Kerfuffle over a key!?

The sun was high up in the sky, it's warmth radiating down on the villagers of Rose garden. It was a perfect day to be out and about, shopping, gardening or just plain sitting outside. However, Nakiya detested the joy that days like today brought. It made her stomach churn. However it would be a good time for her to have a look around the local shops in search of new Celestial Spirit Keys.

She had heard through a series of contacts that a strange dark key had been found and sold to one of the low end vendors. The person that had found it simply assumed it was either a fake, or worth absolutely nothing and so sold it for a mere 10,000 jewel. Well... if Nakiya could get her hands on that dark key... the damage she would cause would be much... much more.

She wore a dark red cloak in which she kept tied around her neck, the hood pulled up to drop down just above her eyes, obscuring them in shadows and preventing the sun from getting in her eyes.  She moved from one shop to the next, careful to look, and to feel for the dark key, or for any keys at all. However, as of yet there was no luck at all.

She could very faintly sense a key somewhere here... she also thought she felt the presence of another Celestial Spirit Wizard...

Simon had been having weird feelings lately. Walking around Magnolia for fun he was constantly finding himself being drawn into random magic shops for no real reason. He never found what dragged him in there but he constantly found himself near Celestial Spirit keys. A pattern he had picked up on for sure. Curious he had spent some time researching for an answer. His only connection was that "The Phoenix" the source of his magic power was a celestial entity considered a god among celestial spirits. A tad power hungry it made Simon wonder if somehow that gave him dominion over all Celestial Spirits. But he had bought a silver key a while back to try it out but found he couldn't use it for the life of him. So naturally he returned it. But now he found himself walking into a new store in Rose Garden that had a wide selection of silver keys. No big all powerful ones here just your more minor spirits but Simon was drawn to them all the same.

He walked through the cases of keys gawking and staring. Simon didn't know why but he really liked being around the keys, well some of them anyway. Some just had no effect but others made him happy just looking at them. Somehow just looking at them he could tell the name of the spirit they unlocked and had a vague idea of who they were. The boy phoenix was at a complete loss as to why though. He found one key that really caught his attention. Looking at it he knew it was the spirit "Cygnus the Swan." It really caught his eye and he couldn't seem to look away from it. He tried to relate the feelings to emotions he had felt before but none came to mind... Except one. Simon blushed and looked down away from the key to his toes. He tried to push the thought from his mind there was no way on earth THAT was happening. Growing up was hard, especially when you have undergone magical transformations that go far deeper then you realized.

Nakiya stopped as she sensed a sudden surge of Celestial Spirit energy. She could sense nearby keys, although she had no idea which ones where there... she could also sense... another mage? two more? Maybe... one's Spiritual Energy was definitely much more pronounced than the seconds. She pondered on what these energies could mean when she drew herself to a stop in front of a store. Peering inside, she could see the two boys standing next to each other.

"Interesting... those keys... I wonder..."
She casually walked into the building, making sure that her hood stayed up over her face as she began to look around the shop, her eyes darting from one key to the next and frowning the entire time. These keys were all useless pieces of junk... silver keys... light spirits with no true potential. She found pixis, and canus minor and scoffed at them as her hand made a fist under the long sleeves of her cloak.

Simon jumped with a yelp when Skye greeted him for he was completely engrossed by the key he saw. He stuttered "Celestial Spirit mage? No I'm just looking at the keys is all. For fun you know?" Not his smoothest lie but at the same time it wasn't really a lie, just a slight lack of detail. He calmed down and laughed lightly "Sorry you just surprised me a bit. I'm Simon the Phoenix! What is your name?" Simple logic told Simon this guy was a celestial spirit mage, that in mind he figured it was in his best interest to get to know the guy. He could be the way to getting some answers. Before Simon could say anything else another person entered the shop and he involuntarily took a step backwards. There was something wrong with the girl who was now in the store. A voice in the back of his head was just screaming at him that the person "wrong" something about her was dangerous and dark. It seemed like a complete opposite to the feeling he got looking at the celestial spirit keys.

Knowing that raising a commotion was always a bad thing he tried to remain calm and showed no signs of concern but he kept the girl in his peripheral vision. If there was really something "wrong" about her he had every intent to do everything in his great power to deal with her, but innocent until proven guilty and all that. He refocused on the person in front of him "So you're a contractor-" Simon blinked he wasn't sure why he said that, he wasn't even really sure what it meant but the word just popped out of his mouth he coughed into his elbow then continued with a laugh "I mean celestial spirit mage. Sorry slip of the tounge, I don't even really know what I just said." On the inside Simon was in panic, today just kept getting weirder and weirder.

"These keys... please."
The woman stated as the shop keep had finally made his way over to the young woman standing by the two keys she had just thought of disdainfully. Pyxis and canus minor... she hated such weak keys... she hated being in a room full of light spirits... in fact, she couldn't stand the light she sensed from those two Celestial mages. Her fist actually began to tremble as the shop keep took out the two keys.

