Post by Fair 30th March 2019, 6:24 pm

Completing only a single task assigned by her own guild had gotten Fair into the swing of things already. She liked how Silver Wolf wanted its members to expand their knowledge and not just get stronger to be able to fight better. She really wanted to get to know the master, or mistress. Damn, she didn’t even know if the holder of the highest position of the guild was a male or a female. You couldn’t blame her. She hadn’t been in the guild for a week. She didn’t even have any friends yet. It was a shame, really. She remembered she made friends on the first day of arriving in her previous guild. A deterioration in her social skills. She was starting to be afraid for her future at this point. Will the inability to make friends transform her into an evil sorceress? Oh, the terror. She couldn’t begin to imagine what it would be like to have no friends at all.

Those were her first thoughts at six in the morning when she was awoken by her alarm, on a warm Tuesday. Blinking back tears from yawning so wide, Fair twisted her waist sideways in bed which let out two cracking sounds and a very satisfied sigh. The task of the day, was hunting for treasure for a client who was unable to do it by himself although he claimed to have a legitimate map that led to it. The reward was half of whatever was found, if the treasure did exist and the map actually led to it. Fair wasn’t very fond of these kinds of missions, because of her past with scams. When she was only starting as a mage, a mysterious man stole her time by giving her a fake treasure map. Once she was sure the treasure could not be found, she was accused of dishonesty, and the man did not compensate her for her time wasted. Of course this was a time when she thought she could trust everyone as long as they appeared to have good intentions. That was her first lesson, though it wasn’t as harsh as how some others got it, she did feel pretty cheated. She realised she couldn’t just trust anybody.

There was someone else accompanying Fair on the mission that day; someone she had never met before. She wasn’t new to working with guildmates, because she had done so during her time in her previous guild, but it always felt like a new experience. It was sort of true though. Getting to know someone you’re completely unfamiliar with was a whole new journey. The fact that someone else was going to be there with her to test if this was a scam or not, made Fair feel a whole lot better because she was still skeptical about things like this. She kept in her mind, though, that a job officially assigned by her guild could not turn out to be a scam. Fingers crossed.

Now, Fair had agreed to meet her new guildmate at the entrance of the Ancient Ruins since she didn’t feel like asking them to come and meet her at her apartment in her apartment complex, or go through the awkwardness of asking them where they lived, and meeting at the guild was a no as well because she wasn’t very fond of the cold weather and the guild was literally on top of a snowy mountain. So, to make it extra convenient for both the participants, Fair requested that they meet at the entrance of the job location. Both of them would have to use their own method of travel, and Fair’s was by borrowing a magicar. Yes, you read that right. A mother-effing magicar. Those things destroy the planet, but whatever, right? She needed to get this bread. She wasn’t going to live to see the end of the world.

TREASURE HUNTING (Pt. 1) ; job ; Morrigan Empty Re: TREASURE HUNTING (Pt. 1) ; job ; Morrigan

Post by Morrigan 31st March 2019, 11:10 am

A soft breeze hits a tent set up at the entrance of the ruins, ruffling the fabric and shaking the pitches, however it stands firm. A brief inspection of the inside reveals nothing but a single worn suitcase covered in faded patches of various kinds, but newer ones have seemingly been plastered over, pictures of people and places Haley made memories of, with a pink heart on one of the pictures during the Rose Garden Valentine's event. Several crows watch the tent, their talons rested upon the ancient stones of the ruins.

Haley had decided to come in the midst of darkness, way before the designated hour of meeting with this 'Fair' person. Haley knew this person only by name, and nothing more. Haley wanted to meet outside this person's apartment which she had a crow find out for her but it would be slightly creepy to have done so. Considering Haley lives in her suitcase, telling this person to meet in front of a suitcase was rather rude sounding. However it seems before Haley could give this person a definite solution, they landed on the same page of 'Let's just meet at the Ruins yeah?'.

