Leonard could note and sense the disapproval of his partner with his tactic as he looked upon the pieces he has gathered from the beast. He could not see the reason behind it because he doubted that this would be much help. For he favored feeling and instinct, which he will not argue, will get the job done but it is more effective if you know your enemy. In this case, they didn't. "Yeah, I mostly do myself. But I don't want to rush in to this one blind.  It had a lot of tricks in its arsenal and I like to know more from where they came from." he then gestured at the pieces on the ground before them and added "These will help us find answers. Notice that these were the most prominent or important features, basically its the stuff he needs to live and hit us with. From here we will unlock its secrets, but if you don't like to help that's fine. However, you helping is appreciated all the same." he said and then proceeded to mingle with his work.

First, he tested the tentacles. Leonard would rub his hands around it to get a better feel. They were soft, squishy, and slimy. Disgusting as it was, it had to be done since it was the only way to know what's special about it. He even had a frown on as his hands swept across the disgusting object. The external parts of the tentacles didn't give much answers, only that they are slimy and could have been used for something else. So next he went and tested some of his weapons on it. Obviously, most of them cut through since they were all sharp. But if the tentacles were this soft, why do they hit hard? He had to dig deeper. He equipped some medical tools, which none thought he had. In fact, he had only started to have on these when he traveled to other lands. He carefully scrapped off the skin to find the internal workings. It was tiring and took a lot of time, but after four minutes, he had opened the tentacle carefully, keeping its internal workings intact. And there, he found the answer. Underneath its skin were special organs that increased the tentacles' density whenever it needs. Leonard noticed that the down side to this however, is that the tentacles will loose flexibility. But of course, it's an advantage for them. But there was something else that caught his eye; an ominous nerve that seemed to serve no purpose, so he let it slide.

And now that he was done with the tentacle, he grabbed it, stood up and threw it away. Leonard looked at as it was on the air and then when it was on the ground. He saw the view of the Phoenix mountain's peak. What was important in the view was that their target was there, and that everything around it was starting to decay, his eyes quickly widened, and his hands became fists clenched tight. He was greatly angered by the destruction of nature and wanted to end this quickly. Which meant he had to finish studying quickly. So he sat back down and quickly rummaged to his next test subject, the dragon's blood.

"I'll do what I can, but i'm not exactly the analytical type." Zack watched trying to keep his attention, but his knowledge of things like muscles and nerves was limited. Perhaps if he expanded his knowledge somehow his instincts would be able to work even better. That was why he was trying to pay attention. However, the process was slow and, in Zack's opinion, quite boring. However, when Leonard turned to face the mountains Zack followed suit and noted the decay. They didn't have time to mess around. They had to stop the squid dragon thing now. Yet how could they do it until Leo was finished with his analysis? It didn't seem like he was planning to stop anytime soon. He considered what best to do in this situation. The answer was obvious. There was only one thing that could be done. It had to be slowed down to give Leonardt time and there was only one way to do that.

"Ill go hold it off whilst you finish up. Don't take too long" he said and without waiting for confirmation flew off like a rocket swords in hand. He had no idea exactly what he could do in order to hold if off, but he had to try something. Even a few minutes might be enough to turn the tide. He wished he'd had more time to restore his magic power. As he flew closer he began to inhale, probably about enough to restore 5% of his magic power. It wasn't much, but hopefully it would be enough for him to do what he needed to do.

He got close to the beast and saw that it was once again exhaling the dense poison mist. Fortunately, it seemed to be seeping along the ground rather than in the air so he was able to fly above it. He stared at the beast and it roared out in anger. He grinned and roared out himself in defiance a sword at each hand. He had to hold this beast off. He flew at the beast at high speed and it raised its tentacles in defiance using the internal organ to make them hard just as the wizard saint had gathered from his analysis. The hardness made them inflexible and thus less maneuvarable. He flew straight forward and then suddenly veered off going through a small gap, just big enough for a human, and stabbed into it. It roared out in pain and from its skin spikes formed and Zack flew back through the same gap thus when the poisonous needles were fired they hit the tentacles rather than him.

This might look like it was triggered by rational, conscious thought, but no. Zack's instincts, now boosted by the intelligence Leonard provided, had directed him to those actions. Using the beast's body as a shield was quite clever. Its tentacles seemed not to be able to deflate and become flexible that quickly. That was something else he could use to his advantage. As indeed he had. "I'll learn by fighting it...and then Leo can give me more info...hopefully i'll be able to give him enough time." Zack said and flew forward once more. This time though the tentacles did not rise up and it instead fired a barrage of poisonous needles. Zack began to move his sword rapidly in defense knocking the spikes out of the way as he rose up to try and avoid the blows. One of the poisonous spikes tore through the skin on his leg causing him to wince in pain. He hoped his immortal blood would be enough to counteract it.

