Post by Victoria Sheridan 12th July 2020, 9:02 pm

-Outskirts of Capital Crocus, early evening-

Wearing a simple green t-shirt, black skirt, and white tennis shoes, Victoria got into the long line of a mix of people in rave gear, cyberpunk attire, and more casually dressed party-goers snaking into the outskirts of Capital Crocus. There she got in line behind some blonde chick in a white tank top and dangerously short black miniskirt kissing a brown-haired chick in a black tube top and short blue jean shorts. Both of them smelled like alcohol, the cheap kind that one drank just to get a buzz. It smelled like they had been drinking cheap beer before they decided to go to the Urban Nights party.

    Lightweights.

Victoria had drank a fifth of Albino Gander vodka and was not feeling a thing. That meant that she was sober enough not to do anything stupid that would drag Sabertooth's name through the mud and get the Rune Knights on her case. Since this event was sanctioned and sponsored by the Magic Council, the Rune Knights would not be too quick to dispense a sanctimonious speech if Victoria drank a bit too much... not that that would happen.

Three cheers for a high alcohol tolerance built up thanks to her adopted father introducing her to vodka.

The brunette was not sure if she should be proud of that, but a high alcohol tolerance definitely had its uses. For one thing, she could drink a lot of macho men under the table and win a few bets for some extra money whenever Jewels got tight. For another thing, she could drink whatever was offered at the party and remain upright to partake in the festivities. Speaking of festivities, she could already hear the music pounding from the town outskirts. It was a mix of electronic, dubstep, and other music fitting for a party called "Urban Nights." Up ahead they were even passing out glowsticks to attendees.

Victoria already liked the look of this party. She liked the music, the costumes, and the glowsticks that were in abundance. This party was interesting enough to make being in Capital Crocus tolerable.

The line began to move forward at a surprising pace and eight minutes later the kissing couple ahead of her separated long enough to get their entry stamps and choose the color of glowsticks before holding hands and getting lost in the crowd. Victoria shuffled forward and was spoken to by a young woman with rainbow-colored pigtails and pink cyberpunk gear.

"Hi sweetie! Welcome to Urban Nights in Capital Crocus! What color of glowstick would you like?" The young woman asked, holding out a wide assortment of glowsticks in a large variety of colors for Victoria to see. Victoria looked through them until she found a green one, then claimed the green glowstick.

"I'd like green, thanks." Victoria answered. She held onto it with her left hand and was given an entry stamp on the back of her left hand.

"Have fun at the party!" The young woman wished Victoria. The brunette nodded and made a beeline for an outdoor bar where drinks were being dispensed. It was roughly 125 meters from her current position, but she wanted to see what kind of alcohol the party had before the outdoor bars got too busy for her to get a drink. Any party worth its salt had to have some good drinks on tap.

Post by Victoria Sheridan 13th July 2020, 9:06 pm

After waiting around ten minutes for a small crowd around one of the bars to disperse, Victoria finally shuffled up to the polished wooden counter and raised her right index finger to get the bartender's attention. He was busy mixing a drink for a female customer to her left, a red-haired young woman in a silver bodysuit with functioning electric blue electronic lines running down the sides of her arms and legs and what looked like Night Vision Goggles with green lenses perched on her head. The redhead looked like some kind of futuristic super soldier or a futuristic spy wearing a fancy suit with special abilities. She took a tall glass filled with a bright pink drink and nodded to the bartender, then took a drink from it and flashed a thumbs-up.

She chugged the remainder of the drink with practiced ease and gently set the glass on the counter before walking towards a green-haired young woman in a black bodysuit with red trim on her torso and the sides of the legs and a black and red headset on her head to give the look of a cyborg. Once the redhead had finished her drink the green-haired young woman stamped the back of her left hand with a rainbow-colored smiley face and the redhead went on her way. The bartender then turned his attention to Victoria, who was so interested in the redhead's costume that she did not mind the wait. Victoria kind of wished that she had dressed up in a costume, but she did not know that the Urban Nights party would feature people in "cyberpunk" attire.

"What'll ya have?" The bartender asked, jerking a thumb towards a list of beverages hanging on the wall behind him. They all had weird names and no list of ingredients, so Victoria was flying by the seat of her pants here. That was how she lived her life, so that sensation was nothing new.

"I'll have a Sloth Toddy, please." Victoria replied with the name of her selection.

