Re: Demons of Oak; Lich Slaying
Siren sat at the window table at the "Ruby Mare" bar in Oak simultaneously watching the goings on in the town, the bar being well reputed for it's scenic view of the town being situated higher up on a the hillside, and the happenings within the bar. She easily registered the activity behind her in the reflections of the window and the glass she had rested between her hands on the table before her.
The glass was iced and full of a raspberry drink, she disliked alcohol as it was sharp and attacked her sense of taste that she so enjoyed in her drinks. Still, she had tried just about every brand out there. Drinks were a hobby of hers, and she was always open to trying new flavors. Even alcohols, though the major point most seem to find in such drinks was "The buzz". Considering Siren couldn't experience this "buzz" for herself, alcohol was dead to her.
Outside the window Siren's attention was drawn to the sight of a rising pillar of black stone, white bone, and purple fog that grew a ways down the hill in a busy market district in the less than wealthy side of town. She could easily register the bony growths on it's side, the rough texture of the black stones. The bone-barred windows that dotted along it's sides as it expanded over the course of just a minute or two.
Right when the structure's growth seemed to slow, a crack sounded over the entirety of the town. Immediately, even from this distance, Siren's maximized sense of hearing picked up on the screams from the square the tower had erected itself within. More so than before.
From the base of the tower two billowy black masses of roiling fog bound together in two icy forms as skeletal hands and a skull revealed themselves within and looked about with their frosty gazes as they started to freeze people left and right.
Welp. That's definitely a thing.
Siren flicked a platinum coin on the table, payment for what she was about to do since the doorway was packed tight... and burst through the window in front of her in a sudden burst of intense speed that the perception of those in the bar wouldn't even be able to follow. She was out, in the air, and rushing towards the tower with a trail of water and steam in the air behind her as she continued her rush at her more normal speeds, flickering point to point now and then to arrive at the chaos before her coin even settled on the table.
She snapped into place behind one of the icy wraiths and continued her momentum through as a long golden sword appeared in her hand that thrust through the specter like, well, a burning blade through butter. The undead creature had no time to react and was immediately vaporized by her attack, her sword's edge coated in a sharp jagged layer of her holy water.
It was less than a second when she was already upon the second wraith, who faced her and was able to raise a hand, more than likely in fear of the righteous wrath of her divine waters. The influence of her holy aura terrified and caused small little creatures of filth to flee. It was a useless effort however, as her sword carved through it's limbs and sliced through it's skull.
A quiver was felt through the air as the shower shuddered and grew spikes about itself as if in defense while the sky darkened overhead.
Siren's peachy eyes glared at the wicked tower, she could feel the terrific presence within. She could sense the tremor, the confusion, among creatures inside. Demons. Undead.
The last thing they likely expected was the holy waters of a devil slayer to knock on their door. Or rather...
Siren flickered away again, a rush sudden speed as she bashed in through the door head first, a set of watery horns crowning her head as she did so. Straightening herself just inside the entrance she flourished her blade, straightening it out at her side as steam rose off of it.
There was only one way to go from here. Up.
697-ish words.
Used Aquafoot spell, Abyssal horns, and the sword Seccenaciem.

Re: Demons of Oak; Lich Slaying
For some unknown reason, Leonard found himself venturing to Oak Town today. The bustling town with friendly cheers and smiles could be seen all around. Oak town was particularly famous in Leonard's opinion for their liquor. And although Leonard's stash still contain a considerable amount of alcohol, he felt like visiting town for some more of his favorite drink. There were a lot of bars and stores that sell fine delicate wines and liquors and believe it or not, Leonard hasn't been to all of them. In fact, he hasn't been to half of them.
Today, Leonard decided to pick out local favorites. He asked almost every drunkard he could find at that time to ask where is the best bar to be in when you're at the edge of town in need of a quick fix. They all pointed out to the "Ruby Mare" which had a beautiful scenic view of the town. He thanked the last man he asked, which was the one hundredth in his count and then walked towards the bar walking on the towns brick road. The trees shaded the path well, keeping it cool even on very sunny days. Couples sat on the benches on the side as Leonard walked. He would occasionally look to his side to see what they were doing and then smile as he would think of a normal peaceful life he wished he could have had with Raina.
Leonard continued to walk towards the bar until he could finally see it. He starred at the bar's outsides and saw that it truly was a remarkable place for a nice drink with someone you love as you overlook a romantic view which was preferably at night.
