Breaking and Exiting (Talen and Kariline Kaido)

Talen ran through the streets of Hargeon, following the trail of jewels. He and Kariline were on a job for a local company. They had sent an urgent request to Lamina Scale. A group of bandits called the Twisted Vipers had stolen from the Hargeon Shipping Co. and they needed someone to get the jewels back before the bandits managed to get away on their boat at the harbor. Talen had jumped at the chance for a job, this would be his first combat mission in Lamina Scale. Talen had also invited Kariline on the job. He had told her that he wanted to see how she did in real combat, but the real reason was that Talen was not completely sure that he could win. This would be his first real chance to prove himself to the guild and he did not want to risk it.

At first Talen had wanted to use Artemis to track the bandits, however when the two had arrived at the Companies building, they had discovered that there was a trail of jewels leading down the street. The two had followed the trail, it was leading in a more or less strait line to the docks.

As the two rounded a corner, they entered a large market square with numerous stalls selling everything from food to armor. In the center of the square there were several people carrying large sacks on their backs, one of which had a whole in it. "Guess these are our guys," Talen said to Kariline.

The sun was setting as Talen and Kariline sprinted down the streets of Hargeon. She had accepted to go on this job with Talen, this would be good experience for her, and they didn't even have to leave the city. She wondered how many places, these bandits have attempted to rob? Kariline looked over at Talen as he pointed out the trail of jewels. Goodness these guys were horrible!!

they continued to follow the path, picking up randomly dropped jewels to take back the the Shipping Co. She didn't want to disappoint her guild by getting yelled at for missing minor details. Talen then looked ahead at a few men carrying large knap sacks.

Kariline skidded to a halt and immediately got ready for combat. They had to subdue their opponents. Her wrist glowed a green acid smoke and as it touched the ground it began to bubble. She summoned Henich to her side. Her acidic Demon, who used spikes and touch magic to down his opponents.

She stared down the bandits, gangly looking men, they dropped their bags full of jewels to get ready for combat. Even though they seemed weak, she didn't want to charge right in, she waited for Talen to prepare himself. She was curious as to if he had a Spirit to summon so that they could work together.

"Prepare for more, im sure they are not alone," She said to Talen while looking around the streets she was more than sure these idiots couldn't be the master minds behind the theft.

Kariline, as usual, was the first to act. The tattoo on her wrist started to spew a sickly green acid. One of her hounds formed from the acid, and Talen thought that the thing looked a little gross. He was not sure that he would ever get entirely used to her summons, but that did not matter now, they needed to work together and defeat these bandits.

There were 6 of the bandits standing in the square. Three of them had been holding the sacks of jewels with knives at their waists, the rest were carrying assorted swords. They appeared to not have noticed the two of them yet.

Talen reached for his keys. He could use Melissa, but she would take half of the jewels he would make so he would rather not. He could use Medusa, but she did not seem very useful now. Talen could not summon Artemis here, so that left just one choice.

Talen pulled out his one gold key, "Gate of the scorpion, I open thee, Scorpio!" Scorpio came out of the gate. "We are! Don't worry Talen," Scorpio said with a big smirk on his face, "our sand will make short work of these idiots." Scorpio got on all fours and aimed his tail at the nearest of the bandits with a sack "Sand Buster!" A blast of sand like a miniature tornado shot out of this tail and hit the Bandit square in the back, nocking the jewels out of his grasp and nocking the Bandit to the ground.

'Monster Dice' :

Talen had called out Scorpio, and she watched as it used it's tail to release a Sand tornado right at the 6 bandits that stood there. They all had their backs turned to them, What luck? The tornado had easily knocked that bandit to the ground, who in return had dropped the sack of jewels. That was enough to get all of their attention, and boy did they give it! Three had passed along their sacks to the two that stood left and charged at Talen and Kariline.

She quickly snapped her fingers and pointed to the men that charged. Henich formed himself into a ball, with his acid covered porcupine like needles protruding from his back. He rolled to his opponent quickly. The Bandit tried to dodge by leaping to the left and slicing, but he only ended up getting a bot of acid on his sword, which began to slowly eat it away. The Bandit however, did not notice it and managed to dodge, but Henich released his ball, and from behind pounced on the man, biting at him. The man dropped his sword and Kariline watched as it started to rot. Even Henich's acid could eat that poorly forged metal.

The other two were headed for Talen and Scorpio and quickly Kariline ordered Henich to use his tongue to trip one. The man landed with a thud and squealed as Henich pulled him back. He dripped his acid all over the mans leg, which was already eating away at his pant leg. " Talen look out!" She said, he should be able to handle the one bandit right?

