Lost Puppies (Solo)

Job Requirements: Find the seven missing puppies! And return them too your client. Minimum of 15 posts. 150 words per post.

Job Location: Magnolia Town

Job Description: It seems a the owner of a proud litter of puppies that he was just about to sell has made a critical mistake! He left the pen opened by a hair, and the pups have gotten loose! They're insanely quick, and villagers have spotted them here and there for the past few days; some of them have even fed them! They're adorable, and it's not too hard to find them and gain their trust. Please bring them home!

Zhu walked into Magnolia town with a rather relaxed look upon his face. The party in the Lamia Scale guild hall went wonderfully, and he was perfectly relaxed from the time he spent partying, eating, and enjoying the guild. It was one of the few times that he could do such a thing without really worrying about a confrontation. As he walked into Magnolia town however he noticed a puppy running past him. He didn’t notice the collar around its neck, but no one really seemed to be chasing after it so he was a bit confused as to why a puppy would just be roaming around with no one to want it or try to obtain it. His answer soon came when he saw a young man rush past him giving chase to the puppy. It was slightly amusing to watch, but Zhu could tell that the man was having troubles.

Zhu turned and gave chase as well. However, as he ran he ended up passing the man and even start catching up to the puppy. He was much faster than the man had been so it was a much easier task to catch up to the little dog. After a few more moments he dropped down and grabbed the puppy by the scruff of its neck and its hindquarters. The puppy yelped in surprise, but there was no pain that was inflicted upon the little canine. Zhu carefully picked up the puppy and held it in his arms turning to the youth with a smile “Here you are. It looked like you needed some help.” The man took the pup from Zhu a little intimidated by Zhu’s rough appearance. After a moment he smiled and nodded his head “I could use your help. There are six more. Could you go and find them for me and bring them back to me?”

Zhu couldn’t believe what he had just been asked, but he thought to himself. Finally he spoke “Well where do you want me to bring them to, and how much would you be able to pay me for my services?” The man thought for a moment and then smiled “I would be able to pay you 1000 jewels for your services. With your skills this would be a very simple mission. I only ask that you do not harm the puppies in any way, and bring all six of them back to me. If you do that then the deal is struck. Sound fair to you?” he asked as he began to pet the puppy in his arms. Zhu smiled and looked at the puppy stroking its head “Sounds like a perfectly sound deal. Alright I will go ahead and find your lost puppies and bring them to you safely.”

With the bargain struck the man seemed happy and he gave Zhu a scroll with the address of where the puppies were to be delivered on it were the names and genders of all of the puppies, he even managed to put down identifying characteristics. With this Zhu scratched off the name of the puppy he had just caught. Zhu took the card and tucked it into his pocket. He knew what he had to do, and he was going to go ahead and get to work. He turned and left the man alone as he took the puppy back to its proper place. Zhu knew that the puppies would be in town still, but the where in town would be the hard part about this mission. There were six more puppies that he would have to obtain, but thankfully he had some idea of how to gain their attention and get them to come right to him.

As he walked through magnolia town he kept his eye out for any sign of one of the many puppies. He walked into the nearby park keeping his eye out for dogs. He didn’t have to wait very long before he caught a glimpse of a puppy by a park bench eating a hot dog that was given to him by a little boy. Zhu smiled and pulled out the scroll as he walked up to the pair of them. The puppy in question was black in color with fur around its face being white almost looking like some kind of mask. According to the scroll this puppy’s name was Lilly. It was obviously female from the name so Zhu simply smiled and knelt down a few steps away “Lilly. Come here girl.” The puppy turned to him with the hot dog still in its mouth. He smiled and clapped his hands “Come here girl.”

The puppy’s tail began to wag as fast as it was able and it trotted over to Zhu before it continued to eat its prize. Zhu chuckled and pet Lilly’s head gently as she ate. He didn’t want to disturb her as if she was full it would make her far more agreeable than if she was interrupted and thus became agitated. He didn’t have long to wait as she wolfed down the hot dog as fast as she could. When she finished Zhu picked her up carefully smiling as he held her in his arms and took her away from the scene and back to her owner. He was down two puppies and had only five more to find. He doubted that all of them would be this easy, but he would still find them and bring them back to their owner. After a few more minutes he arrived at the location on the scroll.

