Ivy skipped through Crocus, looking for this mineshaft that she was supposed to be in. She was looking around Rose Garden, having a little fun with her maid/legal guardian, until she saw a poster for a job. It was a wanted poster, and it was for a man that was some sort of ultra-demolition expert. She liked the sound of that, but what even made it more exciting was that on the flier it said that the job was already taken by a Savage Skull member. This made Ivy happy, because it would be the first job she has actually taken with another dark guild member. The only thing that dampened her mood was the fact that the job must be taken by a C Rank mage, and the mage that already took it was D Rank. That made her sad, because she didn't like taking jobs with weaker allies, she wanted someone on her level, or just to do it alone. Ivy grumbled and continued walking along, until she found a hole in the ground and a light that looked like torches, and some minecart tracks on the ground. Bingo. So Ivy jumped down the hole, and that was a bad mistake. Ivy set off a mine apparently, and she got blown back through the ground creating an even larger hole in it, targeting up and burning her clothes, and making her land on her butt. The wounds from the mine quickly healed, and she was braced by the damage due to her bracelets she wore, and her pain tolerance just kinda let her sit there and tank it. But it still happened none the less. Brushing herself off, Ivy took one last look for her partner before jumping down the newly created large hole, and this time she didn't set off any mines.

Dubhlainn was briefed of the entire situation and judging by the target’s name he is no joke but at long last it was a job that could definitely be proud of taking. He knows all too well that the demolitions expert he and his partner were after had a territorial advantage. Unfortunately for Dubhlainn he doesn’t have any weapons and the only things he can pick up right now were a Pickaxe, a shovel and a few hard stones. Some may find this a strange habit of Dubhlainn’s but he never once failed to prepare himself for battle, always armed with objects that could be found anywhere. The explosion startled him as his partner was sent flying to the ground. It was miraculous of her to survive the explosion, her endurance sure is something, and he’d give her that but doesn’t erase one fact that she’s still a juvenile kid. Dubhlainn was getting worried and that now he has two major responsibilities, one was dealing with whatever awaits them in the mines, another was making sure Ivy makes it out alive on this mission.

(As you were D Rank when the job was started, we'll treat this as if it happened during the "D Rank" time. All damage done to you/you do to enemies will be D Rank-oriented)
Ivy listened to the voice. Presumably her partner. "Shut up! I am not going to die here and I don't need the help of a weakling like you, I just chose this job because it would be easier and take less time with an ally! You're the one that should be worrying about death!" Ivy yelled at the man and continued walking along the mineshaft. Ivy herself had nothing against the man in question, it was just the population of weaker mages in general. The weak were the weak and the strong were the strong, and the law of survival says that the strong survive, so why even bother caring for the weak? This motto stuck into herself, and this led her to excert this belief on others.
Ivy continued walking, the ceilings dusty and occasionally dropping a bit of rubble and dust from it, and Ivy heard a few rats zoom on by. Ivy then soon felt something within the air, her secondary "sight" kicking in. A group of enemies approached, although their numbers were small they came from different directions. One came from behind, front, left and right, as Ivy was now standing in a cross path. "There you go! Prove your worth!" Ivy said while drawing out her sword, preparing herself for battle.

Dubhlainn shot a cold stare at Ivy as she turned away from him and exhaled as she barked out her thoughts like a puppy trying to act like a big dog. Unfortunately this was no time to question her haughty behavior towards weaker mages since they’re in enemy territory. He’s a man of few words and chooses to not let a single word escape from his mouth for that there’s no good in arguing with a child.
It begins
This cave is made of granite rock and yet it looks like it suffered greatly from the explosions being conducted here, burnt marks made it evident that this place was some kind of ground for such practice. Ivy drew out her sword motioning Dubhlainn to prepare himself. He was a few paces behind her granting her the lead in order to give her a sense of authority, for a while and pray she not abuse it. A spider like creature sprints with its legs comes at them from behind and another heading straight for Kissos, two demolition slaves were situated in front of her and it will be hard for Kissos to cover such distance since the only things that separates them and she is an abyss. Any explosion near her will knock her off even though her stance is as strong as a knight. With haste and without a second thought, he dashed towards Kissos and grabbed her free arm, spinning around and tossing her over the abyss. He was strong enough to throw her safely to the other side in order to strike the two demolition slaves.
As for him he remained on this side as more sets of spiders continue their approach and threw a rock at one of them, taking it out. The other ones that were in striking range exploded, damaging both Dubhlainn and the allied spiders around it. Now even if you had a strong stance, the explosion would be more than enough to throw you off edge but Dubhlainn stayed calm and used the Pickaxe and stabbed the ground, preventing him from falling over. Another wave of exploding spiders is coming his way.
The enemy was smart; first the demolition slaves would appear out to the other side throwing dynamite at both him and Kissos while these spiders flank them from behind and from two sides. The very least Dubhlainn did for Ivy was to throw her off the field of disadvantage to her advantage. Handicap battles were a thing for Dubhlainn so it was natural he’d guard the flank and took the group of spiders. All he can do to defend himself was by throwing stones with such force that it would almost rival a gunshot.
The gesture for throwing Kissos over the Abyss was rude but it should do her good.

