Primary Magic: Forgotten Art; True Dragon Slayer
Secondary Magic: N/A
Caster or Holder: Caster and Holder
Kylar's magic is one that has been long forgotten, from the days when dragons ruled the skies and the land. Before Dragonkind bestowed their magic upon man there were men already trained to slay the beasts. These men were the first Dragon Slayers or 'Dragoons' as they were sometimes known. Each man possessed phenomenal strength, tempered through years of non-stop training to protect their homelands from the destructive forces of the Dragons. What is lesser known is that very few of these men had a considerable amount of magical potential stored in their bodies. Those men were able to tap into this well of magical prowess and combine it with their already devastating abilities to become what was then referred to as 'True Dragon Slayers'; men believed to have been born to protect their people from the 'monsters' that wreaked havoc upon man. Kylar Lawton is the last in what is believed to be the last remaining line of True Dragon Slayers.
True Dragon Slayer magic is essentially the art of slaying an opponent - usually a dragon of course - with flurries of attacks and combinations that are generally unrivaled by any other specialised warrior of its time. The main component of the style is mostly physical, using weapons in the same way any other Dragon Slayer would. However, by combining Kylar's magical energy with his already terrific physical techniques, he is able to give himself and his attacks a variety of 'buffs' to make his job that little bit easier - and terrify his foe that little bit more. The magic allows Kylar to attack relentlessly without needing to take a break to breathe all too often.
True Dragon Slayer magic is a very aggressive magic, thus is perfect for slaying dragons. Kylar deals 50% more damage when fighting against a dragon of any type or element.
The magic allows Kylar to buff his own body in a variety of ways, whether it be increasing his speed, bulking up his durability to reduce damage taken, or boosting his strength to insane levels. These support options mean that he is able to stand alone against even the most formidable of opposition.
Kylar's self-support magic does not require him to be wielding a weapon, meaning he can cast the spells even before he draws his blade.
'The best defence is a good offence'. While this might be true in some cases, Kylar actually lacks many defensive options due to the nature of his magic. Kylar takes an extra 50% of an attack's damage if he is struck by a single target spell or attack.
While the magic is great for buffing oneself, it has absolutely no support options for allies - it's unknown if the magic was always this way, or if Kylar simply never bothered with it.
The magic has very few spells that carry elemental aspects, meaning it generally does not deal any bonus damage to opponents of specific elements.
Almost all of Kylar's offensive based spells require him to be wielding a weapon, and so are absolutely useless if Kylar is unarmed.
Greater Hearing - Through years of practice and meditation Kylar has developed an almost unparalleled level of hearing. His hearing is 50% better than the untrained ear of other humans.
Longsight - As a Dragon Slayer Kylar has learned that in order to take out a dragon, you must be able to see it and target it faster than it can do the same to you. Thus he has trained to pick out even the smallest flicker of movement in the distance. His eyesight is 80% better than the untrained eyes of other human beings.

- Ascalon Abilities:
- Wing Clipper:
- Name: Wing Clipper
Rank: C
Type: Wind Support
Description: Kylar holds Ascalon out in front of him horizontally in both hands and flows his magic power through to it. Once sufficient power is stored in the spear, he turns it vertical and thrusts it into the air. The winds beckon to the call of Ascalon and target flying threats, creating winds around their wings that are so powerful that the foes are forced to the ground.
Strengths:
- Grounds any flying opposition for four posts, making it easier for Kylar to unleash his attacks on them.
- As a result of crashing to the ground, the target(s) are left disoriented for one post.
- If a target is struck twice by Wing Clipper in the same thread then they are left grounded for six posts the second time.
Weaknesses:
- The spell deals no actual damage to the target(s) on its own.
- A wind based spell of equal or higher rank will completely neutralise the spell, rendering it useless.
- Kylar cannot cast any other spells while performing this spell, nor can he protect himself from incoming attacks. Doing so will cancel the spell.
