“Look, I do what they tell me to do.” Deva spoke with annoyance in her voice as she faced a woman in her doorway. The job was simple enough, show up, and take care of the convict. He and her weren’t much different from one another, except this guy got caught and was doing time while she was out and living a free life of chaos and violence. It didn’t take the squares long to realize that he was missing from where he was supposed to be, and the job posting was quick. Once again, in some quick need of cash, Deva almost immediately took up the offering. See, she had a plan to make this job go by super quick.

Or at least she thought so, until she was met with a disgruntled significant other at the door. It was pretty uncharacteristic of her to even knock but Deva was feeling particularly kind that day given what she was going to do later. For now, however, her ears were being spared no remorse as this woman decided to just dump all of her trauma and problems with the government onto Deva. It’s safe to say that her patience was running thin, and it was taking pretty much everything she had to not snap at this woman and do something she would regret.

However, Deva was only human and she only had so much patience.

“Yeah yeah, alright. How about…” As a last attempt to make sure this was something Deva was going to commit to, she raised her hand up and placed her palm towards the woman. The hope was that they would take this as a sign to maybe shut up, but nope. More yelling, more screaming, more wasting Sam’s time. There was a meal somewhere with her name on it after this job and prolonging the time it’d take for her to get back was a quick way to lose your head.

Like this woman figured out as Deva clamped down her fingers around their temple. With a swift execution of Spetnaz Solo, her arm grew shockingly powerful as she squeezed. The woman’s head made a popping sound as it was crushed in Deva’s palm, followed quickly by a thud as her body hit the floor. Stepping over the bloody mess and wiping her hand on the inside wall, Deva spoke to the dead body. “Oh no, how could he do this?” It was monotone and said as a joke as she didn’t really care either way, but it may dock her pay if they found out she also went of a spree.

Closing the door, the Iser returned to her job. “Hey, idiot! It’s time to go, you can make this easy or hard. Please pick hard!” Her voice echoed through the home as she wandered around, checking every room for her mark. Nothing in the kitchen, nothing in the living room, so realistically the next choice was upstairs. Wasting no time, Deva launched her way up the steps to the top floor and proceeded to kick down each door. The first one? Nothing. The second? Also nothing. But the third? It revealed to her a man halfway through a window with a small girl watching in the corner.

“No you don’t!” With a swift step of Kislev Rush, she reached the other side of the room in an instant and grabbed him by his leg and dragged the mark back into the room. “I see you chose the hard way.” Placing her foot on his back, she grabbed his leg and twisted it as hard as she could, turning it a full 360 degrees. His wails of pain filled the room and his daughter slunk back into the corner. Not really caring by this point, Deva’s arm wrapped around his torso and went up with hers, placing him firmly on her shoulder.

“Alright, that’s your one scream. The next one and I bring you back in various-sized pieces, got it?” Assuming there was a quiet nod, Deva shattered the glass of the window and hopped out to the street below, making her way to the nearest turn-in point. The entire way she was thinking about the meal that was going to follow the job.

And that was pretty much how it went down. Oh, as she was turning him in Deva made sure to cover her tracks. “By the way, the wife was dead when I arrived. Real shame, can’t believe he’d do that.”
