At first it were nothing bet rumors, a whisper about missing children. And as always those rumors reached Frederick's desk. Who in turn just waved them away, because it wasn't so strange for children to disappear. Or even to be found dead. It was after all the world they lived in. But then those rumors slowly turned into stories, and eventually it turned into a nationwide phenomenon. Hitting every newspaper there was.

Fellow citizens, again tragedy have struck us. As yet another group of children turned up dead. Laying around the fields that surround towns and cities. And what does our government do about this?! Nothing! Nothing at all. They just think as if it some sort of hoax. But let me tell you people, it is true! it does happen. And it doesn't make a difference. Rich or poor, boy or girl! No it takes them all. And any of your kids could be next. What is this vile and sick creature that....

Frederick sighed upon reading the first part of the article. And decided to stop reading it, it was nothing more then a journalist that tried to shout out loud against the government. And used this happening as the perfect excuse for it.
But that didn't mean it was any less true, even Frederick couldn't turn away from this anymore. He had to find out who or what was able to do this. And more importantly could it be a potential asset to the guild.

He tossed the newspaper aside, and gazed out of the window. Onto the streets of the mountain village. The latest place to be hit by this ill occurrence. While his own thoughts tried to process the happening, trying to figure out if it could be some sort of beast. But he came to only one conclusion and that was that even for him Frederick master of Savage Skull, this was quite macabre. It sounded almost like some grim fairy tale from local folklore.

Time passed by as he sat behind the window gazing upon the streets, when the night slowly started to make her appearance. And a dusk glow covered the town.
Frederick knew it was time, so he stood up and walked towards the exit of his room. For if that creature truly exists then tonight, it wasn't the only one that roamed in the darkness.

As the lights of day faded below the jagged mountains that surrounded the village in the valley below,  the temperatures plummeted as deathly chill rolled across the valley floor.

Flowers lined the streets and a wooden statue had been erected in the center of the settlement.  They mourned the loss of six children,  while two more were bed ridden with sickness.

In the small community town,  each of the children were known by most others.   The small village only had a population of three hundred,  and their loss was felt by the families.

But that wasn't all they lost,  outside of the village in the fields they had lost four herds of cow and sixteen horses.  Thirty chicken.  Six goats.  And four acres of farmland had withered overnight.

The town mourned not only for the lives of their children but for the withered food stores and the fear of being able to survive the winter that could be felt even this night.  In just another week more the mountains would be sealed off with snow,  no wagons would be able to pass.

There was no hope for supplies to arrive,  and no hope of them continuing to arrive throughout the winter.   Their lively hood had been stricken with no foreseeable return.

Clementine had ruined them not once,  but three times.  She killed half their remaining livestock and two children each night for the past three nights.

The terror that hung around the families was palpable.  They boarded windows,  locked doors,  and slept with their children at their side for fear of their loss.

As they'd found out last night,  it did not help.

It wasn't the first town or village Clementine had ravaged,  she'd lain waste to farmlands all around this pathetic kingdom,  and several cities to the east past "Fiore".

A blight was sweeping the lands and none could find rhyme or reason for the famine that was spreading.   Already,  over half the farmlands had been hit,  withered over night.  The fields being discovered in the morning with the bodies of the dead children lying dead among the ruined crop.  Their faces serene,  as though they died at peace and of natural causes...  save for the sickness that afflicted those who lingered around the bodies.

Why did Clementine stand here then,  at the bring of a town she'd already devastated not once but twice?

She was expecting company.   She'd caught wind of the shadowy figures that were prying for information.  They were good,  she couldn't trace them on her own.  At least not easily.   If they wanted to find her,  Clementine decided the easiest course of action was to leak information.

If the shadowy figures were as good as she gave them credit for, they'd pick up on the events here and after three hits on the same town in a row,  she had hoped they'd get the clue.

With the last tendrils of light retreating now,  Siren folded her great black wings in on herself,  and in a flourish of feathers vanished to stand in the deepest shadows in the edge of town.

From the folds of her dark dress she withdrew an obsidian flute and began to play a song.  A song for the innocent lives of the town.  A silent song.  It's notes carried on the wind as she stepped past the threshold of the village.  The ears of the lonely,  and the desperate.  The fearful.  The children.

As she walked her Heartsong settled on the minds of the elders and lulled them to sleep even as they stood watch over their children's beds.  A fact that they'd never forgive themselves over.  Not when they awaken to find the bed empty.

As Clementine walked under the stars,  her eyes closed yet seeing all,  her song called the children towards her.   They climbed out of windows,  they crawled up chimneys,  they did whatever it took to find the source of the music that captured their hearts.