Ivy was preparing to kill the two demolition slaves, considering it would be easier to actually be at an effective range with both her magic and her sword. She was going to let the partner take out the spider-like creatures until one thing happened.
Ivy's secondary sight came in, seeing her partner charge towards her. A loud "Hey!" was all Ivy could mutter before being thrown at the two, and landing on her feet. She could have easily made it out of such a situation even with the distance between the two slaves and the explosions nearby, and plus she had a little help with her. Ivy flicked her wrist, as the sword changed into a long whip of blades, and Ivy swung it at one of the demolition slaves, not to kill but to take out the dynamite strapped to hit chest. She sliced a wrong wire, and the man exploded, and Ivy was blown back a little, although the men were a little over 7 meters away and the explosion was not near enough to send Ivy plummeting down. The other man threw some dynamite at Ivy, but Ivy simply was much too fast for the man. She avoided the dynamite, and ran up to him and stabbed him through the chest, changing the whip of blades back to a regular short sword beforehand. However this set off the dynamite on his chest, and Ivy was blown back. Thankfully the small spirit of wind emerged, changing from a fairy to a wind spirit. She summoned up a very large tornado, and Ivy was slowed down within it. She sat there on the ground, yawning as she was waiting for her partner, while yelling at him. "I COULD have killed them from where I was standing ya know!!!" and upon saying this Ivy began eating the giant vortex surrounding her, eventually consuming it all and refilling a lot of mana to beyond its original standpoint.

It was irrelevant, the moment that when Ivy makes her attack the spiders will intervene and that she will tumble down into the abyss and Dubhlainn didn’t allow it to happen. There were multiple waves of spiders coming in and they came in such numbers that they would have caught her and knock her to the abyss. His weapons would be useless as he didn’t have much weapons suitable for this field and in the end he saw a window of opportunity.
He first disconnected the spade from the shovel’s body and used it to glide down the passage way, avoiding a few spiders passing by overhead as the exploded, giving him a nice breeze and boost. A mine was nearby and upon seeing such he jumped the spade into the mine and set it off, making him fly over the abyss and land to the other side, thus joining Ivy as she was done devouring the tornado. Slayer magic was her game but what kind of slayer was she? He didn’t have the luxury to ask as he proceed downwards the tunnel path that was behind his partner
what he lost was only the spade of his shovel, rendering his weapon useless for now. This was just the first line of defense and both of them knew it. There was a bridge that used to connect the two sides but it seems the demolition teams blown it to smithereens, hence finding an alternate route out of the mines are a secondary objective. He didn’t utter a word but was glad the little girl was fine and definitely ate all the blows that came right at her. Just how much punishment can this little girl take he’ll never know.
Now the tunnels they are in next have several railtracks, some lead to the lower shaft, deeper into the mines. Their fight did not end by the abyss.

Ivy continued down the pathways, following now one that led downward. Another spider thing had come from that direction, in which Ivy had whipped her blade at it and sliced its face in two. It hadn't exploded, so Ivy took the assumption if they were dead they wouldn't explode.
Ivy continued down this way because she had the assumption if enemies came from that way, they were going the right way. It began getting pitch-black, and Ivy couldn't see anything with her regular eyes. Lucky for her she had her secondary sight, which could see the mines that lay in front of them. Ivy jerked her hand to the side, as a signal to stop Dubhlainn. "Stop! There are bombs ahead. We need to find a way to pass them without setting them off." Ivy started creeping towards the minefield slowly, and saw it best that the fairy went first. As she glowed bright blue Nana provided a little light. Not much at all but the little blue fairy flew around close to the ground, illuminating the mines that stood on te floor. Why the mines were above ground and not below, Ivy couldn't tell. How they were going to get past an entire hallway of mines, Ivy couldn't tell either but she just closed her eyes and began tiptoeing, her feet being small enough to fit between the mines, and she began slowly Moving ahead.