However one would question the dagger wielding summoner, why would she arrive in the dead of night when she could have just arrive at the designated time? The answer was rather simple, Haley was a bit too lazy to arrive on schedule. So the better plan was to just be there the whole gosh dang time. And it was good. This 'Fair' would arrive, see the tent with the SW symbol on it, be curious and go inside to possibly see what is inside and be sucked right into a comfy chair in the library with beverage ready prepared by the ever hard working fairies.

Haley felt her plan was fool proof, and if the alarm was any sign it meant sooner or later this person would arrive. Getting out of the comfy bed of beanbags, pillows and plushies, the crow maiden turns the nightgown into a towel for her as the room wrapped from a bedroom to a bathroom, casually walking as if the world revolved around the mage.

With morning preparation done, it was time to move on to breakfast and other novelties of the morning. First was the cooking of breakfast, which Haley watches a video on her Ilac and cooks a delicious pan toasted cheese sandwich with soft boiled egg and a glass of cold milk. With everything delivered to a chair side table, Haley falls onto a soft armchair, with one opposite of hers that is clearly meant for someone to sit down with her, or rather be sucked down into the suitcase and land right onto it just in time for Haley to have several books out about the ancient ruins all being held up white lights.

Haley made sure everything will fall into her hands. There is a welcoming tent, with the guild symbol on it as if it was their base camp to return to while they explored the Ancient Ruins, with a dead campfire right outside because Haley had made some delicious smores. The amount of crows was slightly unsettling however, being a large murder of them just hanging around the camp site they were a security system of some sort. The girl cannot help the fact that crows ravens and the like just follow her everywhere.

A sip of hot chocolate later, and Haley wonders if she would ever see this 'Fair' person. Odd a name as it was Haley was in no position to question. Her middle name is Halcyon despite her father being a notorious being of malice and history of thieving. Nothing was peaceful when it came to her. After all she did held a knife to someone, find out they were friendly with the two most powerful people in the guild, and that they were pretty much one hundred percent better than herself. Great times.

Post by Fair 6th April 2019, 2:16 pm

After renting the magicar, Fair tested it out to make sure it was not going to break down in the middle of the journey. The trip was going to be a long one so she didn’t want to mess up before the mission even began. There was this reliable magicar rental service that actually delivered the vehicle to the building she lived in, so that was convenient. She made a call first to book one of their cars of course, and the girl who answered her call gave her a twenty-minute waiting time. That was enough time for her to get ready, since she was going out for a job. She didn’t need to look all pretty for it.

Like every other day of work, she took a quick cold shower to wake herself up (more than she already was), poured a cup full of coffee down her throat and picked the outfit she would be wearing. A very unladylike screeching sound escaped her lips in a sort of hyped up manner. The hot coffee gave her senses a bit of a kick and she felt like a goldfish because for a hot minute, she couldn’t make up her mind about anything important, such as picking a color for the ribbon in her hair that would match the color of her outfit.

A short beep sounded from her iLac to signal the arrival of the magicar, so she picked up her little crossbody bag and shoved in everything she needed for today. Her hair was in place, and she smelled like a garden. She was ready to go. The magicar was parked right under her building, which she got on, and very conveniently turned on the radio as she started the vehicle. It was playing one of those songs that were trending across Fiore. It was a good start. With the help of a GPS installed in the magicar, she began her journey. The Ancient Ruins was about an hour’s drive. If she drove fast, that is. She kept checking her iLac to see if she had any notifications. Talk about social media addiction.

The ride outside of town was a smooth one, though that was nothing compared to the distance she would have to cover to reach the Ancient Ruins. Starting from the outskirts, it was a bumpy ride. It couldn’t be helped that she wanted to get there fast, and the route she was using was by an old road that’s barely used nowadays. She was going to make it worth the money she used to rent the magicar.

