Cross fires [Adelheid and Silvaestus]

Moaning in mental agony as he realized his own idiocy, Silvaetus decided to break out. His patience was wearing thin anyways as a surge of anger enveloped him. Whoever knocked him out would pay dearly. Intense heat melted the chains binding the mage almost instantly. It was in moments like this that he was thankful to wear his suit or the molten metal would have burned right through his legs and arms. Despite his best efforts it was still hard for him to stand or even walk. The pain in his head was almost unbearable and so he injected an extra dose of sedatives …or so he would have if he had some. The pouch in which they were stored was empty. ‘Honestly…can’t I have ONE break’ Silvaetus thought to himself as he approached the door. Locked.

Having insanity get hold of your mind isn’t exactly a subtle process. You notice it, you feel it as it ravages every ounce of your brain. He had to get out. He had to find Adelheid. Without his sedatives he couldn’t function properly never mind think straight. The bandit that captured was smart enough to bind and isolate him but he apparently could not figure out how to dismount the weapons attached to Silvaetus. If he was the bandit Silvaetus would have simply amputated the parts…then again they still had that one “human” factor.

The sound of steps echoed through the hall and through the door. His captor maybe? Or even the leader? Either ways there wasn’t much time. Silvaetus would gladly avoid being hit in the head a third time and have his head pound even more than it already did. His mind in a haze the mage barely managed to attach a bomb to the doorknob, rigging it to trigger when it turned. The mage ran to the other side of the room, knowing the distance was enough to put him out of harm’s way. Just as he arrived at the wall an explosion erupted from behind him. The shock wave shoved him against the stone wall, shattering the other glass lens of his mask in the process. For the third time in a short while all went dark.

When Silvaetus awoke this time he could feel it. He could feel his mind at the edge of insanity, about to make the plunge into the abyss that is delirium. Laughing manically the mage stood up. And walked towards the gaping hole where the door once stood. Whoever had been there was now nothing but scraps of hot meat. A rifle lay in a corner, partly melted and the wooden butt still smoldering. About to collapse Silvaetus saw a familiar figure. It was Adelheid. “The sedative” he gasped “give it to me..now…before…” Silvatus fell silent as he curled up on the ground, mumbling incomprehensible things to himself. The once brilliant mind was breaking down…fast.

Adelheid saw one of the bodies of those that had been poisoned by Silva's radiation in fact it seemed to still have some life left in him explanation logical enough to how it got there... crawling in agony as his wound bleed his life in a slow agonizing fashion the tissue of his skin and organs slowly tearing apart.
She could release it from suffering but she needed to manage her mana plus she didn't wanted to show her location to any possible assailants so she continued her path towards her destination ignoring the pleas for release of the poor unlucky bandit.
She continued running as she entered the building before entering and encountering another bandit before realizing that she had her arrows in cooldown and no stored spells she took a step behind before an explosion happened blowing up from a door behind the bandit and engulfing him in an inferno of flames.
Then from the hole the explosion had left she saw a rather rough up Silva "dam you look like you have gone through a lot " she said taking a pouch that Zen had given her preparing the sedative injections and applying them as quickly as she could before stepping back as quickly as she could.

For a time that seemed like forever Silvaetus was lost in a darkness he knew all too well. It was only a few moments in reality, but eternity within his mind. Only the sweet familiar relief of a sharp, cold pain in his spine brought him back from the abyss. As his head cleared he felt for the first time what it was like to be genuinely grateful. It had been too long since he was last in the dark…and it was horrifying.

With his pride getting the better of him Silvaetus stood up straight, turning away from the female mage and making a few last diagnostics. Without a word he started walking, signaling his companion to follow. On his way out of the building Silvaetus placed the last few remaining bombs in key points – if anything was still in there it would be crushed by the weight of the solid concrete collapsing on them. When both magi finally cleared the site the building crumbled with a loud rumble. Nothing was in there though, only the corpses of Silvaetus latest three victims. He stopped as a short rush of sentiment overwhelmed him “Thank you Adelheid…” and as fast as it came on it disappeared. “There are still two left. A grunt and the boss. Not t mention that the mines are still active. I suggest you search for the remaining bandits whilst I disarm the mines. A well-placed high frequency EMP should fry the circuits…or trigger all the mines. Either way it is our best chance according to my calculations.”

