Nicolette was not a happy woman right now. The Kingdom of Navrick had hired her for her leadership talent, but she had not expected to be up against this kind of force. The Rune Knights of Fiore? While she understood the reasons behind them paying her such great money for this job, the woman really wanted to punch the next person that asked her for a status update out. A sigh would leave her lips as leather covered legs walked forwards to look out at the sea of bodies before her. It was so...conventional, each side gathering across from each other at a good distance so that the opposing army was outside of bombardment range. "Shit, they bring any more people and we're going to have a problem here. Let's hope Navrick has some more reinforcements for us or I'm going to have to leave and let them deal with this on their own." The words would not be loud enough for anyone around her to hear. She'd rather not have to deal with any Navrick soldiers that overheard it, that would upset her even more than she usually was.

Figuring it was time for a small speech before goading them into battle with the opposing side, the stone horned woman walked to the best spot possible before speaking in her loud, commanding, voice. "All right dickweeds! We have a war to win! Fiore thinks it can waltz in on your turf and take what you guys have worked for? Are you going to puss out and let them do that? I don't think so! We will hold the line! Show your king your resolve! Let him look back at this day and say 'These people died for King and Country!'" The woman would swing her hand quickly, a totem appearing at her feet to let loose what seemed like a magical burst transmission of what she had said, the audio waves taking it to all that needed to hear it without the need of sound amplifying technology.

Looking back, Nico could have said a lot of things better. But she didn't care about that, she was here for the money. There was no money in failure, or in death, so she intended to lead these men into battle for a rout on the others. "Now let's see if anyone comes to help us. Would be nice to have someone that could relay battle information, and maybe a LOT more mages to add some pressure on them..."

    Clean Version:
    "The Rune Knights Will
    Return To Glory
    !"

It's strange how the Rune Knights and the Magic Council are always mocked for their lack of presence, but the moment they show up, everyone is there to support and back them up.  Only now, of all times, would people lend their aid and support to a group that they mocked and ridiculed.  What next, the King of Fiore needs help and everyone jumps to his aid?  Regardless of their reasons, he was still grateful for their help in this cause.  The Infinity Clock shall not fall into the hands of the Navrick scum.

Clearing his throat and removing his blade from his scabbard, he looked sternly at the Navrick side for a moment and sucked air in between his teeth.  He would give a speech to inspire his men, but he is also surrounded by uncouth mages who lack discipline and the will to help without the promise of a beautiful reward at the end.  Yes, even though he is grateful, Alexander is extremely skeptical of these mages.  Nothing more than the common rabble who lack order and 'does things the way they want'.  What these barbarians need is order.  That was something that Alexander would have to work on some other time; now wasn't that time.

Screw it, he can't resist himself.  A slip in discipline, but he still maintains more order than this lot.  Alexander turned to look towards the men, women, and children who have chosen to fight under the Rune Knights and ultimately the Magic Council.  "Listen up.  Our opponents are the Navrick Kingdom.  They have stolen an extremely important artifact known as the 'Infinity Clock'.  In the wrong hands, that item can be extremely deadly and can even ruin the flow of time, itself," he stated as-a-matter-of-factly.  Even Alexander didn't know much about the item, himself, not given the full story behind it or why it was important.  Not that it mattered anyway.  He could have been told to retrieve a bag of refuse and he would have done it with no questions asked.

Raising his blade into the air, his weapon set on fire, as well as everyone else's that worked under his command and for the Magic Council.  "If there is a Slayer, let me know," he said before his eyes settle on the enemy general for a moment.

The time has come. Zoey signed up for this to make a name for herself. She wasn't the strongest mage around Fiore, but maybe she could use her magic to make the difference in defeating enemy soldiers. It was only her civil duty to serve ruling order of Fiore. Fighting for Nevarick would surely upset the Magic council here, something she wasn't willing to do. Especially since she wanted to join one of the guilds they ruled over.

Her attire was a little more practical as usual. For this battle it consisted of a short blue skirt not long enough and a fitting blue sleeveless top. Her boots were simply brown boots. No armor or weapon to be seen. Then again, she wasn't really a physical fighter anyway, both with or without weapon. Now other mages, that was another thing. She surely wasn't going to stray to far from the main body of the army.

Listening to the general was rather boring, mainly because she knew everything he said already. Of course that Infinity clock thing is dangerous, of course they should get it to keep it safe lest the doom the world with it. At least he was short and formal about it. She didn't came here to listen to some old guy's monologue. Most of all she wanted to get this over with and go home. She even only accepted this job in a sense of honor anyway, not because she wanted to fight. If she was seeing things correctly they were in their favor as the Rune Knights had a vastly larger army than the other country did. Honestly she couldn't really care much for the other country. Just another land against theirs, and Fiore needed to keep the artifact safe lest they do something stupid with it. That and she didn't wanted to be risked branded an enemy of Fiore by siding with the enemy.

Motoaka sucked in a deep breath. She didn't care overmuch about what the general was saying, she didn't intend to listen anyhow. She had signed up for this in an attempt to begin making a name for herself, she didn't want to be viewed as just another newbie mage. She wanted people to see what she could do, to see her strength. The young requip mage was dressed abit more practically than usual, actually wearing a shirt that covered more than just her boobs, and slightly longer than usual shorts. As she yawned and waited, she got ready for battle. Nothing was going to stop her. As she looked at the Navrick side, she couldn't help but be nervous. She was going to war. Was this really going to be worth it? Well she was about to find out.