There's just one thing he finds unusual, someone who's decades younger than he leading him. To the average person there would be an objection but to Dubhlainn he'd just stay silent and observe and the best that one would get out of him was nothing more than a comment such as before. The sound of a spider being cut was no stranger to him and remained calm and composed. The tunnel apparently has suffered in numerous explosion marks and if the minefield were detonated now, they might be buried alive. its fine for someone as young as Ivy to take lead but if she were to require help, Dubhlainn will comply. He acts more as a guardian to her than a partner, letting her be an independent person so that she grow to the best of her abilities despite being detested as a rank weaker, he didn't mind that.
There was a faint light ahead to the right corner which may lead to a passage way. If there were rail tracks then there must be a machinery that harvests and refines these stones. If one were to go further, it be but a dead end, perhaps a passage way leading downward. A mined approach implies a protected area so whatever is on that lighted corner must be a pahtway that may lead to their main target. Inventory check, he carries only a pick axe and whatever is left of the shovel. He may need to pick up a new set since stones were almost but useless projectiles, even though he throws them effectively like a powerful sling shot.
He paused for a moment hearing something behind them but it was pitch black to see, he held is weapon tight for whatever may come up from behind, perhaps it was his imagination? Or an enemy scout, either way this is no easy feat to accomplish but just how deep these mines go? It be a miracle if they managed to find a map.

Ivy continued her tiptoeing, and eventually reached the end. She then came up with a brilliant idea. "Wait there and step back okay!!! I'm going to set off the bombs!" Without waiting a second for a response Ivy jumped back and drew her sword, and changed it to its whip form and whipped it at the mine. The mine set off and exploded, and exploded the next and the next and the next. Ivy didn't really like the fact that the shockwave landed her on her back on the ground, but at least she didn't take any damage. However Ivy didn't know if it was the yelling or the explosion but she had attracted enemies, as a spider snuck up behind Ivy and exploded, sending her forward and there were two more of those suicide bomber guys. Ivy groaned. "Ugh you guys...? Come on I wanted to get this done!" Ivy stood up and brushed herself off, dirt now covering her clothes. She prepared once again for battle, because these people who served the main man was starting to annoy Ivy.

There was just one thing Dubhlainn noticed about his partner that irked him to the core and that is being spoiled in more ways than one. In this specific kind of situation, she was met with numerous explosions and yet continued to go one despite having such endurance, it’s a miracle that she’s alive after having detonated a mine and having a spider explode behind her. Explosions are tolerable only to some extent, not even the H ranks may endure much having suffered from multiple explosions. Perhaps it was a gift that allowed her to endure fatal damages and this is the reason why she warned Dubhlainn of his safety rather than hers. If that is so then she “relies on it too much” every time the little girl gets hit, he’d scorn not only because she abuse her wonderful gift of endurance but repeatedly fail to protect her from any damage.
But it’s her decision and that he cannot stop her for that she looked like the typical kind of person, when she makes her decision, nothing will change her mind and it be a waste of breath if he attempts to scold her any further and that’s why he kept silent. He respects Ivy as a mage but he can’t help but feel concern and at the same time disgust for her abuse of her endurance.
Seeing Ivy trigger the mines definitely did not work on their favor, there wasn’t any problem in attracting attention but the fact that the granite cave had suffered from a series of explosions be the greatest concern yet. Having been blessed with endurance or not, if a massive explosion were to occur, the tunnel networks will collapse and that they’d be buried alive. So it was in his best interest to make sure that there won’t be any more explosions till they met with the ring leader. He dashed forward only to appear in front of Ivy and choked the two suicide bombers, bashing their heads to the ground and taking some of their dynamite as a newly acquire weapon. He shot Ivy again with his stone faced expression and his eyes tell her not to abuse her endurance. Such sloppiness be rather unacceptable and it makes Dubhlainn think.
How did this girl managed to achieve such a higher rank than him knowing that having left unattended, she’d draw danger to her from every corner.

Ivy got a glare from the man, and giggled at it. The fairy, whom now just landed on her head gave the hair a quick tug just to set her straight, and Ivy nodded her head. As they continued walking three more suicide bombers came, in a line like fully trained soldiers, but Ivy knew that was far from the case.
Ivy drew the sword, thinking about how to clear all the dynamite and fast. Suddenly an idea came up. Ivy whipped her sword horizontally, slicing apart each of the wires on the dynamite, and then watching as they ran forward with the intentions of exploding but not. Ivy jumped onto ones back, having first dodged him running at her and gaining the advantage.
"Hey lookie mister boring! I'm taller than everyone!" She said to Dubhlainn, standing on the suicide bombers shoulders as he wondered what was wrong with his dynamite. Definitely not the sharpest blade in the knife drawer, she knew that.
Ivy wrapped her whip around the man's throat, and dragged it across, slitting it. The man fell, and Ivy landed on his back in a cross-legged position. Suddenly her secondary sight came into play, as a man drew out some dynamite and lit it, so Ivy grabbed his arm and started hitting him in the stomach with the butt of her sword, not really wanting to end his life too fast.

