Munch, munch. Chew, chew. Swallow. Munch.

Magnus chomped and chewed on the large drumstick in his equally meaty hand, his eyes focused with intent upon the door to the building in front of him. It was nothing much to look at, apart from the large writing emblazoned on the front signifying it being the home of the Fairy Tail guild, but it was where he'd be headed to once he'd filled his near endless appetite. Having arrived in Magnolia by some miracle (or, in his own words, "An unmatchable sense of direction!") Magnus had immediately realised one thing - he had no actual idea where he was. This wasn't a big issue of course as all he had to do was show off his muscles and a lady nearby told him that he should head to "Fairy Tail, the Wizards Guild nearby."

(Note; in actuality, he was shouting about how powerful he was and that he needed a worthy opponent whilst flexing and thankfully his sheer size prevented anyone from actually taking a shot at fighting him)

With those directions he had headed this way but, just as he was about to enter the guildhall, he found himself distracted by the unmistakeable aroma of food that he simply could not ignore. But now he was eating, the Chaos mage's mind was immediately sharpened on his goal once more. He devoured what remained of the drumstick within a few moments, dropping the bone onto the plate with a clatter and standing abruptly, causing the other patrons to jump in panic. He didn't notice, so intent was he on his next challenge. He walked down the street to the doors of the guildhall once more and pushed them open with such force that they slammed against the walls on either side.

"FAIRY TAIL MAGE GUILD PEOPLE! I AM HERE FOR A CHALLENGE! WHO DARES FIGHT THE SUPREME ONE, MAGNUS, TRUE LORD OF THE CRUCIBLE!"

Post by Mura Kensho 2nd April 2020, 6:44 am

Man, the guild hall had become Mura’s second bedroom. He enjoyed walking down from his office after a totally legitimate and long day of hard, honest work, finding the nearest bench and just knocking himself out until someone woke him up for something. Kyuken and Zirconis took this time to learn how to play dice games; the lead bartender of the guild’s open bar - where all the spicy, sweet, meaty and everything in between was served - was teaching the two of them how to play a common dice game called Meyer.

The rules in Meyer were simple; two six-faced dices were needed. Two cups as well - usually the cups were specially manufactured for the dice game itself. On top of that, each player had a dice to count their lives. A player starts by raffling the dice between the two raffle cups, and once he’s done so for 5 seconds, he must slightly open the cup above and check what number he got - no showing the other players. He must, after having checked, close the cup and send it to the next player by having one of two opportunities; say the number he got, or bluff and say something higher. About higher, the game is about getting higher and higher rolls, and the hierarchy has roll 1 + 2 and roll 1 + 3 as the highest rolls, respectively called Meyer and Little Meyer.

If they rolled lower numbers than the previous roll, then they could roll one more time and not check the number while sending it on. This was risky, and any revelation of having rolled a lower number results in a life being taken. This was what Kyuken and Zirconis spent their time with…

    “Little Meyer.”
    “Bullshit.”
“It’s a Little Meyer. Cut the crap and open my cup if you really think I’m lying~”
“It’s the fourth time you’re lying about getting a Meyer - *opens raffle* - oh, and would you look at that, you got 63 (not Little Meyer)! It’s still higher than Adam’s roll, you goddamn idiot…!”
“I-I was trying to pressure you! Strategy and all! It’s easy for me to get behind the skin of my enemies, especially in the battlefield! Why shouldn’t it work here?!”
    “This ain’t WARFARE!”
“I-I know, but same rules and all! It’s a-“
“It’s not a game of chess, either! It’s… w-what’s it called again, Adam?”
    “M-Meyer.”
“Yes, Meyer! And now you’re on your last life, so prepare to DIE!”

All of a sudden, the heavens revealed the arrival of a wanderer who must’ve come from afar for the sole reason of meeting them. The man had dashed in and opened the doors violently to proclaim his arrival, and the two ghosts and the bartender looked up in shock. After the stranger had spoken his words of superiority, the dragon ghost cackled.

“Go get Mura, you! He has to see this…!”