Ignite and Elyx Reiaki. The She-Phoenix and the Sky God Slayer. They were standing side by side, holding their heads down and keeping their eyes closed as they took in the information presented to them. War. This was not the first time for them to go to war, but this was now Fiore against another land. They were not going to lose, that was not something that they could afford. The Infinity Clock showed much promise for the two of them, perhaps they can get their own king to let them keep a piece if they won. Either way, they were going to make themselves the last defenses. We aren't actually going to try to go through them, right? We just stick back and protect the land? Ignite would recollect the plan that the both of them had. Elyx nodded his head in response before then looking out towards the army. He covered his own face with a hood and masked his magic power so that he could not be recognized by those around him, he'd rather not have unwanted attention. Yeah, and if things go south, you can go in on the battlefield to shift the odds back towards us. But I'm staying behind regardless. We can't leave the council without protection. He'd explain to her, receiving a nod. Placing his hands in his pockets, he'd look around to see what kind of army he and her were both going to be fighting alongside. So they would just stick around, seeing what was going to happen to the lot of them. He was interested in seeing who would get through the defenses, because they would be the equivalent of a saint.

Standing grim, I stood with many mages fighting for Fiore's Magic Council and Rune Knights. I wish I was able to fight with the other team, but I know it isn't right... Normally, I'd jumped at the chance to defend an invaded kingdom, especially against the Magic Council and their stuffy rules. However, this time I couldn't. They had a very dangerous magical artifact that could drastically damage the flow of time as we know it. So, I stood at the ready, staring down at the army entrenched on the other side of us, unhappy, but I stood firm, all the same. Waiting, I weaved my best friend, and only weapon, Isolation, back into existence. Then, nothing. I stood impatiently for the combat to start. I was wearing my dress, but beyond simple clothing, I wasn't armored, but around me were people doing just the same, so I felt perfectly fine doing so. Now I waited... For the war to begin.

Maya stood within the rank and file of the Navrick soldiers, beside herself with anxiety. Why the hell had she signed up for this? This was most definitely not what she had asked for when she had decided to take a short vacation in Navrick. But when the Magic Council suddenly decides to invade the country you've just made friends in, well, you feel a need to protect them.

Maya had always thought the Magic Council were kind of bullies, just doing whatever they pleased and commanding the guilds around, but invading another country just for a single magic item? That was low. People's lives were going to be ruined over a stupid magical clock, and it was all the Magic Council's fault for invading; this was something that Maya couldn't let go without sickening herself.

But what could she do? She was just a little D-Rank mage who wasn't even sure exactly how her powers worked yet. Plus, the thought of actually killing anybody put a knot to end all knots in her stomach. She had entirely too many doubts about her ability to be useful here, but she'd already made her decision when she signed up. She would stand up for what she thought was right, and that was fighting for her new friends in Navrick against the selfishness of the Magic Council. There were only two hitches. One, for her actions to actually mean anything, she'd have to do everything she could to survive. Two, she hoped to whatever deity might be up there that she wouldn't run into anybody she knew on the other side of the battle. That would be too much to bear.

    SEARCHING IN THE DARKNESS

WE ARE CREATURES OF THE NIGHT

    RUNNING FROM THE DAY

Takumi stood in the ranks of the Magic Council's side, tense as could be and stiff as a board. He was extremely nervous, being a member of Fairy Tail could warrant the magic council to arrest him, and here he was foolishly standing among their soldiers. But this was also an opportunity to show the magic council that Fairy Tail had no quarrel with them, and perhaps give them a reason to reinstate Fairy Tail as a legal guild. Next to him stood his exceed, Coal, who had her red eyes narrowed as she listened to the general talking. She didn't like this general, but she would play along for her master's sake. As he asked about slayers, Takumi visibly cringed. The young man reluctantly made his way to the general, hoping this wouldn't get him arrested. "I hear you wanted to know about any slayers? Well, I'm a slayer. The lightning dragon slayer." Takumi waited for the general's response, hoping he wouldn't be arrested or worse.

And while you are sitting indoors
waiting for the storm to pass
I will be outside dancing in the rain

Normally, Astrid wouldn't be for fighting at all. In fact, most of the time she avoided it completely. So the question was... Why was she even here? Well, honestly, she didn't quite know herself. But maybe, it had something to do with a sense of duty. A duty to stay by the magic council's side, as a legal mage of this land. Her loyalty laid with them first. And so, she felt as though she needed to stand beside them in this time of need... Even if that meant roughing a few people up. Hopefully this wouldn't go too far... Though this was a war the ace was no killer. She would try to go about this as lightly as possible.

Standing nervously among the other various mages who were on the magic council's side crimson eyes looked up to the Rune Knight member who had asked about any slayers. Astrid's expression turned curious, silver eyebrows furrowing. Why was he asking such a thing?
Though a bit hesitant to reply at first, it wasn't until a man near her spoke, stating that he was also a slayer, did she finally gain the courage to speak up to, seeing as how now at least she wouldn't be the only person in the sudden spotlight.
She stepped out of the crowd sheepishly.
"M-Me too... Erm... A white dragon slayer..." The light mage stuttered out, twirling a piece of her silver locks around a finger, avoiding eye contact with the people around her who might be staring in her direction.

Golden eyes closed as the figure breathed in all of the surrounding scents. Few were actually recognizable, but since the nostalgia of a few hung fresh in the canine's mind, she knew that she would have to exert the utmost caution. Of those few were none other than Astrid Foss, Ignite, and Elyx Reiaki, people she actually knew. While they would never recognize her in a million years in this form, she still knew better than to try to cross paths with them. Should it happen, however, she was not too concerned. She was perfectly confident in her abilities to alter the perception of others, and even her magic would appear different to someone who she knew had seen it. Now, however?