Nakiya smirked as she leaned forward onto the case, reaching up and snatching the two keys from the man's hand.

"Tell me, shop keep. Do you know what happens when you turn one of these lovely keys..."
She held up both Pixis and Canus minor between her fingers, making sure they were eye level to the shop keep, and within sight of the two chatting away behind her.

"Into dark spirits?"
Slowly, the silver keys began to change. At first, the keys looked like they were rusting until the colo solidified and changed to a bronze color. Nakiya couldn't help the laugh that escaped her lips, she could almost hear the screaming of the spirits as their very souls were tainted by her darkness.

"Well int he case of these two, absolutely nothing. I've never seen such pathetic keys. Why don't you try selling something that isn't absolute garbage! Actually, why don't I turn your entire collection into Dark Keys... maybe then you'll see their potential."
She stated, her grin growing wider and wider as she moved away from the shop keeper to the other two wizards standing in the shop, throwing the now bronze keys onto the floor by their feet.

"Out of my way light siders."
She said as she attempted to forcefully make her way passed them to get behind the counter where she could more easily grab the silver keys.

Simon was startled by Skye's comment about spirits calling celestial spirit mages "contractors" it made him question why he said it. At the mention of Skye summoning one of his spirits Simon grinned and said "Yeah! I would love to see one!" But his joy was short lived because that girl he had been watching a second ago just did something unthinkable. Simon's eyes went wide as the silver keys she held turned bronze. She called them weak and threatened to corrupt the rest of the keys. Simon instantly flipped his metaphorical shit. He involuntarily squawked(What? he is part bird, it's what they do) and as the girl tried to pass he stepped in front of her and cut her of. Simon took a step back just to give himself some casting room and shot his arm out to the left."Phoenix Forge!" A large lump of a bluish grey metal appeared in his hands seemingly from no where. He swung it at Nakiya within the half second the hunk of metal was moving Simon's blue phoenix flames washed over the raw metal.

This was his signature spell in action as the flames did their magic the hunk of metal took on the form of a sword that finished just in time to be held at Nakiya' neck where Simon abruptly stopped his swing and the flames dissipated. "This is Arondight. I don't know what on earth you just did or who you are. But I won't let you do it anymore. Turn those keys back to normal right now or you will have me to answer to. I am Simon the Phoenix 10th Wizard Saint of Fiore. Think carefully before you speak again." to be honest Simon wasn't sure what he was doing, it was all on instinct and instinct was telling him to flip out with a sword. So as you can see he did.

As Nakiya approached the shop keeps small entrance to the back of the cases, she reached inside her cloak and withdrew another bronze key from her own set but as Simon darted towards her, bringing a blade to her neck. A crooked smile crossed the girls face as she looked straight into Simons eyes, the blade stopping only inches from her throat.

"Oh! A wizard saint?! Oh my I am sooooooo Sorry, I never should have done anything to those spirits in your spirit."
She mocked as she gripped the key tightly. Ok deep down, she realized just how much crap she had stepped in by having to face one of the 10 wizard saints. All she had that was truly powerful was wrath... and wrath wouldn't be the most effective choice here. However, the keys she held had never let her down before... and even if she didn't get to corrupt these keys, she could still cause a little mess. This stupid place had wasted her time anyways.

"Open, gate of Canes Venatici. And sorry mr saint, but once those keys are tainted, they're dark keys forever."
She lied as a dark shadow suddenly came blasting up from the floor in front front of her.  Two large, ugly, smelly, decaying hounds appeared from the shadows, their red eyes gleaming in the temporary darkness before one dog lunged at Simon to get him away from their mistress while the second dog moved to guard her from Skye, growling menacingly at Columbo.

Simon had to move back as the two dog spirits were summoned. They were revolting to look at and filled Simon with anger knowing that this was the effect of Nakiya's corruption. He wouldn't stand for it, for a second longer. He swung Arondight at the dog but to his dismay the sword pass right through it. No time to question why Simon dropped onto his back as the dog flew over him. He jumped to his feet and turned back to look at Nakiya it left him vulnerable to attack from the corrupted dog but Simon could feel it's magic power any attack it landed would deal negligible damage. Also he didn't want to hurt the thing but he wouldn't have to. Because as stated earlier when the dog jumped past him it gave Simon a clear shot at Nakiya. He dispelled Arondight because he didn't really want to cut anyone(and he didn't even know if the celestial blade would effect a cs mage) so he instead threw in his lot with his secondary magic. He invoked the name of his spell "Falcon Heavenward!" As he said it his movements accelerated to the speed of sound and he shot his leg up in a high kick at Nakiya's head. If the attack landed not only would it hurt a ton it would leave her disorientated and send her flying through the roof.