Duration/Cooldown: Effects last for 4 posts with a 4 post cooldown
- Echoes of a Saint:
- Name: Echoes of a Saint
Rank: B
Type: Ranged Offence
Description: Kylar holds Ascalon like a javelin and passes his magic through it before launching it through the air. Midway through travel Ascalon will generate a copy of itself, travelling at the same speed in precisely the same direction, thus dealing double damage to a target. Kylar can throw the spear up to 100 metres, with it travelling at 40 meters per second.
Strengths:
- The spell has considerable range for taking out targets from long distances
- Due to the 'Echo' - the replicated Ascalon - the spell is capable of dealing A-rank damage if both spears meet their mark.
- Kylar is able to call Ascalon back to his hand once it strikes the opponent, ensuring he doesn't have to try to obtain it in a more dangerous manner.
Weaknesses:
- Kylar is unable to call back Ascalon while it is in mid-flight, thus this spell is best used in a one-on-one scenario.
- Although Ascalon travels at a reasonable speed, its range means that if a target is on the further end of the 100 metre range then the spell becomes easier to dodge.
- A higher ranked Wind based spell can knock Ascalon off-course, preventing it from dealing as much damage or indeed any damage at all.
Duration/Cooldown:
Instant duration with a 4 post cooldown.
- D-rank:
- Slayers Commitment:
Name: Slayers Commitment
Rank: D
Type: Support
Description: A magic circle appears beneath Kylar and releases waves of magical energy up his body for two seconds before the magic circle disappears. The magical energy gives Kylar a 50% boost in speed and strength for a short time.
Strengths:
- 50% boost in speed allows Kylar to keep up with or even outspeed faster foes for a short time.
- 50% boost in strength allows Kylar to deal 50% extra damage with each of his attacks. It also allows him to throw Ascalon further than normal (up to 75 meters instead of 50 meters).
- The spell takes little time to cast, and does not require Kylar to be holding Ascalon to use it.
Weaknesses:
- The spell gives absolutely no defensive buffs.
- The duration is fairly short, meaning Kylar must make as much use of the three post duration as possible.
- The spell does not deal any damage to an opponent, and thus the opponent is able to interrupt and/or hit Kylar as he's casting or just as the spell finishes casting.
- Slayers Commitment has no utility outside of combat.
Duration/Cooldown:
Duration of 3 posts with a 4 post cooldown.
- Reverse Callback:
Name: Reverse Callback
Rank: D
Type: Support
Description: As a rule Ascalon would be called back to Kylar once it hits the ground. However, by keeping his magical energy linked to Ascalon, Kylar is able to 'jump' to where Ascalon lands - similar to teleportation - thus reversing the callback ability of his weapon.
Strengths:
- The spell allows a method of quick movement across the battlefield.
- Reverse Callback can be used to put Kylar into a more advantageous situation, such as closer to a distant enemy to deal more damage at a faster rate.
- As the rule of Ascalon's callback is being reversed, it can take a regular opponent by surprise if they expect Kylar to recall the spear as normal.
Weaknesses:
- Deals no damage to the opponent.
- If an attack is launched at Ascalon while Kylar is in motion, he is highly likely to be struck by the attack once he materializes, with no chance to block or defend himself in any way.
- Kylar is unable to use this spell if Ascalon is beyond 50 meters away (for example, if Ascalon is thrown while Kylar is boosted by 'Slayers Commitment').
- Kylar is unable to use this spell in swift repeat succession, as even a man of his physical ability would be unable to keep himself balanced in swift changes of terrain and direction.
Duration/Cooldown:
Instant use with a 5 post cooldown.
- Condemnation:
Name: Condemnation
Rank: D
Type: Darkness/Support
Description: Kylar plants Ascalon into the ground and closes his eyes, before summoning forth every ounce of darkness he can muster. He then opens his eyes and projects the darkness to his surroundings, plunging a 50 meter radius (100 meter diameter) around him into pure darkness with only darklight visible to see the surroundings. Ascalon also gains the darkness attribute while this spell is active.
Strengths:
- Ascalon gains the Darkness attribute, which deals extra damage to Holy and Light based opposition.
