It was fairly chilly outside. The Inkling was standing outside, watching people go by about their day. He was wearing a white and green striped shirt underneath a blue hoodie, simple black leggings and heavy blue boots. His face was covered under a face mask that protected his nose and mouth, as well as a beanie that protected his ears and covered most of his hair tentacles. He was leaning against a side of a building that was home to a shop with various magical potions and such, which he had visited a few moments prior. It was interesting to see their wares. Though he was not quite familiar with the many different uses and ingredients what went into making the potions, it was still a very much insightful visit. It gave him a better idea of how a mage's life can look like. While the visit was useful in that manner, he also paid a visit to that shop because of that article he had read before. The substance that was found and sounded awfully like his ink. He tried asking discreetly about that, but the shopkeeper seemed to have no clue what the substance could possibly be. That gave him a bit ore hope that he wasn't alone in this predicament.

The people went by and the Inkling was getting tired of just standing around and he wasn't exactly keen on surfing the web again. He let out a bubbly sigh as he pushed himself off of the wall and started walking, without a destination in mind. As much as he didn't know what to do, he didn't want to go back to the Fairy Hills quite yet. He walked for a little bit, until he came upon a newspaper stand. Maybe instead of reading everything online, he could go for actual printed text. Yeah, that sounded nice. The Inkling walked over and bought a copy of a newspaper. It was a few Jewels that he could spare. He did that rather awful job in that café, very recently. Shortly after he was reading about the newest events, happenings and accidents in Magnolia and its near vicinity, as well as some news from around Fiore as a whole. There was one tiny tidbit that caught his eye, though. It was an ad of sorts for a concert of band called Altitude, with a ticket attached inside of the papers. They were also.. offering Jewels for just simply attending? They must've had really low expectations of the number of attendees, if they were handing out tickets and offering monetary rewards. It sounded extremely tempting. He read through the rest of the ad, looking for a time and date. And he found them. The concert was scheduled for the day, in about two and half hours, outside in one of the parks. The Inkling knew what he was doing in just a little bit.

It was hard to fill out the remaining time, but Garnet just wandered around magnolia for a bit, until he saw it fit that he goes to the place where the concert was supposed to take place. There was a surprising amount of people already at the park, presumably at the promise of Jewels. If he had be fair, that was the reason why he was there aswell. The concert was supposed to start in about 20 to 30 minutes, but the queue was long and barely moving. Garnet wasn't sure if the Jewels were already being given out or the ticket checking was just taking so much time. Either way, he couldn't exactly do anything about it, so he just walked to the end of the queue with the newspaper and his phone in hands. He was secretly hoping that the music will be at least worth the time, besides just the money.

Post by Victoria Sheridan 29th December 2018, 6:01 pm

Wearing a blue t-shirt under a black hoodie and black skirt with white tennis shoes, Victoria walked into Magnolia Town. She wanted to do something different other than fight for her life in a dangerous job or serve drinks at the Ace of Spades. She heard people talking about a concert being held in Magnolia Town by a musical group called Altitude. She decided to check it out because the last time she had attended a concert was in Capital Crocus when Lilium still walked the earth and Black Rose was still a guild.

Victoria walked up to a newspaper stand and bought a newspaper because she wanted to read about what was going on in Magnolia Town. She opened the newspaper and read about a series of duels that had happened during a recent Fairy Tail festival. Covering the back of the first page was a rundown of the duels and how each battle had went. She saw where a somewhat famous female mage named Leona managed to defeat Fairy Tail's Aven Alveron by using summoned harpies to stand on his magic circles and make the magic grow out of control, forcing Aven to expend all his magic power keeping the magic under control.

Victoria noted that despite the loss by the hometown hero, the article was not judgmental of either duelist. Aven had put on an excellent performance and had demonstrated his mastery of magic by hammering the Silver Wolf mage with powerful long-range magic. Leona had demonstrated out-of-the-box thinking by having the presence of mind to dodge some of the attacks and come up with the plan to block Aven's circles, giving Leona the win.

