Job Title: A Wizard's Grace
Rank: D-Ranked Wizard (Solo Only)
Player Requirements: Thread must be 20 posts long. 200 Words per post. May only be completed ONCE by the character attempting the Job.
Job Requirements: Must defeat at least 5 groups of Plant Demons! Without using magic that can damage the crops and farms of Beanstalk Village! If the Boss is rolled; the curse on the crops will disappear; but you now have to face off against the Dark Wizard who cursed them in the first place!
Job Location: Beanstalk Village
Job Description: Beanstalk Village; nestled in the most northern forests of Fiore alongside the Clover River. This village is responsible for a good bit of Fiore's farm and produce production alongside River Village, and Peace Village. Everything from vegetables, too beef, too steak, too pork can come from here.
However; all crops in the village; have whithered and grown thorns. Quite strange no? They also glow with a strange light; as if some kind of bad magics are at work; holding the crops into this foul state.
There aren't any wizards in the village; so they're completely baffled how entire crop fields of wheat, corn, and tomatoes could just sprout black thorns, wither, and glow. It's very, very, VERY; strange to them.
However; when you arrive; the cursed plants react to your magic power; revealing to the villagers the source of the problem. Plant Demons; feeding off of their crops.
The Plant Demons appear; popping up in waves. They look quite cute; each Plant Demon either has a head and body made up of whatever vegetable it is; with thin white legs and arms; and glowing red eyes with a mouth that they love to use to eat real crops; and too trash talk.
They will pop out of the ground randomly when they sense Magic Power for the first time in Beanstalk Village; and attack. The curse will wear off when you dispose of the Plant Demons.
Enemies:
Weak: Tomato Plant Demon x10 (D-Ranked, these Demons are real trash talkers; nothing is off limits to them. With a body like a giant tomato. Despite their tough talk; they're very weak and go down in just two hits of D-Ranked damage each; they will try to belly flop and body slam their opponents; their special technique is 'Tomato Juice Cannon'; which blasts their opponent with a stream of ketchup from their mouth; careful it packs a punch and deals D-Ranked damage and knockback that will lift you off your feet if hit.)
Normal: Corn Plant Demon x5 (D-Ranked, these Demons have a body like a giant corn cob. They don't talk tough; but think themselves very stylish. They will attempt to body flop, and body ram opponents much like the Tomato Plant Demons. Their special technique is 'Corn Corn Cannon' in which they exhale a stream of Corn, flying at bullet speed. They hurt like hell; equivalent to almost having baseballs thrown at you. Enough of them will K.O even tough wizards. This deals C-Ranked damage if hit. The Corn Plant Demons go down in 3 hits of D-Ranked damage each.)
Strong: Broccolli Plant Demon x10 (C-Ranked, these demons have a body like broccolli with glowing red eyes. They are very fast; and will charge opponents quickly with shoulder rams, and punches. Their special technique is 'Broccolli Swat'; in which they cock their body back like a gigantic fly swatter, and slam their Broccolli heads down on their opponent in a gigantic smash. This deals C-Ranked damage, and can K.O quite easily. If caught off guard you will be slow to move around and be sore for the next post. The Broccolli Plant Demons go down in 5 hits of D-Ranked damage each.)
Boss: Dark Wizard (The one who put the curse on the entire Farmlands of Beanstalk Village; this guy is not to be trifled with. He is an middle aged man with an extremely impressive beard; wearing dark robes. He uses Curse Magic. Once per turn; he will try to make one of your limbs like jelly, as well as cause you to see and hear things that aren't there. His Curse spells can do everything from make you blind, make you not able to hear, paralyze one limb, make you not be able to speak, and the ability to make your own spells backfire on you. If you roll a 'Failed Block'; you will be Cursed with one of these effects, takes 15 hits of D-Ranked damage to bring this guy down.)

