The Rarest Flower (Cyrus Kuma)

He walked through the forest where he was doing his most recent job. Looking at the picture he was given by the employer, he could tell he was no where near where the flower was located. The picture showed a clearing in which the flower in question ran wild. Cyrus didn't see that anywhere near him, but he could see menacing yellow eyes staring at him from some shrubbery nearby.

"Watch out for the wolves," the employer, the head of a medicine company, had told him.

"Wolves?" Cyrus had questioned.

The medicine man nodded, "There are some vicious wolves in the Spooky Forest. That's why none of us have gone to get the flower."

"No problem," Cyrus had said, "I've had a lot of experience with wild animals."

Now he wasn't so sure however. Although some seemed to be fairly average wolves, a couple appeared quite powerful. I wonder if they'd dare.

Well that answers that question. Two wolves jumped at him from the bushes. He drew the Big Cutter and swung at the wild beasts. While he wasn't looking, a wolf had leapt out and attacked his flank with it's claws, then another threw itself at his leg, chomping down ferociously. He kicked as hard as he could, sending the wolf off his calf, but the beast easily landed on all four paws, undamaged. "Look guys, we can do this the easy way or the hard way." Three of the wolves, including the two he had hit with his sword were snarling at him. The fourth letting out a bark towards the mages direction. "That's a real shame, I thought you guys would've realized that I'm stronger than four regular wolves can handle." He had to give it to them. Most animals would back down when presented with someone like Cyrus. These wolves had guts.

'Monster Dice' :

"To bad though, you're done," He brought the hilt of his sword down on one wolf's head, knocking it out cold. He then lifted the blade to bring it down on the other wolf, but it dodged and swiped at his left calf. Then the third wolf took the opportunity to attack, slicing his other calf. His legs were quite torn up at this point, causing him to collapse to his knees. These wolves were actually using strategy in their assault. "Jeez you guys," he said as he started to stand up, "you really don't get it." The fourth wolf lunged at Cyrus, but immediately regretted it's decision as he held up his hand, beginning to cast his spell. "Cloud Make: Whip" he said, launching his attack into the wolfs mouth and sending him flying. The other wolves looked on in shock that their opponent was a mage. "I told you that I'm more than you can handle."

Current Status:

He snapped his wrist this way and that throwing the wolf around until it flew off the end of his whip and into a tree, collapsing from the damage it took. The whip then dispersed into the air. While Cyrus was busy attacking the other one, a wolf had leapt towards him, but when it's teeth met with the boy, it couldn't make contact. "Cloud Make: Distraction," the boy laughed while he watched the wolf angrily attack his fake body. The mage then prepared his next attack, "Cloud Make: Halberd," the remaining wolf then sliced his back, sending sharp pain through Cyrus' body. "Oh, you're gonna wish you hadn't done that," grimaced the boy whose weapon was almost done materializing. He felt the pain that was inflicted by these wolves, but it was nowhere near his last mission. These were small fry, and they were almost done in this relatively short amount of time. Cyrus began to think about how varied enemies power could be while his weapon finished forming. He then turned to face the wolf that had attacked him.

Current Status:

He swung the blade, cutting the side of the wolf who had clawed him, sending him running away whimpering. "I'm not showing mercy now, I hope you know," he said looking at the last wolf. He was now walking cautiously towards the mage, after figuring out that he was attacking a fake. The wolf began barking. "I'm not sure what you're trying to say, but just so you know, it's over with your next move."

The wolf clearly had no clue what the mage was saying. Either way it lunged at him. Cyrus quickly brought up his Halberd, thrusting its pole into the wolves mouth, keeping it from moving forward any farther. The wolf furiously bit down, but it made no progress in breaking the weapon. Cyrus then threw it backwards into a nearby tree. The battered wolf made one last attempt to slash him, which landed on his cheek. Cyrus cringed and wiped the blood. He then made a quick swipe at the wolf, slicing it on the tail. As the wolf ran away it let out a loud howl. The former nomad quite easily recognized that type of howl. He was calling for help. The bushes behind Cyrus started to rustle and out came a massive dire wolf then 10 foot beast appeared to be the source of incredible strength that Cyrus had earlier sensed. "You're the strongest wolf eh? Well then, this should get interesting," Cyrus said smiling.