Well, she was with the magic council troops, of course! The "guildless" Kitsune, Azise Riyoshi, had taken at least some payment up front for the battle to come, like a mercenary for hire. However, prior to the magic council bothering to ask the fox for help, another organization had sought her out- the Kingdom of Navrick. Naturally, she accepted the first offer, well, first, was given a hefty sum, and promised more should they be successful. The magic council only came around later, and did not promise nearly as much. Luckily for her, Navrick had hired 'Izayuki Hyoujin' as a mercenary to aid them in their war. The Magic Council had hired 'Azise Riyoshi' to defend them. Oh, how sweet it would all work out. Now there came a point for the Youkai to choose her real loyalties and side, and in the end, she would remain true in her word to those who had come to her first. It was their loss if the council had chosen to only ask for aid later on, but she would prey off of the jewel pickings and the advantages. Right now? Azise was playing around the Rune Knights and other legal guild troops, prancing around and cracking casual jokes as she passed by and in between people and equipment. Quietly, she was reading her opponents and pinpointing which ones would be the best to pick off first. When would the fun begin?

The apparent head honcho of the group seemed interesting, and was asking about for slayers. Of what importance was that? Very curious. Was it something her true allies should be concerned about? "Ooh, me~! Me! I'm an Ice Demoness Slayer~!" the Kitsune chimed, flicking her tail back and forth behind her with a broad, charming smile on her face. She had to alter her personality somewhat to avoid too much suspicion for when it came to demeanor and mannerisms. Overly cheerful and perky... she was definitely fairly chipper in her usual state, but now? She would milk it, which was new altogether. As for her magic, yes, she was a Glacier God Slayer in reality, but manipulating the perceptions of it so it could be taken and accepted as light-infused holy magic instead of darkness was not a complicated task for the tricky ayakashi. Ah yes, when would things get going?

OOC: Using the second appearance in the profile, the Erika appearance.

War, War never changes. Since the dawn of human kind, when our ancestors first discovered the killing power of rock and bone, blood has been spilled in the name of everything: from God to justice to simple, psychotic rage. Today was no different, people would attempt to kill each other in the name of stealing a simple little trinket. A clock that could control time, what a wonderful little idea if it amounted to anything or if any of the supposed threads of usage were realized. What many failed to grasp on both sides were that the item in question wasn't a violation of natural law but an extension of it, it gave power to those who wished to wield it, for good or evil, if those concepts ever applied to anyone. The ones who had obtained it first and those who wished to steal it, make no mistake this was a war fought with lies and deceit, a place where certain people could flourish under the right circumstances, a place for those who wished to disrupt order for the sheer enjoyment of it or another nefarious purpose.

    People like Erika.

War was a playground, not a tragedy one just had to have the right sense of perception to see the opportunities that abound within. The magic council on one side, the newcomers of this nation on the other. Both were ready to marshal and kill, but both were also dirty, little, liars. The general in charge, if she could even be called that, was apparently a strong mercenary hired for the task of leading, this meant that they didn't care about the front, otherwise someone with value would be here, this was a distraction. People would die with no purpose, now that was the tragedy of this war, dying without purpose. The musings of the girl as her real body waded through the various soldiers on the Navrick side, she couldn't help but notice the unease, many of them were questioning why it was that they had to fight this war when they only wished for peace, yet if only they knew the malicious tendrils of greed they would understand that the pure heart of Fiore was tainted by irreparable cancer known as the magical council, and how they wished to control all forms of magical power. Such corruption was sure to spread within their ranks, and not just of the brainwashed masses kind. While far from her full potential, Erika hid more secrets than many would ever know.

This deception rich environment left Erika with opportunity and she had made various preparations even before the war was fully underway. While she could only maintain roughly five clones in such a stressful environment, it would be more than enough for this war. One clone replaced a humble soldier within the ranks of the magic council, one replaced a man within the ranks of Navrick, while one was within the ranks of the guard to the head Rune Knight on call this Alexander, how fascinating really that the man seemed to carry such a vulgar way of doing battle, it was interesting but welcome, hopefully the slaughter would prove interesting. As for the Navrick leader, one of the guards in her very station was a clone, Erika wished to make sure that both sides were given a fair shot at "winning" this engagement, she didn't wish for one side to outnumber the other, or possibly get in the way of her own interests if push came to shove.

The last clone would be held in reserve, and naturally, all of them were indistinguishable from the ones they had taken the forms of, right down to most of the memories as well. Suspicion, after all, wasn't what Erika was aiming for, rather she wished for insurance. Entering the location of the navrick leader with her "main" body, with it's multi-colored Pink and brown hair, Erika smiled.

"You asked for a mage my lady?"

Shen had never been in a battle before. He'd certainly been in his fair share of fights, but never a battle. He struggled to calm his nervous mind, sitting down among the standing army of Rune Knights, meditating. The soldiers looked at him and at one another with confused expressions. Some of them mocked him and laughed, thinking of him as a coward who sat and prayed before the battle. Shen ignored them. They'd soon be grateful to have him on their side. The Martial Artist breathed deeply, struggling to cope with the idea of fighting in this War. He didn't believe in it, or any War for that matter. At heart he was a pacifist, albeit a rather hypocritical one at this point. Fighting was inevitable as not all people shared the same ideals and Shen tried his hardest to find a peaceful solution to everything, but that's not always possible given the nature of people. He took in a deep breath and then exhaled, opening his pearl white eyes and stood up on to his feet.

He gandered about the army of heavily armored Knights and Mages. He himself wore no armor and carried no weapon. He stood bare handed in his usual traditional white robe. The Knights around him continued to chuckle and mock the foreigner who wandered in to a battle so unequipped. He continued to Ignore them. The Rune Knight Commander asked for all slayers to present themselves, but Shen would remain silent and still. Whatever plan the Rune Knight had devised, he would ignore it and fight in his own way. He was not on the side of the Magic Council after all, in spite of where he stood. He was on the side of Nature itself, and he would fight his heart out to preserve its balance, in his own way.