Zhu slowly walked into the beanstalk village. He had been hired because the village needed people in order to end a viscous blight upon their fields and such. He had arrived very early in the day as it was what he believed was necessary in order to get the job done soon, and so he could get to the challenge quick enough. He wanted to test his mettle and what better way than with a solo mission. As he arrived in the village he headed back to where he could see fields of crops. As he stood at the fields’ edge he looked out and saw that they were indeed cursed.

He couldn’t figure out what had caused it, but he was sure he would find out. A man walked up to him with a smile on his face “Ah it is good to see someone has answered our call for help. As you can see there is a terrible plight upon our fields. We can’t eat, or use them at all. Can you help?” Zhu stepped a bit closer to the field in front of him and he noticed something moving in the field. He stood up his hand going to his sword Steel claw. As he pulled the blade and saya from his belt and slowly drew his sword he spoke “You should leave. I shall return to you when the job is finished.” The man didn’t need any extra incentive but as he ran he spoke “Please don’t damage our crops!”

'Monster Dice' :

As Zhu watched he was amazed to see that five different corn stalks were shaking and rustling. It wasn’t long however before a cob from each of them shot off of the rest of the stalk. They all began to form arms, and legs. With five of these strange creatures Zhu was second guessing his choice of weapon. He sheathed his sword once more. He collapsed the sword in between his hands and spoke “Green Dragon.” With that he pulled his hands apart and stretched his arms soon his favorite polearm was in his hands and he was ready for the fight.

The first of the corn demons wasn’t going to wait for him and it charged him full force with its head parallel to the ground in a head-butt. Zhu smirked and simply brought his blade down upon the Corn Demon’s head slicing deep into it causing the demon to scream in pain. Zhu wasn’t finished however as the moment he stopped the head-butt he twisted the blade and made an upward diagonal slash cutting into the chest of the corn demon now. The other demons started to charge him, but Zhu turned his blade once more and slashed through the mid-section of the corn demon before he leapt backwards to try and avoid being caught in between all four of the demons.

Zhu smirked as he stepped backwards from the fields and out onto one of the many dirt paths that went between the fields. This was by far the better ground for Zhu to work with because it allowed him more maneuverability. The corn demons followed him onto the path, but they had learned from their comrade’s mistake. One of them stopped dead and opened his mouth spitting a stream of corn at him. Zhu smirked and began to spin Green Dragon in front of him as fast as he could. As he did this the corn was deflected from him and away from him.

It only took a few seconds for the Corn demon to stop this tactic and his brothers surged towards Zhu. They attacked this time two at a time. The two ran towards him trying to slam their bodies into him. As they neared however Zhu flipped green dragon and slapped one of the corn demons away with the hard blunt end of his weapon. Once that one was dealt with he turned his attentions to the other one flipping green dragon around to slice the demon in the face sending it reeling in agony from the deep gash in its face.

Zhu smirked at this turn of events as he was able to damage the two demons, and soon he would kill them. But he was caught off guard by the fact that he was doing so well, and he didn’t notice the fourth Corn demon coming up behind him. It slammed into him full force and this caused him to spiral forward tumbling and rolling in the dirt. When Zhu finally stopped rolling and tumbling he surged up to his feet and whipped around holding Green Dragon out to cut anyone who got too close. He did manage to slice the corn demon he had previously struck with the blunt end, and now it was close enough for him to finish it.

The moment he was ready he impaled Green Dragon right into the Demon’s eye and the last thing it saw was the blade surging to its face. With a strong jerk Zhu removed his weapon from the now dead Corn demon and looked at the remaining three of them. He growled to himself as he looked at them wanting to make sure they didn’t get the drop on him again. He looked to Green Dragon then smirked he had one trick up his sleeve they weren’t expecting.

