-Capital Crocus-
Walking into Capital Crocus while wearing her new Halloween costume, Victoria had dressed up as a character from the first Malevolent Tenant video game. The brunette's original plan was to wear her costume from a couple of years ago, but her uncle shot the idea down because the outfit was not modest enough for his taste. Realizing that his stance stood the risk of leaving Victoria without a costume if he did not offer an alternative acceptable to both Sheridans, Lawrence had went to the trouble to find a professional costume maker to create the new costume. The costume maker had demanded a high fee for creating an accurate costume on such short notice, but Victoria had gladly paid it so that she could attend the Halloween party in style.
The finished costume consisted of a blue beret, large blue shoulderpads, black fingerless gloves, a blue short-sleeved shirt, and blue jeans with black boots. Aside from the minor issues of Victoria having green eyes instead of blue and having hair that was a lot longer than the hair of the character she was supposed to be dressing up as, Victoria's outfit was close enough to the source material that only devoted Malevolent Tenant fans would be able to recognize any flaws in it. She even had a toy 9mm handgun with a bright orange safety tip in a holster on her right hip for the sake of completing the costume. The costume was custom-made for Victoria; as a result she could move about in it without any trouble whatsoever. She could barely feel the large blue shoulderpads as she walked around the city.
Speaking of the city, Victoria admired the extent Capital Crocus had went to to decorate for Halloween. Festive lights were strung up everywhere, but they were spread out just enough to get the full decorative effect without all of them being concentrated in one place and looking too busy. Some buildings had cobwebs hanging in their windows and on the doors. The brunette was of the opinion that the city had decorated properly without going overboard.
The costumes she saw varied considerably. People were wearing old Halloween standbys like vampires, zombies, mummies, werewolves, witches, and other classic costumes, but she also noticed quite a few younger people dressing up as anime characters. She saw a blue-haired young woman dressed as Kaede from Fortunate Meteor in the crowd following signs that pointed to the Punch Sampling Stand. Wanting some punch before she really got involved in the festivities, Victoria did a perfect right turn and fell in line behind a long-haired blonde dressed in a "hot nurse" costume and a black-haired man with black-rimmed glasses dressed in a strange futuristic orange armor and carrying a hard plastic crowbar who were heading for the Punch Sampling Stand as well.
-At the Punch Sampling Stand-
Victoria arrived to find that the punch stand situated on a busy side street off of the main road. The stand was surprisingly popular. She counted twenty people standing around it with at least fifteen more lining up behind her. After the nurse and the orange-armored man had gotten their cups Victoria walked up to the stand and received a clear plastic cup of punch from an older woman dressed as a witch complete with black dress and pointy black hat. Victoria thanked the vendor and walked off to a clear area to the right of the stand and leaned against the wall.
When she took a drink of the punch the beverage had a pleasant fruit punch taste with lime as the dominant flavor. Victoria hung around the area and finished the punch before tossing the empty cup inside the proper trash receptacle. Once she had discarded the empty cup she waited for group of costumed partygoers to go ahead of her before she left the area behind to partake of more activities. She wondered what kinds of activities the party had to offer, but the only way to find out was to go deeper into the city and see for herself.

-Deeper in Capital Crocus, twenty-five minutes later-
Having finished the surprisingly tasty Halloween punch, Victoria was still tasting a pleasant hint of lime when in the course of her hunt for more activities to participate in she spotted a stand offering free buckets for "Trick-Or-Treat Street." Approaching it without having any real idea what the activity was, Victoria approached the stand and got in line behind a little blonde girl dressed as a princess and a young adult blonde woman dressed as a pop idol. They walked away holding pink and purple plastic buckets with a smiling jack-o-lantern face on the front. In front of her was a black-haired young woman dressed as an archaeologist; she wore a khaki shirt and khaki shorts with brown boots and black-rimmed glasses on her face.
After the archaeologist walked away from the stand with a blue bucket emblazoned with the silhouette of a ghost on the front Victoria approached the stand. She was offered a green plastic bucket with the face of a vampire bat on the front by an older man dressed as Dracula. Victoria took it, thanked the man, and followed large groups of other party-goers looking to partake in Trick-Or-Treat Street. Since she had no idea what it involved, she would watch the other participants to learn how to do the activity.
Following a group down a specially marked street festooned with signs, Victoria looked around her and spotted immaculate white houses decorated with all kinds of Halloween lights and decorations. The streets were well-lit and immaculately clean. It looked like Victoria was in one of the nicer neighborhoods of Capital Crocus, which was fine by her. That meant that crime was not going to be an issue.
Unsure what to do, Victoria stood back and watched as a group of party-goers approached doors, knocked on them or rang the doorbell, and shouted "TRICK OR TREAT!" when the door was opened. The party-goers were rewarded with candy delivered right into their buckets. They then moved on to the next house down the row to repeat the process.
Victoria watched the process with an awe that was not appropriate to someone her age. She wished that she could have done this as a child so that one night a year she would have something to eat without having to scrounge through filthy trash cans even if that something to eat was just candy. Victoria thought back to her past and felt sad.
Shoving her sadness aside, Victoria mustered up the courage to walk up to a white door with a black bat hanging from a string and knocked on it. The door opened to reveal a kindly old woman wearing a black dress and pointy black hat.
"Trick Or Treat!" Victoria said. The old woman smiled at her and dropped a fistful of fun-size packages of chocolate candy into Victoria's bucket.
"Thank you!" Victoria thanked the old woman and walked away with her prize. She then went to the house across from it and walked past a quartet of skeletons sitting on a blanket spread on the lawn having a picnic to reach the front door of the house. Victoria rang the doorbell and a middle-aged red-haired man dressed as a knight wearing full plate mail opened the door with audible clanking.