The red-headed mage frowned, crossing her arms as she listened to the belligerent woman speak above the crowd, her back resting uncomfortably against a large rock. The woman’s voice was annoying loud, which she supposed was to be expected of a leader. There was something though, about her laid-back demeanour and her utter lack of empathy that left Ebony feeling quite frankly, pissed. She brushed her crimson locks aside as she scanned the group of people before her. There were definitely quite a few strong mages among them, half of whom she did not even recognize. The others looked either scared or far too excited, something Ebony at the moment felt neither of. This clearly wasn’t the side she usually fought on.

She would’ve gladly fought for the Magic Council a few months ago, but things tend to change when you least expect them to. She had recently found out that her guild had turned dark, leaving Fiore and everything else behind. Ebony came back to Fiore to look for them, but people seemed to change. They viewed her differently. A mage who once protected the city was now feared, not loved. Not knowing where the Fairy Tail Guild shifted to, she fled Fiore. Ending up here hiding in the kingdom of Navrick where most of townsfolk were mundane, unaware of who she was and where she came from. When Ebony heard that they needed help she did not hesitate, as she would protect them as they had protected her.

It was true, they were vastly outnumbered. Even from here she could see how different the two sides really were, and this woman clearly didn’t seem to care. It was going to take a lot more than just ‘holding the line’ to keep these guys out. The RK and MC were being seriously underestimated. Ebony knew quite a few of the mages they had, and she sure knew this battle was going to be hard-won.

This dial thing must be super important, huh? Asked Atlas, the pet lying at her feet. She nodded silently, letting her eyes focus on the clouds above her. She was nervous. Sure, she’d fought in battles before, but this was different. She would be fighting her guildmembers and her friends. She didn’t know anybody here. She was truly fighting this battle alone. Turning to her left she tapped on someone’s shoulder, “Did you hear that last part of what she said? I don’t think I was really paying attention…”

Kirara breathed in deeply. She shook a bit in her white roller shoes, as she had never been involved in such a big battle before. She had fought against other mages on one separate occasion, but only once. She was as inexperienced as they came, and the fact that she was accepted as a part of the army, showed her just how dire the situation was. They were willing to take inexperienced, and possibly weak mages just in order to retrieve this item called the "Infinity Clock". Just the name of the word made her bandaged eye tingle and glow a little bit. It made her uneasy, which made her believe the situation was all the more serious. So, as a result, Kirara decided to assist the Rune Knights. Again, she wasn't the strongest fighter, however she was not a pushover.

The man's description of the army was accurate, though there were a few people who had very strong auras and would likely prove to be very experienced and strong, for the most part, his description could cover all of them. Kirara's strength was teetering between new and intermediate. She was closer to intermediate, but not quite there. She hoped her abilities would prove to be useful, though she wasn't very sure. She felt a bit underdressed as well, considering majority of the army were suited in full bodies of armor, and she seemed to have on regular clothes compared to them. She wore a black pleated overall skirt, and a drilled white blouse with black stockings and white roller shoes. Casual clothing that many would find unsuited for battle, but Kirara enjoyed it. In the time she had first left her home, her had grown. It had grown to her shoulders, so rather than her traditional ponytail, she put it up into two pigtails with black ribbons. She stood looking at Alexander awaiting further instruction.

OOC: Aether is currently in his glamoured form

Aether moved through the crowd of soldiers as their general made what he thought might be a kind of encouraging speech. He himself found little to work with in the words but those around him seemed to liven up in spirit, clearly the act of simply being there to defend their country was enough for them to calm down and focus on the overwhelming threat of the magic council, which from what Aether could see clearly from above they outnumbered the Navrick army, even including heavy hitters among their ranks but that must’ve been only for when push comes to shove, a contingency plan to protect their leader in this war who was calling the shots.

Aether had spent many a month traveling around the world in his search for knowledge, happening upon unlikely companions and fiercer enemies in his path which eventually lead to Navrick. With their lack of magically talented people they seemed to have turned to technology, and with that Aether had travelled in order to obtain some of the tech they used and attempt to learn from it only to find that once there the people were much different from those around Fiore, most were of different species and even some demi-humans were among their midst, but one thing was for certain they held their king in high regards, and their hospitality was plentiful even when treating someone they barely knew they gave their all.

It was during his trip to Navrick that Aether’s companion had fallen ill, and if it weren’t for the kind and generous people of Navrick he was sure that she wouldn’t have recovered as quickly. He was sure to repay the hospitality of the citizens of the land as best as he could, staying within their small village to assist them with their hunts and providing medical treatment that simple medicines could barely cover. It was when he had heard that the kingdom was going under siege that he moved to their front lines, leaving a note for Umbra with the village once her treatment was complete to meet him on the front line, she was a lot better now since he had arrived there and hoped that it wouldn’t be long before she made her way to him.

I hope she gets here soon. Aether thought to himself as more Rune Knight Reinforcements piled in behind the already large army and from what he could tell from their attire a majority of them are mages yet like the rest lacked discipline and clearly were excited for their first major battle. A light tap on his shoulder brought him back from his bird’s eye view of the battlefield, a small teenage woman with crimson hair had approached him to ask a queston. “She wants us to hold the line and not let them further into Navrick territory.” He quickly summed up. “But from what I’ve seen its going to be rather difficult, they outnumber us and have quite a lot of mages with them but they seem undisciplined, slightly disorganized and will most likely carry out their will if they have no orders.” Tapping his staff against the ground he turned his head to face the general. “She seems capable of turning this around, so we should assist her in any way possible.” Turning back to the small woman he smiled at her before walking towards the general and connecting his mind to hers as a small chibified version of his glamoured form appeared in her vision. If you require a knowledge advantage then I am your man. Bowing slightly as he spoke directly into her mind before cutting the connection. “I am Aether Lepan, wandering scholar that has been brought into this battle. I possess the ability to see the formations of each army from a birds eye view and as you experienced just a moment ago the ability to connect the minds of people to myself. Please use me to the best of your abilities.”

