[Guild Intro] A Squid out of Ink

Garnet was still as confused as ever. Mythical beasts? Potions? Magic? Such things were not familiar to his ears and eyes. But what he knew, was that he would need a place where he could stay. More of a long-term stay, kind of place. The Inkling discovered that there were so-called Guilds for mages to join and call home, get stronger and forge relationships. Garnet wasn't entirely sure if he had a magic of his own, but he definitely felt something stirring within. And he was absolutely sure that he didn't have any of his weapons that he used to battle with on him. So he decided that he would have better chances of catching on this world if he was a part of something bigger.

With this mindset, Garnet appeared in the city of Magnolia. His goal was to join the Guild of Fairy Tail. From the limited information he had, it seemed like a Guild that he could see himself being a part of. It wasn't too much of a trek to get to the city, as he was quite close it already. But the real issue that arose, was the question of directions. He couldn't exactly ask people for them, as it was quite impossible for him. Instead, he decided to rely on his smartphone, that he had outfitted with a strange crystal that seemed to give it power and Garnet was completely on board with it. However, he was naturally no longer able to connect to the network from back home, but he could connect to the network that this world had. He managed to find a good enough of a map, that he reckoned would lead him to his destination.

After a couple of bad turns, he eventually stood in front of the somewhat unassuming building. It had pretty solid doors and Guild's name painted above them, but that was about it. With a little sigh, the Inkling would come up to the door and push them open, after he put away his smartphone. Right behind the doors there was a number of tables. Some were occupied, some were empty. There was one table, on Garnet's left, that seemed to have been a home for a bartender. On his right side was a more organised table. Garnet would stand in place, scratching his head in confusion. He assumed that he needed to go to the table on his right, but he truly had no idea.

Garnet had just about decided on trying to approach the desk, that he assumed was a receptionist's desk. Before he could do so, however, he was approached by a girl. She was rather tiny and Garnet couldn't help but to think that she was rather young. The girl stretched out her arm, showing off her mark on her forearm, as she introduced herself as Arcadia Fairchilde of Fairy Tail. It seemed that it wasn't that hard to find a mage from a specific Guild, afterall. Then again, Garnet was in Fairy Tail's Guildhall, so he knew that he shouldn't be too surprised. The girl had introduced herself, so Garnet felt like he needed to do the same. Things were so much tougher when you couldn't properly communicate. It was a hurdle that the Inkling was still dealing with, slowly, but surely.

The Inkling would humm to himself, a strange mixture of combination of a humm and bubbling. He would take out his squid-shaped smartphone that was black in colour and typed something down. The Inkling would then slightly bend down and show Arcadia the screen that said: I'm Garnet and I wanted to know if I can join Fairy Tail. The message was rather simple, but it summed up Garnet's thoughts quite well. Though he wasn't sure how the Guild felt about accepting somebody like him.

The girl apologised to Garnet, though he didn't feel like it was neccessary. He could speak, just not the language in question. The Inkling also thought it would be kind of tough for him to learn to speak a new language. The only reason he could understand the written version was that a part of letters was similar to his language and he just filled in the rest. He was glad that Arcadia liked his phone, though. She called it an 'iLac'. He wondered if they called phones like that, here. The girl offered to type in her number into his contacts, but then suggested that he could type his in her phone. With a nod, Garnet took Arcadia's iLac into his hands and typed in his number. He wasn't sure if it worked in this world's network, but he hoped it did. After he typed in his number, he would hand the iLac back to its owner.

Afterwards, Arcadia waved at the desk that he was going to approach, before he got approached instead. The girl was explaining the situation to a fairy, or whatever it was that seemed to be behind the desk, as he looked around the interior a little bit more. The interior itself had a sort of cozy feel. The juices she mentioned earlier sounded nice, he figured that the other desk, on the other side of the room handled that. Though he assumed that a large portion of the building was accessible exclusively to members of the Guild. Garnet was hoping that Fairy Tail would let him join them, as he could use a place a stay, at least for the time being.

Garnet's phone vibrated once it registered a new message. The Inkling looked it over and confirmed that his phone did indeed work even here. He was glad that he didn't have to do any extra fiddling to get it to work. Garnet saved the number from the message as 'Arcadia' into his contacts. The girl let him know that she had sent for a master and aces. The Inkling was unsure who those people were, but he could only assume that they were high-ranked. Arcadia then went on about the juices, saying that it was sort of a tradition. Garnet couldn't really argue, so he followed the girl to the bar. He was feeling kind of thirsty, anyway.

The Inkling sat down beside the girl, who ordered her juice. Garnet wanted to do the same, but he didn't know if flashing his phone onto people was socially acceptable. Not to mention that he didn't have any of the world's currency on him. He wanted to raise the few concerns he had, but that train of thought was interrupted by an unfamiliar voice, greeting Arcadia and him. On instinct, Garnet greeted the person. "Sgwids-weei!" He would say in his strange, bubbling language, making him immediately stop and blush in embarassment. That wasn't supposed to happen. Garnet would quickly snatch his phone and type out a message for Arcadia. Sorry. I wanted to say hello. He would send the message. After a brief deliberation he quickly typed in an another one. Also, I don't think I have money for the juice. Garnet sent an another quick message to Arcadia. The embarassment was still present for him, though. It made him want to turn into his squid form and just hide away from sight.

Arcadia introduced Garnet to the Guild's Guild Master, Sorano. He reckoned that she had the highest ranking within the Guild. Garnet kind of didn't expect the Guild Master to show up. He suddenly felt like he needed to be on his best behaviour so that he wouldn't get kicked out before he even joined the Guild. The girl next to the Inkling explained his situation and the Guild Master and said something about her iLac, to which Sorano replied that she didn't have one. While the two mages were talking, the juice that Arcadia had ordered on his behalf arrived and he was more than thankful as he took a sip of it. It had a nice and fresh pineapple flavour that he quite enjoyed.

Sorano then addressed Garnet himself, introducing herself once more and asking him for a name. The Inkling would quickly type into his phone, one handed. He had spent too much time surfing the web while commuting to the Splat battle areas, which in turn made Garnet pretty skilled at typing away. Shortly after he would turn his phone around to the Guild Master, so that she could see what he had typed down. I'm Garnet, pleased to meet you. The reason why I can read but not talk, is that my language's writing resembles this writing in certain portions, so I just filled in the blanks, though it took a bit of time getting used to. The Inkling would then turn around his phone again after the Guild Master was done reading, to quickly type down something else. After a few moments he would turn it around again. I have nowhere to go right now, that's why I would like to join Fairy Tail, if I would be permitted.

The girl beside Garnet fiddled with her drink as the Guildmaster read and acknowledged the messages he had presented her with. Sorano walked to the reception desk and pulled out something, as she asked for his personal details. Garnet wasn't entirely sure if he would be able to answer the impending questions, but it did depend on the questions that would be given to him. The Inkling would nod twice in quick sucession in agreement to the Guildmaster's request. As long as he managed to get into the place and in turn a place to stay, he was more than happy to oblige.

Before the Guildmaster would ask him the neccessary questions, Garnet would swiftly swipe across his phone's screen to get to the appropriate folder. He would then pick out the first picture he could find of himself and his brother as they were holding paper cups with strange logo's on them and grinned in the dim light of sunset on a side of a road. Garnet would send the photo to Arcadia with a little note. Thanks again for the juice. Reminds me of home. Garnet would send the message to the girl. Holding the cup in his hand did indeed bring back some of the fonder memories he had.