"I've got you. It'll be just a couple a' minutes!" The bartender, a man with short black hair dressed in a black trenchcoat with black pants and a black long-sleeved shirt, bade Victoria. He was wearing black-rimmed glasses and an earpiece that glowed blue and the exterior of his trenchcoat was lined with cerulean lights to give the impression that his trenchcoat was augmented with some high-tech modifications. Victoria nodded and let the bartender fix the drink and only two minutes later he handed it to her.

"Here ya go. Try this!" He said. Victoria obliged him, picking up the tall glass of lavender drink with glowing cyan ice cubes. Victoria took a sip and found that the drink had a faint but pleasant licorice taste. Putting the drinking skills she had learned from Lawrence Sheridan to good use, Victoria chugged the rest in about forty seconds of sustained drinking. She gently set the glass down and spoke to the bartender.

"That was a pretty good drink. Thanks, mister!" Victoria thanked the bartender for his unorthodox but surprisingly good choice. The bartender nodded and went about his work of slinging drinks for the party-goers. As a bartender herself, she understood that there was seldom a slow moment during rush times and left him to do his thing without asking the name of the drink or the recipe. Soon after Victoria left the bar to wander the block party the green-haired young woman in the red and black armor approached Victoria.

"I see that you were served the Sloth Toddy. You drank it like a pro!" The young employee said to Victoria, who gave a slight smile. The young woman stamped the back of Victoria's left hand with a rainbow smiley face and Victoria thanked the young woman. Victoria moved on and began to wander the block party looking for the next interesting activity to take part in. She was starting to feel so mellow and relaxed that she was glad that she had been served only one Sloth Toddy. If she had had a second round someone would have to carry the brunette around for the rest of the party.

Victoria liked this party more and more by the minute.

Party In Capital Crocus Empty Re: Party In Capital Crocus

Post by Victoria Sheridan 20th July 2020, 1:08 pm

Now feeling the full effects of the Sloth Toddy she had chugged earlier, the happy brunette was meandering through the party area when she began to walk towards the center of a dance floor... er, dance square. It was ringed with people dancing or trying to dance and Victoria was heading for somewhere else when a pair of female dancers who looked to be twins with blonde hair and blue eyes with shoulder-length blonde hair up in ponytails stepped in front of her. They wore matching clothing consisting of a light blue t-shirt, navy blue track pants with three stripes running down the sides of the legs, and black-and-white tennis shoes of an older vintage stepped in front of her and barred the way forward.

"You stepped onto the dance floor! You know what this means, right?" The left twin asked Victoria. The brunette blinked.

"Um, dance off time?" Victoria asked innocently.

"You've got it!" The girl on the right replied with a smile. Victoria blinked. What had she gotten herself into this time?

"Oh Hell." Victoria muttered to herself once she finally realized what was going on. She could not believe her bad luck. She had just walked onto the dance floor and according to the rules of the street, she had to accept the challenge. The brunette was not much of a dancer, but she was in her home city and she could not back down.

A new electronic beat started and Victoria backed away two meters as the twins began to dance with some pretty good street moves. They included a lot of spinning, backflips, and other fancy moves performed in unison and performed pretty close to the beat of the music, but not perfectly. That was the brunette's only saving grace because these guys had a good grasp of the basics and enough confidence to try more advanced tricks.

The twins danced until the music had finished. Applause rang out for the twins and they smiled in unison. One of the twins stepped away while the other twin approached Victoria.

"Can you step up to the plate?" She asked Victoria, then walked away. A new electronic music track began and the blonde backed off to give the brunette room to do her thing, which was going to be a challenge. The Sloth Toddy was not going to make this easy... when combined with the fifth of vodka she had drank before going to the party the brunette was going to be slightly off. Oh well.

The electronic music started and Victoria started off with a few basic moves done to the beat in time to the music to build steam, then performed a one-handed backflip, then hopped back to her feet and performed a few more basic moves until she heard the buildup for the bass drop. She then performed a full backflip and landed on her feet, then almost immediately launched herself up and arced backwards into the air like a mortar shell.

Victoria landed squarely on her shoulders at the exact moment when the bass dropped and hopped back to her feet without slowing down for a moment. The crowd was amazed by the timing and began to clap for Victoria, who kept to basic moves the rest of the time until the music stopped. The brunette felt like she had pulled out a draw in a situation where by all rights she should have been beaten soundly. The twins approached Victoria and spoke to her.

"Not bad, not bad at all." One of the twins said to her.

"They weren't perfect moves, but you definitely stepped up to the plate! I'm impressed!" The other congratulated Victoria on holding her own. The brunette smiled and acknowledged the compliments her opponents had paid her.