Victoria read further and read more results, including an "All Saints" match between Mura Kensho of Fairy Tail and Johann Von Weiss of West Fiore Trading Company. She read that it was an evenly matched duel with impressive displays of magic, but her train of thought was interrupted when a ticket fell out of the newspaper. It was a ticket to the Altitude concert.

Victoria bent down and picked it up. She then looked for some more information on the concert and found a section in the newspaper that listed the time and location of the concert. That was exactly what she needed. The fact that there would be a monetary reward for attending was icing on the cake. Victoria liked easy money.

She found the concert venue and got in line, keeping the ticket in her hoodie pocket so that it did not get stolen along with her chance for easy money. The line was a long one and the concert was set to start in 20-30 minutes. She hoped that the line would get a move on before showtime.

Minutes passed by and the line barely moved. There was a solid number of people behind Garnet himself at that point aswell. The Inkling just took out his phone in response to that and reviewed his to do list. Find his brother Crystal, find the source of the presumed ink, get more Jewels, change the bed sheets... Just the usual, nothing out of ordinary there. After moment Garnet typed in get a notebook to write down stuff. He reckoned that he could store his thoughts on paper aswell, just in case anything happened to his phone. As he was typing that out, a lady was walking beside the line. She had a band on her shoulder that said STAFF. "The line will be moving shortly, sorry for the delay!" She kept on repeating the phrase as she was walking along the queue of people. Garnet heard a few people murmur and whisper in a displeased manner as the information spread around. The Inkling was starting to get a bit tired by then and regretted not sitting down during the time he was killing before he went to stand in the line.

Even though it was chilly, it wasn't windy and because of the lack of moving air, Garnet's facemask was getting kind of stuffy and sweaty on the inside. With a bubbly sigh he would lift the left side of his beanie off of his pointy ear, so that he could unhook the left side of the facemask and let both his face and the mask breathe a little bit. Garnet would let the other side of the facemask be, so it hung on the right side of his face. A few moments would pass by, as the line started to move forward. A bit slowly, but it was moving surely. It felt like it was high time for that, as Garnet was almost sure that the concert was supposed to have already started. The Inkling would stop moving momentarily to put his phone away. As he did so, he would bump into somebody behind him with his elbow. Garnet would immediately turn his head around with an apologetic expression a slight wave of his hand, as if to say I'm sorry, my mistake.

[Job - Garnet & Victoria] Payment for Attendance Empty Re: [Job - Garnet & Victoria] Payment for Attendance

Post by Victoria Sheridan 30th December 2018, 7:59 pm

Victoria was standing in line and waiting for it to move when a female staff member informed the line that it would be moving along shortly. Shortly. That was a pretty vague time frame, but it was had to go on. She would just wait in the growing line until it was concert time and hope she got in before Altitude played its first set. Judging from the reactions from people in the line, she was far from alone in not being happy with the announcement.

Victoria had never even heard of Altitude before. From conversations between older people wearing band t-shirts that she overheard in line, Altitude was kind of a big deal... twenty years ago. The band was big before she was even born, but they had fallen on hard times after the musical tastes of a generation changed. That was a recurring cycle in the music world... after one genre of music had had its day, a new genre supplanted it. Sometimes a genre would experience a resurgence in popularity and come back into the limelight when it found a new generation of fans, but other genres would remain in the dustbin of history to be forgotten by all except their most devoted fans.

Apparently today was Altitude's reunion tour. They were going to make another go of it and they were going to start their tour in Magnolia Town, presumably so that if the concert was a bust they would not have lost too much money invested into the venue. Capital Crocus was a prestigious venue, but it was also dreadfully expensive to rent a place there unless one had deep pockets. The average going rate for concert space was in the five figures. and that was not even for a top-tier location.

Eventually the woman's statement came to pass and the line moved forward. It was moving slowly, but it was moving forward and progress was being made. Victoria shuffled forward as space permitted, eventually accidentally walking into a fellow with pointy ears who was checking his phone when he stopped moving forward. The fellow turned around and waved a hand at her in a gesture that indicated that the mistake was on his end. Victoria was not upset with him... she had not been paying attention either.

