Magic Name: Arcane Fate Magic
Magic Type: Primary Faith/Auxiliary Requip Magic
Description: This magic was initially acquired when Fortunita was inflicted with a Primordial’s curse which was meant to transform her into a mockery of life. The curse worked by absorbing the aura of the environment in which it had been cast. In Fortunita’s case, she was to be taken to a place of death and decay, after being inflicted with the curse, with the intention that the negative auras absorbed would warp her body and mind into some abomination. However, by some twist of fate, the Primordial was struck down, and Fortunita ended up absorbing the essence of the Primordial. With the realization that she is the Chosen of Arcanos, this magic has evolved further into something more powerful, drawing power from the massive amount of magical energy generated by her soul, as well as her faith in the power of Arcanos, god of magic.
Nita’s Primordial essence allows her to cast spells based on the cycle of fate, whose domains are creation, preservation, and destruction. Nita’s aspect of creation is Desire, her aspect of preservation is Knowledge, and her aspect of destruction is Strife. As such she can cast spells that revolve around these domains. To cast a number of her spells, Nita manifests black, arcane cards with which she casts them; a fitting theme, as cards are considered to be governed by Fortune and Chance. These cards do not only serve as conduits for her spells; as a plot device she can summon cards with messages on them, or use them to perform other mundane activities. Nita also has access to the Primordial’s cosmic store in the Interdimensional Sea (an aspect of the infinite, all-connecting dimension sometimes referred to as the Void), allowing her the ability to fetch things from the store via the use of her cards, or move to and from it to any unrestricted place in the universe. Anyone who can detect something of the nature of spells will note that Nita Fortune’s magic is of a celestial/holy nature.
Extra Info:
- Due to her Lineage, her Primary Faith benefit gives her 8, as opposed to 6 extra effects that may be distributed to spells and abilities with this magic type.
- One extra Signature spell, 5 extra normal spells, 1 H+ rank extra spell, and 1 S+ rank extra spell from her Lineage
- 5x spell slots purchased here.
- Aspect of Desire: Nita possesses a divine body, allowing her unnatural health and vitality. This reflects as a 60% increase to MP, as well as a 5% buff to HP regen, and a 50% reduction to debuff effects (1 Faith effect used).
Plot Flavor: Nita is considered rather beautiful (or at least well-designed) by most sentient creatures, even if they are not attracted to her. She is almost immune to natural weather effects, her divine form recovers quickly from damage and regenerates perfectly from injuries over time, and she is very healthy, rarely falling sick and naturally very resistant to toxins (alcohol included). - Aspect of Knowledge: Nita possesses a divine mind, allowing her uncanny percipience and knowledge assimilation. This reflects as a 60% increase to MP, as well as a 5% to MP regen, and a 5% buff to HP regen (1 Faith effect used).
Plot Flavor: Nita has an automatic psychic field surrounding her and extending for up to 10 meters away from her. She can easily sense anything, including residual magic effects, within this field without expending any effort, though she can be distracted enough to miss events in the field, just like someone may be distracted from gaining sensory knowledge of an event well within the range of their senses. By concentrating, Nita can sense whatever is taking place in detail within her Magic Sensory range. She can also create telepathic platforms on which to discuss with people within this range. The choice of inclusion or exclusion of participants on the platform is subject to Nita’s will. Finally, by touching a person or object, she can get a reading of the person's/object’s history (PCs, player owned and event items and characters require OOC permission to be read). Nita is unwilling to use this psychometric ability on the dead, as she may experience the pain that led to the corpse's demise. The undead are even worse, as she would receive a rather painful psychic backlash from touching the unholy essence of an undead soul. - Aspect of Strife: Nita possesses a divine soul, and is effectively immortal. She is also more difficult than normal to defeat or restrain. This confers on her a 60% increase to MP. Also, this difficulty to restrain reflects in the fact that she has a 50% resistance to immobilization effects; she instead has her base speed debuffed by 50%. She also has a 5% buff to HP regen (1 Faith effect used)
Plot Flavor: Despite her unimposing physical size, Nita's presence tends to draw attention. Also, she exudes an aura that unconsciously influences those of others. What this means is that she is very persuasive, and by communicating, can elicit in most sentient creatures whatever reactions she intends to. Stronger-willed creatures (PCs, PC-controlled NPCs and Event NPCs) are not so easily swayed, though.
- Plot Ability:
- Nita's magic, when it is not cast by communing with the divine, takes the form of black cards, which she can use, not only for spells, but for a wide list of versatile activities (these cannot affect combat in any way, aside what is documented in her spells). Also, Nita, due to her connection to the Primordial’s cosmic store in the Interdimensional Sea, can create portals to and from the cosmic store with her cards, which is actually an interdimensional spacecraft called an Ark, by throwing a black card, which expands to form a two-dimensional rectangular portal of varying dimensions, the largest being 20 x 10 m. By entering this, she can travel to her Ark, or just about anywhere in the universe she desires to go, as long as there are no restrictions on teleporting there. She can also leave the portal open for others to go through, or take them along (OOC permission is required for PCs, PC-owned NPCs and Event NPCs).
- Ark details:
Nita's portals tend to look like pools of strangely colored water, and entering them feels and looks for all intents and purposes like one is submerged in water, though breathing and talking are not a problem. Gravity is in whatever direction one chooses to swim. This "water" quickly rolls off anyone who exits this interdimensional space, and evaporates; in about ten seconds, they are completely dry. It is believed there are other things in the interdimensional sea; as a matter of fact, the longer one spends in it, the more one feels like they're being watched by a malevolent entity, and forms seem to take shape in the distance, imperceptible but menacing. From within the interdimensional space, Nita's Ark resembles a glowing sphere of about a marble's size, and Nita is the only one who can find it (or rather summon it to herself) in the endless interdimensional sea. As Nita touches the marble, it expands around her to form what looks like a huge ornate library, with a large glowing globe in its center. The books are illegible, and to leave the Ark, Nita will touch the globe, causing the Ark's world to recede back into the little marble. Only Nita, and those she allows, are permitted to enter and exit the Ark. Once back in the waters of the interdimensional sea, Nita can create another portal leading out and wherever she wants to go. The portal can form anywhere and in any orientation, except within a solid object, and once one leaves the portal, the gravity of wherever they emerge will reign.