All of the Corn demons waited for a moment in order to try and figure out their next plan of attack. Sadly for them however Zhu wasn’t about to wait for this to happen and he was going to deliever a devastating attack. He lifted green dragon blade up to the sky holding it there. Slowly the soft crack and spark of electricity could be heard and seen around Green Dragon’s blade. Soon there were arcs of electric energy visible on the blade. Zhu smiled wickedly as he looked to the demons “Dragon Strike.” With that he leveled his blade and thrust it towards them.

As he did this the electricity surged forward in the shape of a lightning bolt. It flew with incredible speed and it struck the Corn demon in the middle full force. The electricity surged and wrapped around the demon shocking him violently, and stunning him. Zhu didn’t waste any time and he rushed forward stabbing the already cut corn demon in the face with Green Dragon before he removed his blade and struck him once more ending its’ life. The remaining corn demon tried to slam into Zhu only to have the blunt butt of Green Dragon jammed into its eye. As it reeled back yowling in agony Green Dragon became illuminated in green light and vanished the spell had reached its end.

Zhu smirked as he looked to the remaining two Corn demons he wasn’t about to let them off easy. He held his hand out and spoke “Wild Rang.” In his hand appeared his great three pronged boomerang. He wasn’t about to let his advantage go away and he surged toward the corn demon slashing through it with both of its sharp blades delivering two hits, and it ended the life of that demon. He turned his attention to the only remaining Corn demon. This demon opened its mouth and began to spit the stream of corn once more. Zhu swore softly and threw his wild rang with all his strength before he ducked and rolled away. He didn’t want to be caught by the stream of corn, but he just wasn’t fast enough. He swore as he felt the stream hit him. However; he had managed to time his throw just right. As the Corn Demon was focused on him it couldn’t take its attention from its target, this was a mistake as Wild Rang passed it slicing through it twice ending it. Zhu whipped around and watched Wild Rang’s path running over to catch it perfectly.

With the corn demon’s defeated he walked over to the fields once more and began to inspect it for any more threats as the strange spell was still in effect.

'Monster Dice' :

As Zhu neared the field he watched and saw that the tomato plants were starting to move and shake much like the corn stalks had before. Soon several different tomatoes flew from their vines and landed on the ground. Once on the ground they all began to swell in size, and even take on arms and legs much like their corn brothers had before them. Zhu frowned deeply as they formed faces and mouths. Finally the one who formed first spoke “Well look at this one eyed moron. I bet his eye was taken out by his own stupidity. He’s so weak that it’ll only take two of us to kill you. Go get him guys!”

Two of the tomatoes rushed him trying to slam their bodies into him. Zhu smirked and threw Wild Rang once more. The way he threw it caused it to sail past the first one slicing it twice on its way forward. As it died the other one continued to rush towards Zhu uncaring about his fallen brother. However he was stupid and pigheaded as he didn’t realize a Boomerang has to come back. As it did it struck him twice cutting him in half. Zhu smirked and caught Wild Rang with practiced precision once again “Aw too bad I don’t have some mozzarella and basil I bet it’d taste really good.”

The head tomato watched with hatred in his eyes. When he heard what Zhu had decided to say he stomped his wisp of a foot and yelled “Fire!!” the other seven all opened their mouths and sprayed huge jets of tomato juice towards Zhu. The moment he heard fire however Zhu was already on the move. He turned and ran, but instead of just a straight line away he turned so that he was running in a huge arch around the group of tomato demons. True to their stupidity they all turned to follow him. The only one who noticed was the head honcho, but it was far too late.

When they all turned they all managed to hit each other. The head Tomato yelled “You idiots!! Use your brains!! You’re all morons!” Zhu smirked as he rushed forward now towards them. The tomatoes were still wiping themselves off, but these weren’t Zhu’s intended target. He rushed up to the leader and slashed through him with both of the blades as he continued to run past them “Now without a leader hopefully they’ll be far too stupid to actually put up a threat. Still I need to be careful about them.” He warned himself as he turned his head to look back at the group with his eye.

