin line of annoyance to spread across her features. If anything, she was simply hoping to meet the so-called anchor that Alexander had mentioned back in the bar at Talonia. That would've made this job much less messier and sort-of; to the point. To get rid of whatever kind of monster she would face in the name of this anchor was her main aim afterall.
The dual-swords would appear in Aedre's hands once again, as her decision to rely on her forever trusty blades was etched in stone for the current situation. It would only be a waste of magical energy, if she had to use any of her powers on such lowly minions.
"I must defeat you at any cost woman." The single man declared, as flames sprung to life on the stone all around Aedre, "And send you to the swirling clouds of hell!"
The white-haired woman's brow raised up in a sarcastic manner, "You seem to be rather... confused, Mister. Send me to hell you say? For the sake of information- I come from hell itself." She stated, taking up a gentle battle stance.
However, the man didn't reply, instead the flames around the Slayer soared higher and stronger and the seething look on his face was clearly visible.
She was already nearly overwhelmed by the heat of the fire that the man wielded and the brightness of the flames stung her sensitive eyes so that the bulk of the man seemed only the dulled blur of a shadow. She saw the darkness extend to the man's right and knew that he had raised some terrible sword. She moved to defend, but suddenly the man lurched to the side and roared in surprise and outrage.
Th next assortment of events were sudden, there was a loud shriek- something similar to an eagle's and it didn't even take a single heartbeat for Aedre to recognize the help that had so generously; arrived at last.
'Leaving without me you insolent fool! Atleast understand what situations are actually safe for you.' The familiar and soothing voice of Orel echoed within Aedre's head, causing a gentle smile to break on her face; regardless of her condition and the tone of his speaking.
At the same time, the woman's sight improved slightly; her eyes were trying to adapt to the bright light and the strange, uncomfortable warmth that actually seemed to sting. It looked as if one of the hellhounds had decided to take the perfect opportunity and tried to pounce on Aedre before the man did. However, Orel had appeared just then- in his mighty battle form, standing nearly six feet tall and having latched an arm around the hellhound's neck. The huge beast held the hellhound at arm's length, trying to pin the wolf between his forearm and the rock wall to keep the tearing claws and teeth away from some vital area.
As Aedre watched this, her eyes straining a bit- a many thonged whip lashed out at the woman's legs, too quickly for her, as she was still reeling from the sudden burst of brightness of the flames; to deflect the blow or dodge aside. The man jerked the handle as the thongs tangled about the slender legs and ankles, his substantial strength easily dropping the woman to her back.
