Upon walking up the spiral of stairs, Mura faintly noticed the wood-framed portrait on the wall above a mantelpiece. While he assumed the two young kids with smiles on their faces to be the two lost kids that they were trying to find now, he was… worried about the third kid in the frame, the baby cradled in the tall man’s arms. Did Rose and Thorn have a little brother or sister? Or was it no longer among them?
Either way, it helped little in his search for them. His Shikigami, however, were revealed to be alright, and he could link his Magical Sensory to them again. There was some kind of sensory-disrupting spell separating the floors, maybe… but ultimately, he had more eyes working around him and Mythica now.
“I can’t sense them…” he worryingly breathed out to his wife, feeling like he wasn’t performing at his best for some odd, unexplainable reason. How come he hadn’t found them by now? Was his Sensory that disrupted by whatever atmosphere was holding them hostage here? It was so sickening, but more chilling was the decoration on the wooden doors… they looked like kids batting off swarms of small, bat-like creatures.
Impatiently, he reached the top of the stairs and opened the doorway, ready to unsheathe his katana if danger showed itself, but all he found was a simple bedroom with a pair of beds. Footlockers and unused uniforms, urgh… nothing to help him in his search-
And that was when the corner of his gaze noticed the button next to the dumbwaiter. He immediately slid his hand across the wall next to the button, trying to get a feel of the other side and whether or not there was any empty space akin to trapdoors and hidden entrances. “Okay, there must be something of use here…” he mumbled before pressing the button.
