The city of Magnolia, a town that has seen and been through it all. Known as a party town throughout Fiore, where more festivals are held each year than most other towns combined; it is also a quaint peaceful place in the early morning hours. Despite this, it is said that the town is both blessed and cursed, for magical calamities just seem to happen at regular intervals for some reason---as if fate itself has decreed that this is an important location for chaotic rumbles. This has resulted in the town having been destroyed and rebuilt several times over, perhaps more than any other mage’s guild in history. It has somewhat refined the civilians here, and the people always expect some kind of magical disturbance or another from time to time. It's most known for its tourism and rich marketplaces, where people from all over Fiore come to trade and enjoy the lively hustle and bustle of the festival city. Magnolia sprawls with the Calm Sea behind it to the south.
The huge building in the heart of town is the Kardia Cathedral, a religious shelter which is open to the public. It has been rebuilt with a few alterations after the events of Elysium's assault on Magnolia, now clad in thin lines of silver and steel. Towering over the city, it makes the town wondrous to look at even from afar, and its metallic ornaments cause glitters to travel across the air by reflections of the sun. The people here are a happy bunch, and usually always willing to look out for their neighbor. Magnolia also is home to the Granon Hospital, as well as its own train station connected to the railways from Oshibana. But a ‘must visit’ location is South Gate Park, a beautiful park for picnics and family recreation with playgrounds for children. It has a lake with ducks floating in it, and for fishing as well as a huge jogging path that goes around it. People often let their dogs run free to play here and play Frisbee, Football, Soccer, and even cookout as well.
A huge river runs directly through Magnolia Town and divides the settlement into a handful of blocks. People often drop floating ornaments in it which can still be fished up today. Some couples also sit on boats and romantically float up and down the river at night, under the ambient shades of street lamps. Bridges also go over the river, providing walkers with ground to sightsee the various blocks of the town from foot.
People often visit Magnolia to purchase magical goods from Fairy Tail as well. Whether it be a healing potion, a magical watch, a magical scroll to make you understand the language of dogs and cats, or a cocktail that makes you invisible-----Fairy Tail is always there to help out humans who can or can’t use magic. They will always have their doors open usually from 7AM to 11PM to the general public. But their guild members come and go 24 hours as they please. The town itself has all of the modern day shops you'd expect to find in a huge megacity. We’re talking casinos, swanky bars, rave houses, strip clubs and even questionable alleyways which can all be found in Magnolia. But with a city this big, something is always going down. But as one of the only cities in Fiore with a Wizard's Guild there to protect it, the people live their day to day lives without much worry. They have a great reconstruction program and infrastructure program as most big cities do. There are a couple elementary schools and libraries located throughout town as expected with a city of this size. Most people in the city are just normal humans, whom Fairy Tail have sworn an oath to protect from all harm.
Fairy Tail’s Guild Hall has been through its fair share of reconstructions over the years, as a direct result of the chaotic tendencies that grab hold of the town once in a white moon. After Elysium’s assault, the Hall changed both exterior and interior from its previous, humble look that had been standing since the day they returned to the town after the ‘days of silence’ that had followed their branding as a dark guild. Regaining more and more trust from the citizens once more has led them to express themselves more, returning to the castle-like, extravagant fashion from days of old – a seed of nostalgia for most passers-by and veteran citizens of the town. The banners were back and flaying in the wind, and they could be playful with the sign above the large gate again.
The guild hall can be found walking down Main Street, before turning right onto Dragonbane Avenue, named after the founder of the guild – Leonard Dragonbane. Here, the guild easily stands out with its magnificent oak doors, doors that were salvaged from the remains of the old guild hall and used in the new building as well. Printed in large letters across the front of the building in the color of a certain metal alloy (specifically that of copper, silver and gold) is the name of the guild, the mark of Fairy Tail shining proudly beneath it. Do not be tricked by the classic and ‘traditional’ look of its exterior, for the guild still harbors its benefits from modern inventions.
