By now, it was the end of the day, and the sky was darkening as the sun fell down over the horizon. The bustle of activity around the city calmed down a bit, and lanterns and hanging lights bean to appear like blinking fireflies around the town. The street vendors would begin pulling out yukatas, sparklers, and lanterns to peddle to the visitors enjoying the festival, streets filling with friends and couples as they grouped together to celebrate the end of the day. Sorano got back onto the platform, checking her microphone and turning to face the cameras.
“Hello everyone, thank you so much for joining Fairy Tail in Magnolia tonight for this wonderful festival! I would like to thank the mayor of Magnolia as well as the various corporations and businesses that provided their services and gorgeous floats, and naturally, I am thankful to the members of Fairy Tail who have helped to make this possible today. Let’s end this night with some beautiful glowing cherry trees!” Waving goodbye to the cheering crowd, the cameras shut off, and Sorano triggered the spell that caused the cherry trees around the town to light up. Glowing a soft, radiant shade of pink, the nighttime city would be filled with glowing lights. Oohs and aahs rose up from the crowd, and Sorano would descend the platform to move towards the fireworks station near the river.
Various magical fireworks were set up for deployment, and the letter mage carefully checked the magic circles to make sure nothing would go wrong. After being assured of the safety of the devices, she set the fireworks loose, sending them up into the sky. Gorgeous bursts of golden light lit up the night sky, ending the night with a sight to remember, and Sorano made her way back to the guild hall.
Tonight, Fairy Tail was open to all, with complimentary drinks provided to anyone by the famous guild bar. The entire front of the guild on the first floor had disappeared, thanks to some magical noodling around, and people could enter and exit freely to partake in the beverages.
As for Sorano? Frankly, she was quite tired. It had been a long day, and although she had seen Julius for the first time in what seemed like ages, and met Samira Nassar for the first time, she was tired and honestly just wanted to go to bed. Entering the guild hall, she trudged up into her office and shut the door, hoping to get in a quick nap before she had to work on cleaning everything up.