"It's OK, dude." Victoria assured the stranger. The stranger was wearing a white and green striped shirt underneath a blue hoodie, simple black leggings and heavy blue boots. He had a facemask that was hanging off of one of his ears. The air was cold but the wind was not blowing, so she could see why he had taken the facemask off. He looked a lot different from the other concert-goers... he must not have been from around here.

The brunette felt a magical signature emanate from him. He had to be another mage, but she did not which guild he was from. Instead of asking what guild he was from, she would start off with another question.

"I guess you're here for the concert too, huh?" Victoria asked the guy. It was a pretty dumb question to ask, but she was trying to break the ice. He might be a valuable future contact in the magic world... or he could be an enemy, depending on which guild he was a member of. He was likely on the side of good or at least neutral. If he were evil, he would already be causing mayhem with some friends at his side.

The woman that Garnet bumped into assured him that it was fine and the Inkling nodded back, as he started to move forward, bit by bit, to minimize the gap that he left in front of him because he stopped for a moment. The woman was dressed in black on the outside, sporting a hoodie and slightly surprisingly a skirt. Then again, Garnet himself wasn't exactly dressed for extremely cold weather, save for the facemask. Which was becoming slightly cumbersome, but Garnet hoped that it would get gradually colder during the concert.

After Garnet was assured that all was well and good, the woman asked him if he was attending the concert. As much as it grated him that the answer was painfully obvious, the Inkling reckoned that the question most likely served as a small talk instrument. Which meant that he had to take out his phone again. Garnet would reach into his back pocket for his phone, making sure that he didn't elbow the woman for the second time. The line was moving forward, but not at a breakneck pace, so he didn't have issues with typing and walking at the same time. His fingers would fly across the keyboard, as he typed out his reply. Shortly after, the Inkling would turn his head around again, along with his phone, that had a message on the screen, for the woman to read. Yeah. I'll be honest, the promise of Jewels was mighty tempting, so here I am. A playful smirk would play on Garnet's face, clearly not ashamed of the fact that the only reason why he was in that queue was the money. He would scroll a little bit more down with his thumb. They were almost at the entrance to the concert itself, so that was great. I can only assume that the same could be said about you, at least partially. Of course, Garnet had no way of knowing whether the woman just happened to be a die-hard fan of the soon performing band, but much like himself, she didn't exactly fit the waiting crowd. Then again, he was just assuming things, which, in hindsight, he probably shouldn't do.

Post by Victoria Sheridan 31st December 2018, 5:52 pm

Victoria should have known that the other guy was here for the concert and the money. She could tell that asking such an obvious question grated on him, but now she had gotten her foot in the door. However, there was one small problem. He did not communicate in any language that she knew of. He was definitely from somewhere other than Earthland.

The brunette did not have an iLac and she did not have a notepad and pencil handy, so this conversation might be a bit difficult. Still, she would manage. The stranger was nice enough to not tell her to get lost after asking such a dumb question with an obvious answer, so she owed it to him to try and carry the conversation to its conclusion. Victoria read his admission that he too was here mostly for the Jewels.

"Me too, dude. The Jewels are a big reason." Victoria admitted to the other mage with a guilty smile. She had always been a bit mercenary and had mixed feelings about that tendency. She was trying to bring that aspect of her personality under control because she was now part of Sabertooth and was supposed to defend the people of Earthland out of public service, not for a monetary reward. However, happy thoughts and gratitude did not pay the bills... Jewels did. Today was no different... she expected Jewels in exchange for her service in making the concert crowd just a bit bigger.

Victoria thought a bit about the trajectory of her life. She had been taking a lot of dangerous jobs lately and had been getting paid well for the work. Maybe she needed to slow down and take jobs that paid less but were less dangerous. Maybe she needed to do a few more service jobs that actually helped people, like helping out at a hospital back when she was with Black Rose. Maybe she needed to hunt another serial killer so that she could get a fight fix and help the world out by removing a threat to it.