Again she was playful but at least for now she’s smart enough to diffuse dynamite before playing with the slaves. Dubhlainn passed her knowing she got everything under control. They finally reached the huge quarry and from where Dubhlainn is standing, he was looking down at it, to his left side was a trail leading downwards. There were approximately six quarries that are fully operational and some crates that must contain dynamite or illegal goods. Could the ring leader be here and if so then they have reached their destination. Still there were a few tunnels across the entire area that may lead to who knows where. It’s going to be troublesome trying to get to the surface now that they failed to look for an alternative route but if the target escapes through these tunnels they won’t be getting anything and would have gone through all the trouble of coming down here for nothing.
“I can see that.” He replied to Kissos as he dusted off her description of him like it was nothing and proceeds down the trail to the quarry.
Unfortunately there were a number of obstacles and it seems that there are more enemies this time. He placed a mine cart in front of the trail, implying Ivy to get on this cart and ride down to the crowds. “Maybe this will entertain you?”

Ivy pouted, seeing as the man didn't acknowledge her. "Hmph!" she would soon stab the suicider in the foot, causing him to scream in pain. After doing this Ivy jumped backwards, the dynamite exploding and ending ones life. The sword stayed in place, as that foot was the only surviving piece of that man. Grabbing that sword again Ivy jumped up, only to actually be caught by the last suicude bomber. He had an iron grip, with some dynamite in his arms, ignited and ready to go.
Holding Ivy this close was not a good idea.
Ivy inhaled a bit of air, and shot the man in the face with a great gust of wind. With this she yelled "Sky demon's rage!" and the man's neck broke from the force, and his grasp instantly let go of Ivy. She kicked him in the ribs when he landed on the ground, then ran over to Dubhlainn as the explosion occurred.
"Okie dokie!" she jumped into the cart, and went down the path. There were enemies, so Ivy pulled out her sword once more, until something strange happened.
The mines that were on the ground exploded, because the minecart had too much momentum to stop, and they all set off. All of the enemies in Ivy's path were blown away, and most likely died, while Ivy just flew out of the minecart and continuously was hit by the explosions, and landed on her face and got up with a saddened expression. "That actually hurt.... And I can't even kill any of the enemies!" The fairy Nana scowled Ivy. "IVY! Are you okay!? Oh my gosh if you're actually pained with your bloodline how much damage was done to you? That must be excruciating to your body!" Ivy stood up, and shrugged her shoulders, and began walking down.

Ivy is definitely not easy to babysit, what more if she believes that she is unstoppable with that trait of hers to absorb damage at a time. He knew a few people back who abused their “Life lines” too much and ended up being spoiled by it. Because of this mediocrity occurs and it’s something that Dubhlainn scorns upon. He need not use his magic for his mission rather he does things in a very resourceful way. Of course he can cope and respect the will of others but sometimes the thought of abuse is really just not to his liking.
Once again a soft breeze smashed right into Dubhlainn’s face as the explosion occurred. The little one hoping on the cart he kicked it off and sent it down the path of incoming enemies. Seeing as the minefield was killed along with the bodies of their enemies littered all over the pathway, Dubhlainn took the liberty to walk it down like a casual stroll in the park. A group of spiders like the previous ones were crawling their way behind him and some crawling up the cliffpath where Dubhlainn was descending down. He sparked the dynamite with a match he got from a dead enemy and threw it behind him, killing the group of spiders in place. Now he has to deal with the spiders crawling upwards, the next set of dynamite he has were all attached via chain as they were set aside to the cliff and were detonated to send the crawlers down. A few of them managed to reach the cliff path only to have their heads pelted and blasted off by whatever small pebbles Dubhlainn has left.
He continued to walk down looking at the irresponsible mess he did to Ivy. To a third party, he got some nerve putting her in danger this time but the thing is, Ivy was asking for it as she preferred to face all the dangers of the cabin instead of Dubh himself. Fingers would be pointed on him but she should know one thing, she brought this upon herself, puppy acting like a big dog. If she’s hurt then that would be a lesson and that Dubhlainn would give her the rite of apology otherwise if she claims she’s fine after that then she’s got a real death wish. The Minecart was a good vessel that protected her from the impact the mines made, well most of it anyways as she face planted the ground. He drew a white handkerchief from his pockets, clean with a good scent. A hand stopped Ivy in her tracks as Dubhlainn knelt down, forcing Ivy to face him as he wiped all the dirt and smog on her face fervently with care. She’s probably not going like it which was his thought but he’d do it anyways.
“Don’t force yourself to go on alone, I don’t want to see a depressing look on your face.” Dubhlainn would probably be scolded while he wipes all the smog on her face and her hands. With him was Ivy’s sword which she dropped when she was pitted with the explosions.
“I apologize for my insolence, we’ll settle this one our mission here is complete. We cannot let the high valued target get away from us any longer.” He stood up, leading the vanguard and leaving his handkerchief to Ivy. He walked towards the quarries looking straight ahead, alert of his surroundings. He can sense the target is near, his minions and creatures are all but slain and perhaps after wiping out a colony, with their very own weapons, they should have met him by now but where?