Not much after talking to the commander of the Navrick army a loud roar could be heard from deeper within the country, drawing Aethers attention for a moment to spot a large black spot in the sky approaching the front line. The dot appeared to be moving at high speeds as it grew larger the closer it got to him and slowly came into focus, Umbra. She appeared to have recovered from her illness quite well, as it was only a few days after Aether left the village to join the army on the frontlines yet she had managed to travel thousands of kilometres in moments. She roared again as she soared over the head of Navrick’s army and coming to a complete stop and looking around before spotting Aether. Folding her wings against her back she entered a dive heading straight for him as a black vortex surrounded her entire form before pooling onto the ground and compacting to that of a human form in front of Aether, her clothes in tact along with the glamoured stone that hung around her neck that allowed others to see her in this form, though she seemed rather angry. “Aether!” the demi-human shouted as she walked over. “I’m so glad I caught up with you! Quickly we must go before the war starts-” “Too late, I’ve already signed up to provide assistance.” Aether told her, cutting her off as she spoke before placing a hand on her head and ruffling her hair. “Can I count on you to stand by me again?” Smiling at her as she removed his hand from her head and pouted up at him, crossing her arms. “Of course, but you’re going to have to do something for me once we get back to the village.”

Post by Mura Kensho 28th November 2016, 10:00 am

(OOC: Sry for the wait (if it was noticed), didn't notice o.e)

Now this was something not new for the shaman; fighting an entire army -of course not alone- was to be related to a previous event in his life back at the lands of Midi. However, he didn’t have much reason to compare swordsmen and what appeared to be the best mages that the Magic Council could seek support from. Some looked calm, others appeared anxious, and a third one even lowered his hood, for which reason was unknown. One must be wondering why Mura was amongst their support, knowing the fact that the very same council brought them their new status update ‘dark’. How could he still feel the least loyalty to someone like them? Well, he didn’t see his guild as that ‘dark’ himself, and he was convinced that many other people shared his thoughts. Therefore, why make it any worse like proving their enmity to the Magic Council?

The young samurai began looking around as most important information was at place; apparently, this clock was very valuable, and they were to bring it to the Magic Council… yeah, further information was absent. As he stood amongst the others, he took a quick look at himself and what he’d prepared for the all-out ‘rampage’ or whatever awaited him and his fellow mages; unlike many other battles, he’d taken armor on. Yes, armor. It didn’t sound like a common thing to wear, let alone mention for the shaman, but come on. This was a war, and personal issues would only be a burden.

“So, Kyuken… any advice?” the shaman asked his companion ghost in silence. The spirit ball would pop out a moment after, looking into the middle of the army. “Watch out for your comrades,” the elder samurai adviced him, “No one is sure to recognize each other in the moment of a swing of a blade…” It would be pretty stupid to hit one of your own, in which Mura showed his agreement with a quick nod. “They won’t like it at all if that happened… I wonder about the others…” he mumbled into silence, having his thoughts on his dear guildmates and their whereabouts…

Prologue (Merlin’s thoughts about the Infinity Clock and the War between Fiore and Navrick)
(For staff to look over if possible)

For those who cannot read long storylines, skip to the present by scrolling down

A few weeks before the war, Merlin sat on his desk with a pen in hand to notarize the use of magical items in Crocus by scholars. Though Merlin may not be part of the Magic Council anymore, he still has a say whether some magic items made by scholars are safe or not. He did found a private school of his own after all with only a few students. He was not in the said school but rather in his workshop attending to one of his greatest weapons yet, a Behemoth that once stood in war that now slumbers and waits for its awakening.

It was a huge 10 feet tall human figure with a body builds that no man in their life could ever hope of attaining, should this is up for sale, you can buy half of the country of Fiore for its high price. Basically it was a weapon Merlin plan on using as one of his trump cards should his enemies encroach on Fiore and take over the Grandeur of the Council’s vault where they horded some of the most powerful magical artifacts they could ever get their hands on around the world. He stood up from his desk and drew a run in order to inspect the Behemoth. But a man of magic such as he holds just as many powerful relics as the Magic Council has relics that are not from Fiore and all hidden in different planets and forbidden places where he can easily draw them out through the Lady of the Lake Vivien his beloved.

Not that he would try to acquire those ploys as it would only mean that Vivien would find him easily and because he cannot utilize the “Grand Order” he has to create trump cards of his own that would take years of research and construct at least powerful enough to match one of the Kings of Ishgal at their very best.

Kyrie opened the door to his workshop with a folder in hand. “Master! I have the reports right here! Also Sir Dubhlainn has paid us a visit.” She said.

“Ah finally, you did your work marvelously Kyrie and yes let him in.” Merlin dropped what he was doing and opens the folder that contains reports about the Magic Council’s next move.

Dubhlainn entered Garan no Dou only to be greeted by what seems to be a toy-store like atmosphere. Everything on the shelves was all just teddy bears, dolls and trinkets used for children to play with are all here. Even toy guns that would spray sparkles are being sold here. Kyrie arrived to where Dubhlainn is at and lead him through the door and to a flight of stairs leading up towards hallway. Kyrie directed Dubhlainn to the door as the mercenary stepped in only to find himself alone in Merlin’s main office.

In a matter of seconds a figure from the windows where light would shine towards Dubhlainn’s direction emerged, only to reveal the Grand Magus, Merlin. He was sleeveless and in overalls with a pair of goggles on his hand and still holding onto the folder Kyrie gave him.