Once the Ancient Ruins came into sight, Fair started driving slowly to look around for her partner. They had agreed to meet at the entrance of the place, so she stopped the magicar somewhere hidden so that no one could destroy it or something. No one could steal it unless they were some sort of magicar stealing expert who could break the system that allowed only the person who rented it, to start it. So all she was worried about was the car being damaged when she was done with her job. As soon as she spotted the logo of her guild on a tent right outside of the job location, she realised her partner was more punctual than she was, which wasn’t a let down to be honest because she was almost always the last person to arrive at an arranged meeting. She waited outside for anyone inside to come out, prepared to react in case this was some sort of trap or if whatever barbarians were around to ambush her.

TREASURE HUNTING (Pt. 1) ; job ; Morrigan Empty Re: TREASURE HUNTING (Pt. 1) ; job ; Morrigan

Post by Morrigan 21st April 2019, 5:29 am

Haley guessed her plan was not that foolproof after all. After waiting for a few moments, the crows outside cawed loudly, and that told her someone was outside, and not entering the tent. Haley sighed, she had cookies baked and a warm teapot of tea. Well looks like she would have to just pack up. Doing a few stretches, she gets up, picked up the plate of cookies and snapped her fingers. Thousands of tiny lights rushed towards the ceiling, well a void of a ceiling, up and out of the suitcase inside, and rushed out the tent like bats out of a cave. They begin to surround the tent and grabbed the pins, their motions that of a crew of coordinated people packing a tent.

The tent now no longer pinned to the ground, the other lights grab the tent fabric and rolls it all up, taking out the tent's skeleton and folded it up too. The tent components were soon packed neatly into a roll, before the lights and now packed tent rushed down the exposed suitcase, before Haley pops up with a plate of chocolate chip cookies in hand, with the other hand holding a cookie Haley was casually snacking on. Now the two have met, and Haley was quick to introduce herself to her partner of the day.

"Greetings miss Fair," Haley smiled at her partner. "My name is Haley, and pleasure to do this job with you." Haley then offers the cookies to Fair, the crows watching the exchange. Once their exchange of greetings was over, Haley jumped right into the gist of the mission. "So it just seems that we are to look for treasure using an alleged real treasure map. Whether it is real or not is up to debate, as the map does not match any known information about the Ancient Ruins. Not going to be surprised if the cilent was mislead. Luckily if the cilent tries anything funny, we have our ways." Haley smiled with intention.

Haley snaps her fingers and the suitcase flies to her hand, which she promptly pulls out the map as she slots the plate down it, then she shakes the suitcase as a table comes out of it and drops onto the floor. Placing the map, a compass and other maps to help cross reference, Haley leans over the table and thinks. And whether or not Faith is helpful in this situation does not matter, cause just as Haley looks over the maps, her eyes begin to sense something. Looking up, she quickly pulls a knife out and throws it towards a tree, hearing a shriek and a swarm of bats emerging from the ruins. A dead bat drops from the swarm, knife cleanly stuck inside its small body.

"I hate that we had disturbed the local fauna... Come on we might as well run!" Haley swipes up everything into her mysterious suitcase and makes a break for it as the swarm chases, but for some reason, they seem to lead the two mages around. Eventually they get chased towards a large desolate ruin, moss growing upon its form. Haley dives inside a hole that they could both fit through and slides into the dirt and mud of an ancient time. Whatever they encounter, let's hope they don't die.

TREASURE HUNTING (Pt. 1) ; job ; Morrigan Empty Re: TREASURE HUNTING (Pt. 1) ; job ; Morrigan

Post by Fair 24th April 2019, 1:49 pm

Very much unlike her expectations, the tent folded itself, with the help of what looked like tiny lights to the naked eye which Fair imagined were microscopic fairies; so small only their magical glow could be spotted. The sorceress found herself stunned by the display and at the end of it, couldn’t help but clap. She loved these kinds of things, and what’s even better? A small dark-haired witch popped out of the tent with a plate of cookies. Everything about her appearance and the way she carried herself suggested that she was definitely a witch, but Fair knew that it was rude to assume things, although she couldn’t help blurting out the following as she was offered some cookies: “Can I take a selfie with you? I’ve never met a real witch in person before.” That was totally rude, and she didn’t realise it at all. If Haley accepted this, Fair would bring out her iLac and take a quick selfie of herself and her job partner. But if not, she would apologize for being rude and take a cookie.