Leonard took one step forward when suddenly a strange commotion occurred in the center of town. A thick fog, black stone, and bones came out of nowhere causing great fear upon the townsfolk for he could hear them scream and scatter away from where the stone, fog, and bones appeared. Leonard felt the darkness coming from it. It was great and terrible. Truly powerful and could eradicate the entire town if it isn't stopped. Leonard turned to face the direction where the threat came from. But at the same time, someone burst out of the Ruby Mare. It was a girl and she ran with incredible speed towards the black stone pillar. He thought that whoever she is, or whatever it is she will do, Leonard made it a point to investigate the matter. With a speed that almost rivaled that of the girl, Leonard ran towards the pillar as well.
When he got there, he saw the girl fighting unholy creatures. And it seems others were headed for him too. They were undead minions that moved recklessly. They didn't seem to be ordinary summoned creatures. For they had distinct life forces that Leonard could feel, as well magic power, specifically Ice magic. If one is not careful, their appearances can fool someone and bring about that fool's demise. Leonard wanted to see what these creatures were capable of but they did not make a move as well. They were at a stare down but Leonard wouldn't allow any surprises.
Requipping the Sky Heart, he cast Sky dome to lock these accursed creatures along with other lesser beings who were unlucky enough to be caught in it.

Re: Demons of Oak; Lich Slaying
The great ebony double doors with their skull motifs and gore-ridden decor might have been imposing. Frightening even. To Siren, they were simply another door conveniently saying to the world "Some evil bastard lives here".
They broke easily. The two sides to the door burst inward and ruptured into stony fragments around her. A light wail akin to trapped spirits being released sounded as a faint blue mist rose and flew off in one direction as though they were trapped within the materials used to craft the door.
Inside the room Siren was met with the sight of many crucifixes composed of bone and hung upside down on walls with the bodies of men and women pinned to them with thick rail road spike like nails.
Their bellies and throats were split to spill blood and guts to the floor below where bloodways were carved into the ground and carried the blood along some intricate design on the floor.
Instinctively she knew not to step within the symbol, the evil emanating from it was palpable.
What was more pressing at the moment though was the three red-skinned demons with impish wings, short stubby horns, and long pitch-fork tails. Flames licked their skin and burned around their tails, long forked tongues hissed at Siren.
Along one of the walls was another one of the icy wraiths that turned to her. They were startled by the sudden collapse of their front door and the holy aura that rippled through the air around her and touched their twisted souls with the promise of a final death.
They Siren wasn't one to slow down, and before the rubble had finished falling she vanished and appeared with her blade reaping through the vaporous form of the wraith. Midway through the move she twisted slightly as she took another step and flicked across the room to cleave the head of one of the burning demons, and again on the other before the head of the prior demon had begun to fall.
The last of the demons in the room was quivering in the corner, gnashing it's teeth and wailing, a bony shield raised in defense as it cowered. It succumbed to the fear brought on by her presence. Siren ended it's miserable existence with a sudden swipe of her blade so quick the demon didn't have a chance to see it coming.
With a burning intensity in her gaze Siren exerted her will over the blood of the room, and of the unholy symbol. She had to dismantle it. Her will locked on and after a moment of concentration the blood lurched away to spiral towards her where it disappeared into her mouth, dying her lips crimson with it's stain.
She closed her eyes and took a deep breath, she didn't often eat blood. Especially in this quantity.
She opened her eyes again and bolted towards the landing of a set of bony stairs that spiraled up to the next level.

Re: Demons of Oak; Lich Slaying
The woman Leonard saw bursting out from the Ruby Mare helped herself and went in on the tower. He was greatly impressed at how fearless the woman was. Starring at an image of death like that and rushing towards it in reckless fashion in his eyes. As if a fangirl was excitied to meet and greet her favorite celebrity or something like that. However, in the meantime, Leonard was stuck with the creatures still outside as he dance his way through them, shattering the bones and expelling the spirits. Leonard kept on doing so, ducking and spinning from left to right as he evaded blows while delivering ones himself to execute his enemies and finally bring them peace. However, the ones he sealed off in the dome had dispelled it unexpectedly. Truly these beings are not to be taken lightly as the continue to reek with darkness and ice.