The concert line was gradually growing shorter as people kept advancing. It was almost time for the show to start. Victoria hoped that the music was actually good so that she would not have wasted her time and sounded like a soulless money-grubbing mage who only plied her trade for Jewels. Ryo would probably hear of what she said and have a few stern words for her when she returned to the guild hall.

So it seemed that Garnet wasn't far off with the thought that the woman had a similar mindset to that of his own. It wasn't that Garnet himself was too big of a sellout, but he could really use the Jewels that were being offered, as he had to pay the rent in Fairy Hills, somehow. And Jewels being basically offered up for free? He couldn't pass up this stellar opportunity. He was just hoping that the music would be good. Though probably nothing would come close to the bands that Garnet loved from back home.

The line of concert goers was shrinking, as the people entered the concert grounds. Garnet was almost at the gate. He couldn't really keep up any meaningful conversation as it was kind of cumbersome for him to convey his thoughts to others. That still didn't stop his fingers from quickly flying across the keyboard on his phone, typing out a simple message for the woman. Before the part of line where Garnet was in crossed the gate, he would flash the screen of his phone behind him, for the woman to read. My name's Garnet, by the way. Pleased to meet you. He would quickly introduce himself, as he then put away his phone. Staff members at the gate were still checking the tickets of the attendees, despite the fact that the concert was supposed to be starting in just a minute or two. The band would probably wait until everybody gathered together. But then again, maybe they wouldn't. The Inkling rummaged through his pockets as he scrambled to find his ticket.

The ticket finding didn't take long and Garnet proudly presented the ticket in question to staff. A part of the ticket was then ripped off, signifying that it was used to get through the gate. Garnet didn't want to keep anyone waiting that was behind him, so kept on walking, but he decided to stand to the side as soon as he could afford to do so. He wanted to wait for certain somebody to get through the gate aswell. It suddenly didn't feel as awkward going to the concert, now that he made an acquaintance.

[Job - Garnet & Victoria] Payment for Attendance Empty Re: [Job - Garnet & Victoria] Payment for Attendance

Post by Victoria Sheridan 1st January 2019, 8:32 pm

Victoria kind of liked the guy, who was named Garnet. He did not judge her too harshly for her open declaration that a big reason she was here was because Jewels were being offered. Rather, he was something of a kindred spirit. He was not a soulless money-grubber, but he too had bills to pay and was honest about it. Victoria could respect that kind of honesty.

"I'm Victoria. Victoria Sheridan." Victoria introduced herself to Garnet. Despite the language barrier and the difference in appearance, he was a good guy to be around. She watched as he presented his ticket, part of it was removed to signal that it had been used to enter, and walked on in without any further issues. After him it was her turn to have her ticket punched... or torn.

"Is this your first concert?" The staff member asked.

"I went to a Steel Matron tribute band concert once. That was two years ago and in Capital Crocus. It was... it was... different." Victoria said diplomatically. The real Steel Matron had some pretty good music that ranged from angry guitar-driven rants against the conformist nature of a consumerism-based society to a couple of deeply moving power ballads about love and standing by real friends no matter what. The real Steel Matron was good. The tribute bands... they were a mixed bag. One named Titanium Maid was almost as good as Steel Matron while another called Bronze Sister was charitably described as "mediocre."

"Oh? How so?" The staff member asked.

"The sound system was terrible, the tribute band played and sang off-key, and the whole thing was... a mess. They band tried their best, but I think they all had stage fright. They should have started in a smaller venue, somewhere like Hargeon Town." Victoria opined, not wanting to offend anyone any more than she already had by admitting her mercenary tendencies. The staff member winced in recognition.

"I was there. It was a cluster... I mean, it was a fiasco. Someone really dropped the ball." She said while tearing Victoria's ticket. She handed back the other half to the brunette.

"Sorry about the delay. Have fun at the concert!" The woman bade her as Victoria walked into the concert venue. She found Garnet and walked over to him. She kind of liked the guy and had no other familiar faces to be with, so why not be with another mage?