Adelheid was genuinely surprised when he showed his gratefulness but decided not to comment on it after all she wasn't one to poke at the past or the pride of others.
"oh a coin toss... wonderfully dangerous... well it is better that sitting on our asses waiting for them to go off" she said shrugging as she cracked her knuckles "I will leave that to you Silver after all you are my partner in this one I will look for the other bandits " she said getting her confidence back after all the other bandits where done bare two or three and such numbers where easier to take on "hail to the contract fire gremlin " she chanted as she started to follow the trace of the bandits as she stored the spell inside herself.

'Monster Dice' :

Adelheid ran towards the bandit as soon as she saw him.
She ran towards hi as she launched the fire gremlin spell towards him.
The bandit surprised by the sudden charge of the mage couldn't dodge the spell but it seemed to have been a wasted shot as it didn't hurt.
"hail to the contract fire pixie arrows " she chanted as she ran towards him and the bandit did the same.
The arrows gathered on her arm as they shinned with fiery flames.
When they where very close she launched the gathered arrows towards him while he was already charged by the gremlin.
The arrows flew towards the red light in the bandit as they exploded with the empowered strength of the previous spell blowing him to pieces.
"alright this must be the last or so so the next trail should guide me to the leader".
She said searching for him.

Silvaetus immediately started to work on yet another device. But it was not a weapon. N it was something far more complex. The process was excruciatingly delicate as even the slightest mistake could mean the death of many. Admittedly the thought of just triggering the mines crossed his mind several times. After all what were a few casualties on the battlefield? Collateral! Insignificant chess pieces with no purpose would simply be disposed of. But he was part of a legal guild now. He had to adhere to a moral code that made no sense to him and he had to behave according to social rules simply not to make enemies. A struggle in his mind. Maybe he could pass it off as an accident? Adelheid and her likes wouldn’t know the difference…or she could even be one of the casualties – no more witnesses. No…Zenshin knew his history. There was no way Silvaetus could get away with it. And so ultimately the scientist continued to tinker.

The completed device was rather large – about 5 meters tall. An amalgam of coils rods and several dishes and antennae. All of it was connected to his brain wirelessly. A few last checks on the data, diagnostics on the machines functionality and a last analysis of the Palladin Mine blueprints. Now he was ready. To avoid having his own circuits fried Silvaetus created a metallic dome around himself to shield him from the EMP. A high pitched buzz and a few whirring noises emitted from the device before the electromagnetic pulse was released.

The fact that no screams of panic were to be heard was a good sign. At least none of the mines triggered. Satisfied, the mage stepped out of his small bunker and went to find Adelheid. Maybe he would find the bandit leader on his way. His drone still hovered high above the village scanning for its masters partner and sending him her whereabouts. Vine the centipede on the other hand had lost his way…He found himself terrorizing a nearby innocent village instead for a few hours before realizing his mistake.

'Monster Dice' :

slowly and carefully she followed each trail each little bit of a clue to find the location of the boss of the bandits hopping that he wouldn't have ran away or something alike.
Over and over death ends and the corpses of the already death bandits where what she found.
She even found a half a dozen that still weren't death but she decided that it was better to ignore it in order to complete her mission as soon as possible for her reputation and for the fact that ruining out of sedatives was a very bad very real possibility.

'Monster Dice' :

After following the trails Adelheid went back to the place in which she and Silver had massacred the bandits and there she found him pretending to be death the sleazy bandit leader had used the corpses of his death companions in order to camouflage himself in order to hide until her and Silver had gone away and he had even put his clothes in a body to make it seem like he had been struck in the first wave "Good dammit you little repulsive thing have a little respect for your fallen men" she yelled repulsed by the leaders actions chanting for her pixies arrows and trying to struck him with them as he dodged.

