Post by Zuo Cii 20th April 2014, 5:46 pm

Today Zuo had a special game planned for a special member of his guild for a special occasion. He spoke into the marble that made up his guild hall so that his voice projected all through out the guild hall "All Lamia Scale guild mages, I would like to report a special task for you all. I want the swords of Zhu Feng on my desk by the end of the hour. Anyone who can do this will be granted the title of C-Rank. Zhu Feng if you can keep your weapons off my desk for 1 hour you yourself will be promoted to C-Rank. With that I wish you all the very best of luck and I hope to be seeing you all soon." With that Zuo kicked back in his office chair and prepared to watch the fire works.

2k words at least over any number of posts.
You can invite other members into the thread to make things more interesting however if you can keep all your opponents as NPC generic guild members.

With all that in mind, go nuts. You are being graded on your creative writing, quality of writing and usage of the prompt. Obsessive fluff to hit the word requirement will be frowned upon while active and meaning full posts will be graded more favorably. As I think lowly of C-Rank exams you are almost guaranteed to pass but high performance can earn extra honor points.

Zhu Feng's Test Application Empty Re: Zhu Feng's Test Application

Post by ZhuFeng 21st April 2014, 7:55 pm

Zhu heard the challenge that Zuo had just issued and instantly he looked at all of the guild members who them as around the guild bar. All of these people were now his enemies and he was going to treat them as such. Still he couldn’t outright kill other members of his guild even though they might be weaker than he was they were still his comrades. He swore as he realized that Zuo knew exactly what kind of position he had put Zhu into and this was something he was just going to have to deal with. One particularly eager mage rushed him going for Steel claw that was currently equipped. Zhu sighed as he simply punched the mage in the face hearing several things crack. Clearly the mage thought he had the element of surprise, but he had been sadly mistaken.

With this threat taken care of Zhu stood up from his spot in the bar and kicked the stool he had been sitting on away as he drew his sword and its sheath “If you want to try it then I shall not hold it against you, but be warned I shall beat you to within an inch of your pathetic lives.” A few of the mages looked to each other and then back at Zhu. Thankfully several of them backed off, but there were a few who took steps towards him. One of them raised his fingers pointing them like guns at Zhu. He realized only too late what he was doing when a bolt of energy smashed into his chest. Zhu grunted in pain as he was knocked back into the bar. After a minute he heard the sounds of chains clinking and looked up in time to see a large chain surging towards him. Zhu was faster on the draw however.

He lifted his saya up to the chain and quickly used it to snare the chain around it. With this done he yanked on the saya and this succeeded in dragging the offending mage off of his feet. Zhu rushed forward as fast as he could still using the snared chain to drag the mage closer to him. When he was finally within range he flipped his sword around and slashed the mage’s face with the back of his blade. This strike would hurt a lot, but it wasn’t lethal. Indeed the attacked mage gave a shout of pain and his chain spell vanished. Zhu didn’t wait for the other mage to recover however and he charged him. The mage began to fire blast after blast towards Zhu, but Zhu used his saya to smack the magic bullets out of his face and he continued to close the distance.

He raised his sword and Saya up to strike the mage, but was struck in the chest with another bullet of magic. Zhu’s adrenaline was pumping and although the shot hurt and pushed him back a few inches he still swung his saya smashing it into one side of the mage’s head while he slashed the back of his blade against the bullet mage’s ribs.

Zhu Feng's Test Application Empty Re: Zhu Feng's Test Application

Post by ZhuFeng 21st April 2014, 8:42 pm

The bullet mage dropped to the floor and Zhu smashed his saya into his head again for good measure sending him into unconsciousness. He looked up to the other mages who were all in the bar with him. None of them so much as moved in fact most of them looked very afraid of him. This is what he wanted of course what he wanted to have happen. He really didn’t want to fight every member of the guild in the first place. With satisfaction that he wouldn’t get any further fight from the members in the bar he sheathed his sword and tied it back to his belt as he walked out of the bar area.

He didn’t make it very far however. The moment he stepped out of the bar he was slammed into the wall by a giant of a man. The man’s arm was scaled and looked very beastly in appearance. Clearly this guy was a takeover type mage. Zhu swore as he punched the man in the stomach and then in his ribs as he tried to get away. Thankfully while the man was very large and could be quite the opponent he wasn’t able to change his soft torso and so the hits landed with full effect.