"Thanks. You guys are pretty good too." Victoria acknowledged the fact that by all rights she should have lost. Wearing a skirt was not the brightest idea, but in all fairness she did not know that she was going to get into a dance battle. Still, all things considered she was quite happy with a draw.

A young woman wearing pink rave gear with pink hair and green highlights approached Victoria.

"Those were some pretty good moves, lady. I'd say that the landing at the same time as the bass drop put your performance just enough above those two to give you a win." She said. The back of Victoria's left hand was stamped with a second rainbow smiley face indicating that she had participated in the dance off. Victoria thanked the young woman and heard the twins compliment her one more time before they left to go seek another dance battle. Victoria thanked them for the compliments and walked away to go do something else at the party.

She would have to be careful to avoid any more dance battles tonight. She was not sure if she could survive a second one because the vodka and Sloth Toddy had been stirred up by the dancing. Oh well... it was fun.

Party In Capital Crocus Empty Re: Party In Capital Crocus

Post by Victoria Sheridan 27th July 2020, 4:02 pm

Flush with excitement from her narrow victory over the blue-clad twins, Victoria was looking for something fun to do that did not involve any more dancing. She had already eked out one victory and she felt that she would lose another dance battle. She was also afraid that any more rapid movements might cause her to vomit on the dance floor, which was a major party foul no matter what kind of party one attended. The brunette carefully skirted the edges of another dance floor and made her way to a square filled with an electronic track that had stringed instruments coming in every twenty seconds and playing for five seconds before stopping. Victoria looked to the DJ Booth and saw that no one was manning it.

"Hey there! How would you like to be a temporary DJ?" A female voice behind Victoria asked. The startled brunette shrieked and jumped forward, then turned around to find a young female event worker with neon green hair in a black t-shirt with "Urban Nights" printed in rainbow letters, blue jeans, and black boots asked Victoria.

"You mean I can actually go up there? And play a track?" Victoria asked. She could hardly believe what she was hearing. The employee nodded.

"Yeah. Any track, any combination of sounds." The employee answered in the affirmative. Victoria liked this.

"Sure!" Victoria said, making a beeline for the booth while being careful not to get in another dance battle. The crowd was mostly composed of people who were fully drunk or in advanced stages of inebriation, so they would probably go for anything that did not sound awful. Victoria could use that to her advantage.

She would have to use that to her advantage because this was her first time in front of a sound board, let alone one so complex. She had better be careful when playing music for the crowd. Victoria tapped a random button and the electronic track with stringed accompaniment gave way to an electronic track with a heavy drumbeat and backing hi-hat cymbals.

"YEAH!" A member of the crowd shouted in approval. Victoria remained silent. That was proof that she could get away with playing any track short of country music. Now she was going to use that carte blanche to its fullest.

Once the track was in place she began to look for an appropriate nose or two to play to spice up the main track. She pressed a button and got an air raid siren noise that played for ten seconds. She made a note of which button that was and kept it in mind as she looked for other noises. The brunette pressed another button and this time got a car horn... she clenched her teeth and made a mental note not to press that button again.

The track continued to pulse and Victoria found the panel that controlled the lights. She tapped a button and all the lights darkened except for those at the DJ Booth. She tapped another button and pulsing rainbow lights flickered around the booth. Ignoring the bright flashing lights, the brunette-turned-DJ continued to work her magic, finding a button that turned all the lights around the area rainbow-colored. It went well with the Urban Nights theme, so she did not bother turning it off or otherwise messing with it... the crowd seemed to love it, so why fix what was not broken?

Victoria listened closely to the track and determined when the bass drop was going to hit, then played the air raid siren about ten seconds before the bass drop actually hit. Victoria's intuition paid off with loud cheers from the audience. The brunette was pleased with that stroke of luck but decided not to overplay her hand and instead let the track round its course, playing the occasional "laser shot" sound effect to spice up the monotony of the drums. Once the track was over Victoria concluded with a final air raid siren and left the stage to cheers from the audience. The employee who had clued her in to the DJ Booth approached and stamped Victoria's hand with another rainbow smiley face.

"Nice work, lady!" The employee complimented her.

"Thanks." Victoria thanked the employee. The brunette then left the area and let someone else have a turn being a DJ. She had had enough fun for the night, so with green glowstick in hand the brunette made her way towards the exit and for home. She had been in Capital Crocus long enough for one party.