As soon as the creatures got out, they launched their attacks right off the gate. However that was to no surprise as creatures such as this would do so normally from his experience. He effortlessly dodged their moves and sliding off to the side with a spin while he changed his weapon to the Earth Shaker. At the end of the spin, Leonard struck the hammer down to the ground, creating a titanic force that rippled out towards his targets. Massive bits of debris flew out and the intact ground broke and flew off as well. Great clouds of smoke and dust came with them and a powerful wind burst forth making loose object fly, which were mostly wood and bones.
The wave found itself being blocked by the trio's combined effort as they set up a wall to protect themselves. Though it must have taken a toll on the bodies they currently possessed and they were for quite sometime. The wave also took care of other lesser dark creatures that were in the way, resulting to whatever was in front of Leonard was now a cracked wasteland, with only that pillar that blocked his attack standing. Now he wanted to go on ahead and lend a hand to woman who went inside. But he could still hear the voices of the unfortunate souls still possessed by his enemies. No, he couldn't leave them. And so Leonard devised a concoction to expel these evil spirits. Luckily, the materials were just scattered on the field and Leonard rushed to get them all. For him, this was absolutely necessary as all of his techniques and sword skills would undoubtedly kill these poor folk.

Re: Demons of Oak; Lich Slaying
____________________________________________
Siren bolted up the steps but she wasn't alone. Incorporeal wraiths faded in through the walls and tried to catch her by surprise. Poor fools. One. Two. Her strikes were quick and blindingly fast, sudden swipes that struck out at the creatures as they appeared without slowing her ascent.
Arriving on the second floor after but a second she headslammed a another door that tried to deny her entry, shattering it to fragments of bone and black stone as with the first door. Inside was another bloody ritual, this time with more bodies, blood caking the floor and walls in many wide splashes.
Greeting her just here was another of the red skinned demons that attempted to hurl fire at her but she was gone, vanished, already behind the creature with her sword through it's chest. Her blade cut through these demons with such ease her blade slipped easily upwards to cleave the thin in half from the heart up through it's skull and out as she stepped away again to appear at the side of two wraiths.
They appeared to move in slow motion to her. Frozen in place as her blade swung through the air to cleave through their misty bodies one after the other. A second demon was just a few steps away. It had just cast a fireball that was sailing slowly through the air towards where she was when she sliced the first demon. She ducked under it's outstretched arm, her blade biting into it's abdomen and carving it's way in and up dancing around it's bony ribs and up into it's chest cavity, the wound steaming as it's holy water edge seared it's flesh far more grievously than her already boiling water would a normal person.
She slowed with her blade in it's chest. She savored the beast's terrified expression as it glimpsed it's hellish fate in being truly slain, and not merely cast back down into the pit.
She withdrew her blade from it's body as she took in the several satanic ritual circles about the room, She stole the blood from them rendering them inert, and the second flight of stairs leading to the third floor.
Though she carved through these floors with ease... This was going to take forever. Meanwhile the tower kept growing.
She stopped for a second, just for a second, to formulate a new plan. Charging head on could take precious time away from the town. Blasting the place to hell would endanger the town as well, by her own hand.
As soon as she had the thought her mind remembered the size of the room below, this room here, and the rate of expansion at which the tower grew. She had a thought.
As the demon's body finished falling to the ground, having thought of her plan on the fly, she flicked her sword towards the ceiling and a jet of steam surged forward to strike it center mass, where a sudden burst of water exploded and swirled in growing vortex.
It quickly encompassed Siren harmlessly, her water's welcoming to her but scalding hot to others. The raging currents didn't budge her either, as they tore through the walls of the tower while it expanded. Eating away at it. Until... It hit the outer walls.
Siren, over the rush of water, heard the sound of the crack that shook the tower as her maelstrom ate wide enough that it was now thicker around than the tower was and the power of gravity stole the tower and brought it down further for the Maelstrom to eat away at the rest of the tower.
Siren bolted out from the side of the collapsing tower and back out to the outside world, landing a distance away from a man wielding a sword who just cleaved through a wraith.
She rolled with extreme ease once and rose to her feet to observe the tower tremble as it was consumed by her waters, like a great ship sinking to the depths of the ocean.
Siren grinned widely, in victory. A great scream was heard from the top of the tower that echoed out throughout the town as a great demonic lich creature burst from the roof and raise it's arms to conjure four more pillars around the tower which spewed more demons even as demonic beings clamored to escape the tower out from windows.
All at once it seemed the square was filled with dozens and dozens of monsters spilling out from hell in mass, even as the lich vanished without giving Siren time to assault it. She should have reacted quicker, damn.