Silvaetus finally made his way to his partner. He observed her as she engaged what appeared to be a bandit that had survived the first onslaught. On closer inspection though the mage recognized the crook – it was the leader of the group…and he seemed rather pathetic for the position of criminal mastermind. The man dodged fiery arrows as they shot out of Adelheids arms before stumbling to his feet and bursting into flames. The scene was quite amusing and Silvaetus would have loved to watch the little skirmish continue, however he had grown tired f the whole debacle.

“Give it up…” commanded the mage calmly “The mines are no longer functional and your little gang is beaten…well dead mostly. There is no hope.” The flames engulfing the bandit leader intensified and crackled ferociously. Vine burst out of the ground from behind the man of fire whilst his drone came up on his left…and Silvaetus calmly aimed his shoulder cannons towards him. “I leave his fate in your hand Adelheid. Should we kill or arrest him?”

Adelheid was utterly furious and stressed her blood long ago had rushed to her head clouding her better judgement as she felt as if something deeply withing her pressured to destroy everything to let the flames consume to vile things in the world.
Not too long as she found herself raising her hand to conjure a spear she realized that her magic was encroaching her mind making her feel with every cell of her body the need to use it for it's intent purpose... wanton destruction.
She took a deep breath before screaming into her hands "I... don't know... we killed all the other ones without thinking it twice so why should we give this one a chance? " she said with a deep hatred and fury in her eyes "no we didn't care before we shouldn't care now... Justice does not negotiates with unrepentant...criminals we should just...eliminate the eyesore" she said with a soft tranquil voice really different from her usual as her demeanor changed "hey I can perceive other fire wizards and this one is probably above my level"
she said as the bandit shot his fire balls at the Adelheid covering with her arms as one landed squarely on her "good thing I'm not a one trick pony" she said as the water from the drainage and fonts of the town started to gather "strike him down when he is powerless " she said as she let out a cry and the water accumulated in a big tidal wave washing away the corpses and striking the bandit leader extinguishing his fire for a moment.

Silvaetus laughed like the mad man he was. So he wasn’t the only on who’s mind was being ravaged by a familiar yet relentless force. He could see it. The blood lust in her eyes, the ever so slight shiver of excitement…the cold, calm tone of her voice. Given the right chemical it would be easy to induce his insanity in her…or if he pushed the right buttons. It was an opportunity for an ally in his devious game of malice. Yet it was path he had to tread carefully, he had to nurture that state Aelheid was in and the only way was through more bloodshed.

The water sizzled as it hit the flaming bandit. He stumbled back, disoriented and shocked. And in that small window of vulnerability he would meet his doom. Silvaetus Positron cannon tore off one arm, the explosive artillery arm taking off his legs. The leader was now wailing in agony and pain….it was not over yet. The mad mage walked towards the mutilated man and bent down “It’s a shame really…I could have done some experiments on you. Though now…I have other plans in mind. Vine! Lunch is ready…” On command the centipede crawled ever so slowly toward the soon-to-be-dead man. And the meal began. The crunch of bones and squishing sound of soft tissue was all that would be heard. “Now then miss Adelheid. I believe we have a reward to collect…or would or rather watch this little show” he pointed towards the feeding creature.

Adelheid looked at Silva and fire a slip second there her eyes almost seemed to shine crimson as her inhuman blood lust was fully directed at him "Don't misunderstand me Silva even at my worse I'm not interested at senseless bloodshed" she said breathing deeply and sighing "I'm a pyromaniac and I used water because I wanted to calm down" she explained weeping her sweat off her forehead before starting to walk towards the carriage at a slow peace "I will leave the collecting of the reward to don't take more than what we agreed" she said waving her hand as a good bye sign "I'm out of here I had my share of useless conflict for a month or two "

And so this eventful day came to an end. With just a simple wave goodbye Silvaetus parted from Adelheid, slightly disappointed that he misjudged her character. At least he got to kill a few people; though it was somewhat costly...removing his mask would be a pain...literally.
The mage waited for his pet to finish its meal before leaving the village for good. Considering that the two magi originally arrived via carriage, the way back on foot took somewhat longer. At nightfall he arrived at the library once more, delivering the good news to the client. And as promised he only took his share of the reward.