Talen was impressed by how quickly Kariline took out two of the bandits. That hound ho hers defiantly was impressive. Good thing I brought her along, Talen thought to himself, I don't know if I could take all of these guys out fast enough if she was not here.

There was just one of the bandits left in the square with them, the rest had left with the jewels, and he was running straight at Talen and Scorpio. Kariline Shouted a warning to Talen, and he acknowledged it with a nod. "Scorpio," Talen said to the spirit, "Take him down, then take him out." "We are! On it, Sand Buster!" Firsts Scorpio shot a stream of sand at the approaching bandits feet, between the force of the attack and the terrain caused by the sand, the bandit fell to the ground with a hard thump. Next Scorpio aimed his tail directly at the man and fired a full force Sand Buster right at him.

Now that the Bandits in the square were taken care of, Talen and Kariline continued the chase.

Watching carefully for his safety, Kariline was rather proud of how short work he made of those bandits. Scorpio was rather powerful, and she gave a slight grin. " Lets get em!" She said, running after the trail of jewels, Henich close to her side. They rounded a corner and right there, smack in the center, was a couple of more bandits. They expected them this time, Unsure of what gave them away, she prepared for an attack. Three armed bandits sped toward them.

" Lillith!" She yelled, and from her pocket popped out a small Fairy sized girl, this girl was a succubus, a powerful one at that. The girl flew out in the middle and buzzed around the guys. They swatted at her until she landed on the ground. The tiny fairy began to grow into a full sized woman, curvy and all.

Lillith's eyes turned purple and the men ceased their advance. They began to drool form the corners of their mouth. Lillith's charm spell was illusion magic, that subdues the opponent with images and even sensual pleasure. It only works on people of the opposite sex though. With all of the men distracted, Kariline looked at Talen, this was his spotlight!

Lillith couldn't hold this forever, it took quite a bit of Magical Energy from her, as she not only had to turn herself into normal size, but summon the power to unleash against them anyways, and for this amount of opponents, she seemed over whelmed.

The bandits behind them seemed shock, " Hey! What did you do to our men?" one of them sputtered out.

'Monster Dice' :

After Talen took out the last opponent, Kariline took off after the rest of the bandits, Talen right behind her. They had quickly caught up with the bandits, but this time they were waiting for the two summoners, there were three of them. Kariline had Lillith seduce them and hold them in place so Talen could take them out.

"Scorpio!" Scorpio aimed his tail, "Sand Buster!" He started on one side and brought the sand stream across all three. They all fell to the ground. Next Scorpio shot just the one on the far right, knocking him back even further.

The other two quickly got up, and started to run the summoner and spirit, swords drawn. The one running at Scorpio quickly closed the gap between them, raising his sword before swinging it as the spirit. Scorpio swung his tail into the bandit, knocking him backwards and onto the ground once more. Scorpio then finished the job with another Sand Buster. The bandit that had come at Talen jabbed with his sword. Talen tried to dodge the attack, but he received a small cut on his ribs. Talen reached behind him looking for something to fight back with, he felt somthing metal in the stall he was infront of. He grabbed it and hit the bandit with it. There was a load matalic sound as the frying pan made contact with the bandit, Talen had hoped that this would have been enough to take him out, but the bandit looked at him angerly and raised his sward once again, but before he could do more then that, Scorpio finished him off with a Sand Buster. "Thanks Scorpio," Talen said, releasing a sigh.

The last Bandit started to try and run, however Scorpio finished him off with a well placed Sand Buster.

The rest of the bandits took off again, Talen rolled his eyes saying "I wish they would stop doing that." Talen started after the once more.

The succubus fell to the ground in exhaustion, just that one spell took alot out of her as it required her to not only expend Magic to preform the illusion, but use Magic to return to her normal size. She just was thanking that the bandits were all male. Or else that magic would not have worked. Lillitha was placed in Kariline's bag for rest and she watched as Talen single handily showed those bandits who was boss. Scorpio made short work of them indeed. And even when faced in the heat of battle, Talen was injured ans till came out on top. Yes, it is all possible that Kariline was testing him.

The other two bandits had made off like a wild Hare with the remaining jewels, just how many of these guy's were there? Kariline looked at Henich, and Dispersed him, she was going to take things into her own hand for a moment. From her bag she pulled out her steel Gauntlets. She had yet to master the technique, but this would be good practice.

Once again the chase continued, and Kariline and Talen wold eventually reach the end of the line. This is where everything mattered most. Kariline looked at Talen and his slight wound, " Will you be alright?"

As the two summoners started to give chase once more, Kariline asked if talen was going to be okay with his wound. Talen just smiled and said, "It's nothing much I should be fine."