- The surroundings become so dark that there is very little light, putting any opposition that requires light at a disadvantage.
- The sudden change of light will disorientate a foe and temporarily leave them blinded (1 post, exception for foes of the dark attribute).
Weaknesses:
- Deals no actual damage.
- Foes with the dark attribute will thrive in the darkened environment. Kylar takes 25% extra damage from dark attacks.
- Dark Demon/Dragon slayers can easily inhale the darkness and end the spell.
- This effects of this spell are completely invisible to those outside of its range after the initial casting, thus any ranged opponent can see perfectly clearly through the darkness.
Duration/Cooldown:
3 post duration with a 5 post cooldown.
- Benediction:
Name: Benediction
Rank: D
Type: Light/Support
Description: Kylar raises Ascalon into the air and closes his eyes, before summoning forth every ounce of light he can muster. He then opens his eyes and projects the light to his surroundings, dazzling a 50 meter radius (100m diameter) around him into brilliant light with only very small shadows visible. Ascalon also gains the light attribute while this spell is active.
Strengths:
- Ascalon gains the Light attribute, which deals extra damage to dark based opposition.
- The surroundings become so bright that there are very few, small shadows in the vicinity. This leaves foes that require darkness to be at a disadvantage.
- The sudden blast of light will disorientate a foe and temporarily leave them blinded (1 post, exception for light based foes).
Weaknesses:
- Deals no actual damage.
- Foes with the light attribute will thrive in the brightened environment. Kylar takes 25% extra damage from light attacks.
- Light God/Dragon slayers can easily inhale the light and end the spell.
- This effects of this spell are completely invisible to those outside of its range after the initial casting, thus any ranged opponent can see perfectly clearly through the light.
Duration/Cooldown:
3 post duration with a 5 post cooldown.
- C-rank:
- Disperse Shield:
Name: Disperse Shield
Rank: C
Type: Defence
Description: Kylar puts his left hand out in front of him and creates a small white magic circle that then expands before creating a barrier in front of him. The barrier is transparent, and disperses any incoming single target spell as it strikes it.
Strengths:
- The shield completely disperses any single C-rank or lower spell that targets Kylar specifically, regardless of element. The shield is also able to reduce damage taken by B-rank spells by 50% by dispersing a portion of it.
- Kylar is able to cast this spell while unarmed, thus allowing to protect himself should someone attempt a surprise attack.
- Disperse Shield is one of only a handful of defensive spells that Kylar possesses, thus making it an invaluable asset in one-on-one scenarios.
Weaknesses:
- The Disperse Shield is useless on AoE spells.
- As the barrier is strictly magical, physical attacks that are not magically boosted will pass straight through it, rendering the barrier completely useless.
- Kylar is unable to attack while he has the barrier up.
- An outright B-rank hit will break the shield in one blow and deal damage, albeit reduced damage.
Duration/Cooldown:
Immediate one post use with a 3 post cooldown.
- Blood for Blood:
Name: Blood for Blood
Rank: C
Type: Support
Description: This spell cannot be used unless Kylar has lost at least 40% of his maximum HP. The sight of his own blood causes Kylar to dig deep and a burning desire to annihilate his foe is set alight. By casting this spell he removes all inhibitions and focuses on dealing as much damage to his target as his body will allow him, allowing him to double his damage output. However by doing so he is unlikely to notice attacks coming at him, thus causing him to take a further 50% damage from physical and single target attacks (double damage when combined with his already naturally lowered defences).
Strengths:
- Blood for Blood gives Kylar a massive boost to his physical damage output.
- While the spell is active Kylar is unable to feel any pain, thus is unhindered by damage dealt to him unless it would take his HP to 0.
- The spell gives Kylar the chance to release a burst of energy and damage that would likely surprise an unwary opponent.
Weaknesses:
- Although he doesn't feel it, Kylar is highly likely to suffer substantial damage throughout the duration of this spell as a result of the lowered defences.
- While in this state Kylar doesn't consider the opponents movements as clearly as he normally would, and thus he is more likely to fall into any traps that the foe plots out.