Zhu didn’t want to waste much more time, but his plan had indeed worked and now these demons seemed to be squabbling amongst themselves. Zhu really wasn’t going to waste any more of his valuable time. He could feel Wild Rang was starting to reach the end of its time and soon he would have to summon another weapon. He wanted to kill a few more of them before that happened. He lifted Wild Rang and threw it with all his strength. Of course it flew with great speed and accuracy, but there was something that went terribly wrong this time.

Yes he threw it and yes he struck his target however it didn’t get to arch because it was firmly held in the body of the tomato demon. Even as it shrunk and died this simply caused Wild Rang to sink to the ground and remain there. Zhu swore at his recklessness and his utter uselessness with this strike. He made a rookie mistake he would reprimand himself at a later time so he could handle this mission and then get to himself later. He had to think of what to do next as his weapon was about to expire.

Zhu watched as his boomerang disappeared. This wasn’t a huge issue, but still it did present a few problems. Nothing he couldn’t handle, but still problems were problems and they would have to be dealt with.  He thought about the weapons still at his disposal, and then he smirked. If he was on a farm he might as well use something like a farmer’s weapon. He held out his hands and soon a shimmering light appeared in both of them as well as a line of light between them. When he closed his hands over the weapon it became tangible. It was a long kusarigama scythe weapon.

Zhu smirked and began to spin it around over his head using the chain to do this. Then he gripped the chain and spun the weapon in a long arch slicing another of the tomato demons. Of course since this weapon didn't have two blades like his boomerang the demon still stood, but Zhu was okay with this any damage was welcome damage. At this range he could easily hit them, and as the blade returned he caught it in hand smirking at them “Well it seems you don’t have more time to waste.” He chided as he began to spin the blade again the chain rattling and ringing as he did so the sound was a most ominous one even to the demons who now looked afraid.

Zhu smirked as he continued to spin Soul Reaver around in a large arc. The other tomato demons began to look nervous. The head one rushed towards him with the great slash across his body. Zhu wasted no time and delivered yet another slash with his weapon to the demon. This time however he delivered the death strike and it fell dead among the rest of the plant life of the field. The demons were all very terrified about this turn of events. Clearly one by one they were being slaughtered and they had truly no real response to this threat.

Still they all opened their mouths and sprayed their disgusting looking sludge at Zhu once more. He simply turned and repeated the same technique as he had the first time. As he ran around them they turned and sprayed each other with their attack. True it didn’t hurt them, but it gave Zhu enough time to rush in and slash at another of the demons twice. He quickly turned to the next demon as it wiped itself off. Zhu used this time to wrap and bind it in the chain of his weapon forcing the demon to stand in front of him to try and hide his presence long enough to get at least another attack in.

His plan had worked as he was now hiding behind one of the tomato demons. Granted the one he was hiding behind was wrapped in the chain of his weapon. He still used this to the best of his benefit. The other tomato demons looked at their chained brother all of them trying to figure out how they could help. Zhu took advantage of this and slashed his hostage surging forward as the demon fell dead to the ground. As he rushed forward he threw out his weapon to slash at another tomato demon. This demon was too close and the blade wrapped around him stabbing him in the eye.

As it did the demon screamed in his agony, but didn’t scream for long as Zhu tugged on the chain and caused it to dig a huge gash through the demon. Finally it fell dead due to how large the cut in its body was. Zhu couldn’t believe how weak these demons were. The corn demons were much stronger and part of him wished for them to return so he could enjoy a real fight. As he pulled his weapon back into his hand however one of the tomato demons slammed into him sending him flying and tumbling around through the field.

Zhu grunted as he slowly got up. Sometimes he cursed the fact that he was missing an eye, but other times he liked that it was gone showing what a true warrior he was. Upon standing up he was quickly attacked once more, this time however he wasn’t going to let himself be caught off guard. As the last of the two demons neared him he rolled to the side of it slashing its leg clean off as he passed. It yowled in agony as it fell down in the soil. Zhu smiled wickedly as he walked over to it looking to its partner as he sliced through the demon’s back cutting it open.