Listening to what her partner was saying made her remember an important fact about the job. She nodded and added, “Oh, I read that the monster that guards the treasure is in a deep sleep because no one  could pass the other guardians outside. Not exactly sure, though.” A nervous chuckle found its way out of her mouth before she took a bite of her cookie watching Haley do some fascinating tricks with her suitcase. It made Fair feel regret for not having learnt witchcraft. If it was even witchcraft that Haley was practising, that is. The suitcase produced a table on which Haley straightened out the map and other tools to help them navigate, like compasses and things like that. After much thought (and trying to understand the map on her own), Fair decided that Haley was going to be the one to lead the way throughout this mission. She seemed to know how to read the map. She thought treasure maps were supposed to be simple, with a huge red X marking the exact location of the treasure, and like labels of what was what on the map, or something. Whatever. Fair was too absorbed in her own mind, wondering why maps got so complicated when Haley suddenly tossed a knife into a tree. Fair flailed and jumped out of harm’s way in shock. “Why did you do that!?” she screamed. She could feel her heart beating so fast in her chest. Now, a swarm of bats started chasing them.

“I really think you shouldn’t have done that,” she continued to say as they started to run. Her chest felt like it was on the verge of bursting and the shock made her want to blame Haley for the bats chasing them. Only a few seconds later she realised they were probably the guardians outside. Why were bats out in the open in big groups anyway? That definitely seemed abnormal to her. The treasure hunt was starting to feel a bit real to her now that a swarm of shrieking bats were chasing them, so her biggest concern was of the monster guarding the treasure. She didn’t even know if it was true, but that was the worse thing that she could imagine in this scenario. Of course it would be too easy if the treasure wasn’t guarded by anything dangerous. The treasure wouldn’t even be treasure in that case. It would just be some cheap...thing, right? Anyway, she followed Haley since she trusted that her partner knew the way around here better than she did. But when she dived into a mudhole, Fair realised that she had made a big mistake. “Fantastic,” she muttered to herself, creating glowing illusions of butterflies so that they could see better inside the hole. The butterflies floated around them, providing a faint light.

Haley pants as she sat on the floor, feeling the soft dirt of their little hiding hole as bats lost track of them. Getting up, she bows towards her partner in awkward apology after cleaning of her hands of the dirt. Now they were somewhere, underground, in the dark. At least the butterflies helped light part of the place.

"Well... Now... Um... Hm..." Haley was at a lost at the moment, however something itched her that this was the right choice. After all why would there be a hole, with space large enough for the both of them. Adjusting her glasses for a moment, she realizes something as a butterfly flies past a wall. There were eyes, many eyes. They crawled along the wall and stalked the two. Once again Haley raised her knife but a book materializes into her other hand. She opens it and mutters a few words.

"We... seem to have company," Haley said as she lifted her book before the book fires a blast of pure magic energy, blasting one of the pair of eyes. It contacts with the creature, revealing the bat like creature screeching at them along with its company. Once again Haley had got them both into a fight with some ugly, this time being a group of five scary bats. Haley raises her hand, and Etherano begun to gather round her fingers. "Apologies but I'm gonna need a bit of time here..." Haley told Fair. It was clear what Haley was doing, charging the book with Etherano and using her body as a catalyst. Why such a book, with its age and wear visible, pages yellowed by time and writing about to fade, needed a mage's power was unclear to the eyes of anyone other than Haley herself.