“You visited us again Dubhlainn! I do enjoy your visits!” Merlin smiled as he sat down on his desk and opened the folder.

“Don’t get used to it old man” Dubhlainn commented.

“And why are we here again today?” Merlin asked as his eyebrows were lifted by the information he’s reading.

“Its about the Infinity Clock” Dubhlainn responded, causing Merlin to close the folder of reports in response to the stimulus.

“And I supposed you wanted to take it for Savage Skull as you would?” Merlin’s eyebrows furrowed in suspicion.

“Apparently so as there were orders given to me to go by the means to retrieve it” he said.

“Forget about it, that item is just too dangerous to be used by both mortal and immortal hands. You do know what happens when that comes to surface correct?”

“I know but that is exactly why I am asking what you know of it.”

Merlin sighed as he rubbed his temples. “If I do, what would your people try to do? Bluff their way to power over a tool they can’t use properly?”

“I’m only carrying out the duty I was tasked with but if you’re not into cooperation then I wasted my time.” Dubhlainn turned to leave for the door only to be stopped by Merlin’s words.

“It’s a timepiece that is said to manipulate time and bend it, however it isn’t something that can completely envelop the world in its power but rather limited to enveloping an entire country should it remain activated. However bending and manipulating time is something beyond all of us as it would violate a universal law altogether. Through the perception of time where people could recognize it, the magic can easily enter the minds of all those exposed to it while still not counting as mental power. It gets its powerful range by transforming ethernano in the atmosphere and creates a concentrated area around it that will affect magical and non-magical creatures alike.”

Dubhlainn sweat dropped for a moment, he couldn’t understand some of the details but had grasped the gravity and capability of such artifact.
    “So even if…”

“Precisely Dubhlainn, even if your guild were to utilize the clock they would be corroded by it and eventually forgot time, unless they have a proper vessel to control its power, a stellar mage or any mage that has knowledge over  spatiomial displacement and trans dimensional magic.” Celesital mages or “Stellar mages” as merlin calls it are those who’s magic is capable of redirecting the power of the infinity clock making some zones or embedding specific locations immunity to its range. (Hence is why the new Oracion Seis wanted Lucy as a vessel not just for activation but as a control panel to make sure they don’t end up affected themselves).

“I understand then my suit should be able to withstand it…” Dubhlainn commented.
“For how long? Even if you have magic resistance, something that isn’t manifested as magic meant to harm or utilized upon will is still something foreign to your resistance and cannot be registered as magic that inflicts harm but changes the environment altogether. You know how dangerous it is right?”

Dubhlainn was at a lost for words.

“But I think that regardless of whoever takes the timepiece, no one is going to be happy either way. I don’t trust the Magic Council to horde such item. They have horded a number of magical artifacts that would pose a threat to any kingdom or to their own citizens, such tyranny  and vile intentions should they claim the relic and seal it in their so called vault of forbidden items.”

“Was that why you left the magic council Merlin?” Dubhlainn asked.

“Part of the reason but the main reason is that a few individuals from the magic council is no friend of Fiore’s or anyone for that matter. Claiming to have turned to a new leaf to manage the scales of justice but only to use the magic Council as a vessel of their own power.”

“I heard they plan to attack the kingdom of Navrick for the clock after negotiations have broken down, not much of the public would know of this yet.” Dubhalinn said.

“It can only mean one thing Dubhlainn, waging war on Navrick is just as shooting down two birds with one stone” Merlin said as he continued onward.

“You’re familiar with the term “The victor goes the spoils” are you?” Merlin asked.

“Concepts and ideologies don’t just exist in the world just because they are statements of fancy or an excuse for those escapists but it’s because too many people are too subjective that they cannot hope to learn what truly is behind the curtain and yet some considered themselves mages. For you see Dubhlain if Fiore wins, they will not only get their hands on the Infinity Clock but also would colonize and bring the kingdom of Navrick under their rule and if I’m not mistaken they would have convinced their mages that they are just in it for the infinity clock. Those are a bunch of lies and slander; they would negotiate the terms of victory and loss behind the scenes and would put the losing country on a leash. I’m actually surprised nobody realized that consequence.”

“Why are you telling me this?” Dubhlainn asked as if to say he doesn’t care about the results as long as he can carry out to get his hands on the infinity clock.

“Because If I’m able and without “certain restrictions” I would help you get the Infinity Clock and I would like confirm the validity of the item you’re about to steal first.”

    “How?” Dubhlainn asked.

    PRESENT

Natalia, Dubhlainn’s work partner went ahead of him in order to see the situation. As soon as the iconic leader of Navrick would empower allies, Natalia already made the call.

“Is everyone in position?” she asked over the lacrima radio.

“We’re all set on our end Ma’am, unit Ze reports an overwhelming number of rune knights and are currently picking out locations for their artillery and siege weapons” he reported.

“I’ll have the archive mages of Navrick cooperate with us, they may overwhelm us in numbers but they have crossed into foreign territory, let us educate the Rune Knights and remind them the rules…” Natalia stated.

“Affirmative Mam, they don’t even know what warfare is like” was the scout’s final response before cutting off the comms.

There were divisions of Navrick forces on the field that took up defensive lines and encampments, Balistas and Magictech Hwa’chas from Midi were all in place. There were three defensive lines Navrick has placed, the first line was along the borders of the kingdom, the second would have Navrick defend the capital walls and the last would be right at the stronghold itself.

Citizens were already evacuated beforehand should the Rune Knights go to far to creating collateral damage. Dubhlainn had prepared a series of plans for the defense of Navrick and was given permission by the leader Nicolette for this to be done as long as it defends the kingdom.

