Volunteers Wanted!

Hello my precious butt nuggets! Mythal and I are looking for some volunteers to help us test out a potential RP system that we are thinking of implementing in some future events. Please do not read too much into this mechanic and how it may or may not be utilized in the future; I would like to stress that this is simply something that we are TESTING and wanting to get some feedback and constructive opinions on so we can determine how feasible it is or not.

Essentially, we want to try running a couple threads as Lore Masters. Our job would be to facilitate the progression of the thread by being in direct control of the NPCs and determining furthering the story based upon the IC actions of the players. Basically, dungeon mastering. I won't get into too much detail about when we'd consider using this mechanic or how it would be used, because we don't want to get too far ahead of ourselves. We wanna see if it works first and what the interest level would be if we could make it efficient, and then we will go from there.

So, the plan is for Mythal and I each to start and run a thread, each consisting of 4-5 players besides ourselves. We will not be using our characters, only the NPCs that we will create for the threads. We would have no control over your characters or the actions they take, though like any game master we would have a say in whether or not certain actions on your part are successful depending on the perceived difficulty of the task and your character's rank/spells/etc. The NPCs will be detailed out beforehand for all to see, much like in events.

Things to Know:

Since there are a finite number of spots to volunteer for these threads, we will be utilizing a double blind system to determine final participants. Anyone who is interested and feels they meet the preferred requirements for taking part is free to apply. You will have 72 hours from the date and time of this post to volunteer. Any offers after that time will be rejected. From there, if we have more volunteers than we have spots available, we will draw names from the selections at random to cement the final players.

Hey there everyone. Once again, thank you for signing up for this test phase of a possible RP system. Its success depends entirely on us, so that we can properly evaluate it and see how well it can work on the forum and in what capacity it could be implemented. So as Seri discussed, she and I will be taking over the roles as Lore Masters. For those that have played Dungeons and Dragons, this will be a fairly familiar aspect as we help craft the details of the world and people around you, whilst you guys get to interact and drive the story. As with any kind of D&D situation, you have a finite but vast amount of options and choices to make that will reflect on your party and how the story will unfold. It could result in extraordinary success or it can result in the death of every single of on you. For your characters, this world is real and has consequences for actions.

As Seri stated before, this is a utilizing a new, pseudo-stat system. Essentially you will not be required to post actions and the statistical data that goes along with it. You will still be using the spells you have available in your most-current magics, just so we, as Lore Masters, can look at it and make decisions about their success, failure and what the fallout of the spell could mean. But don't worry about the ranges, speeds and such.

Touching upon the rules of how strict we're going to be, I wanted to clarify. On a general basis, you'll most likely only need to be posting once per week. The Lore Master will make a post and then it's up to the party to respond, one at a time. We'll give a full seven days time before we post again. If you can't manage to get a post up in that time frame, your actions will be considered skipped and your role in the story will be automatically decided, depending on the situation you are in at the time. If the entire party posts before the end of that week time limit, we may choose to post earlier so that you, the party, get the opportunity to respond based on the results of your actions.

I don't anticipate that your posts will be terribly long, based on how we respond, but that'll simply depend on the situation and how comfortably you are on larger/smaller posts. There's no limit to how many words you need to reach so write as little or as much as you want. But please make sure you are not adding unnecessary fluff. Remember that your fellow party members and your Lore Masters are reading this and we don't need extraneous details put in as word buffers. We may, also, ask you to accommodate other aspects during your posting (such as altering your template so it's easily followed, using a different font if the one you have is difficult to interpret) but I highly doubt we'll see much of that.

We are currently working on the modules for this test event so, within the next few days, we'll have our first posts up and we'll be off to the races. I hope you are all as excited about this as we are.