As it died there he chuckled darkly and began to spin the blade around by the chain nodding his head lightly “That was fun. I gotta say he got the drop on it, I didn’t think that he would be able to get the drop on me like that, but you know I can’t say that I’m upset about it. Showed me I have a long way to go still, but now it’s time to end the last of you demons.” The demon looked very terrified at this point trying to find a way out.

Zhu smirked as he threw his weapon forward using the chain to keep it with him. This demon however was going to be a lot harder of a target against Zhu this time. He was going to have to do his best this time. The demon dodged the blade to the side, and this forced Zhu to pull hard to retrieve his blade. He wouldn’t be allowed to do it very easily however because the moment the tomato demon landed he stood up and sprayed the stream attack at Zhu once more. Zhu swore softly as he dove away to the side rolling as he hit the ground grabbing is weapon as soon as he did he swung it in a large arch horizontal slash.

The blade hit the demon much to Zhu’s great joy he needed to kill this demon before he was too tired to keep fighting, and he could feel his weapon losing its power. The demon screeched as it was slashed and it sprayed the same attack once more. Zhu got to his feet and ran as fast as he could in an arc, but he was shortening it in order to get close, and finally he was close enough with a talented stab to the demon he slew it. As the demon fell Soul Reaver vanished from his hands. Zhu sighed softly as he fell down to relax a bit He was now tired, and he hoped that the next fight wouldn’t be this hard.

As Zhu sat there he heard the rustling and the movement in the crops that signaled the arrival of even more demons. He groaned lightly as he stood up and watched as ten more of the tomatoes came to life. He rolled his eyes growing very tired of these creatures, but he knew he had to take care of them or else no money for him. He thought about the weapons that were available to him and he smirked as he raised his arms to the sides holding them out as if he had wings instead of arms. That is when his next weapon appeared.

These were the Warrior’s Glaives and they were quite useful for him. He jumped up and as he came down he halted a few feet off of the ground. This was their ability Levitate, and it was just what he needed now. He rushed forward his weapons at the ready he was going to slaughter these ten demons before they even got the chance to attack him. As he approached the first one it was just finished standing up. He first slashed with his right glaive and then his left glaive delivering the two strikes to kill the demon.

As the demon fell he looked to the other nine of them. All of them were looking very pissed off and one of them began to charge Zhu. Zhu smirked as he was ready. As the demon drew closer Zhu held out his weapon and let the demon impale itself upon the blade. Zhu wasn’t finished there as he took the right blade and slashed through the demon’s face killing it with this attack. As it dropped however he was quickly attacked once more. He was slammed into by one of the demons and it knocked him around like he was a rag doll.

As he landed however he was still hovering in the air. He quickly got up to his feet and watched as another tomato demon charged him. Zhu smirked lightly as he rolled to the left of the demon cutting it on his way passed it. Once he was safely past it he whipped around and rushed back slashing the demon across his back. This was the hit that ended this particular filthy demon. He looked back at the remaining ones and began to move away slowly coming down from his levitation. He had to make a mental note to eat all the tomatoes he could ever find.

Now that he wasn’t levitating anymore, and he was back on the ground then he was ready to fight a more real battle. The demons all began to spray that sickly smelling red geyser liquid at him. Zhu swore softly as he began to run around the demons in a great arc. These demons weren’t nearly as stupid as the previous group as they had staggered themselves enough to not directly hit each other and when they were nearing one another they stopped attacking like that. Zhu swore again this time running closer to them and he quickly slashed one of them with both glaives.

It died and was no longer a threat, but the remaining six of them were. He had to work fast or he would be out of energy before they were dead and then he would be in real trouble. He looked the remaining ones and he kept on the move. Five of them began to shoot the liquid as if it were bullets. The last remaining one attacked Zhu. As it charged him Zhu was force to keep running. With quick thinking he jumped over to the remaining demon and impaled it upon his right glaive. The others stopped firing as Zhu stabbed it with his left glaive to seal its death.