With the help of its local Archive mages, they would have a full battlefield map under their control and all they have to do now is waiting. The Archive mages are preparing for a spell as they imbued a huge lacrima with magical energy.

“None of the Rune Knights have ever experienced battles in Mirai before” Dubhlainn said over the comms to Natalia.
“I would be a hypocrite to agree as I have not experienced your world. Are you sure this will work?” Natalia asked in worry.

“It has to, otherwise nobody wins and the enemy will swiftly take it from us without anyone noticing.”

“Where are you anyways?” She asked.

“I’m on my way Natalia…. The weather is so nice that such battle would only ruin its image…” there was loud static and air over the radio that Natalia can’t make out of where Dubhlainn is. Could he be in the mountains somewhere?

Post by Hero Yamamoto 29th November 2016, 9:51 pm

War. The time had come for Hero to meet the field of battle. To protect the people he had grown close to in recent times. The bonds he made within Golden Phoenix and with his cousin Elyx. It was time. At what cost was their success going to ride upon? That single thought weighed heavily on the giant's mind as he stood tall, just ahead of the other guild members that were taking part. Being the Diamond Ace meant he had to be at the front, to lead and take on the brunt of the assault. He had to become the shield. The mountain upon which all before him broke. His role only that was. Personally, Yamamoto did not think himself to be some sort of hero, considering he had been on the weak end of the Magic world for so long. Just how much could he protect? Just how long could he get through this endeavor? Was he even strong enough? Well... that was the big question then wasn't it. Certainly Hero had come a very long way since his journey truly began, when he first met Elyx but he still had his doubts. However, there were a few key matters to take into account.

First, he had just recently taken on a pupil by the name of Terith Blaire, a young swordsman whom had quite a talent for it. The boy was pretty worn down when they had first met. In fact, the giant had to do most of the work in bringing that giant robot to Crocus beaten but not broken. He was strong-willed though and the man took a liking to him after a few other meetings with the blond. Becoming someone's mentor meant something important: he had grown strong enough to do so, without fear of being inadequate. This was likely the most major factor in why he should have had more faith in his personal growth.

The second thing was very obvious and that was the position of Ace he earned while in service to Golden Phoenix, which he was still quite proud of. Attaining such a position had to have meant he was ready for the responsibility, though he did not readily accept it mentally for some time. Equally important was that he earned such a level of trust with everyone in the guild to be approved for it. Considering he kept to himself most of the time, there was not much proof that he was as sociable and trustworthy as was implied. Being more visibly active with other members of the guild was pretty sizable goal at this point in time, and he managed to do rather well thus far with it.

The other obvious factor was the travels he had gone on up to now. The tasks he had fulfilled with his guild mates and friends. The seemingly insurmountable odds he faced time and time again, though lined with moments of humor and weirdness. Through the recent passage of time, Hero grew to become something different from what he once was. He stood his ground against the inner demons of his past which plagued him for decades. He was a changed man. Someone who could be looked up to, in the figurative sense. Ultimately, the people he met along the way in the past months are what changed him. He had all of them to thank for the man he transformed into.

So. Was he ready for this? Yes. The time for clouded judgment was long over. The time for action had finally come and more than anything, he was excited to show himself to the world. For his friends. For his guild. For himself. For the common citizens of Fiore.

Only a handful of mages seemed to have come to join the ranks of the Navrick army. Of this handful, only a few would even think of talking to her to see if there was anything special they could do. While there wasn't a whole lot she could expect from other mercenaries, which in all honesty they were just that. One would walk up, quite close to her, before talking about how she had requested mages to help in the war effort. The woman was close, way too close for her approval, and she would make sure that was known. "You need to step back! Yes, I asked for mages to help but I did not want someone unknown to be so close!" If you can, try to take out any of the mages on the other side that you notice. Or maybe blend in with them and try to take someone out from the inside. Any help counts, and this country needs the help!" It was as she said this that an image would appear in her head, of a man speaking to her. He talked about his powers and how he could help out, something she wanted but not with an invasion of her own mind. Thinking back at the image, hoping that it would work like that, the woman would give him the okay to relay information and help as a kind of secondary general for the war effort on the terms that he would not override any commands that she issued to those under her control.

"All right troops!" These words would be transferred through the totems she had set up already. "The time has come for battle! When they start moving, we do! Show your zeal! Prove to your king that you care for this country!" With these words another batch of totems would spread out amongst the battlefield, almost a good sixty percent of the battlefield of it, that would grant those that were fighting for Navrick some fun tricks for the upcoming battle; if the totems stayed standing that is.

    Clean Version:
    "The Rune Knights Will
    Return To Glory
    !"

Everyone of the slayers on his side responded.  A look of annoyance and disgust came over Alexander's face before clearing his throat and looking back towards the Navrick side.  His thoughts on the mages behind him were less-than-favorable.  He asked for people to point out slayers so he could change the elements enchanted on their weapons.  He couldn't care less if they were slayers as all mages who didn't stand in the Magic Council or Rune Knights were absolute scum.  He wouldn't be working with them if he wasn't under orders to do so.
Flashback wrote:Alexander is seen upon a single knee, kneeling in front of a short, but important individual.  He had his fingers laced together behind his back with a smug smile across his face.  "Alexander Fulbright, Son of Jason Fulbright.  Your family is a long line of Rune Knights, hm?" the man asked as he began to pace around the kneeling Rune Knight.  "I have an important mission that I want you to do.  Take some of your least important men," the noble said before Alexander raised his head inquisitive.

"Least important?  But, sir, all of my men are important to me," Alexander said before lowering his head down, not looking the noble in the eye.