Talen was relieved that he and Kariline had finally cornered the last of the bandits. There were only two bandits, one with a single sack of jewels and the other carrying two. They both dropped the sacks and drew there swords, charging the mages. Talen smiled a little at the sight. He had a very fun idea on how to finish of the two. Talen took one of his silver key from his waist, "Scorpio, that's all I need. Thanks for the help." The Zodiac spirit just smiled, saying "We are. Fun as always Talen." Scorpio faded as Talen raised the silver key. "Gate of the Gorgon I open thee, Medusa!" A female spirit with the lower half of a snake slithered from the doorway to the spirit world. She did not say a word, instead she just looked at the two approaching bandits. All of a sudden her eyes started to glow grayish blue. The two bandits, suddenly turned to stone, freezing mid step. Talen know that this would not last, and if they did not hurry up and defeat them here and now, Medusa would turn him into stone per their contract. "Kariline, I suggest you finish them off fast, Medusa is not good at combat." Medusa looked back at Talen with a hurt expression. Talen walked up to the spirit and gave her a hug. "You know I love you medusa." The gorgon just nodded and hugged Talen back.

His new summon, was a Gorgon. A Greek Mythical being. Alot similar to some Demons Kariline was familiar with. She slithered out with her eyes closed, Kariline guess that her power was the same thing as the legends said. The woman smiled, how interesting. The Gorgon then opened it's eyes and the two charging bandits froze. Over their bodies appeared stone. A great way to get past enemies or dispose of them quickly.

Kariline nodded at Talen and brought her fists back revealing her gauntlets. She was going to smash those statues into pieces. Kariline sprinted to her opponents and using her propulsion effect of her gauntlets She lept forward. With another blast from her Fire Lacrima Bullets she smashed her fist into one statue. Instead of falling to pieces however, the man seemed to peel from a shell and flew down the street. Ah, it was just a casing?

She quickly spun on her foot and using another bullet ( three in total ) she smashed the other statue. The bandit, just like the other, bounced on the ground, gaining some air. Kariline gritted her teeth, she only had 7 bullets in her left hand and 10 in her right, she was careless with its use. Fire Lacrima Bullets were not easy to come by.

Talen was impressed with Kariline's weapon. She had mentioned that she was working on perfection the use of a technique, but they were more then he had expected. Kariline was able to quickly dispatch the two bandits that Medusa had frozen. However there were still more bandits left and unfortunately Medusa was not very good at direct combat, just support, and Talen did not have a weapon to fight back with like the demon summoner did. "Kariline, I suggest you finish off the rest of the bandits as quickly as you can. My contract with Medusa says that she gets to freeze me in stone before she is returned to the spirit world." This was the main reason that Talen did not summon her very often, in a combat situation being frozen in stone was a very bad thing, however if he had a team mate, like now, it was not so bad. Talen just hoped that Kariline could finish off he rest herself.

Her eyes grew large and she whipped around, what? He was going to get frozen? Kariline gritted her teeth and closed her eyes, just great. She didn't have the ability to face off three bandits, and Lillitha was already spent. She needed a strong offensive type. Ukobach it was.

Her right wrist began to glow and grow up her arm, from there a black smoke was released from the tattoo, then with a spark of fire the demon erupted. It growled under its flame body. Ukobach was truly impressive and the bandits were shivering with their sacks.

The demon let a fire ball erupt from its drooling jaws. It soared to his opponents and with a large burst of fire, one of the bandits was set on fire. He began screaming and running around with his bum on fire. The bandit was searching for a barrel of water when one of the other bandits swatted the fire out. Quite humorous. Kariline snapped her fingers and Ukobach sprinted forward and latched onto that same bandit with its teeth. He shook his head violently and the bandit went flying into a wooden stall. Two remained before her.

The woman launched forward using her gauntlets, She used the momentum to smash a bandit in the face easily. She enjoyed her gloves that she inherited from a member of Lamia Scale; Adessa. Kariline spun around after punching him in the face and and gave him a hard elbow to the gut. The second bandit hurled over and held his stomach before falling to the ground.

Only one more bandit to go. Kariline grinned, "Ukobach lets do this together," she said as sprinted towards the last bandit who tried to pick up all the bags of jewels to sneak away. Kari caught up to him fast as the bags weighed him down alot and she snapped at Ukobach who caught the bandit with an ankle in his jaws. Kari then took this chance and with the bandit tummy down on the stone pavement, she sent a hard gauntlet to the back of his head. He was unconscious instantly.

That was it, they were done. She sighed and heaved all the bags of jewels over her shoulder. They were indeed heavy, those bandits almost made off with a big heap. Almost. Kariline returned to Talen who was turned to stone, she simply waited for him to be normal again, so together they can return the jewels and go home, she had enough excitement for one day.