"Gamma! concentrate, that was pathetic!"
The dark mage hissed as the dog growled, spinning on it's paws to attack at Simon again. However, as the dog leaped forward and snapped it's jaw at the Wizard Saint, the wizard was already gone. The dog growled again as it attempted to redirect it's attack once Simon stopped moving.

Simon's spell made the wizard move so fast, that Nakiya had absolutely no time to react to what was happening. His foot came crashing directly into her face, a large crunch could be heard first as her nose broke and then she was further sent hurtling through the roof. The beams broke and caved in as she rose, her descent however was never heard as a short white haired man leaped up from the rooftop to catch the red haired mage before landing on the ground delicately.

"Mistress. Pardon my own summoning but I couldn't help but sense your state."
Nakiya groaned, holding her head and her nose as blood poured down the front of her face. Right... there was no point in staying in this town any longer... she had to get going before this Wizard saint literally killed her. She attempted to move out of Vulpeca's grasp but no no avail. Her head spun so terribly that her balance was completely lost.

"Gamma, Delta. Keep them away from our mistress."
The twin dogs snarled at the comment before Gamma lunged at Simon once more, attempting to bite down on the man's arm while Delta lunged at Columbo, green poisonous saliva dripping from his mouth as he too attempted to bite down on the spirit.

Vulpeca looked down at the dazed form of his mistress and sighed. He knew her passion for destruction, but her ability to recognize a situation was lacking.

"Forgive me mistress."
He said as he began attempting to carry his mistress away from the two in the shop and to a safe place to hide while she recovered her senses.

Simon was satisfied but felt a little guilty as Nakiya was launched from the building trailing blood in her wake. He had over done things a bit. But his work wasn't done he still had a savage canine coming from behind to deal with. In a Sherlock esque move Simon spun around, side stepped and attempted to grab Omega by the scruff of his neck should be succeed he would throw the dog down and perform a high power stomping kick down on it's head. He really hoped this blow would be enough to dispel the spirits, he didn't want to hurt it anymore then he already had. However should he fail to grab and throw down the wolf he would instead just launch a snap kick at it's side. Either way would likely have a similar effect.

The spirit of vulpeca held Nakiya close to his body as the girl slowly started to come around. She would reach up to wipe the blood off of her nose, pinching it to get it to stop bleeding. At least they would get away from the crazy Saint wizard… even if it was in a less than dignified way.

Within the shop, Gamma missed his target one again, causing the dog to grow extremely agitated at the fact that he couldn’t catch his target. He circled around the saint again, the hair on his back raised as he readied himself to pounce. When he did though, he was quickly grabbed and slammed hard onto the floor, when the saint’s foot came back around to crash into his body, a pained whimper escaped the dog as his body faded into a poof of shadows. His twin, Delta, howled as his brother disappeared before he too quickly vanished into a poof of shadows. Both spirits knew they would face their mistresses wrath later, and yet none of them feared the retribution she would bring. In fact, they quite enjoyed it…

All of a sudden, a large wall appeared in front of the spirit of vulpeca, causing the spirit to skid to a stop and carefully put his master back onto her feet. The dark wizards eyes narrowed on the form of the celestial spirits that were high up in the air, her blood lust could no doubt be felt by every wizard that would happen to be nearby.

“I’ll kill you boy… I’ll kill you..”
She threatened as Vulpeca gently placed his hand on her shoulder. For a dark spirit, Vulpeca seemed to be one of her calmest, always able to tone her down just enough to think clearly. She looked up at him and nodded before pulling out another bronze Key.

“I call upon thee, from the darkness of the Celestial Word. Pegasus!”
Everything seemed to darken once more as a secondary dark spirit emerged from the shadows. A large steed with wings of pure black feathers. Purple fire, or energy of sorts hovered about the mystical horses hooves, eyes and wings. With Vulpeca’s help, she jumped up onto the steed’s back, Vulpeca leaping up onto the steed as well, however the fire fox remained standing as the dark Pegasus flapped it’s wings and took to the sky.

“I am sorry young man, but I am afraid my mistress is correct. We will kill you… as for you spirits… I hope you are ready to embrace what true freedom is as soon as my mistress gets her hands on you.”
Vulpeca’s calm demeanor changed in an a second, he flashed a sharp, toothy grin as he braced himself on Pegasus’ hind quarters, extending his arms on both sides of his body as fire engulfed his fists. One after another he bunched the air, sending two fireballs towards Andromeda while Pegasus attempted to fly them far away from the enemy.

“Watch it Vulpix!”
Nakiya warned, attempting to keep Pegasus calm while he was so close to fire.