"Sorry about that, Garnet. I stopped to talk about a past concert with a staff member." Victoria apologized to the guy for the hold-up.

Victoria didn't come immediately. Garnet was sure that she was right behind him, but he didn't see her after he got his ticket checked. There was no music playing, so it seemed that the band was going to be waiting until everybody was present. The Inkling was actually thankful for that and he could imagine that the rest of the line that still wasn't through the ticket check was glad aswell. With Victoria still lagging behind, Garnet quickly swiped through the news articles on his phone. Nothing new that would be worth noting. It was becoming a really bad habit for Garnet. He was slowly starting to get immensely frustrated at the lack of information, but he reckoned that he had done enough stressing over the subject for one day. It was high time that he enjoyed some music and chilled for a bit.

Shortly after, Victoria did indeed come by. The woman apologized for getting caught in a conversation with one of the staff members. The Inkling would just wave nonchalantly. It wasn't a big deal. Garnet would turn his head to the side, noticing that there were some little stalls, selling presumably overpriced snacks and beer. He realized just how hungry he was. He didn't know if Victoria was hungry aswell, but Garnet didn't want to drag her around because of his own issues. The Inkling would let out a bubbly sigh, momentarily lost in thought. That moment was cut short, by a growing applause from the gathered crowd. Garnet couldn't see the stage, so he had no idea as to why the people were freaking out for.

"Ladies and gentlemen! I am glad to welcome you to this glorious comeback concert of one heck of a band that was sadly forgotten in the sands of time...."

Garnet didn't recognize the voice, but it seemed that it wasn't the band, quite yet. The voice belonged to a male, at least that was what Garnet was assuming. Which he really should stop doing. The person was probably just somebody that other people knew and thought was important. It still meant that he could grab some food, without missing anything. Garnet would once again type a message into his phone, that he would then show to Victoria. The concert didn't start properly yet, you wanna grab some food? He was secretly hoping that she would, but he would survive if he had to skip a dinner. Magnolia had plenty of joints open long into the night and Garnet did take advantage of that fact a few times already.

Garnet and Victoria were on the same wavelength. They both wanted food after the long wait in line... so did a lot of other people. Victoria briefly worried about the horribly overpriced food and beer, but then a thought came to mind.

    Screw the cost.

She had saved up enough money that they could afford the outrageously priced food and drink. As long as it did not run into the tens of thousands of Jewels per item, it would be bearable. Victoria briefly considered getting some alcohol, but the thought of making any more statements that made her look like an ass soon dissuaded her from getting beer. Besides, the beer was usually some mass-produced market brand aimed at giving the drinker a quick buzz. Victoria liked the stronger stuff that cost more.

"Yeah. Let's go get something to eat before the show begins!" Victoria readily agreed with Garnet. She began to peruse what the food vendors had to offer, which was typical concert fare. She saw beer, sodas, water, fruit punch, and a few other drinks. The food was quick and easy to eat fare like hamburgers, hot dogs, individual pizza slices, nachos, french fries, and other food. It did not look half bad, but there were two concerns.

    How long would supplies last?

    How much would it cost?

Victoria paused to listen to a staff member make an announcement about the band. It was just an announcement detailing the highlights of the band they were here to listen to. It was nothing terribly important. Food was more important at the moment.

"So, what do you want to eat?" Victoria asked Garnet. The brunette did not know what she wanted just yet. She would eat just about anything they had to offer. Being a street kid for four years and not knowing if one would even get a meal on any given day tended to make one have a wide palate. She did not know what Garnet liked to eat, so she would not presume that he wanted any one thing above all others.

Garnet was glad that Victoria was up for food aswell. The Inkling wasn't sure whether he wanted a drink aswell, but he would probably have to say no. He could survive a bit longer without that. He was very well aware of the lineups that were present at the stalls and that the prices will be higher than usual, though. But the hunger was greater than the price difference and Garnet knew that he was going spend next couple of hours at the concert. When he was asked about the kind of food that he would like, the Inkling wasn't quite sure. He pondered for a moment, as he considered the options. Garnet was lost in thought, until an idea came to him. "Yyyeegsh!" He would exclaim in his strange, bubbly language as he fistpumped into the air. Garnet would take out some Jewels that he thought would be enough to buy some food with and tried his best to motion for Victoria to stay where she was. He thought that he failed, horribly, but he hoped that he managed to convey at least some of the thought. Garnet would then quickly head for the food stalls.

