Dressed in a suit of ornate crystal armor that came from an anime show called Blade Of The Crystal Champion and was a reasonably accurate reproduction of the Crystal Champion's armor, Leonidas had chosen that outfit because he really liked the "knight in shining armor" aesthetic and it came in a size that fit him perfectly. He had not been able to buy the sword, though. He had put off costume shopping until the last minute and for some odd reason the store he had gotten the armor from did not stock the sword that went with the armor... not that he was upset by that. The sword would have had to stay at home because the crowds were so thick that he ran the risk of hitting someone if he turned around while carrying it because it was a large two-handed sword.

Even without the sword Leonidas was right at home with the other costumed festival attendees, who were too busy doing their own thing to call him out on a missing costume component. Everywhere the scar-faced mage looked he saw Halloween decorations such as black and orange banners hanging from lampposts and buildings, smiling jack-o-lanterns on doorsteps and lining the streets, paper skeletons taped onto the fronts of doors, and other appropriate decorations placed throughout the city. Decorations were not the only thing that caught Leonidas' attention, though.

He saw a lot of costumes that drew his eye. He saw quite a few people he believed to dressed as anime characters from "magical girl" series and "shonen" series that he did not know the name of. He also saw a few people in martial arts attire who might have been dressed as video game characters. In addition to anime and video game characters, Leonidas also saw more mundane costumes like pirates, fairy tale princes and princesses, a few doctors and nurses, and even a disturbingly good zombie costume worn by a young man who had expertly applied makeup in just the right colors on his face and arms that was almost a perfect match for the coloration of zombie skin.

After getting over the surprise of seeing the person wearing the zombie costume Leonidas continued to walk through Capital Crocus while looking at the decorations and the costumed people all around him. During his wandering he eventually spotted a large white sandwich board sign with orange letters that listed the various activities festival attendees could participate in. The scar-faced mage read the sign and saw that he had several options to choose from.

The activity that first caught his attention was the one called Witch's Brew. He would have to find out what that involved before he committed to doing it, but he was sure that he could find out once he got to the area the activity took place in. Leonidas looked at the sign one last time to learn the direction that he was supposed to go to get to the Witch's Brew area, then waited for the right time to join a crowd of costumed people heading in the direction of the activity. He was not sure if they too wanted to participate in the activity or were on the way to do something else, but he would follow the crowd until he got to his destination.

After a bit of walking through the milling festival crowd Leonidas had finally gotten to the Witch's Brew area, which was manned by a young blue-eyed blonde woman with waist-length blonde hair wearing a black witch's hat and black witch outfit consisting of a short black dress that showed more than a little leg and a black cape to complete the look. it was obvious that she was going for a "hot witch" look... not that Leonidas minded. She was stirring a cauldron of something with a long wooden stick when she looked up and noticed him standing close by.

"Hey handsome, wanna try some of the Witch's Brew?" The witch asked the scar-faced mage while reaching for something placed just behind the cauldron.

"Yes, please." Leonidas replied. The young woman wordlessly grabbed the object and pulled it out from behind the cauldron to reveal a plastic bottle. She dipped it into the cauldron and held it there for a few seconds before pulling it out. The liquid within was pink.

"Here you go!" She said cheerfully. Leonidas took the bottle and turned away, then drank the liquid. It had a pleasant strawberry taste that was mild and pleasing. When he was finished with the bottle he looked down to find that he had changed quite a bit.

He was still the same height, but had grown large breasts and his body now looked like a woman's!

Leonidas was aghast at his/her new appearance. He had not been expecting this to happen and was at a total loss for words. At least his armor costume had not been damaged and was covering everything... that was a mercy for which the scar-faced mage was thankful. If the armor had been damaged by the sudden change he would have been even more embarrassed than he already was.

"Oh my, a tall blonde woman! You're quite the catch!" The witch commented on the blond mage's new appearance. Leonidas was still too stunned to speak as the witch sashayed over to him, grabbed his right hand and turned it up, and placed a token with a prominent skull on both sides into the palm of his right hand. She then turned on her heels and sashayed back over to the cauldron, where she resumed stirring the contents of the cauldron with a small smile on her face.

Leonidas was left with a new body and no words for what had just happened. The mage turned and began to walk away from the Witch's Brew area as calmly as he could. On the outside he looked more than a little perturbed, but on the inside the mage was utterly horrified and had only one question on his mind.

How long would the gender change last?

After his punch-induced transformation from man to woman the newly transformed Leonidas had endured the humiliation of several men and a few women whistling at "her" as the mage walked among a crowd on his way to an activity called Coffin Up Candy. He was dismayed by men hitting on him, but he was also somewhat amused that it took transforming into a woman for women to find him attractive. In his new form the facial scar appeared to be no obstacle to attracting women.

It was sad that it took him being transformed into a woman for women to find him attractive.

He was wondering what to call his new form as he walked. Was he Leena? Or Leonora? He had no idea... he hoped that this gender change was just a temporary thing. Those concerns were cast aside when he saw a tall, slender bald man who must have been an event staff member dressed in a black suit and wearing a black hat manning a table with three small coffins sitting on it. The mage had reached the Coffin Up Candy area.