- Kylar must have lost AT LEAST 40% HP before this spell can be used, thus is best used in more dire situations or to finish a job rather than on a whim.
- When this spell ends Kylar will feel the full brunt of the damage dealt to him all at once, potentially causing him to become momentarily stunned (1 post if damage dealt is above 30%).
Duration/Cooldown:
2 post duration with a 3 post cooldown.
- Brute Force:
Name: Brute Force
Rank: C
Type: Offence/Support
Description: Kylar swings Ascalon up from the bottom and then brings the butt of the spear crashing down on the opponents head, then into the opponents gut and, with magical force, shoves the foe back 10 meters. The entire spell deals a total of C-rank damage (two D-rank strikes) and the smack upon the head will cause the target's ears to ring and their head to spin for a short time.
Strengths:
- The first strike disorientates the foe by causing their ears to ring and their head to spin from the impact for 1 post. This also ensures that the second strike will hit the target.
- The gut strike pushes the opponent back, giving Kylar room to adjust himself and consider his next action.
- As the butt of the spear weighs slightly more than the blade, Kylar can easily combo onto another attack if either of the strikes miss.
Weaknesses:
- If the first strike misses then the spell ends outright
- As Kylar is using the blunt end of the spear there is no blood shed, and thus no demoralising features of the spell.
- Any mage of A-rank or above is immune to the disorientation.
- If the second strike misses then the spell is dealing damage lower than the rank of the actual spell.
Duration/Cooldown:
1 post duration with a 3 post cooldown.
- B-rank:
- Underbelly Strike:
Name: Underbelly Strike
Rank:B
Type: Offence/Debuff
Description: Everybody knows that a Dragon's underbelly is the softest part, but what people fail to remember is that this goes for every creature. Kylar delivers a magically boosted left-handed punch to an opponents gut that deals C-rank damage. The magical energy then flows through the target and reduces their defences by 50% for a short time.
Strengths:
- The punch delivers reasonable damage while also lowering the targets defences by 50% for 3 posts
- As Kylar is using his weaker left hand to deliver the punch, he can follow up immediately with his stronger right hand (and Ascalon) to take immediate advantage of the foes drop in defences.
- The underbelly strike is one of only a few spells that do not require Kylar to be holding a weapon to deal damage.
Weaknesses:
- Kylar's left hand is weaker than his right, thus the damage dealt is considerably lower than his other B-rank spells.
- This spell requires Kylar to be close to the opponent, meaning he will be putting himself at risk of a powerful close-range strike when he uses it.
- The punch itself MUST make contact in order to pass the magical energy through the foe's body. Being blocked by a shield or knocked away will not suffice.
- Kylar is unable to repeatedly channel magic through his fist in an offensive manner, thus this spell must be used sparingly and only at the absolute best opportunity to ensure maximum success.
Duration/Cooldown:
The punch is instant with a 6 post cooldown.
- Bloodlust:
Name: Bloodlust
Rank: B
Type: Support/Healing
Description: This spell can only be cast if Kylar has already dealt damage to his opponent, and only takes effect when he strikes opponents of equal or higher rank. Having dealt damage Kylar can sense the weakened state of his opponent and goes in for the kill. At the end of the duration Kylar gains HP equal to the damage he dealt to his opponent (capped at his maximum HP). However he uses 5% extra MP for each spell and attack he uses that is above C-rank.
Strengths:
- Bloodlust allows Kylar a method of self-healing.
- The spell gives Kylar a way of holding his own against higher-ranked magi.
- Kylar's health regeneration is equal to the damage he deals, thus the more damage his opponent takes, the more health Kylar regains.
Weaknesses:
- As a result of Kylar using his magic to heal his wounds, he unintentionally expends more 5% MP than usual when casting his more powerful spells.
- Bloodlust is completely useless if Kylar is fighting against opponents of lower rank than himself, regardless of the number of foes he may be facing (eg. fighting 2 or more B-ranks would not equate A+-rank while Bloodlust is active).
- Kylar does not receive the HP until Bloodlust has expired, thus if he's defeated before the spell ends then he will not be healed.