The Inkling would discreetly push past some people, most of whom didn't really care. He was at the stall with pizza slices and Garnet managed to get two slices - one for him and for Victoria. They were some of the last slices, so he was glad that he had gone ahead of people. It was after his purchase was complete that people realized what he had done, but he was gone before a real riot could start. The Inkling would return back to Victoria with a victorious smirk on his face and two slices of pizza, one in each hand. They were placed upon simple paper plates and Garnet would present them to the woman, letting her choose. Both were the same base, but one had some ham and mushrooms on it with cheese and other had just some salami and sweetcorn with cheese on it. Garnet himself didn't care much which slice he would eat, as his food preferences didn't quite reach to regular pizza toppings.

"..And as such, I will leave the stage to Altitude, at long last. Have fun, everybody!" The voice from before yelled the last bit at the top of their lungs and clapping and cheering spread among the concert-goers. That meant that the concert would be starting very shortly. The Inkling was starting to get kind of excited for the band's performance, if he had to be honest.

[Job - Garnet & Victoria] Payment for Attendance Empty Re: [Job - Garnet & Victoria] Payment for Attendance

Post by Victoria Sheridan 3rd January 2019, 6:39 pm

Victoria started to move when Garnet put his hand up and said something in his strange language. He had motioned for her to stay still, so stay still she would. She watched as Garnet disappeared around a pizza stand and got in line.

Victoria thought back to the Steel Matron tribute concert, the awful one she had went to in Capital Crocus. The concession prices were outrageous... a slice of pizza cost 500 Jewels, and it was just an ordinary pizza that one could get for much less at a supermarket, not one of those amazing handmade pizzas baked in a brick oven. Beer cost 1,000 Jewels for a cheap plastic mug and half the time it was beer that was already warm; a plastic 12-ounce bottle of water was also 1,000 Jewels. Flagrant price-gouging for food and drink was but one of the tribute concert's many, many woes.

Another major woe was the inadequate amount of bathroom facilities. There were only three dozen portable bathrooms set up for least 500 concert-goers. That did not sound bad, but whenever the bathroom rush hit during intermission, the lines were absolutely awful. The wait time just to use one was at least twenty minutes and that was when the line was fast. When the line was slow, times could reach forty-five minutes to an hour.

It did not help that some people chose to use the portable bathrooms for... adult activities. The portable bathroom Victoria was in line to use took forty-five minutes because a young man and young woman chose that one to get busy in. She vividly remembered a muscular man in a black Steel Matron t-shirt getting so irate that he snatched the door open, grabbed them, and physically threw the couple out of the bathroom and out on the ground for everyone to see. The chastened couple did not dare protest as they were escorted out of the concert by police. That brave and angry man was the hero of the night... he did not have to buy food or drinks the rest of the time he was at the concert.

Victoria's reminiscing about the awful tribute concert was interrupted when Garnet triumphantly reappeared bearing gifts. He had managed to obtain two slices of pizza for them. One had some ham and mushrooms on it with cheese and other had just some salami and sweetcorn with cheese on it. Victoria did not care... she would eat either one. She had to choose, so she took the one with ham and mushrooms on it.

"Thanks, Garnet." Victoria thanked her fellow mage for scoring a slice of pizza for her. He was a nice guy and a clever one. He had blazed through the line and managed to get pizza just before the current batch had run out. What would Victoria have done without the clever Garnet? Waited in line and hoped against hope to get a slice of pizza.

Victoria heard the announcement that the concert was just about to start. The pair had better hurry up and get decent seats if they still could. The brunette turned to her companion and spoke.