"I am a representative of the Magic Council!  How dare someone like you speak back to me!" the man said before kicking Alexander's leg.  With a clearing of his throat, he continued.  "Anyway, you will be escorting some of your least important men to the Kingdom of Navrick.  They have an important artifact that needs to be recovered called the Infinity Clock.  This item is capable of tearing through time and space and can alter our history as we know it.  This means, that the Kingdom of Navrick can go back in time and kill the Magic Council and the Rune Knights.  They may even attempt to overthrow the kingdom.  You wouldn't want that, would you?" the man asked as he leaned down to speak into Alexander's ear; so close, in fact, that his breath tickled Alexander.  A little laugh came from the small man before stepping away from the silver-haired knight.

"Yes, sir.  It will be done," he said unwaivering.  He didn't appreciate the way this member of the Magic Council ordered him to take his 'least important men' to the battlefield.  It felt as if he wanted Alexander's men to be lead to a slaughter.

"Oh, one other thing, Alexander...." the bald noble said with a big grin upon his face...

Raising his sword of fire into the air, the turned and looked towards the enemy lines where the mercenary Nicolette was the general of along with members on her side, also being mages.  "I wonder who tipped them off about this assault?" Alexander asked himself.  He cleared his throat and shouted out.  "Leave none of them alive!  We must regain the Infinity Clock!" he shouted before lowering his sword down to his side and began to run into battle, taking the front of his side.

He had a lot of slayers on his side and wasn't aware of the mole that was planted here.  He was too fixated on completing the mission to really realize those that may wish to sabotage the Rune Knight's invasion of Navrick.  All for a just cause.

"Hmmm..." She wasn't sure if she liked this rune knight. He seemed to be rather cold towards others. Even then, we had to make sure that this artifact wouldn't rip out space and time outside this world or something. Now she mentioned it, she didn't exactly knew what the infinity clock did. All she was told was that it was dangerous and couldn't be left of such a small country because it will be taken or used otherwise. With catastrophic consequences as a result.

At any rate she sure as hell didn't come here to take the life of others, just to take back that clock. Not to mention that with all the large amount of troops on both side it would be impossible to check if they were all actually dead. Without thinking to much about it she charged forward the other army, staying in the background as her magic was much more effective if some normal soldiers were protecting her while she grew plants on the other side of the field.

"Spore: Speed!" She shouted as she closed into the enemy. There were still about 3 meters between them though. On the enemy side of the field a small plant grew that spew out spores that would slow both the enemy lesser mages and common soldiers. For now, she would just focus on taking these enemies out. The mages were more likely going to be stronger than her, so she was prepared to use evasive or defensive spells at all times.

Motoaka saw Zoey go in for the attack and followed the girl, running as fast as she could to get within range. As she ran within range, a burst of light surrounded her, and she requiped her favorite instrument, her guitar. The girl took a deep breath, and began singing a little song that would shake the enemy troops up a bit. Making sure Zoey was out of the way, she sang the lyrics that would summon an earthquake. This earthquake would surely give the enemy something to think about, and give Moto and the other troops on the side of the Magic Council the chance to attack.

"There's a rumble in the floor, so get prepared for war. When it hits it'll knock you to the ground and shakes up everything around," sang Moto, and the earth began to quake as she sang, it would affect everyone within range of her. The girl kept singing as the earth rumbled beneath her feet, and decided to shoot sound waves at the enemy as well, shooting at random, hoping she hit at least one or two of them. Motoaka continued singing, voice loud and clear despite the shaking ground beneath her feet.

The cloaked Elyx and the hyped up Ignite would move away at their own peaces. While floods might run towards the battle, the both of them would move away. But they would also move away from each other as well, in case there might be a reclusive handful among his allies or enemies that might be able to identify her to him or vice versa. Well, just her to him actually. With this, Ignite would prepare her flames to create massacre to those who come near her existence. The Sky Slayer was not really that interested in starting anything. It was defend, tank, take all, and that sort of thing. Mission objective, just stand guard and hope for the best. If he were lucky enough, there might not be anything getting in his way. However, such luck had yet to exist, and it was merely a wonderful fantasy at best. Little did he know that there was one being that was still able to track him regardless, and simply due to his own ignorance as well. While he felt a bit superstitious since he never really had to hide his identity before, he tried to shake off these feelings and hoped for the best. There seemed to be some sort of structure out in the distance. They seem rather fragile, but there had to be a reason for their existence. And whose side would they be on if they had any use? There seemed to be no safe method of investigation. None of his summons or celestial keys were meant to be spies. But perhaps... He could send a messenger... I wonder what happens when one strays far. The Sky slayer thought to himself, placing his hands in his pockets as he stood idly.

Watching both sides clash upon our field of battle finally, when hearing the first clangs of weapon on armor. Strengthening my resolve, I threw my wings out, and shot up into the air. "Jocasta, lady of the house of Thebes, I beseech thee, grant me your strength." I then formed the spectacular bow and arrow, made of light, and aimed it straight into the crowd of Navrick soldiers at the hind of their lines. I breathed out, and loosed the arrow, and it flew true. On contact, three massive spheres each 25feet across, erupted from the contact point. I then took a few minutes, readied myself again, and once more, summoned the destructive bow, and launched the second arrow into the main masses of soldiers, erupting in the same manner. I then dropped to the ground, Called upon Isolation from its' pseudo-quasi existence, and dashed into the frey. I spun and slashed through the enemy soldiers, being careful not to touch the shaking ground too often. I then stood on a small pedestal overlooking the battlefield, which was raised by the earthquake. I held Isolation at my waist, jumped down, and launched forward, slashing several groups of enemies at once. I then retreated back to the main outpost, and stood beside the commander. Raising my hands, I set to work, and I created two Colossi, each towering 75ft tall, and sent them within the ranks of the enemy, having them cause general havoc.