The location was a decent sized home, but the really interesting part was the fact that the outside yard was completely fenced off now, from the look of the fence it was brand new. Behind the fence was a puppy pen where the first of the puppies known as Samson was sleeping clearly tired form its chase. Clearly the fence had been built in order to keep the puppies from escaping from the yard if they managed to get out of their outdoor pen. Nearby sitting in a lawn chair watching the puppy was the young man who had just hired Zhu. As Zhu walked into the yard through the gate he spoke “I brought Lilly here for you. There are still five more, but I will obtain them soon.” He set Lilly down in the pen before he pulled out the scroll and crossed her name off the list.

The owner smiled widely and then looked to the two siblings in the play pen “Thank you so much. You’re very good at this. Well hurry and find the next five before it grows too dark.” Zhu waved the comment away as he left the yard and resumed his hunt for the puppies. He looked at the scroll and discovered that the remaining five were a mix of boys and girls. There were two girls and three boys. So the breakdown of all seven were three girls and four boys. He thought about the next place a puppy would go and soon he was distracted by the sound of a dog barking. He looked up to see one of the puppies chasing after a cat. Despite the cat being a bit bigger than the puppy it was still running. The puppy giving chase was named Toby on the list Zhu had.

Zhu decided that he would give chase and he followed after the pair of animals. The chase finally came to an end when the two animals came to a tree. The cat ran up the tree hissing and batting at the little puppy who was at the base of the tree barking loudly. Zhu chuckled softly to himself as he walked up behind the little eager puppy. He then leaned down and snatched up the puppy causing it to yelp out in great surprise. It began to squirm and wiggle in Zhu’s grasp trying to get himself free of being caught. Despite being caught Toby was still busy barking at the cat trying to get at the feline it had managed to tree. Zhu simply chuckled and let the puppy bark away working out its massive energy as it continued to squirm in his grasp trying to take its freedom.

After several minutes of this frantic squirming the puppy finally seemed to settle down and relax. Its barking came less frequently, and it even began to pant softly from it’s over exertion. Zhu chuckled and turned to walk away, but as he was about to do that he saw another of the puppies was running up to the tree. Well more specifically it was running towards Zhu and its brother. The puppy began to growl and bark at Zhu trying to get him to let go of its brother. After a few moments it began to bite Zhu’s leg trying harder now to get Zhu to release its brother. Zhu rolled his eye as he bent down and grabbed the puppy by the scruff of its neck pulling it up into his arms without any further hassle. This puppy was a girl and she must’ve been attracted to the park by the sounds of Toby’s barking.

With both of these puppies in his arms he turned and made his way back towards their owner’s home. The little girl puppy didn’t stop trying to get free from Zhu and get her brother free from him as well. It didn’t take him nearly as long this time to arrive at the home of the owner, and nothing had really changed since he had dropped Lilly off with him. As he arrived he realized the dilemma he had before him. Both of his hands were full and he had to get over the gate. Granted it wasn’t that high maybe only just hitting his waist, but he still had to get over it. He walked to the actual fence and simply jumped as high as he could over the fence landing perfectly inside of its boundaries. He quickly set the other two puppies down in the play pen without further hesitation now down to three left.

He didn’t waste any further small talk with the owner as he had a lot of work to get done before he could rest and obtain his reward. As he left the house he crossed off the two puppies from his list and realized that he only had one more girl left and two boys still to catch. He decided that he would try to catch the next puppy in a far more conventional means. As he walked through the streets of Magnolia town he began to call “Rose!” this was accompanied by a loud whistle “Rose here girl!” he called before he whistled again. He continued this technique of trying to find the puppy as he continued to walk down the street. He was about to give up when he heard a reply to his call. The reply was a loud, but high pitched bark clearly trying to get his attention.