"Where do you wanna sit, Garnet?" Victoria asked him in between mouthfuls of pizza. It was not bad. It was not a handmade brick oven pizza, but it was not the cheap supermarket kind either. She would have to find out what it was later. Right now they needed to get seats before there were none left.

Out of the two presented slices Victoria took the one adorned with ham and mushrooms. That left the other one, the one with salami and sweetcorn to Garnet. The woman thanked him and he would give her a smile back, as he dove into the pizza slice. He was immensely hungry, so when Victoria asked the Inkling about the seating, he was almost finished with his slice. Garnet would look over to the large crowd of people, that was surprisingly still growing, as people who were occupied before now flooded the area near the stage itself. There was seating available, yes, but not that much of it and the spots that were left were either being taken or were just outright horrible spots. Which were going to be taken aswell, shortly. Garnet would let out a small bubbly sigh, as he finished the pizza crust.

Sadly for Garnet, he didn't take any napkins. If he had to be honest, though, he didn't remember there being napkins in the first place anyway. He would try to wipe off some of the crust dust and grease onto the paper plate, but it didn't really help. The Inkling would then throw away the paper plate into one of the nearby bins. Those were thankfully plentiful. The concert had at least something going for it, if nothing else. After he somewhat managed to wipe his mouth and fingers clean, Garnet would take out his phone again. He was typing as fast as he could, but the concert was seemingly getting started, if he had to judge from the increasing cheer.

"Who is ready for noise, folks? We, Altitude, are here to give you the night that you will remember for the rest of your lives!" The banter of the presumed leader of the band went on for a bit, with only some cheering support. Most of the crowd wasn't really having it. Garnet would finish his message and show his phone to Victoria, once more. There's some spots left, but I don't think they are going to be worth it. I don't mind standing up, but if you want we can look for a place to sit down. Garnet didn't mind either way, but one choice required much more effort than the other. Maybe the crowd would shift after the band's speech.

Post by Victoria Sheridan 4th January 2019, 6:25 pm

Victoria finished her pizza in record time and threw the empty paper plate away into one of the numerous trash receptacles placed inside the venue just for that purpose. It was a surprisingly good pizza for something picked up at a concert for a high cost per slice. However, it was time to move on and find some seating for the concert before it was all occupied. It might be a hopeless task... while the pair ate their pizza, more devoted fans pushed ahead and claimed most of the amphitheater-style seating. It could not be helped; food was more important to the pair because had they waited much longer there would have been nothing left to buy.

The brunette took a look at the stands and saw very little space left. Their window of opportunity had been open and now it had closed. Oh well.

"Let's just stand up. I think looking for seats would be more trouble than it's worth." Victoria opined to Garnet. She was not heavily invested in this concert beyond what it took to get paid. She was not looking for the seating with the best line of sight on center stage or the best audio quality. She was here to listen to Altitude and get paid for the experience. Hearing actual good music would be icing on the concert cake.

There were a few pockets of die-hard fans clustered around the front of the amphitheater, but most of the audience was lukewarm towards the group. Most of the audience was here for the money and Victoria could tell because she was part of that number. Part of her felt upset about that because on one hand, Jewels kept the lights on and paid hospital bills. On the other hand, she wanted to do something good for other people without money being the primary motivation. The ongoing struggle between pragmatism and altruism would have to wait until the end of the concert before it was visited again.

Garnet could only agree with Victoria. Who knew? Maybe they would find a lucky pair of seats that weren't in a horrible spot as they were going to look for a place to stand. The band was giving some last words of their speech, as Garnet would wave at Victoria and start making his way through the crowd. The Inkling knew that it wouldn't be easy for some his size and strength, but he would give it his all to get the duo through the mass of people.

Some of the ones who were of the uninsterested group were leaving some of the standing spots in favour of the food and drink stalls. If Garnet was that uninterested in the concert, he would've done the same. As he pushed through the people, the band started playing their music. Garnet knew that he had to find a place from where he and Victoria could observe the concert. Speaking of which, Garnet was hoping that the woman was behind him. He couldn't really check, as there were people around him who prevented him from being able to turn around and see.