She laughed once coldly to herself as the demons roared and howled about her. They weren't so fearful now, they had great numbers, right?
Siren extended her sword out to one side and brought it around in a great ark, leaving behind it echos of itself and her limbs. Turning gracefully to her side she made echos of these echos and of her upper body bound into one greater torso with three heads.
She gripped her blades firmer and took a combat ready pose even as her form suddenly became a great blur, her face disappearing into blankness as it became far too blurry to see.
To the demon's hearing a great shrill sounded that made many of them clutch their heads and wail, slamming their heads into the ground as though to stop it. They were caught off guard, plagued with the high frequency noise she gave off that only they and many animals that remained would hear, causing fear and panic to strike, amplified a thousandfold by her righeous aura.
Suddenly doubts struck their hearts as the devil slayer wasn't just a lone person anymore, but had become something else to their eyes. Something far more divine, yet wickedly violent.
The world seemed slow to her.
The demons wailing was garbled to her ears, she had risen to a higher frequency and their sounds were worthless noises. Yet still, Siren's voice rose loud above all, and in an equally distorted voice her speech became barely intelligible, a torrent of whirs and shrill notes that was only just recognizable. Her words still carried weight, especially to the hearts of the demons of Oak.
"<All the forces of hell will cower before me, champion of the Archdemon Calico and legend of depths. Mercy is for the innocent, experience now your true death.>"
Siren vanished, stepping through the demons leaving echos of her terrifying form in her trail posed mid-slash. She danced and wove through the multitude of demons delivering a blinding hail of sword strikes to each individual demon as they seemed incapable of reacting. Every now and then she was confronted with what was not a demon, but a human who she could sense was possessed. Against such she struck with the flat of her blade with equal intensity.
It was over in a flash, and in the blink of an eye Siren was crouched at a knee, her many arms outstretched behind her like abstract wings, others were faced down with the sword stabbing into the stone of the market square, as a great rain of blood exploded as her wounds appeared on the bodies all at once, casting a shower of red waters and chunky bits as though all the demons had been thrown into a blender.
She looked almost as much, if not far more so, of a demon as these lesser beings did. And Siren new it. She stepped away in an intense flash of speed and appeared a distance away from the man with the sword. She didn't have her sunglasses on, otherwise she'd have checked if he was magical in that moment. But the question beyond what sort of magic was self evident. He was obviously a mage of some sort seeing as how he was perfectly confident looking in the face of a demonic assault on the town.

Re: Demons of Oak; Lich Slaying
When Leonard was finished "purifying" these helpless creatures, the ground trembled and the sky roared. Leonard looked around for what was causing it, and heard that the source of the sounds and trembles was the spire. Something is happening inside, and whatever is happening, Leonard hoped that the lady inside was OK.
However, she was more than OK. In fact, she was the one causing the chaos. He watched with awe as the lady summoned forth a terrible maelstrom that brought the tower down. Crumbling down with pieces of black stone and bones that ended up in a pile of ruble emitting smoke on the ground. Then, the lady landed near Leonard and he had the time to look upon her. Who was she? Where is she from? Leonard had a lot of questions in his mind as he looked upon her beauty, but he was brought back to reality when the tower had finished falling down from the powerful maelstrom of water. Was it all over? Can they all get situated now? It looked like it and so Leonard tried to approach the lady.
However, he was stopped when a figure of great power of the dead appeared on top of the remains of the tower. It shrieked and summoned forth four more pillars around the town square, and more demonic creatures poured down on them. Leonard held is blade tight and readied himself for an onslaught. But something really curious happened as the demons were smashing their heads to the ground. What was causing it? He looked to his side and saw movement being made by the swords woman. She came upon a form that was so intense... Divine, so to speak. A transformation that turned her into a several-dozen armed, three-torsoed being that becme extraordinarily blurred out to the point that he can't see her face. The demons themselves feared it and they were helpless, immobilized by their fear. And then the lady struck. It such beauty and form some would describe as an omnislash.
But there was no time to stand idle and watch with awe at both the stunning beauty she possessed and the form of pure destruction she turned into while she struck numerous demons because there were other demons about, surrounding Leonard and heading for him. He looked around to find some of his targets are possessing civilians. They totaled six and this predicament would place more work on Leonard. But he closed his eyes and inhaled a lot of air before bending his knees and wrapping his arms around himself.