The guild’s walls are protected by four Lacrimas, each dug at each of the four corners of the plot that the hall is located in. These used to be charged manually by the members of the guild, but they have received upgrades and can now draw Ethernano on their own, functioning like solar cells. They enchant the exterior of the hall with increased durability, and the defense can be boosted significantly by Fairy Tail members in the event of an attack. In heavy emergencies, a force field can also surround the entire plot instead.
A pretty fountain is located on the left side upon approaching the main gate. Black sculptures of the guild’s symbol balance upon it, and its sprinkling water is attended to by birds and other urban wildlife. A banner also hangs from the third floor of the building, holding the Fairy Tail Symbol within a pool of color - mostly the classical orange, but also green or even black on occasion.
The clock at the very top of the building can be described as unnecessary in this day and age, but it brings pleasant winds of nostalgia to veteran members and was kept anyway.
Upon entrance, one will see two counters on either side of the guild, one cluttered with brightly covered bottles of all shapes and sizes, while the other one is tidy and pristine, with a holder for pens, notepads, and holographic screens floating in front of a hovering creature’s face. The bar is a place where any member of the guild can stop for a drink and 'small-but-fancy' dishes. Teenagers in Magnolia hoping to get a glimpse of the amazing life mages seem to lead often get themselves part-time jobs there, mixing drinks and serving up food for busy Fairy Tail mages. This is a favorite place of rest and gathering for members of the guild, where they can sit at the tables and talk, drink, or pass time doing one of their hobbies. The bar is open to outsiders as well, though they have to pay a more expensive price than guild members.
The Task Desk on the other side is where people can come to arrange appointments with members of the guild, as well as post job requests. Behind the desk is a large board, covered in requests and jobs of legal and neutral origin. It’s manned by some of the many auric familiars of the guild, appearing as an orb of blue light to any visitors as it buzzes about its screens and uses one of them to communicate. These familiars, or Sprites, can also be commanded by the Taskmaster.
- [REDACTED]:
- If a member desires to take an illegal job, they will have to go down into the basement. There, they can find the illegal Task Desk, one not so similar to the one on the first floor as the requests are all manually stored in safes, most of which would certainly not be possible for a Light Guild to execute without the approval of the Magic Council.
If you continue forward, you will arrive at a wide lounge with a wide array of windows opening the view across the wide, green fields behind the Guild Hall – these windows allow for the golden New Years’ experience when watching the fireworks light up the sky. The lounge itself is designed as a place of relaxation and entertaining activities, built in dark bricks to really bring out the old-fashioned comfort, amplified by the glow of the fireplace in it. This place is proud to feature exquisite couches (where the Guildmaster can often be found sleeping on), frames on the walls with many of Leonard Dragonbane’s forged babies, billiard tables, and the Fairy Tail entertainment staple – the neon-exerting jukebox ready to play several vinyl records of Fiorian classics and some foreign platinum plaque singles.
On the second floor, the offices of the Aces and the Guildmaster of Fairy Tail can be found. These can be magically shuffled around, thanks to a spherical, white Lacrima in the middle of the room, to make space for any more future Aces, and each office can be customized to the mage’s liking. On the other side is Fairy Tail’s own archive storage, containing tomes and documents collected over the guild's life.
The Training Hall (or as Mura patriotically calls it, the ‘Dojo’) is located in the first floor. Its gate is accessible by charging mana into your Guild Mark. It consists of one, simple hall containing an arena built from an array of marble plates, and yellow taint glass ingrained to pillars holding up a wooden platform where one enters from. There’s a spatial reconfiguration system powered by a Lacrima (developed by Taskmaster & Treasurer Vandrad dearest), which renders the room’s actual volume irrelevant as it can change both that, its scenery and very atmosphere to suit a certain geographic region or dimension. These changes, however, do need considerable amounts of Ethernano to birth, and the Lacrima charging this must be refilled with a heavy pool of mana on a weekly basis – a certain someone does train a helluva lot in there.
Similarly, the basement holds a storage area, where mages can store and borrow weapons and other items as well as archive belongings that no longer need accounting for. This is also where the portal to Tenrou Island exists, usable only to those who bear the Guild Mark on their body. The portal can be activated by hovering one's hand over a cubic, purple Lacrima, which opens the portal and allows travel to Tenrou Island.