If given the time she would fire another blast, killing a vampire bat as it evaporates into magic energy by the blast. Haley closes her book when the battle is over, sighing before looking around. They could climb out after the whole fight, but there was a passage down where the bats were. Haley remembered something about guardians to the treasure. Were they encountering them now that the guardians have learnt of their intention to take the treasure or were the animals were coincidence. Haley was not sure, but she hoped Fair had something to say about this whole situation.

Post by Fair 16th June 2019, 2:12 am

Jumping into the mudhole seemed to have been the right idea, because her butterflies showed a way deeper underground. They had lost the bats, and also found a way that might lead them towards the treasure they were hunting. Letting her illusions travel further into the hole, Fair waited for anything funny to happen. At that moment, Haley seemed to have noticed something, which Fair did as well immediately after. She saw five pairs of eyes blinking at them. Haley wasted no time in attacking the eyes with her witchcraft, and Fair followed suit, allowing the celestial spirit Sagittarius take over her form. Wielding a bow and quiver made out light, Fair reached for one of the arrows in her quiver and brought it forward. “Take all the time you need,” she told Haley as she began firing her arrows at the bats inside the tunnel. Since Fair automatically masters archery upon activation of this spell, not a single shot missed. Combined with Haley’s spells, the bats dropped to the ground like dead flies.

Once the bats had been extinguished, Fair lowered her bow, taking a moment to let any other adversaries show up but it seemed there were none left. “Alright. Let’s follow this path. I think it will lead us somewhere. Those bats couldn’t have been in here for nothing. I could sense their magical auras,” she told Haley and began to lead the way. Fair decided to trust her instincts now, and began to operate according to them. “Keep quiet,” she told her partner in a hushed tone. Her luminous butterflies led the way, deeper and deeper into the tunnel. The path became harder to traverse, though Fair persisted and kept moving with her bow ready in case any more enemies showed up. After a while of just walking (and sweating), they came to what seemed like the end of the tunnel. “No…” Fair was sure the tunnel was leading them to the ‘treasure’, but now that they were at what appeared to be a dead end, she heaved a defeated sigh. It couldn’t be. Trusting that her instincts couldn’t have been wrong, Fair softly knocked on the wall of mud. Much to her surprise, the mud turned into dust and fell away, to reveal a room filled with treasure, and a beast in a deep slumber, supposedly guarding it. It was their lucky day. Now all they had to do was make sure they didn’t wake the monster up while retrieving the treasure.

The journey was only lit by the gentle glow of Fair's butterflies, something Haley finds intriguing, but also curious. The fairies made from her magic followed the gentle flutters, quick flashy dances of curiosity. Then the dead end came.

"We... Dang..." Haley sighed, inspecting their little space for some way up or forward, not wanting to go back down the path. She then hears the dirt crumble behind her, to find a surprised Fair and a new path down. "Well... I guess a way is a way... And that..." Gold practically flashed in the trickster's eye.

Now, it was time for Haley to show off her skills. Going on her fours, she listens to the ground before grabbing her knifes and tapping the earth and wood. She begins to climb the walls, like a spider using hooks. Then she strikes, a beautiful landing on top of the guardian beast like a bird of prey. Pulling a knife clean from the body, she smiles at Fair.

"Voila... Time to start picking, and head home."

It was a triumphant moment for both Fair and Haley who now only had to do one thing—retrieve the treasure without waking up the beast that guarded it. Fair knew herself. She probably wouldn’t have been able to get the treasure without making a sound. Unlike herself, Haley used her tricks to get to the treasure. It was very cool. When Haley would return, they would have treasure as well as another treasure map. Fair wasn’t sure if she really wanted to go on a treasure hunt again. Maybe when she’s well rested after this one.

This would mean that their mission was complete, and it was time for them to part ways. Fair really enjoyed having a partner for a job, and she was just glad that this ‘treasure hunt’ thing didn’t turn out to be a scam like she suspected it would. All in all, it was a good experience and damn, the treasure was shiny. She couldn’t wait to trade them for a hefty amount of jewels which she would use to go on a shopping spree.