As the man let Zhu go the one-eyed mage took the chance to smash his fist into the man’s face. Much to Zhu’s grateful soul this caused the takeover mage to step back even more and allowed him more room to escape. Zhu was quick to roll away and when he landed he put his hands on the ground and slowly pulled them up. As he did this two blades began to form in his hands and once their tips were touching the ground he gripped them and quickly whipped around to face his attacker. He really couldn’t hold back anymore.

Zhu sighed as he looked at the Takeover mage who was now standing ready for battle. Zhu really didn’t want to hurt anyone in the guild, but he had been pushed to the point of no return now. He had to win by any means necessary even if that meant causing serious harm to his comrades. He wouldn’t kill a single one of them, but he would make sure they never thought about challenging him like this ever again. The Takeover mage rushed Zhu once more and aimed a punch at his head. Zhu was faster and more skilled so this clumsy shot was no threat to him. He used one of his blades to slap away the mage’s scaled arm. Thankfully it was protected from the sharpness of the blade by the scales on the arm. With the attack stopped Zhu slapped the flat of his right blade against the mage’s head leaving a nice thick red mark where the blade struck.

Zhu smirked as he backed away as quickly as he could the mage he was fighting holding his head where the blade had struck him. He glared at Zhu with death in his eyes and Zhu realized that he really couldn’t hold back anymore, and so he began to put the two halves of his blade staff together getting ready to fight mono- e- mono.

Zhu Feng's Test Application Empty Re: Zhu Feng's Test Application

Post by ZhuFeng 22nd April 2014, 10:08 am

With his blade staff at the ready he waited for his opponent to make the next move. He didn’t have long to wait as the temper of a takeover mage was always something that could always be called short and irrational. This mage was no exception. He rushed at Zhu with the brains of a lesser animal. In fact Zhu could’ve sworn he heard the mage growl. Zhu raised his weapon and blew on the blades slowly. He saw wisps of coldness come from the blades and he knew the ability of Ice Demons was in effect.

As the bigger mage neared him he tensed up slightly and at the last possible moment he chose to strike. He used the flat of the blade to block yet another strike and this time he whipped around sliding Ice Demons behind him slicing into the Takeover Mage specifically on his thigh. He didn’t stop there as he spun around behind the mage and slapped the flat of one of the blades against the mage’s back. With this he took the chance to deliver another strike to him this time Zhu slashed through the back of the mage’s left calf. This strike caused the mage to fall to the ground hitting it rather hard.

Zhu sighed as he walked up behind the mage noticing that his opponent’s movements were far slower now than they had been only a moment ago. He pressed his foot down on the mage’s back forcing him to the ground “Stay down….if you continue to fight I will have no choice but to hurt you even more, and that is not something I wish to do. This battle is over and you have lost.” As he turned around the mage grunted showing signs that he was still considering himself in the fight.

This act of defiance caused Zhu to sigh heavily in sorrow. He hated it when weak people didn’t know that they were weak and when to stop. He turned around and slapped the mage with the flat of his blades five more times these hits landing on either side of the mage’s head. With these final blows the mage collapsed out for the count. Zhu sighed heavily as he really hated having to do things like this to weaklings, but this mage had given him no other options.

With all of these deep feelings however left Zhu wide open to attack and he was struck hard by an unseen force. He swore as he was sent flying forward. As he hit the ground he landed on his back and jumped to his feet with a loud grunt of pain. The one who had sent him flying was standing several meters away now and in front of him was a giant pillar of wood. Zhu stood up straighter flexing himself out to pop his bones back into place and to unwind. The mage looked at Zhu with a smirk “Nothing personal Zhu it’s just that I have to beat you and take your swords the Zuo. I deserve that rank more than you do.” Zhu chuckled as he spun the blade staff in one of his hands “Uh huh. Well if you can beat me then you can have the rank, until then it’s time to see if you truly are worthy of it.”

Zhu Feng's Test Application Empty Re: Zhu Feng's Test Application

Post by ZhuFeng 22nd April 2014, 11:07 am

The man placed his hands against the ground and muttered something. Zhu didn’t want to wait to see what would happen and he rushed forward doing his best to zigzag his way closer to the new opponent. As he ran however the pillar of wood trembled and several long shafts of wood shot from the top all of them aiming in different directions causing Zhu to have to become very creative in how he dodged them. Despite his awesome evasive ability he was still struck by one of them as they passed him. He gasped and grunted in pain as he fell to the ground holding his side where he was struck.