'Monster Dice' :

The wolf lunged at him, Cyrus swiftly rolled out of the way, smiling he gripped the shaft of his weapon, preparing to swing. Before he could act however, the wolf disappeared. Cyrus then felt blood trickle down his shoulder. Looking he saw that the beast had sunk it's massive fangs in his shoulder. "Get off you bastard!" shouted the mage as he swung his Halberd up, striking the wolf in the head, launching it off his shoulder. The wolf swiped, and scraped Cyrus' chest, while Cyrus lunged again to slash the wolf once more. The wolf began to swiftly circle the mage, as they eyed each other, both wondering what the next move would be. He's fast, and he's strong. The ultimate wolf. Now this is a fight. Cyrus thought. Never before in all of his wandering days had the mage seen such power coming from a wild wolf. He got more and more excited with each round that the wolf took around him. Preparing to give everything he had to fight this beast.

Current Status:

The wolf took another lunge at the mage, but Cyrus was prepared that time. He sidestepped and held out his blade, letting the beast run against it's sharp edge. The beast whimpered in pain, before retaliating with a snap that tore through Cyrus' jacket, leaving two large slashes in his side. "Like I'm going to let you get away with that," said the Cloud-Make mage as he swung his blade forward. Slicing the wolf once more. The beast slashed the weapon, which dispersed into the air. "Cloud Make: Shark," Cyrus said preparing his spell. The wolf once again made circles around the boy. The wolf eyed the boy whose own eyes were closed in intense focus. The wolf then made a lunge, intending to kill the target, when another figure appeared, stopping the wolf and forcing it to take a step back. Cyrus opened his eyes. "Now the real fun begins. Your target is the wolf. Strike him down!" Cyrus commanded his shark as the wolf eyed the new cloudy, finned foe.

Current Status:

Cyrus drew his sword as he prepared to attack with his shark. The wolf lunged once more landing another hit across the mage's chest before it was tackled into a nearby tree by the shark. Cyrus' one dynamic make was turning out to be an excellent choice for this battle. It was almost like fighting with a partner, albeit the partner being a non-sentient cloud being. "I don't excel in dynamic makes, but as you can clearly see I'm not horrible at them either," Cyrus said to the wolf.

The wolf snarled at him, but couldn't move from the shark's hold against him. The weight of the two animals must have been to much though, as the tree snapped. The wolf, now free, took it's chance and slashed wildly at Cyrus, but only landed two hits. Cyrus retaliated with a swift swipe of his sword. The shark once again attacked the wolf, biting it while the wolf rammed against a tree knocking off the shark. This battle was starting to get heated.

Current Status:

The wolf was now in a fighting frenzy. Battered and beat up almost as much as Cyrus was he began to charge at Cyrus. The cloud shark swam through the air biting it's shoulder, but the beast no longer cared. It was out for Cyrus' blood. It began a flurry of teeth and claw. First, it swiped thrice at Cyrus, only landing once. Then it bit down on his left forearm. Finally it struck Cyrus with another slice, cutting his stomach. Cyrus was in extremely bad condition. He could feel how weak he was after that onslaught, and knew that he couldn't take any more damage. As the wolf prepared another strike at the mage he took a step back. "Cloud Make: Distraction!" he shouted as he dodged the attack and let the wolf deal with the fake. The wolf continued it's vicious onslaught on the cloud fake until the shark slammed into it, dissipating into the air. Cyrus then charged headfirst at the beast while it did the same. "Now let's end this," he whispered as two attempted to strike each other. Cyrus managed to dodge his opponents claw, but the beast was too big to maneuver around the blade. A cut down his flank and the beast collapsed. Cyrus, panting, bloody, and battered, made his way down the path into a large clearing. At the center was a patch of yellow flowers which he bent down to pick before making his way back down the path. "Good fight wolf, you're strong. Let's go again sometime," he said as he passed the tired body of the heavily breathing beast on his way back to his employer.

Final Status:

As he arrived back at the medicine hut, the owner came out to greet him. Seeing the bloody condition Cyrus was in a concerned look grew over the man's face. "Wizard, you're hurt!"

"It's nothing," Cyrus replied calmly as he handed the medicine man the flowers that he had requested.

"Those wolves must have given you some trouble. I can make medicine with these flowers right now to fix you up, just wait here a second," replied the owner as he handed Cyrus his 2000 jewel reward before running into his shop.

The mage turned around and started to head back to Lamia Scale. He passed by two young women who were heading the medicine shop's way. "You going in there?"

"Yes, why?" one of them replied.

He smiled as he gave his reason, "Just tell the old man thanks, and sorry that I couldn't stick around. I have more work to do."
