The Rune Knights are a military faction based out of Fiore, and they follow an IC military hierarchy as follows. Please see each rank's description for information about the rank. Aside from the Field Marshal and Director, all Rune Knights must eventually choose a branch to specialize in in order to get a higher rank. This branch may be changed at any time. Privates, Corporals, and Sergeants are considered enlisted soldiers and do not have to specify a branch if they don't wish to. All ranks above Sergeant are considered officers.
Please note: It is possible for someone of a lower site rank than you (C, B, etc) to hold a higher Knight position than you. If your Knight rank is below someone else's, they should generally be deferred to or respected as a superior authority ICly, regardless of branch. Rank ups are approved by either the Director or Field Marshal.
Each rank above Private is allowed a "squad" of NPC soldiers that they can consider themselves to be in charge of. These soldiers are only for personal arc and RP purposes and may not be used in PVP or Event threads unless they are worked into your magic somehow, such as with summoning or bond magic. A Private is at the bottom of the Rune Knight totem pole. They have just been introduced into the Knights, and must establish themselves. Regardless of site rank, all new Rune Knight members start as a recruit until they have finished an IC introduction.

Corporal is the first rank where a Rune Knight starts to have some authority over his or her peers. They have enough experience on the job to merit some additional responsibilities, and have done enough to catch the notice of their direct superiors.

A Sergeant is the highest rank for enlisted soldiers, and the highest one can achieve without selecting a branch to join. They are well known by their peers, trusted by their supervisors, and have shown qualities of leadership.

Staff Sergeant is the lowest tiers of officers in their respective branches. They have proven themselves soldiers of merit that are ready, willing, and able to be shaped into effective leaders. They are trusted to make decisions on missions without always needing to consult their direct superiors, and have been assigned a squad of their own to oversee.

Warrant officers are considered lower-middle ground authority within the Rune Knights. They have established themselves as consistent leadership material, and are often placed in charge of missions without being actively overseen by their direct supervisors.

Lieutenants have fully proven themselves as competent leaders and effective Knights. They are well respected by their peers and have done enough to merit the attention their immediate superiors. Soldiers of this rank are trusted to operate independently, generally only working with their direct superiors for special case missions when needed.

Captains are considered upper-middle leaders of their branches. They have done enough to be noticed by not just their immediate superiors but also the leaders of the faction. Officers of this rank are not only trusted to operate independently, but also with leading larger squads and supervising lower ranked leaders such as the Lieutenants and Warrant Officers. These players have also shown OOCly that they are responsible members that consistently contribute to the faction’s growth and activity, understanding and adhering to the faction’s expectations.

These players have also shown OOCly that they are responsible members that consistently contribute to the faction’s growth and activity, understanding and adhering to the faction’s expectations.

MAJOR GENERAL (O-7)
A Major General is considered the head of their branch when the General is not present. They are just shy of all the rank and authority of their General, answering only to the Generals, the Director, and the Marshal. They have done enough to be noticed by not just their peers but also the Magic Council, and many of the citizens of Fiore have heard their name. These players have also shown OOCly that they are responsible members that consistently contribute to the faction’s growth and activity, understanding and adhering to the faction’s expectations. Major Generals are considered OOC leaders of the faction. There is only one Major General per branch.

GENERAL (O-8)
In the absence of the Field Marshal or Director, Generals are considered in charge of the Knights as a whole. These officers have worked hard to earn their titles, have shown they are capable and responsible leaders, keep cool heads in the face of adversity, and either their names (or their deeds) are well known throughout Fiore and sometimes beyond the country's borders. These players have also shown OOCly that they are responsible members that consistently contribute to the faction’s growth and activity, understanding and adhering to the faction’s expectations. Generals are considered OOC leaders of the faction. There is only one General per branch.

The Director is second in command of the Rune Knights, and considered a leader of the entire faction. Generals report directly to the Director, and the Director reports only to the Field Marshal. This character is considered very well known within Fiore as well as other countries that keep track of foreign militias. The Rune Knights faction is divided into four OOC ranks that determine the amount of the additional rewards that each member receives upon completing Faction and site lore events. In order to ensure that each member is held to the same standard, please refer to the follow information as a guide for how to increase your faction rank within the Rune Knights. All brand new members to the Rune Knights start at the rank of Private and thus the tier of Soldier, no matter their mage rank on the site (B, S, X, etc). Commendation Ribbons
Commendation Ribbons are awarded based on completion or participation in different threads, events, site perks, and more! When earned, they are added to your entry in the roster. Unless otherwise stated, for ribbons that involve threads the threads must be completed to earn the ribbon. For ribbons about faction or site positions, you can claim those even if you no longer hold the position so long as you can provide proof that you once held it. Suggestions for more ribbon ideas are always welcome! Please submit them on discord, or PM them to one of the leaders of the faction.