Zhu listened carefully and followed the sound of the barking. As he walked around trying to follow the barking he continued to call for her “Rose! Come here girl!” every time he called it was followed by a loud bark that was starting to get closer to him. He turned a corner and standing next to a trash can was the puppy he was looking for. He smiled and knelt down “Rose come here girl!” he said with a smile on his face. Rose barked happily and rushed over to him jumping up into his arms. Zhu caught her smiling widely petting her belly as he made his way back to the man’s house. He would have to remember to get the man’s name eventually it might help him in some way down the road. He arrived even faster than before putting Rose down with the rest of her siblings.

He smiled and looked to his employer with a nod “That’s five down. Only two more to go, and I will have them very soon. Oh and I’m sorry but I don’t remember ever catching your name. What is it?” The man laughed lightly nodding “oh how rude of me. My name is Orion. I am very grateful to you for helping me find my puppies.” Zhu smiled as he shook his head lightly “There is no need to thank me. I am being paid, and I think this is the right thing to do so I’m not in need of thanks. The reward will be more than enough thanks for me.” He turned and left the yard and the man once more as he headed back out into town. He had to find the last two remaining puppies and he didn’t have much time left before sunset was upon him.

He walked into town and thought about the next way he could possibly attract a dog. His thoughts were interrupted by the smell of meat cooking. Someone somewhere was having a barbeque and the smell was traveling very far. If they were outside cooking and the scent was able to reach a good distance then it would be obvious that the puppy on the loose would be drawn to the scent like flies to dead flesh. He instantly began to follow the scent the best he could. It didn’t take him very long before he found the source of the scent and he walked up to the party. It seemed that most of them were distracted by something and not to his surprise it was a puppy. Zhu looked at his list and this puppy was known as Felix. Zhu walked over to the fence and looked around calling “Felix? Where are you boy?”

He continued to play pretend in order to keep himself seeming rather innocent. When he heard the dog bark in response to its name being called he smiled to himself. Someone in the party noticed this reaction as well and they looked over to Zhu. The man who came over was an older gentleman and he looked at Zhu with a discerning eye “Excuse me sir. Is this your dog?” He said gesturing to Felix who was being given plenty of attention by the rest of the party goers. Zhu turned and looked smiling widely “Oh Felix! I am so glad he’s safe. Thank you so much for finding him for me.” The man smiled nodding his head “It is our pleasure. We are just happy that this little guy has a home.” He walked back over and picked Felix up bringing him over to Zhu. He handed Zhu the dog and Zhu smiled “thank you sir. You’ve made someone very happy.” With that he turned and left.

Zhu couldn’t help but be proud of himself for finding these puppies so quickly. After all he had pretty good instincts, but he had no idea how to find the last one. As he walked down the street however he saw a man holding a thrashing puppy in his arms walk towards him. Zhu instantly recognized the puppy the man was holding and he frowned deeply. Zhu stepped in front of him putting on a fake smile “Excuse me sir. That is my puppy I lost. His name is Tako. May I have him back?” The man scoffed lightly “absolutely not. I’m taking this puppy home. You lost him and I found him. He’s mine.” Zhu sighed as he held his right hand out and in it appeared Iron Claw. He drew the sword and put the blade at the man’s throat “I am a wizard sir. If you are foolish enough to challenge me I shall end your pathetic life right here.”

The man looked at Zhu very scared now as he clearly had not expected Zhu to be a wizard. With his fear in mind and the clear threat to his life he nodded his head ever so slightly so he could show Zhu that he was going to cooperate. Zhu smirked and put his blade away dismissing it back into his pocket dimension. He took Tako from the man and nodded his head “Now get your pathetic self out of my sight before I decide you aren’t worth sparing.” The man quickly ran away with terror in his heart and eyes. Zhu sighed as he took both puppies back to their home. He couldn’t help but be a little proud of himself for what he did to that man, but he was currently trying to relax today.

As he entered the yard by jumping the fence once more and he returned the two puppies with their siblings. Zhu smiled softly as he nodded his head lightly “Well there you go. All seven of them.” Orion smiled and stood up handing Zhu the reward they had agreed on “Thank you so very much. I am very grateful to you.” Zhu took the money smiling softly “You’re welcome. Lamia Scale is always happy to help people in need.” With that he turned and left heading back to the guild hall.