The music was on, a tune and singing that definitely felt old. But it wasn't that bad, if Garnet had to judge. It had a certain feel to it that was difficult to describe. With those thoughts he would finally push through the crowd and appear at the base of the amphitheatre. The true fans of Altitude were lined next to the stage, but there weren't that many of them. Most of the people were seated, not even paying attention to what was happening around them. Garnet did spot a few unoccupied seats, but the crowd was so thick that he decided to just fully stick to the plan of standing up. The Inkling would then turn around to make sure that Victoria was with him and point to a nearby spot where they could stand and have a relatively good view of the stage. If the woman was not present, Garnet would start looking for her in mild panic.

Post by Victoria Sheridan 5th January 2019, 2:11 pm

Victoria scrambled to keep up with Garnet, which was no easy task. The guy could move fast, but so could the brunette. She had better hurry and keep up because the band was finishing its introductory speech and there was little time to waste before the concert proper started. She was having to swim upstream because a group of people were leaving the seats and making their way back to the concession stands for drinks. She wish them well because they were in the process of being picked over.

It was an ordeal, but Victoria managed to spot Garnet and slowly make her way to him. When she finally reached him, she saw that he was pointing to to a place that was pretty good to stand in and hear the concert without too much undue difficulty. With the number of people that were here, good standing space was every bit as valuable as good seating. Victoria did not care if they stood or sat, but standing would be a lot easier. If they had to leave to use the bathroom or get more food, finding more standing space would be pretty easy.

"Hey Garnet. Sorry about the delay. I felt like a salmon swimming upstream for awhile, but I'm here." Victoria said to him. Garnet had been a big help throughout the concert. He had come through with pizza and now he had come through with good standing space. What would she had done without him?

"That's a pretty good place to stand, Garnet. Nice work." Victoria complimented him. There was enough space that they were not in each other's pockets and the acoustics were pretty good. Some old music started to play, a song called "Reaching New Heights." It had an old sound, but the instrumentation was solid and it gave a feeling of gradually ascending into the sky, which was likely the reason for the song title. The sound system was properly wired and tuned, which made a lot of difference in how the music and instruments sounded. This was a lot better than the Steel Matron tribute concert... its sound system had way too much reverb and gave the brunette a headache after 15 minutes of "music."

Victoria took up a standing place and listened to the music as it played. While it was not quite her style, it was pretty good because of the instrumentation and the properly tuned sound system that emphasized audio quality over sheer loudness. She understood that arena rock was supposed to sound loud, but there was a balance between volume and clarity that some bands demonstrated profound ignorance of. Altitude was not one of them. This concert might actually be an event worth attending after all.

Victoria wasn't immediately behind Garnet and he worried for a second, until she emerged from the crowd. She apologized once more, but Garnet brushed it off. He knew very well the amount of people that were present and it was about to be expected to get slowed down by the mass. He was just glad that she didn't get completely lost. When Victoria complimented him, he would just smile and give her a thumbs up as his thanks. The two of them made their way to the standing spot that Garnet had observed just a few moments ago. The view really wasn't half bad. He couldn't remember the last time he went to a concert with somebody.

Garnet listened to the music that was being played. It sounded surprisingly... clean. Old, but clean. Perhaps it was because he could actually hear his own thoughts, instead of most of his senses being completely overwhelmed by the lights and loudness. It was truly a pleasant change. The song that he liked the most was named Reaching New Heights. It was one of the very first songs Altitude played on the stage and Garnet found himself really liking it. Some parts of it were kind of meh in his ears, but the gradual feel of the song ascending, in a sense, was something that he didn't expect, but appreciated. If he had to pick one more song that he found memorable, Garnet would have to choose Mountain Whispers. It had a gritty undertone, but there was something enchanting that echoed through the whole song. It was quite unlike the music that he was used to back home.

Garnet didn't expect the songs Altitude played to be so intriguing. A few times he caught himself bopping his head into the rhythm. Ultimately, however, it wasn't his style of music. But now he understood those hardcore fans who stood right under the stage.