The demons got closer and closer... They were in arms reach when suddenly he spread open his arms and standing up straight. A violent gust burst out from Leonard, sweeping away all those demons near him. The storm continued and it was strong enough to carry the demons.
Little by little the demons received slashing blows as the winds would prove to be sharp enough to do that because the winds were made of his swords being swung around by the strong wind. And as the storm progressed, Leonard maneuvered it with his mind, making sure that the possessed civilians would only receive cuts to stop them in their tracks. Cutting them on their knees and arms so that they'd fall. Leonard would then hit them with the swords' hilt, aiming for their heads to knock them out.
The storm lasted for quite a while, and when Leonard was sure none of his enemies were alive the winds stopped and it revealed the blades being carried by it which were numerous before suddenly vanishing. And there at the sides, the lady was waiting, back to the beautiful form that Leonard can't help but stare at, regardless of how long. It was like looking at a Goddess with adoration near the point of worshiping. She was done incredibly fast, like as fast as a blink of an eye. A short silence fell over the place. It won't be long before another wave comes out. A simple nod was given to acknowledge her presence. At this point, there really is nothing to say that is appropriate. But Leonard felt this need to say something and so he said "Let's get this done quick, shall we?"

Re: Demons of Oak; Lich Slaying
As Siren cleaved through monsters at high speeds she noticed the blade wielding man was perceptively moving even at her distance. It was subtle at a distance like this, but as she diced monsters on her way to approach him as she thought, the man sped up as though to match her. It was a concept she was very familiar with. It happened with the more skilled individuals, it meant that the man was both powerful in his own right and a skilled swordsman.
Before approaching too close she veered off to slaughter the demons taking up 5/6ths the battlefield leaving the sphere of influence of the swordsman intact, both to avoid blending auras with him making him fade closer through 'bullet time', but to let him kill the demons of his own so she could witness his power, in the mean time her own action would appear as brief as possible.
Still, to his eyes Siren bet that he could follow her actions at least somewhat even at a distance like this.
It would be like a great blurred wave of movement, slowing down briefly as she approached him -but only somewhat- and speeding back up as she veered off.
When she finished her movement time caught up- or rather, she slowed her pace down to the point that it was once again perceptible. The resulting cuts all took effect and the fifty demons she counted exploded in showers of gore where she many strikes had diced them into chunks.
She was given plenty of time to witness the storm of blades the man had generated with which he lanced all the demons in his own section. He had excellent control over his storm and overwhelmed the demons after a time, while no less than six civilians who had been possessed were freed.
With her three apparent heads she saw the entire battlefield at once, and could see a slow trickle of multiple demons continue to leek from the spires. She dispatched them quickly, quickstepping to their sides and simultaneously cleaving at them with sidewards slashes and several piercing lunges all at the once, easily overtaking them within moments of one another.
Siren wondered where that demonic lich went, he had to be around here somewhere. Siren couldn't imagine where however, the creature's evil could still be felt but he was nowhere to be seen. She had a few guesses but she'd have to wait for the monster to reveal itself. Perhaps murdering it's minions will eventually do the trick. Perhaps destroying his spires would...

Re: Demons of Oak; Lich Slaying
Leonard was not given a reply as the lady continued to slice through the demons with grace and elegance. With the small moments he was able to catch her movements, he saw the form she took and the strikes she made with her red-bladed rapier. Her quickness was unrivaled as well. Moving from one spot to another as if time itself was the one that need to catch up with her.
It the end, it turned out to be a flawless performance and Leonard knew her power must be great. And as they stood upon the battlefield, they were given time to assess further damage. He observed the demons and he was glad to find out that there were no more possessed civilians and it only meant he could go all out now.
The spires spewed out more of the accursed demons and she helped herself with them, continuing to strike with the same poise and danger. And as she danced with her rapier, other demons came for Leonard.
They all charged with extreme speed and lunging different attacks with darkness and ice. He dashed forward to meet them in combat while being surrounded by a wave of white aura at the same time that increased his speed and strength. When he was about a meter away on one of them, he jumped up and struck one down with sheer force, with an added exploding effect because he was using his fire sword on his left hand. While the other two continued to come towards him, he equipped another fine weapon on his other hand and went berserk at them. Waving and slashing as he charged in. With the force he showed, nothing got in the way, even the very ground it self broke when the blades met it. The demons were able to block his reckless but powerful drive, but it didn't last as he was able to break through it and rip them apart. With the random intervals and slashing, no one could make up what happened. And with the gained momentum, he was ready to seek out more. And so headed for one of the spires. He headed for one specifically because he felt that one to be far more darker than the rest. Hoping that the source of all this evil will be there.