"Trick Or Treat!" Victoria said. He smiled at her and deposited a handful of fun-size packages of rainbow-colored candy into her bucket.
"Thank you!" Victoria thanked the man. He nodded and shut the door, leaving Victoria to continue her tour of the neighborhood and get more candy.
-Twenty-five minutes later-
Having just finished visiting the last house in the neighborhood marked for Trick-Or-Treat Street, Victoria was walking back towards the exit of the neighborhood with a bucket overflowing with candy. She had visited twenty houses and had been given considerable amounts of candy. The residents of the neighborhood had been so generous that Victoria's bucket was overflowing and she was having to eat pieces of candy as she walked to keep it from spilling out onto the ground. Maybe she should share some of her bounty with other party-goers.
Then she thought about it a little and nixed the idea.
Nah.
Let them get their own candy.
Having decided to give in to greed on this night, Victoria kept all the candy for herself. She merrily ate pieces of chocolate candy called Alphabet Pieces. They were small round pieces of chocolate candy with various letters of the alphabet on their surfaces "printed" in white. They were pretty good and Victoria had received a lot of fun-size pouches of them, so there was plenty of candy to eat and get the greatest sugar high of her life. As if that were not enough, she also had other brands of candy that she was going to try later tonight.
Exiting the neighborhood to let other people have a chance at getting some candy, Victoria walked through the city in search of another activity to do.

-Outside the Fortune Teller's tent, twenty minutes later-
Having finally eaten enough candy to be able to carry the bucket without any of its cargo threatening to spill out, Victoria was on a hell of a sugar rush. She had eaten so much chocolate candy in the last twenty minutes that she felt like she could run back home with plenty of energy to spare. It reminded her of the time she had first tried Motor City Nitro in Motor City at Dr. Reid's laboratory. She was pretty sure that Florence would give her nothing but grief for eating so much candy, but tonight Victoria did not care.
The candy was good.
It was not good for her, but what was? Even though she had cut down on her alcohol consumption, Victoria's lifestyle was still not the healthiest. She still drank soda with every meal, she still ate a lot of take-out food, she still fought against cultists and other dangerous enemies, and she still took the most dangerous and most lucrative jobs she could find. With all of those factors working against her Victoria doubted that she would live to see thirty, so she might as well have some fun while she could.
Now Victoria was standing outside the Fortune Teller's tent and wondering if she should give that a try. She had never had her fortune told before. She was pretty sure that her uncle would call fortune telling a load of nonsense, but he was not here to give his opinion or to keep Victoria from getting her fortune told.
Victoria looked at the small rectangular tent that was decorated with alternating black and orange vertical stripes running down the sides, two plastic skeletons flanking the tent flap that led in, and a large crystal ball at the top. It was a basic but functional design that gave potential patrons a good idea of what to expect. Victoria, not entirely sure if she wanted to give it a try, waited a few minutes to see if anyone else went in. When no one did the brunette began walking towards the tent and went in, carefully moving the flap so that she did not knock off her blue beret.
-Inside the Fortune Teller's tent-
Victoria walked into the tent to find a thin, white-haired old woman with bright blue eyes wearing black robes sitting at a circular table in the center of the tent. In the middle of the table was a crystal ball the size of a human head sitting on a small golden pedestal. The inside wall of the tent was adorned with all manner of gold and silver symbols that Victoria did not recognize and the room was lit with old-fashioned wax candles that were black and orange. The fortune teller smiled at her and raised her right hand in a gesture of welcome.
"Welcome, young one. Are you here to get a glimpse of your future?" The fortune teller asked Victoria.
"Yes, please." Victoria answered. The woman gestured towards the empty seat in front of her and Victoria sat down, then faced the older woman.
"Excellent. Now, let us begin without further delay." The fortune teller said. She closed her eyes and held her hands over the crystal ball. The room went dark as all the candles went out simultaneously. Within seconds the crystal ball began to glow white and Victoria saw four shadowy figures of varying heights followed by a brief glimpse of the outside of her home. Then Victoria saw herself, Lawrence, and Laura standing with the four mystery figures.
"Oh! The future brings good tidings for you, young one!" The woman told Victoria. Maybe those images meant that Victoria would not die of alcohol poisoning or at the hands of angry cultists.
"A family that was separated by tragedy will be made whole again." The woman informed the brunette of the meaning behind the images she just saw. Victoria blinked as the images repeated in sequence and ended with a new image of her, Lawrence, and Laura sitting at the kitchen table with the four figures and smiling.
"I cannot tell you their names because I cannot see that far into the future, but I can tell you this much. They will return to you and your family will be reunited." The fortune teller said with certainty. Moments later the candles were lit again and the crystal ball was no longer glowing. Victoria was not sure what to make of what she had just seen.
Maybe it was all smoke and mirrors with no substance. Maybe it was true and the fortune teller really could see into the future. Victoria had no idea, but if there really were other Sheridans out there, it would be interesting to meet the other members of her family. Maybe she had older brothers or sisters who knew what her parents were like.
Victoria pushed the chair back, stood up, and pushed the chair back in. She then looked at the fortune teller.
"Thanks for telling my fortune." Victoria thanked the woman despite the former's doubts about the accuracy of the fortune. The old woman smiled.
"You are welcome, young one. Now go and enjoy the rest of your evening!" The fortune teller bade her. Victoria waved goodbye and left the tent to see what else she wanted to do before calling it a night and heading home with her bucket of candy. She did not know if Lawrence or Laura liked candy, but she would find out the moment she got home with her bucket of sugary loot from Trick-Or-Treat Street.