Three children followed behind her,  smiling and holding hands as they followed their black winged angel.

As she made her way to the opposite end of the village she saw the figure of a man, a man unphased by her music.

Clementine smiled wickedly as she continued to walk. Unless the man interrupted her, she would continue to lead the children away and to the small field of wheat that remained the last of the village's farmland.

As Frederick wandered through the village, he started to notice in what for a miserable state this place really was. It was off course because of the grief that had struck these villagers, the incident were the young children from their community were ripped from their precious life. Had left a scar upon their lives that would never heal. And everything about this town showed that, for there was no light shining through the windows of their homes. And the withering flowers that laid around to appease their dead were just a macabre sight during the night.

His thoughts on the village were disturbed when he heard an enthusing melody. A melody that was hard to describe. It was mysterious yet warm. Eerie but strangely soothing. But while Frederick was trying to pinpoint the sound he noticed there was movement around him. Doors and windows that were being opened, and from out them came children. That each moved nimble enough to climb down, or to climb over obstacles. But all in one singularity.
And as Frederick moved his vision along the children towards were they were walking he saw an entity. At first glance it looked like it had the form of an angel and didn't seem to have even the slightest interest in him. But then it gave him a wicked smile, right before she turned around and walked out of town. With the children following her.

All but Frederick could do was to follow her as well. Not wanting to interrupt this process, for he wanted it to see what this enthusing entity with her raven black hair would do. Would she let them be the orchestra with their screams while she brought despair upon them. Or would their deaths as appealing as she was.

    >Keep playing the song in the last post as you read. Sets the feel/emotion of the posts<

Clementine walked casually away from the sleeping village with the wretched children in tow,  their numbers greater now as every child the village had to offer was taken from their homes this final night.

They followed behind their leader,  holding hands,  laughing,  skipping.  Singing.  They were happy,  her song making them feel welcome and filled with joy.  It made them feel whole.

A dozen children played in merriment through the field of wheat,  oblivious to the blackening plantlife that withered and curled as she passed.

In the center of the field,  Clementine's power grew and laid thick on the land around her causing a great circle of wheat to die around her,  making space for her and the children as her song grew louder,  her wings spread wide and burning with flames.

The children formed a ring around their angel,  holding hands as they skipped around her shouting,  changing,  laughing.  Howling aloud at their freedom and the fullness of their hearts.

A minute passed,   then ten,   twenty.   One by one the children broke off with their gleeful expressions to rest in the field outside of the ring where they stumbled and coughed,   or clutched their chests still bright with the warmth of this siren song.

The last of the children jumped cheered around her as she played the last notes from her flute.   The flame of her wings died out as they folded in on her back.    The last child slowed her pace.   She stumbled,  but caught herself.  She coughed and shuffled,  her eyes searching the dying field around her and the bodies of the other children.

With confusion she looked to the angel,   who took a slow step towards her and touched the girl's cheek.  Hope filled the child's eyes even as their lights faded,  and with a last smile she fell to the ground at Clementine's feet.

Clementine's wings spread wide while she smiled,  raising her face to the stars in silent joy.   She raised her hands up at her sides as they burned with brilliant light as two small suns formed in her hands.   She raised them ritualistically above her head before in a violent slam brought them together and the light died as a hot wave of force coursed out from her in a deathly ripple that snuffed the life out of the last of the mountain farmland.

Her arms lowered slowly in time with her wings.   The smile still on her face as though the life snuffed out in this field this night brought her happiness.

Her eyes still closed and serene,  she turned to face the direction of the man who followed her from the village at a distance,  and waited as still as a statue for his move.

It still took a few moments before Frederick broke the silence, because for some reason it almost felt like a crime to disturb the serenity that the being had created. It was a strange and conflicting feeling what Frederick witnessed. A mixture of a gruesome display, yet peaceful at the same time. It was an darkness that he never knew that existed. And so very different then his own emptiness.

A few moments after the being had lowered her arms. Frederick finally started to speak. His cold and monotone voice that was devoid of any emotion felt out of place, when it pierced through the night during this serene moment of time.

'I've fought tremendous beasts, ventured through the most vile ruins. And I even saw what lies at the bottom of the abyss of darkness. But even I with all my power have never seen a display as this. So tell me my dear, what for an astonishing creature are you?'

As Frederick observed her closely, he could notice that even tho she did resemble a human she was far above that. And it awakened his craving for power, the only feeling he truly felt now a days. Specially after his loss at Rose Garden.