"Hey lady, wanna try your luck at Coffin Up Candy?" The man asked the mage. Leonidas raised a finger to object but then realized that right now he was a lady. The defeated mage lowered his finger.

"Sure." Leonidas answered laconically. "She" had nothing to lose by playing. Maybe "she" could have a little fun without something else weird happening. The man flashed a smile.

"OK lady, here's how it works. I'm gonna place a piece of candy in one of the small coffins you see sitting on the table. I'm then gonna move them around a few times. When I stop your goal is to pick the coffin I put the piece of candy in." The man laid out the rules of the game.

"Got it." Leonidas said in response. He watched closely as the man opened the third coffin and placed a piece of candy with a sky blue wrapper inside of it, then closed it and began shuffling the coffins around with his hands. After almost a minute of shuffling he stopped moving them and made eye contact with the mage.

"OK, lady. Now you pick which one you think has the candy in it." The man said. Leonidas thought back to which of the small coffins the candy had been placed in, then used his right index finger to pick the coffin in the center.

"Are you sure?" The man asked the mage in what was undoubtedly an effort to build suspense and make the mage second-guess "herself."

"I'm sure." Leonidas answered calmly. The man reached down and opened the small coffin, which contained the piece of candy that had been placed in there earlier. He looked up and smiled again.

"You're right, lady. You win both some candy and one of these tokens as prizes!" The man said before reaching down under the table and fishing out a small clear bag of the candy in the sky blue wrapper and another Skull Token. He handed them both to Leonidas, who was pleased with the victory at the guessing game. The mage received them and thanked the man for running the game. After that Leonidas left the Coffin Up Candy game behind so that the next person could have a turn.

"She" was off to participate in other activities. Hopefully they were safe to participate in like Coffin Up Candy was.

While Leonidas was still stuck as a woman for the time being "she" had two Skull Tokens and a small bag of candy to "her" name. With those prizes in hand the scar-faced mage wandered around the festival areas until the sound of music caught their attention. With nothing else to lose and feeling more than a little apprehensive about having a second weird bodily change happen to them in one night thanks to an activity, Leonidas began to follow the music until they found the source.

    -Twenty-one minutes later-

After making "her" way through the dense foot traffic milling about the festival Leonidas finally reached the source of the music, which was a large stage with impressively large speakers placed on both sides of the stage. Perched on top of the large speakers were equally large jack-o-lanterns that seemed to be smiling down on the assembled people. On stage was a rock band dressed in varying costumes. The lead guitarist was a skeleton, the bass guitarist a warlock in black robes, the drummer a knight in plate armor, and the female vocalist dressed as a witch right out of a storybook.

Leonidas listened to them play a fast-paced song about a murderous scarecrow stalking people through a cornfield looking to secure a "harvest of flesh" while looked for a place to sit down for awhile. Costume or not, the crystal armor was surprisingly heavy and the mage needed a break. Leonidas looked towards the back of the music area and noticed quite a few seating areas in the back of the area and along the outer edges... there were plenty of individual seats for lone festival attendees, but there were also a few long tables for larger groups to sit at.

Leonidas chose one of the empty seats in the back and made their way to it while ignoring whistles from some of the male festival attendees who had noticed "her" and wanted "her" attention. When the mage finally reached their destination "she" took a seat far away from the other people and faced the stage. The scar-faced mage noticed that the rock band was now gone and the stage being set for another band, but in the meantime another song was playing from the speakers, this one with a piano as the main instrument and female vocalists backing the male singer.

The theme of the song was also different. Instead of a murderous scarecrow stalking people in a cornfield this song was much more upbeat and referred to several famous cinematic monsters by name. Leonidas believed that the song was called "The Monster Mash" or something similar.

Leonidas listened to the rest of the song while looking around at all the costumed people who were either sitting at tables and talking, sitting and listening to the music, or standing around. The costumes in this area were every bit as varied as the ones seen during the trip to the Witch's Brew activity. Here the mage saw pirates, a few medieval bards who were carrying lutes, male and female vampires, a pair of zombies, and a lot of other costumes that were not recognizable but were likely from anime because of the wild colors and hairstyles. The mood in the area was a convivial one where friends had assembled to enjoy music, each other's company, and the festival.

It was in this area that Leonidas decided to spend some time before returning home and getting ready to take another job the next day. There were no other activities that caught the scar-faced mage's interest and "she" did not want to get hit with any other unusual bodily changes tonight. Leonidas sat in the chair and listened to the music, which had changed from a recording of "The Monster Mash" to a live act consisting of a DJ and turntables. While Leonidas sat and watched the DJ begin playing their set an event staff member walked up and handed "her" another Skull Token, then departed as swiftly as they had arrived.

Leonidas would likely stay here for another hour or two before leaving the festival to go home. The mage was curious as to what the DJ would play for the festival attendees. Besides, the scar-faced mage always had time for a good party and despite the unexpected gender change this festival more than qualified as a good party.

Good drinks, good decorations, and good music... what was not to like about it?
