Nyla Freudam: A pretty girl with a decent grasp of magic, and an absolutely killer head on her shoulders --at least, that is what she would say about herself, anyway. In reality, Nyla is actually rather dumb. Like, really dumb. For one, simple prospects really excite her: she's easy to please. Just bring her some candy and she will be happy. Additionally, she loves food. She's also a narcissist. In fact, she herself is the only person she has ever been romantically attracted to. If someone approaches her, she will usually just scoff at them, unless they are singing her praises. On that same line of reasoning, she'll get upset if her friends do not compliment her at least once a day. Due to the value she imposes on her appearance, Nyla is obsessed with personal hygiene, going as far as to add a three-day detour in travel just to reach a body of clean water. As for battles, she uses the minimum amount of force needed to defeat her enemy, not because she underestimates them, but because she'd rather not fight at all. She has a "I can't be bothered" attitude when it comes to fighting, actually. As for her magic, she's really not that great; her displays of magic tend to be quite underwhelming. On the other hand, she shares a magic bird with her childhood friend and adventuring partner Nero. The bird's name is Nini. Nini is constantly telling her and Nero to "get it together," that they ought to train, and to do countless other boring things. Nini shouldn't be taken lightly, though. He's a strategy mastermind, excelling in chess. Despite Nyla being terrible as cooking, she likes to think she has a good handle on the culinary arts. Where she fails at cooking (and chess), she excels at information-gathering, especially if it's something she's interested in. And, yet, she doesn't think twice about decision-making; rather, she just makes them. --That's definitely one of her flaws.

With all this normalcy, there was sure to be an exception. This exception was a little family of five; The Regalts. The father, Sylan Regalt, worked closely with the magic council. With his archiving magic he proved useful for cross referencing guild guidelines and things of that sort. The mother, Parvati Regalt, ran a little trinkets shop out of the family home; selling magic knick-knacks that served no real purpose, and yet, brought in plenty of income for the family. The children: Kino, Lola, and Mina were all a couple of trouble makers. Well, the oldest, Kino, was always thrown in with his two sisters for causing mischief, but was not willing to tell on them either. The boy was fourteen when his father was killed by a mysterious dark mage. That had a.. negative effect on him. Parvati gave each of the girls ring to protect themselves. Mina, the youngest, received a weak wind ring, while Lola received a weak ring of fire. Kino had little say in being sent out to the woods to train with a retired Magic Council member and friend of his father's. The boy was excelling at Nullification magic, and spent two whole years working with his mentor, only visiting home from time to time. At the age of sixteen, Kino was being really proficient with his magic! It was a scorching day out in the summer, and Kino was really unsuspecting his sisters to be trying to find him. A dark mage saw their rings and decided to give chase... They tried to defend themselves, but due to the dried out summer forest... Kino was unable to help against the flames. When he ran in and saw that it was his sisters, all there was left in his stomach was dread. He eventually reached them but it was too late. Kino took his sisters' rings and left his mentor in the woods. Seven years have passed of idle travelling, living with Kino's past demons. He sent money home to his mother when he made it, but otherwise tried to avoid contact. The young man was stopping into Clover town for a quick respite and beer, but felt shocked at the young girl claiming she could canoe into the whirlpool sea. Kino had to do something, so he dissuaded her from going, which resulted in her following him around asking for help to get stronger. After a lot of begging on Jacana's part and a lot of ignoring on Kino's part, Kino decided he would guide her to the Silver Wolves, since it was a magic guild that did not do much outright fighting. And so, the two's journey to the Silver Wolves began...