- Kylar is ill-advised to use any buffing/debuffing spells throughout the duration of this spell, as it would likely reduce the HP recuperation he could otherwise obtain. Furthermore Kylar will not recuperate nearly as much HP without those buffs/debuffs and so if he doesn't cast those spells beforehand then the spell will not be used to its maximum potential.
Duration/Cooldown:
4 posts with a 6 post cooldown.
- Haemorrhage:
Name: Haemorrhage
Rank: B
Type: Offence
Description: Kylar performs a lightning fast slash with surgical precision, cutting open an opponents vein without them being aware of it. The attack itself deals no significant damage at first, nor does it inflict pain. Over time however the opponent will begin to feel weaker as blood seeps from the wound, dealing C-rank damage every post for 3 posts and halving their attack damage for the duration.
Strengths:
- The opponent won't feel the cut when Ascalon strikes, thus will be unaware of the damage until they're already bleeding out.
- The opponent suffers from C-rank damage every post for 3 posts, significantly weakening them and lowering their attack output for a total of 5 posts.
- This attack is undodgeable and almost unblockable with exception to specified defensive spells.
Weaknesses:
- The spell deals no initial damage, thus the opponent won't feel the effects for a short while.
- Haemorrhage only lower the opponents attack output. It does not lower any other stat.
- An opponent with armor above Legendary rank is immune to this attack.
- The wound is noticed once the first C-rank damage is dealt, and thus it can be healed with any type of healing magic.
Duration/Cooldown:
5 post duration with a 6 post cooldown.
- A-rank:
- Age-long Wrath of the Dragon Slayers:
Name: Age-long Wrath of the Dragon Slayers
Rank: A
Type: Offence
Description: Kylar wills up a massive amount of magical energy and time seems to slow as he delivers a flurry of jabs at a seemingly impossible speed. He then completes the spell with a ferocious slash. The jabs together deal B-rank damage with the slash dealing A-rank damage.
Strengths:
- Deals a large amount of damage to a single target.
- When combined with other spells in Kylar's arsenal, this spell can be truly devastating either by being buffed or by having the foe debuffed.
- The speed at which the spell is used makes it incredibly difficult to dodge or block.
Weaknesses:
- The spell requires Kylar to have cast Slayer's Commitment and Underbelly Strike - as well as Wing Clipper on flying foes - before it can be used, as these give Kylar immense speed and ensure the opponent is kept on the ground respectively.
- The spell is aimed at a single target, and thus any other enemies in the vicinity can take advantage and strike Kylar.
- Kylar MUST be wielding Ascalon in order to use this attack. No other weapon would be able to cope with the movements, nor would they reach far enough.
- A particularly fast opponent would be able to counter Kylar's speed with their own speed, thus potentially dodging this attack or even hitting with an attack of their own.
Duration/Cooldown:
Instant use with a 5 post cooldown.
- True Slayer Art; Fang Drop:
Name: True Slayer Art; Fang Drop
Rank: A
Type: Offence
Description: Kylar uses his magic to lunge high into the air and suspend himself momentarily above his target. He then propels himself at extraordinary speed to strike the opponent with all his might. If struck the opponent is dealt A-rank damage, as well as C-rank damage every post for 3 posts. The target is also left momentarily disorientated due to the impact.
Strengths:
- Fast and powerful attack that deals considerable damage and negative effects on the target.
- Damage over time effect means that the initial damage isn't the only concern for the target if they're struck.
- While in the air, Kylar is immune to earth based or close-range spells.
Weaknesses:
- Due to the nature of the spell, it is difficult for Kylar to land the attack without casting debuff spells on the opponent or buffing spells on himself.
- Being struck by a spell while he is suspended in the air will knock Kylar to the ground, thus ending the casting and suffering damage.
- Kylar MUST have Ascalon wielded to cast this spell. No other weapon will suffice.
- Kylar CANNOT cast another spell in the same post as this one.
Duration/Cooldown:
1 post duration (requires the entire post) with a 5 post cooldown.