Kyuken was already floating above Mura, having transformed half his spirit body into his humanoid torso for a trick that he learned. Dipping his finger into his mouth, the ghost coated it with ectoplasm and drilled it down through Mura’s ear with a joker’s face. The shaman jolted up in fright, and with a scream, Mura was awake.

“…” Poor Mura was shaking in his legs from the aftershock of Kyuken’s way of waking him up. What a disgusting trick he pulled on him. “I-I’m awake, now… huh? Hello there.” The Guildmaster rose up from the bench and approached the outstanding guest who looked to have come from warmer lands based on the tan of his skin.

“Welcome to Fairy Tail. What brings you here, then?”
“He said he wants a challenge. Guess he wants to fight you…”
    “…”

    “Neh.”

A child approaching him was not at all what Magnus had expected, least of all a child talking to himself. The Chaos mage didn't know what to say or do for a moment as he looked down (very far down at that) upon Mura. Magnus could feel the magical power emanating from the boy and he wasn't so ignorant as to not understand what that feeling was. But something didn't add up; this was supposed to be a guild of powerful mages. So why was a kid here?

    -CLICK-

It was like a light had been flicked on inside Magnus' head and he laughed a loud, booming laugh, albeit a wholesome one before kneeling before Mura with a smile "I am sorry! I didn't know this was an orphanage! I was told this was a mage's guild! But as way of sorry, I will perform any act of kindness for you, kid! Just say the word!" His voice remained loud - an unfortunate side-effect of his upbringing - but his tone was earnest and, by all accounts, as friendly as such a boorish man could possibly achieve.

The Fairy Tail Ace was going a little stir crazy at the moment, she had decided since the revelation that Rex was still after her. That she would play everything as normal, she and Markus were waiting for him to make his next move, ready to retaliate ten-fold. But it meant she was constantly on edge, watching and waiting. Fortunately, she practically a professional at pretending everything was 'okay', having gone through several incidents since joining the guild that went unnoticed by her peers. Her signature smile and chatty manner enough to detract from all the personal ongoings that were frequently haunting the twenty-year-old.

So, pretend to be normal. That was the status quo, and what was more normal than going about her usual day at the guild. Doing paperwork and interacting with her guildmates, she was heading down the elevator, taking a tea-break from reviewing the guild's finances when she heard the commotion. The elevator doors open, revealing to her the familiar main hall of the guild, along with a stranger standing in the doorway. Roaring for a challenge, Nessa walked forward, moving over to where Mura was idly chilling with his spirits. She listened to the conversation, and as Mura declared he had no interest in fighting. She smirked, hoping that he would say this. As this permitted her to step forward, greeting the long-haired visitor. She hadn't enjoyed a spar in a while, it might feel good to flex her magic a little. He was a burly fellow, with a deep tan and handsome features. He had an especially wild look about him, not that this phased the girl. As the guy addressed Mura, Nessa suppressed the urge to laugh, throwing Mura a sympathetic glance. As the guy boomed with laughter and kneeled before the boss man himself. Nessa decided now would be a good time to comment,

"That kid is our guild master, and he's actually twenty years old. So, not really a kid. But if you want I'll totally fight you, er... Magnus is it? But not here, can't be wrecking the guildhall. We have training grounds on the roof, we can go to if you're up for it."

Magnus looked from the new arrival who had spoken - a dainty young woman but with strength in her voice and determination to match - and then back to the man-child in front of him. He blinked a couple of times as he soaked in the information the woman had given him; this boy was in fact a fully not-so-grown man? And he was the master of this guild? That suggested that either the man-boy was super powerful, or that the people of this guild were super weak.

This whole situation was perplexing to Magnus but he put it to the back of his mind when the young woman continued to speak - and remembered his name, which was a good sign of respect. But beyond that, this woman was strong. Real strong. He realised quickly that whilst there was some strength coming from inside of the man-boy, perhaps some of that strength was in fact emanating from this woman from the very beginning. He got back to his feet, an excited, almost child-like smile growing upon his face.