Simon felt guilty as the dogs were banished. They were felled with such pitiful moans it made him really regret his actions. He really wanted to chase after the key corrupter but the mess the fight had made in the shop compelled him to stay. He couldn't just leave another person's property in a wreak like this. So he began setting the fallen display case's back in place and replacing the spilled keys. It felt weird holding them almost like holding a person in his hand but he brushed aside the weirdness and aided the shop keeper in setting the shop back in order. He really hoped that Skye guy knew what he was doing. As he reached down to pick up a key Simon noticed it was Cygnus and blushed as he gingerly picked her up and set her back in her case. He wasn't sure why he felt the way he did but he was slowing beginning to understand what the feelings were at the very least. With everything picked up and in order Simon turned to pursue the two contractors but the shop keeper stopped him saying "I appreciate you protecting the merchandise and all, but I am going have to ask you pay me back for the whole in the roof. I can't help but feel that was over the top." Simon sighed and pulled out his wallet "Er right sorry." With that he began counting out his money.

"Annoying..."
Nakiya snarled as she extended her left arm before giving Pegasus the order to defend. A barrier rose up around both horse and rider as the walls came up to greet them. The barrier served to protect them to some degree, though pegasus let out a cry as the wall pushed up against the barrier, shooting them up higher into the sky. The walls where made of earth, therefore Pegasus could defend against it... however this boy had more strength than he originally led onto believe. 

She was about to give out another order when Vulpix's eyes went wide and he brought a flaming hand down to Pegasus' flank, causing the spirit to freak out and dash forward at a speed of 25kn'h, attempting to flee Vulpix's fire.

"Mistress we must leave... those swords..."

"Do not tell me what to do Vulpix! Damn it I know. Give us a distraction!"
She yelled at Vulpix who was much too busy attempting to deflect the swords thrown at them. Nakiya cursed out loudly just as one sword came flying by, impaling itself into one of Pegasus' wings. The horse cried out as they quickly began to lose altitude. Halfway to the ground, Pegasus disappeared into a cloud of shadows, causing Vulpix to quicly take hold of his mistress once more and using the rooftops to try and make their fall, a little gentler.

Both spirit and master came tumbling down onto th ground however, Vulpix attempting an apology before he too soon disappeared. As she fell, all of Nakiya's keys wedged loose from their clip, scattering around the area before her.

"Damn it damn it!"
She said before reaching forward to grab at the first available key.

With his wallet drained Simon fled the store to rejoin the conflict. But that was going to take a short while.

Nakiya sneered at the Celestial Spirit mage before quickly grabbing the black key from the ground as well, holding onto Wrath tightly. Ths guy had already picked up one of her keys... she couldn't let him get his hands on Wrath... if one of the dark keys were converted into a virtuous key... it could start to spell the end of their plan. When Skye ordered her to return the keys to normal she gave him a crooked, wide toothy grin.


"You mean you're a Celestial Wizard, and can't even figure this out? Pathetic. These keys were created from Darkness, you can't tun them back."
She told him, not completely lying as she extended her hand once more, using the key she had first grabbed from the ground. She didn't even bother to say the whole incantation, knowing her Spirit would be awaiting her call.

"Vulpix!"
She called out as a tower of flames burst out from the ground in front of her. Vulpix stepped out of his gate, at first looking rather elegant with his white hair and white Kimono. However, he didn't give Skye a chance to take in his appearance before leaping forward from his spot. His fingers turned to claws as they erupted into flames as the Spirit of the fox attempted to punch Skye off of his feet.

The flaming claw would land their strike digging into the victim's face. But it certainly wasn't the anticipated one. Simon stood grinning in front of Skye with the claw of Vulpix digging into his face. Make no mistake it hurt but Simon gave no indication of feeling any pain at all. For Simon carried three "swords" the first is his most obvious his phoenix flame, the second his fastest his god leg, and his third most powerful was his extensive training in the art of deception. It seemed a weird skill for a paragon of heroic virtue to practice but he justified it saying that to defeat a liar he had to know every trick in the book. Point is he normally had perfect control over his emotions, body language, voice and facial expressions. Something like masking pain was childs play. So when Simon rushed onto the scene his hero's ego drove him to jump in front of the attack, which he did, with great success. Already blue flames were dancing on his face where he had been cut, this was his legendary regenerating flame ability, rapidly healing the wound. As far as he was concerned he wasn't wounded at all since there would be wound in a couple seconds.... kinda. See Vulpix's claws were kinda stuck halfway down his face so he couldn't heal the cuts completely but on the bright side Vulpix was kinda stuck. At least until he ripped his claws out, which would be not fun for Simon.

Trying to remain optimistic and progressive he addressed Nakiya "Oi! I'm calling your bluff. These keys can be restored, anything that can be done can be undone. So stop acting tough and hand em over." Remembering that training for years in the art of deception? That made him a walking talking lie detector too. Today was a real bad day to be Nakiya. The only way Simon saw her getting out of this would be if a small army came in to save her. But he really doubted that was going to happen.
