The old man’s hope of bringing a swift end to this dilemma but it was not meant to be. Looking around, he saw the devastation the attack has already wrought. He had to help the people. Magnolia has been attacked numerous times on account of the guild being there, and though buildings may be destroyed, it is the lives of the people that will determine whether they win or lose. Seeing as how they are already others who had wished to go ham on the biggest dragon, even so much that they were able to send it down, Leo quickly jumped off and took further assessment on Ground Zero. People were still being chased and mowed down by the smaller dragons, and there were those still stuck under debris that helped out magically with the power of his Earth Hammer.
Buildings were already ruble with few casualties that could have been more had others not evacuated already. Magnolia’s preparedness for attacks have improved, relatively speaking. He walked on over to the guild which was nearby, and even as he approached he could tell what dominated their hearts. He saw Nessa blast some fool away while Aven stood beside her, flaring with rage. Now he wasn’t the only raging about. Even the other man who attacked the dragon with the beam to the neck was angry. He thought it looked so bad that they may lose themselves to vengeance and rage, and with Mura still nowhere to be found, no one could guide them forward as a family. As Fairy Tail. To make matters worse, Leo heard a bell hit rock, a gogning sound that was so familiar, he had a brief flashback of him being in front of a crumbling Cardia Cathedral. Briefly, he closed his eyes, sighed and turned around. Unsurprisingly, he once again bore witness to the same event, albeit a version involving dragons. Letting out a deep sigh once more, the old man held his composure, they needed to focus. These are just buildings, he tried to convince himself, muttering that “There is still hope.”
He turned once more to the hall’s remains and approached it as fast as he could. His magical energy being overshadowed by the numerous powerful mages around him that had theirs spewing out made the lesser dragons think he was no threat. Many of the creatures tried to attack him all at once, only to be stopped by a blade revolving around the swordsman, cutting down whenever they got close. He didn’t even keep count, he was more concerned with making sure the children got comforted, as he dragged his hammer across the ground.
When he got close, he calmly begged them “Calm down, children. Please do not let rage and vengeance get a hold of you.” Tapping Aven on the shoulder gently when got close enough to do it. The hammer also collided with a piece of rubble from the hall, and when it did more of the debris cleared out, digging up anyone else that could be buried still. The digging up procedure also unearthed and exposed the statue of one Herro Reyold. He took a quick stare at it and already memories came back of how he defended against other numerous threats to the guild, a memory to the old days to be sure, but that’s what it will stay as, leaving it as he turned his back on it and left it to be a symbol of heroism for people to see while Leo saw to the condition of each Fairy Tail there was.
The man saw that there were a lot of people injured, either depressed or enraged at what is happening. He tried to get their hopes up, saying that it's going to be ok, that they’re not out of the fight yet. However they ridiculed him. Kept commenting in disgruntled voices who he was for suddenly taking charge when he did nothing but drink, and occasionally helping. Leo sighed when he heard these. Immediately he had decided what he wanted to tell these people as he raised the hammer, slowly transforming to a blade with an orange hilt, yellow blade under a dim golden glow with the mark of the guild resting on the hilt. “I am Leonard Dragonbane. For those who do not know what that name means ask those who do know. Just know I’ve been with the guild the longest, and I care for it as much as anyone else, so please listen.” he replied calmly, but sternly.
He placed the Fairy Tail sword on the ground, and it eminanted a warm light, soothing and healing people of their wounds and negative emotions. While he knelt down and grabbed a piece of the old oak doors on the ground. He whispered to it Awake once more, old friend. Welcome our family back home. as he stood up, leaving the sword on the ground to do its thing. The piece glowed a faint orange hue and had an outline of the guild mark as he spoke those words.
“We are still in this fight. They destroyed our hall, not our guild. Again, the hall is destroyed and buildings are built on wood, steel and stone and they -” stopping to throw out his hand that had the door piece, seemingly throwing it aside but was actually putting the door back together with ancient magic cast upon it in ages past, the reason it continued being used through every iteration of the hall while his words rang loud clear and strong as a wall none can topple down. “-can be repaired. Our Guild, our Home on the other hand, is built on bonds and memories. The bonds we share with one another that no one can ever break, along with the memories of those that came before and those that are still here. This is what makes us a family, united against the darkness of this world. And a family first and foremost protects their kin and their home!” The man’s voice grew louder and louder as he continued to attempt to inspire the people with the truth. Something that might be hard to do with a giant screaming dragon wreaking havoc on the background, but he still tried nonetheless. He was already hip deep on his speech that it would be a waste to stop now. “So do not let your fury be guided by rage and vengeance that blinds us to the suffering of those we must protect, but by hope and justice that will save more lives. Because if you stand, the Guild stands, and when the Guild stands, hope stands.” He would go over every member he could, dusting debris off them, picking their items up for them, placing them firmly over their hearts. “And mete out justice for those they have wronged. Because anything less would make us no better than them, and they win if we do that. So rise, children of Fairy Tail. Defend our people and our home!” Some of the mages roared in inspiration as some did go over to help the citizens of Magnolia while Leo picked up his sword and raised it in the air in a battlecry. And in perfect unison, dust from what can only be described as a Fairy Tail guild spell came upon them. Leo smiled a little with the realization that Mura is out there fighting as well, spreading hope in his own way. “Our Master sends us his grace, further proof that hope, that the Guild still carries on! Fairy Tail and Magnolia were attacked before and still we persevere. This day is no different! Fairy Tail will not fall so long as our bond as family is strong! Kill them if you must, but let it be for Justice! For Our Family! For Magnolia and Fairy Tail!” he roared, standing beside Nessa and Aven, looking over to the maiden, and then back in front to the war torn city, adding another line with the same intensity as before “For Percy!” he then found a camera that looked to be broadcasting the battle and looked at it fiercely “Broadcast that, motherfucker.”
The last line sprang the rest of the mages into action, spreading across the city, helping out wherever they can. And though many were taken down by the black flames of the giant dragon, they pressed on, fueled by the hopes Leo shoved down their stomachs as best he could. They were really already fired up, but it was for the wrong reasons in his opinion. How can they manage to save the city and the guild if they were to lose themselves in the process. He just hoped it worked for the stronger mages like Vandrad, Nessa, Aven, Sorano, Martian and others.
Leo himself charged once more towards the dragon and sliced up any lesser whelp in the way as his contribution to those doing crowd control, but not before seeing a beam of light shoot out the sky. Magic that clearly came from Lina amplifying any other mage in her area of the city to help out. The young girl may not be able to fight on her own but she was just as skilled in inspiring others, if not better, to fight harder than they ever thought possible. She did have that effect on him after all. On her view, a few city guards and some mages were all packed up in a bubble of Lina’s making, seeking healing and protection as they got patched up. The young mage herself speaking words of encouragement and hope to the civilians she did manage to protect while leading out of the city. Though the bright eyed girl would be devastated when the black flame of the dragon made its way to their part of the city. And though she wasn’t anywhere near it, she could not bring hope back to them. The magic of the fire was far too great, not only for her, but, in her opinion, even for high ranking healers and just requested big strong guys to carry those afflicted with it outside the city. When the area was clear, he once more took a leap at the dragon and slashed it up near the neck area Vandrad was aiming at with a sword he had called Myth Buster. He had whispered to himself before calling it out on his charge, saying “Myth Buster, reforged from the blade Dragonbane. Earn your name.” And with it, the area he slashed up got him to peel off a few more scales than what he was trying to do earlier. His identity was out now, there was no point hiding his other toys, but he did wonder if there was a way he could erase their memory of him being Leonard Dragonbane.