He was ready for even more battling now, but he had to be careful. If he wasn’t he might get killed before he could collect his money. The demons now once more seemed to be very cautious of him, and his skill. They once again started to fire their blasts of ketchup at him trying to hit him. Zhu sighed to himself as he ran faster trying to keep himself from being struck by one of these said attacks. As he was running however a sudden thought struck him, and he smiled wickedly. As he ran he slowed down enough to put his plan into motion, but not enough for the demons to really notice.

When one of them hit him with its attack he was knocked off his feet and flew back several feet sprawling in the dirt, and among the crops. The demon smiled and jumped up and down like a child “I got him! That was mine! I got him! Let’s go make sure he’s dead!” he rushed ahead of the others who made their approach at a much slower pace. As he neared Zhu who was now covered in Ketchup he didn’t notice that he was still breathing.

The moment the tomato demon got close enough however, he met his end. Zhu surged up sinking his blades into the demon’s face causing it to scream. The other demons were petrified by the sound they had just heard. They weren’t that intelligent in the first place, but the thought of a body still moving after it had died was truly terrifying. As Zhu looked to the remaining demons he truly looked like a demon. The ketchup looked like blood and it was splattered all over his clothes and some on his face giving him a very terrifying look.

He smiled wider a touch of bloodthirsty madness touched his face as he began to move towards the demons. This caused all of the demons to take a step back, but Zhu saw it and rushed them. They all began to panic trying to figure out what to do, but they were too slow in trying to do so. Zhu arrived and impaled yet another demon on his glaives. He wasted no time turning to another one and slicing it with both of his glaives. The last remaining demons tried to attack him now, but Zhu was just too fast despite his injury and he ducked away as his glaives vanished.

Zhu quickly began to summon his next weapon not wasting a bit of time. He was going to finish these two demons as quickly as he possibly could so he wouldn’t have to take another hit. He could feel his body starting to ache and be in pain he knew if he took too many more hits it would spell his end. He rubbed his hands together as fast as he could and once he felt significant heat between them he put one to the ground and slowly drew it back. In a stream of flames emerged his weapon Duel Flame.

Zhu gripped it in both hands quickly and whipped around to face the two demons. He didn’t have long to wait as one of them charged him. He thought a moment and then put Duel Flame into his right hand. He quickly began to spin the blade around in a great circle to his right side. He charged the demon and the demon did just as he expected. It turned and ran, but it wasn’t fast enough. The table saw like blade of duel flame ripped through the demon as if it were paper. Zhu wasn’t finished however he was going to kill the last remaining demon as well. He caught the blade and charged.

The demon was dumbfounded by what happened, but he wasn’t about to give up without a fight. He charged Zhu roaring the best he could. This only served to make Zhu laugh, but it didn’t save the demon. Zhu brought the blade in a vertical slash across the demon’s face. He spun it as he dragged it down and the second blade flipped forward slashing at an angle across the demon’s face, but this sealed its fate with a satisfying slicing sound. As the demon fell dead and began to go away the curse began to life from the crops.

Zhu sighed in relief as he dismissed his spell weapon and summoned Iron Claw to him hooking the weapon on his belt once more. He was finally glad that this mission was over, and it was time he got a good break. As he started to walk towards the village he did his best to clean himself off of all the ketchup he was covered in. His arrival hadn’t been unnoticed as the older man from before came up to him “You have done it?” Zhu nodded his head lightly “It is done, and there is no lasting damage to your crops. Now then I’ll collect my payment and be on my way.” The man handed him the payment owed with a great smile on his face “you saved our Village, we will not soon forget this.” Zhu nodded his head once heading back to the Lamia Scale guild hall. He wanted to sleep.
