History/Story
History: Born in the northern part of a country to the west of Fiore, Xaq didn't grow up knowing much about mages. His mother was a natural-born fighter, who seemed to have her own style. His father was a swordsman who could control small flames, but usually no more than a candle.
When Xaq was about five years old, his village was attacked by a monster using strange magic. Xaq and his parents escaped and ran to a nearby forest. His parents, however, went back to find survivors but did not return. When Xaq returned to search for them, all he could find was his father's memento - a strange, red sphere that seemed to glow when he held it.
Xaq later moved to Selenes, another village near the coast and to the south from where he was born, where he met his childhood friend, Jana. 13 years after his village was destroyed, Xaq sets out on a journey to find and kill the Monster.
The Return Home
Five years after Xaq set out on his quest, he returned to his home - unable to find the Monster. While resting on a log on the outskirts of Selenes, Xaq sees a passing warrior. After talking to each other for awhile, the warrior says that she must move on. They say farewell and go their separate ways.
As she is leaving, the warrior reveals the destruction of Selenes. However, she is puzzled why the soldiers attacked it at all. The alarmed Xaq runs off to his village, only to discover it in shambles. He clears out the remaining soldiers - who were quite weak, apparently - and the mayor reveals to him that Jana has been taken to the army's prison. Xaq sets out to save Jana from whatever fate they have planned for her.
A Friend in The prison
Zak arrives at the prison, sneaking in via the back of a merchant's wagon. As he searches for Jana, he finds three people trying to escape. Only one survived.
Aer Nabaka, an Ex-quip mage that focused on Wind-attribute weapons, had been captured after he and his team met the army while out on a mission. The team fought hard, but the enemy overpowered them. Once his magic had restored a bit, Aer broke out of his cell and freed the rest of his team. They were about half-way out before they were once again attacked. Saying that the prison was too hard to escape on his own, Aer decided to help Zak look for Jana so that they could all escape.
They find Jana in a back cell. After quickly dispatching the guards, they free her from her cell. As they try to make their escape, the warden of the prison, Gurusu, finds them and tries to prevent them from escaping. They fight him, but with Aer's Magic running low, the fight was tough. They soon discover that they cannot defeat him and they run away to a prairie north of the prison.
Escape from The prison
As they run from the prison, Aer gets a cut from an arrow shot by a prison grunt. The three run into a bush to evade capture, somehow fooling their pursuers. They later find a shed to rest in, and Jana covers Aer's wound.
Jana then asks Xaq why he left Selenes for so long. He reveals he was searching for the Monster who destroyed his hometown. His mother and father had left him to help the village, but never came back. When Xaq came to the village all he found was his father's precious memento.
The three of them are soon able to reach the Aer's hometown. They go to Master Albero, the local Guild Master, and report what happened to the group that was destroyed. Two men are beside him. One is Noah, the Master’s historian. The other was simply known as The Man in the Hood, of which little is known, even by Albero. Albero shows his gratitude to Zak for Aer's rescue and return by granting a favor. When Xaq asks about a monster in the northern part of the country that uses strange magic. In response, he introduces Noah - who supposedly knew the entire history of their country - to him. Xaq asks him about the Monster, but he didn't know anything. After hearing this, Xaq asks Albero if Jana could be left at the guild. Albero politely says no and tells Xaq that he is the only one who can protect her. A meeting is held among the guild members while Jana and Xaq go outside to view the city. Aer comes out and tells them they are going to help a team of mages on their mission.
Power Revealed
The party arrives at the location and goes see Kaiser, the Team Leader. Afterward, Aer and Xaq are posted on watch at nightfall. The team is soon attacked by the army that had attacked Selenes. Xaq and Aer fight together to defeat multiple enemies. However, a giant Earth mage name Kong arrives. Before Xaq and Aer could strike the final blow, Kong knocks Xaq to the ground. Before executing the killing blow, the passing warrior from the forest shoots down from the sky and stops the attack, wearing strange armor with wings. She then looks at Xaq, points her saber at him, and says "Wake up! Magic of the Dragoon!" The memento of Xaq's father shines and he is engulfed by fire. Xaq shoots into the sky and comes down as a sphere with two wings supporting it. It attacks Kong and leaves him unconscious. Xaq lands, wearing armor similar to the warrior's, except it was red.
It didn't take long for Kong to awaken and retreat along with two other lesser mages. After Jana comes outside, Xaq reverts back to normal and falls unconscious. The next day, Xaq awakens into an argument between the warrior and Jana. The warrior is known as Rosa, a mage that uses Magic known as “The Dragoon”. Rosa was following Xaq only to see if he was able to use “The Dragoon” as well.
Knowing that Fiore had some of the best and most powerful mages in history, Aer and Rosa suggested that Xaq travel there at some point.