Zack was indeed restless and was determined to go at the beast head on. Leonard's partner dashed towards the mountain where their prey rested to recover. It was probably for the best, Leonard though. The process was indeed taking so long and Zack couldn't help but act. Leonard saw in him a strong driving force, and he was impressed by it. Furthermore, it gave him the drive to finish his task as well. For this simple work of meditation by the mind, can help the action of the body. And he was confident that together they could bring the beast down. The inspiring thought enabled Leonard to work faster on his research on the squid-dragon blood. The primary reason why Leonard chose to do a research on the beast's blood was because of the squid-dragon is poisonous, how come it's not poisoning itself?

At first, Leonard tried heating the blood. He placed it on a glass container that was sitting above a pile of wood. Afterwards, he lit the pile on fire with his fire sword. It took several minutes before it reached the desired temperature, so Leonard hoped this was all worth it. He took the glass and wanted to see its reaction to the high temperature, through a scope that could magnify images. The only possible conclusion he was able to draw for heating the blood was that it simply doesn't like the heat.

The next test was to put the blood in below 0 temperature conditions. Although he already predicted that the blood would calm down, he wanted to see it for himself either way. To do this, Leonard simply chilled the glass container by combining Sky Heart and Mizuhebi to create a chilling wind. And of course, as predicted, the blood settled down. However, Leonard was disappointed. There was not much information that can be used from the beast's blood. And a downed look on the blademaster's face indicated that he might have just wasted his time. Which is why he immediately started working on the skin.

And as he fiddled with a the giant bark-like specimen, a hideous smell began to cover the area. Leonard sniffed around to tell where it was coming from. His eyes widened as he glared at the blood. Quickly, he returned to it and noticed that it was warm, and it was going up in smoke. And everywhere the smoke went, it would heal anything that was poisoned by the Cthulsukami. And then all of a sudden, numerous answers came into Leonard's mind. That the reason why the dragon isn't poisoned by it's own poison is because it had a built in antidote in its blood. And that the only way to extract it is through heating and cooling. Of course the application on the dragon might take longer due to the beast's size and that its other organs would be functioning, it was certainly a useful find nonetheless. Furthermore, the find raised his spirits once more to work more efficiently on the other specimens.

It seemed that his immortal blood was counteracting the poison to some extent, but he still couldn't feel his leg at all. It was if the poisonous needle had anaesthetised his leg. A strange thought, but one he couldn't deny. IT had been aiming for a chest shot so he guessed that if it hit the chest it would of shut down his organs. It seemed surprised he was still flying, or at least he thought it looked surprised. It was kind of hard to tell with a giant squid dragon thing like this beast. Perhaps it expected the poison to have downed him anyway. It seemed he was lucky for his immortal blood. He wondered if he should fly back and tell Leo? No, there was no time for that. He had to hold back this beast whilst the other mage finished his research.

In a way Zack was doing his own research. He learned from fighting and that was why his instincts were so good. He'd fought hundreds of battles and each one had honed his instincts. Sure he had never faced a beast quite like this before, but that didn't matter. Any battle experience at all was useful. Besides, by battling this he was learning how to fight this creature. He doubted he'd meet something similar again, but it was always possible and it might help him fighting actual squids and dragons should he meet them.

"Right then calamari-chan. Let's see how quick you are." with that he flew to the side and began to circle the beast at increasing speed. Eventually, he was almost a blur. However, rather than staying in one altitude he constantly bobbed and weaved trying to dodge the tentacles that came up to try and strike him. This worked for a while and his speed was enough to let him cut through a few he didn't dodge. However, eventually he got caught and was tossed to the ground. Instantly, poisonous spikes were launched at him once more. If they hit it would be over. He took a deep breath. "SKY DEMON'S HOWL." he roared and launched the powerful beam of energy. It was enough to vaporize the spikes and also hit the beast quite hard. If he'd been a dragon slayer it might have taken it out there and then, but he wasn't. As such it just got some hefty damage, but that was enough to distract it long enough for Zack to get up. This beast was also getting better at the battle wore on. Zack just wasn't doing enough damage to tire it out. He needed more time and more power. He could use his ultimate buffing spell, but something inside him told him to wait and he always trusted his instincts.