He approached the spire with speed, smashing through its wall of stone and bone. The holes around it continued to spew out smoke and demons at the same time. The ground was covered with demented bodies and blood. The atmosphere was given music to their ears as the screams and wails of poor souls echoed about. It was disgusting, and it fueled his anger even more. Now he was more determined to bring and end to all of this.
He dashed for the top of the spire, smashing through whatever damned obstacle or block was on the way, hoping to find the lich on top.

Re: Demons of Oak; Lich Slaying
Siren took off towards one of the pillars even as Leo, in the opposite direction, cleaved through more demons and took to the southern spire while she approached the northern spire.
The spires were like long black fingers composed of more black stone and bone settings, differing from the central tower in that these were just spires and were shaped more like segmented spines and littered with bloody runes.
As Siren approached, five more demons appeared from the spire, stumbling out and then in feeling the weight of her holy aura were rebuked, a possessed human dropping to her knees in tears, crying tears of tar from her jet black eyes. A red skinned dinner clutched it's head and spasmed on the ground, while one wraith wailed and froze in place with it's skeletal jaw hanging wide. Two of the three wraiths however, were uneffected.
Siren approached slowly, deliberately, dragging her blades through the stone-bricked square tearing up chunks effortlessly as she approached, grinning widely in a manner that her smile seemed distorted but was shown through the blur that masked the rest of her faces.
The two wraiths approached to attack her but with precisely four lightning quick flashes of her blades the two wraiths were severed into pieces, which ruptured into more pieces. In a bolting flash she disappeared then to appear behind the girl, no more than a late teen, and touch the flat of her blade against the top of her head.
The holy power contained within anointed the girl, and the demon within exploded out from her in black smoke that twisted in on itself and appeared to catch fire and burn in on itself.
Siren didn't stick around to watch though, and disappeared again to simultaneously decapitate the demon and cleave the last wraith in two.
She was standing at the base of the spire with that final movement, with a long wooden walkway spiraling up to the top of the structure.
Siren considered it, but instead held all her three dozen limbs in a readied pose, crouching slightly, and burst forward cleaving at the base of the thing. Her swords a flurry of golden blades carving through the black stone and bones, until less than half the structure's thickness remained.
Siren disappeared, and with her three heads and sword-weilding arms flaring behind her slammed the spire further up on it with her great holy yet demonic horns. A loud crack resounded that split down the middle of the spire as the weakened base gave way and the spire fell forward to crash with a thunderous noise of shattering stone as it reached the broken base of the central tower with it's length.

Re: Demons of Oak; Lich Slaying
[18:22:08] Serene : If it's that exessive, and if your posts are worthy to beat the monsters, then I think you could catch a break then.
As the great black spire fell and crashed inwards to collapse like a great bridge from the point of it's origin down inward to fall over the ruins of the central tower that Siren had lain waste to with her maelstrom.
As it fell, Siren rode along with it, her blades embedded in the black stone to keep her firmly anchored to the structure. It crashed with a great uproar and kicked up a massive dust cloud where it landed.
Siren remained in place, kneeling slightly against the force of the crash. She stood up triumphantly on the top of her defeated obstacle while she looked to the east to see one of the two remaining spires as the swordsman conquered the southern spire.
She barely shifted to the right towards the western spire when the ground was shaken by a great tremor that might have knocked Siren off her feet if she weren't still in a crouch with at least four of her arms sticking into the stone tower with their golden blades.
She immediately identified the origin of the tremor and witnessed two great fissures open up from the east and west spires as they ripped open the earth in three directions, splitting outwards as if trying to make a circle with the two broken and battered towers while the third fissure creaked towards the remains of the tower.
The fissures succeeded in their job, and there was a great shudder as if the ground they stood on became unbalanced.
The fissures had formed a ring disconnecting a large area from the rest of Oak Town, perhaps four hundred meters in diameter, she noted. But from the fissures spewed forth a great roaring wall of necrotic flames of a sickly green color, the walls soaring high into the sky.
Out from these flames spawned dozens and dozens of demons that crawled out from the bowels of the earth.
This was bad. This was very bad. No matter what they did the demons just kept coming, tenacious to break through out of hell and to tear at humanity at the hands of whatever dark master was allowing them to break through the barrier between the material realm and that of hell.