He had to think quickly and he came up with the brilliant idea. He pulled apart his blade staff and they shone brightly. As they shone they began to transform until instead of two swords Zhu was holding two one handed axes. These things were enormous even for being one handed weapons, but Zhu didn’t mind he lifted them up so they were at the ready. Even with all of his talent however it was clear that these weapons were heavy, and a little hard for even Zhu to wield with precise skill. He stood up and brought both axe blades up with him cutting through the wooden shafts with amazing ease. He knew that wood would go down to his axes rather well.

He leapt up into the air using the wood shafts as platforms to continue climbing up. He arrived at the top and ran down the giant wooden pillar towards the wood make mage. This seemed to dishearten the mage as he quickly backed away trying to cast another spell. Unfortunately for him he was too slow to really defend against Zhu’s attack. Zhu swung his right axe “Heaven” at the mage at the last second he flipped it so the flat of the axe struck the mage. The force of this attack not only sent the mage flying but it also caused Zhu to spin around in a circle before he landed on the solid marble floor once more and faced his enemy.

The mage wasn’t finished as he cast another spell placing his hands on the ground a dozen human looking shapes surged up to try and smack into Zhu. He growled and cut down two of them who would’ve struck him. He wasn’t a novice and he was more than annoyed that this wood-make mage would even challenge him. He rushed forward swinging the twin axes in front of him cutting down the wooden spell. The maker of these wooden figures was truly terrified he couldn’t fathom why his spells weren’t having the desired effects. Zhu landed right in front of him and slammed his left hand axe “Earth” into the mage’s left side with the flat of the weapon. Once more the wood making mage was sent flying, but this time he struck a wall and that was the end of it. Zhu stood there victorious, but as he looked around even more all he felt was anger. He dismissed his blades and then pressed his hands together pulling them apart “Soar Green dragon.” He said and in his hands formed his favorite weapon in his arsenal. With green dragon in hand he walked up through the guild hall looking for Zuo’s Office. He had words for his Guild Master, and he would be heard. As he walked up the stairs however he noticed a clock and saw he still had five minutes before the time limit was up so he had to be careful.

Post by Zuo Cii 22nd April 2014, 4:13 pm

Zuo listened to Zhu's battling in the guild hall and wasn't too terribly surprised to find that Zhu had triumphed over his other guild members. He was however a little disappointed that no mages who were really strong enough to challenge him had appeared to fight Zhu but rather he had been fighting mages a solid notch below him. As Zhu came in wielding Green Dragon Zuo stood a walked to an open window. "Ah hello Zhu I'm glad you could make it. I am sure you are wondering why I pit the entire guild against you and I can assure you it was for a good reason. But I want to know if you could figure it out yourself first." He tapped the marble with his finger, he never doubted for a second Zhu's strength but did have other doubts that he was hoping this exam would wash away.

Zhu stormed to the front of Zuo's desk and stopped dead as he heard Zuo's question. He knew that Zhu would be able to come out on top of this little test, but he wanted to know something else about him. He frowned and thought a moment before he shrugged "I am assuming you are wise and since you knew i would emerge victoriously you wanted me to learn something about myself. Or perhaps you wanted to see if I was as bloodthirsty as i seem to be. I think you wanted to see if I would spare their lives because they were Lamia Scale, or if I would just slay them out right. Am I close?" he asked still he was angry and he stood there holding Green Dragon tightly.

Zuo casually stroked the end of his beard "You are not too terribly far off. The truth comes down to the meaning of Lamia Scale. I founded this guild so I could help make directionless mages into heroes, people capable of helping the world. With that in mind what do you think this trial was really about?" He crooked his head to the side and stared at Zhu Feng curious as to his responce. Zuo believed he had learned what was intended even if he knew it or not, the earth mage was more curious what Zhu thought this was about.

Zhu sighed as he dismissed Green Dragon instead summoning up his normal weapon Iron Fang. He tied the blade to his belt as he thought "hmmm...Well then...You wanted to see if I had what it takes to be a hero. A hero who is strong, but also merciful. One who doesn't kill for the sheer joy of killing. Beyond that I don't pretend I am at a level to fathom your thoughts Master Zuo." he uncrossed his arms sighing softly "However, I think there could've been a much better way to do this. I'd rather my comrades not want my head, or swords."

"However, I think there could've been a much better way to do this. I'd rather my comrades not want my head, or swords." Zuo shook his head "Our world is not a perfect one. Sadly many times the people you are trying to save will be the ones to bring you down. While you have learned enough to pass, I believe you should think on this. The potentially senile old man then waved Zhu Feng off "Now why don't you go help our in the infirmary I heard they just got a handful of new patients."
