Even though my life hasn't been all that great

      400 WORDS

    @Dela

    THEME SONG

I have seen war, famine; witnessed the genocide. Have seen the changes in human nature and history, and I am still here, standing alone. Til the end, I will be there too. To witness the endless carnage, to live this harsh reality. Cause I have been cursed, Cursed with immortality.
    Cillian was giggling to himself.

Yes, he was quite pleased with his efforts. The necromancer had taken quite a bit of pride in how well he had stepped up in life, lately. For someone who had literally zero experience being in a relationship, he felt he was doing rather good at his first attempt at being a boyfriend. Sure, he was pretty busy with his restaurant and guild work, while Dela was busy being a badass Rune Knight… but the war, while certainly on going, had settled into a lull for the time being, which meant they’d had a lot more time for each other lately. They spent quite a bit of it together at his place, with Dela staying the night frequently whenever she could.

Today was much the same as any other day, but instead of just hanging out and relaxing, Cillian had made plans. He’d told Dela as much, though he was suspiciously vague on the details. The only thing he’d informed her was to “dress comfortably, for an adventure.” He himself had chosen a slim pair of blue jeans with brown dress shoes, a black shirt with white checker marks on on side, and a green button up cotton shirt with long sleeves that had been rolled up to his elbows. His pants were held firmly in place by a leather belt, and there was a chain dangling from one of his belt loops that was fixed to something hidden in his pocket. He’d also adorned a pair of thin framed glasses.

The tall man waited patiently for his girlfriend to arrive, lounging comfortably on the couch with his iLac in his hand. Currently, he was doom-scrolling – as Dela liked to call it – recipes on a social media site. It was rare that he ever came across anything he’d never made or eaten before, but occasionally he’d come across something that caught his interest, his chef brain turning over ways to improve the recipe and make it better. Resting on the coffee table next to him was a plate of freshly baked cheesy bread rolls; he always liked to have something delicious available for Dela to snack on when she got there, knowing just how to spoil his woman in the best possible way. As always, the front door would be unlocked so she could simply let herself in when she got there.
I figure that if I live long enough, something good might happen.

Adventure of a Lifetime Empty Re: Adventure of a Lifetime

Post by Dela 21st October 2024, 4:03 pm

    It was kinda funny.

Despite her wild antics to try and seduce Cillian over the years, she hadn't given the future much thought. Maybe it was because she didn't have that luxury until recently in many ways. Truth be told, she assumed that defeating Aberneel and trying to save her twin would result in her ultimate demise. The last century had been laser-focused on one thing, the only thing that had given her meaning. There's been no room for life plans, so she'd been blissfully fine with being alone. She thought she was a loner. A happy, lazy loner.

Dela had cherished the occasional outings with her friends, both of which were hot, but even then it was a very 'in the heat of the moment' thing. Go out, get plastered, harass someone for a flash of 'I'm alive!' and wistful fulfillment, but ultimately get back to the grind and retreat into herself and her investigation. She'd run back to her room to pass the time alone because alone was safe. Being separate and disconnected from everyone would make it easier when the time came and her soul was emptied from her crystal. The last thing she wanted to do was hurt those she loved. The loss of Vera only aggravated this viewpoint.

But, big thanks to Cillian, everything had turned out surprisingly fine.

Sure, now that her personal arc was over, she was forced back into life and had to face the messed-up world itself, but somehow it was still a breath of fresh air compared to her life until now. However, she had no idea what her seemingly endless life was supposed to look like with so much road ahead of her. It was daunting and brought a whole new slew of changes to clumsily stumble through because she sure as h*ll didn't have her footing anymore.

Dela faced off against a new boss battle: loneliness. The sanctity of her dorm at RKHQ had been shattered. Laying there in her off time, pizza grease soaking into her tank top while she pwned n00bs in competitive didn't hold the sparkle it wasn't did. Her piles of plushies didn't hold the same comfort as two stupidly large arms. Whether it was because of the future or because she was hopelessly in love didn't matter, because the two went hand-in-hand. Her future was with Cillian and whatever they did was together, presuming the world didn't blow itself up.

The problem was, as bad as it was to think, the warcries had become warwhispers lately. She was less busy, and thus, less distracted, and thus terribly lonely. Cillian was busier. They weren't together enough! Every extra second she had was spent scampering off to stay with her busy boyfriend when their schedules remotely aligned, and sometimes, even when they didn't. It wasn't unusual for her to hop a late-night train even when they had work early the next day, simply because her past haunted her in the small hours. Dela couldn't go it alone anymore. It felt worse than dying, and Dela had plenty of experience in that department.

Today, Cillian had made plans. Mysterious plans. She was proud of him for many things, like his restaurant and whatever she pretended not to know about his other activities, but most of all, how surprisingly not bad he was at being a boyfriend after being so utterly uninterested and clueless in it for so long. Not that she was an expert at romance, relationships, or being a girlfriend, mind you; this was many firsts for her, too. Playing otome games could only prepare her so much, so she had no idea if she was doing it right. It felt good, though, so they must be doing something right.

    Oh, she was spoiled, alright.

Dela did not like not knowing things, though. Ninety percent of her personality was being in everyone's business, snooping for info on everyone and everything. Every time her beloved boyfriend went all sussy baka, her Dela-senses tingled. If Cillian knew her at all, it was no surprise that she busted in the unlocked door like a pent-up teenage boy, eyes wide with manic curiosity. She was dressed for adventure as he'd instructed, with a backpack full of random things that may or may not apply to whatever they may or may not be doing, chest heaving because she'd run all the way to his place and up the stairs.

"What's the adventure?!" she greeted, letting her backpack thunk to the middle of the floor as she rushed him. His tablet was batted out of his hand like a bratty cat and she flung herself unto his lap and hands in its place. After a kiss, she attempted to start her interrogation.

"Tell me, what do you have plan--" she broke off to sniff the air "-- Is that cheesy bread?" she asked, wiggling around on his legs until she saw one. Of course, like the small blonde chipmunk she was, she grabbed a piece and crammed it very attractively in her mouth... because she hadn't eaten before she came. Hence why they were probably waiting on her to start with.