If someone did not take drastic action, Oak Town would be lost. The demons forced Siren’s hand.
Her red hair billowed about her as her three faceless horned heads seemed to meditate, her three chests expanding with as though taking in a great breath.
All the blood from all the slain demons, all the killed civilians, and all the men and woman who were tortured and gored through to make the tower and the spires. All the blood rose into the air and rushed towards her, condensing and disappearing into Siren’s wide mouths.
As the blood filled her, her eyes burned with energy becoming vibrant orbs of scarlet, red vaporous steam streaming out from the corners of her eyes making them wholly visible even through the faceless “mask” that was her face. Her horns seemed to grow longer, her aura growing thicker and more imposing. Power emanated off of her in waves that seemed to take visible form around her as raging bands of water that clawed at the air near her as if it had a mind of it’s own, mad to reap destruction.
Her body was already blurred and difficult to see, but steam billowed around her and her blurred form seemed to blend into the steam becoming barely perceptible.
She raised her three dozen limbs and howled a great piercing shriek that echoed throughout the field striking demons and undead with a cold dread that tore at their souls, or whatever black equivalent that served the purpose of it.
With the shriek however, a mass of steam was ejected from her body in all directions, timed perfectly as though her shriek had a physical shockwave that shot out pushed away by the force of her terrifying voice, barely recognizable as a human tone.
Seconds later as Siren remained standing in place there was a massive rumble as Siren met the demon’s earthern tremor and barrier of fire with her own massive wall of water in the form of four great towers of water that shot majestically upwards towards the sky dwarfing the huge walls of flame with her own towers of water, the towers rotating clockwise leaving water behind it as though stretching outwards until all four nearly connected leaving just the smallest of gaps between each of the four segments of the wall, but they weren’t standing in place.
Instead the four segments were moving, continuing to rotate in a clockwise motion at speeds that seemed to speed up as it closed. Each rotation seemed to shorten the four gaps until they vanished, it was as though her walls of water were closing in… and they were.
High above, towering greater even than any sky scrapper, the walls of water met with a massive blanket of dark clouds that sealed the tower in isolating the inside completely from those outside of the Tidal Tower.
There were no doubt civilians within the walls as well as the demons, but Siren had to be decisive. The demons would escape and flood all of Oak Town, possess their victims, mutilate others, and move on to ravage the rest of Fiore.
She might have had tears at the loss of life, but it was impossible in her current form.
She’d just have to take her anger out at army of demons that was learning that they could not escape and were tearing their way through men and women in the town between the water and the flames out of her view.
Other demons however, converged within the flames to charge the watery devil that was otherwise sure to end their lives.
There were hordes of demons big and small, composed of red skins and icy wraiths in the bulk, and Siren waded into them with blades carving through them like lightning in a dance of echoing shapes, appearing to be in many places at once as she left echos of her past moves behind her every time she stepped, each step making her dance across the battlefield in great strides from one side to the other or anywhere in between. Her blades dicing the bodies of the monsters at just a single apparent slash, causing them to burst in little clouds of blood and chunks which she devoured easily, empowering her further even as she fought.
She couldn’t hear the exact words, but she was not completely deaf, and the distorted shrieks and screams of demons and humans filled the air, the howls of demons around her playing in symphony two fold for every human cry that met her ears from beyond the flames, her blades bringing down the fiery vengeance in her heart upon the horde cutting through clusters of the filth with every flourish of her blades.
The demons swarmed so thickly that there was little room for maneuvering, her primary defense being bursts of speed that made her seem to flicker throughout the battlefield leaving demons to claw at her false echos she left behind, or to shatter the limbs of attacking demons in showers of meat as they attempted to strike at her.
The demons weren’t entirely powerless against her, and there was a sharp pain in her side as one demon scraped her side with a claw before three arms lanced the beast with a flurry of stabs that pierced it’s body through and blurred as they ripped it apart and Siren arched her backs to raise her heads high to the sky and devour more blood, holding her breath a second then violently lowering her head with her mouths open wide projecting three great flickering threads of high intensity water out in all directions, and spun creating three beams of water that were thinner even than the eye of a needle and barely detectible as they carved through the demon horde in three places at once, rotating sharply to cleave the vast majority of the demons in half, the beams of water slicing through stone and steel in kind causing the remaining spires to slide as they split in half, the building past the flames and the demons within and about them sharing the same fate though she couldn’t witness .
