Era. The "holy city" of Fiore. Where the Magic Council and the Rune Knights were stationed, and he was right under their nose. A dark mage roaming the streets with no one being the wiser, it was actually quite exciting. Since he was still a fledgling in the whole "underworld", no one knew who he was, and he planned to keep it that way for as long as he possibly can. Unfortunately, he knew that it would come to an end if he wanted to topple the Magic Council, but that would be done at a much later date in the future. Right now, he had to worry about escorting some noble to a ball. Why didn't they have dates of their own? Well, apparently, it was because they had a bad attitude about them ever since her mother died. Everyone had their problems, but leave it to the rich to pay someone off to take their daughter to a ball, and the worst part, he knew that he was being bribed. It doesn't matter when I need the money... he thought before knocking on the golden rimmed, wooden door.

Shaku dressed up appropriately for this occasion, renting out a sleek black tuxedo, custom tailored pants, and shined loafers to take this lady out, all paid for by the man who was giving him the job, which was quite nice. The nicer I dress, the better I feel. Strange how that works Shaku thought while the door slowly opened and he was greeted by a tall man, very prominent in the political machine of Era, whose daughter was standing right behind him. The man leaned in and thanked him for this and that if he could make his daughter a bit less rude and distant from strangers, leaving Shaku only to nod. It's not like he was going to outright deny his client's wishes, that would be suicide. Especially so as he would be pissing off a prominent figure in Fiore, and it was way too early to be on the radar. Hell, he could be imprisoned if he pissed off the wrong people.

The girl finally showed herself, in a long white dress with matching high heels and pearl earrings, from what he saw in his initial observation. "M'lady" he said as a joke while holding his hand out for her, causing a small smirk to appear on her face. This is going to be easier than I thought. With a kiss goodbye from her father, she and him were off, back to the front gate of the establishment. Shaku fully expected walking to the ball, but he should've expected differently, as a large black carriage for two was sitting in the front of the gate, with an old man at the reigns of two horses in front. With a sigh, he opened the door and stepped up, helping the lady up as well, with her sitting next to him. When the door shut, they were off, letting him try to work in some casual conversation the whole time.

Shaku soon found out that she wasn't the kind of rude that he had first thought, it was more the kind of political, rich person's kind of rude, meaning that she didn't speak much at all. It could be perceived as rude by people trying to make conversation with her, but not him, he knew that she was still heartbroken over the loss of her mother, making him a bit sympathetic to the poor girl. "I'm sure it must have been hard when she first passed, but don't you think she would want you to keep going with your life and not waste it by pushing everyone away?" he said, a generic line to comfort someone. He got a low moan as a response from her, it obviously must have made her think a little bit. "Come on, you can start here at the ball. Just have a good time" he said, genuinely wanting the girl to finally move on. A constant state of mourning and depression, he'd rather be dead.

The carriage had finally stopped, and the driver helped out the girl while Shaku simply exited out of the other door. With the woman on his arm, he slowly walked her in through the massive doors of Era's ballroom hall. This was a massive room, filled with ice makers making the sculptures, water mages manning the few bars scattered across the floor, a crystal maker crafting the perfect chandelier over head, while music mages filled the room with a very calm atmosphere. Wow, this is without a doubt, the fanciest party I have ever been to in my life. Probably paid for using the money collected by the citizens of Fiore... Those animals running the Council need to be taught a lesson through blood and fire he thought a bit angrily, but careful not to let his anger known. They'd arrived a bit late, and he was unsure of the proper thing to do at a gathering like this, so he led her to the area where many people were dancing and followed the music.

He didn't really know how to dance, so his moves were a bit sloppy, but it was fine because he simply followed the rhythm of the music. Swaying side to side with his silent date and even spinning her around a few times. Before he could even process it, all the lights were on them, all the attention, the limelight, on the two of them. Shaku simply played to the piper's tune and went along with it, until he eventually put a smile on the girl's face. She's having a great time, and as much as I hate to admit it, I am too. he thought before ending the dance with a dip. Everyone began clapping around them, causing his date to blush and him to bow to them. In all the commotion, he felt a pull and then he was running, following the girl back to the carriage, she seemed done here. On the ride back she thanked him for giving her a feeling she hadn't felt in a while, happiness. Leading her back to her door, he raised his arm to knock, but just as he was about to hit the door, she caught his attention and kissed him, asking if he would ever come back to visit. "Of course, but I don't even know you're name. I'm Shaku" he said, blushing a bit from what had just happened. "I'm Felicity" she said with a smile, opening the door with a key she had. "I'm home father!" she called out, prompting her dad to come to the door. "I haven't seen her this happy in a long time. Thank you. And don't worry about the clothes, they're yours" he said, handing Shaku the bag of jewels as a reward. He reluctantly accepted it, forgetting that it was all a job. Though, he would be satisfied even if he wasn't paid, as he had just made a new friend, with connections too. This would be an important relationship for his mission down the road.