She had hoped that most people in the homes outside those flames would at least be cowering low, in hiding, or higher up above ground level… If not… it was a quick death. She hoped. And better than being torn apart at the hands of the demons.
It was over in a second, leaving dozens of twisted demon torsos and legs, missing limbs and body parts littering the ground, there were plenty who survived of course. Those who were low or too high for the beam to cleave in two.
But the fight wore on as from the flames came the thundering sound of hooves as two six legged demons with great muscular torsos and horned heads charged her from either side of the flaming ring at a galloping pace, two arms raising great poleaxes while two other arms below were burning with flames to throw exploding infernos at her. Siren dodged with an easy step vanishing to leave an echo for them to tear apart with flames as she appeared at crouch swinging her golden blades at one of the beasts legs cleaving them from it’s bull-like lower body sending it wrecking into the other charging beast, roaring at the pain as it struggled.
The second demon leapt easily over the large body of it’s predecessor without breaking stride and slammed it’s long axe where she was just a second ago, Siren had moved so quickly out of the way it was almost as though she hadn’t moved at all, or as if she was never there, moving to the side so perfectly that she was still standing right there in front of the beast and throwing her weight against it’s own forcing it into a dead stop. It’s flaming hands tried to grab at her and it’s hooves tried to pound her down.
The great demon stood twice her height but Siren’s feet dug into the earth and she stopped the beast, the raging torrents of water surrounding her carved into the beast’s flesh and slicked it’s burning hands from it’s limbs. Hear three heads raised back and slammed forward, the great horns of raging water bursting against it’s body causing bones to shatter and blood to burst behind as her headbutt put a crater in the beast’s body.
Simultaneously, seven of her blood soaked swords stabbed inward onto the sides of the monster and tore free in a shower of gore, the little hooks in the blades causing maximum damage shredding the monster’s internal organs.
The beast shuddered, a moan escaping it as it sluggishly fell forward in a bow as it died.
The other demon she noticed was still living and was trying to crawl towards her with it’s remaining legs and it’s four muscular limbs, she eyed it, and looked at the demon she’d just slain. Kicking off easily she appeared on it’s back and with a swing cleaved off it’s head. A second slash, and her blades carved a path down it’s middle all the way down to the hips connecting it to the lower bull half.
A scissoring swing with four of her own arms, she swung inward and cleaved the two halves of it’s torso from it’s lower body.
That was sure to end it, just to be sure.
The other demon was still dragging itself towards her determinedly, it’s mouth open in a sneer.
Siren might have laughed. Instead, she vanished and appeared behind it to unleash a storm of slashes across it’s body from the the end of it’s bull-like back and up to it’s head, ending it in moments.
It was a simple task to finish off the straggling demons that survived her three-pronged beam attack, taking only a few seconds to blitz around the battlefield to end them.
When the last demon within the area fell a weighty evil force could be felt that darkened the land around her deepening all shadows and making it feel like the walls had eyes.
From the remains of the central tower, thoroughly ruined from the chaos of the battle that took place, rose a horned figure with the head of a skull with many ebony horns curving out from it’s head. A long ghostly cloak draped from the mantle that hung over it’s shoulders hiding it’s body entirely.
The land seemed to get darker and darker the closer to that figure it got, the shadows twisting and moving with shadowy life around it. The figure was so silent, it felt like the world around it itself didn’t want to acknowledge the being’s presence. It was… as silent as she was. Her misty form heavily blurred like a long faded memory of devil in a dream.
The white steam that filled the air around Siren clashed with the green vapors that drifted up from beneath the lich’s cloak mingling in swirls of vapors as the cold stare of the skull met the gaze of Siren’s scarlet eyes. She could feel it trying to exert some power over her, she could feel the weight of it’s power trying to push it’s will against hers. But it was just a light sensation, and the being’s magic couldn’t find purchase against the might of her own will.
This was the source of this demon uprising, this lich was the cause of the dead and the reason for this chaos. If Siren had not been here there was no telling what carnage could have been brought upon the town. It’s forces would have been able to multiply and become unstoppable, it was certain.
Or perhaps other heros would have filled in the fateful place of being there to stop the invasion. But Siren, in all honesty, doubted that there could be many others out there as suited to her to quell this situation.
The lich slowly extended a boney limb out from the folds of it’s robe, burning with it’s sickly green flames as it stared blankly with its hollow eye sockets.