"Hmm...I doubt your words but your strength...that cannot be denied. And one of such strength has no need for lies. Very well, we will fight! Name the place and we shall meet in glorious combat that all should see!" he proclaimed as he balled his right hand into a fist and punched it into his left hand, his arms and shoulders rippling with the contact. In the back of his mind he knew this woman may well be more powerful than even he was. And that...that above all else was going to be the most exhilarating part!

... It was clear to see an unamused look on Mura’s face when hearing the strange man’s reply. Orphanage, my ass; Mura didn’t look that young, did he? Then again, it could also be that the taller dude was just dumb as bricks, for Mura didn’t. He didn’t. He didn’t look that young. Nope. Never. He was over 20 years old; how was he going to be assumed for a child? Okay, maybe he was a little short, but the guest’s little, dry joke left a sour taste in the shaman’s mouth.

Crossing his arms, Mura simply pouted angrily as a result. He wouldn’t even make eye contact with the mocha-skinned male anymore, that was how displeased the Guildmaster was. “Who you calling a kid…” he mumbled silently, mixed with a few Midian curses here and there.

Even Nessa looked to feel bad for him given by the expression she sent him. Mura’s pouting only got bigger by that, which ironically made him look more immature and childish than before. What would it take for his body to grow a little more, so people wouldn’t assume these ridiculous things about him, eh?!

In reality, Mura himself was at fault for assuming stuff about people. He often thought that he could read people’s minds just by looking at them, clearly influenced a bit too much from all the detective movies he had seen in his office.

Huh? If Mura remembered correctly, this was the first time Nessa challenged someone that the shaman witnessed, heard and saw for himself. It was an understatement, by all means, to say that she was powerful, but maybe she felt like teaching this cocky dude a lesson about boasting himself like that. Mura wouldn’t miss watching that, so he quickly brightened up upon hearing her words as well as Magnus’ reply of agreement.

“Oh! Oh! I’ll get snacks! Meet me up there!” he told them both before dashing back towards the staircase, helping himself up to his office for some refreshments. Three bottles of orange juice and a bag of chips were taken from his personal storage, which he then brought up to the training grounds up on the roof. He would sit down at the side and open the bag of chips, eagerly waiting for the two of them.

Post by Aven Alveron 2nd April 2020, 11:15 am

Aven soared down from the clouds, shaking the vapor from his hair. For cumulonimbus, they were incredibly wet; he'd have to remember that for the next time he felt like diving through one. His golden wings faded, disappearing into the light of the midday sun as he landed in front of the guild hall. He'd been absent from the guild for quite some time, edging on a worry that he'd missed important events. As an independent guild, there was always the threat of attack, given they had no official sanctioning or protection from the Magic Council.

Pushing open the doors, he was greeted by a familiar sight, and a familiar sound, as well: as normal, someone was itching for a fight, and a boisterous fellow at that. Looking more like a barbarian than a wizard of any kind, the broad-chested warrior bellowed out a challenge, which was quickly calmed by Mura, and claimed by none other than Nessa. Aven leaned against a pillar off to the side of the hall, watching events unfold. In his eyes, it would be rude to butt in after his absence, and besides, Nessa seemed to have it handled fine. She'd taken to the administrative duties of an Ace incredibly well, from what he'd seen around the guild, and just in time, too: when Mura'd taken over as Guild Master, the guild had been in state of limbo, testing the small wizard's boundaries and limits. If not for the efforts of Fairy Tail's Aces, it would've been a very difficult transition, especially considering the respect that Sorano Granon had commanded.

Listening to the exchange, a chuckle escaped from Aven's chest, and a bit of relief rose within him as well. Nessa had grown far more confident over her time as a wizard, but even more pressingly, the young woman was brimming with magic power. It seemed that every time Aven saw her nowadays, she was stronger than the day before. In a weird way, it gave him a level of comfort that he hadn't had before, bringing a smile to his face. He'd reflected for a long time about his feelings for her, and what he'd say when they spoke again, not to mention what he'd say to Markus. However, he'd come to the conclusion that it didn't matter as much what he said, but what he did: and he planned to keep the promise he made to Nessa, regardless of losing the battle for her heart. After all, an Alveron always kept their word.

Stepping forward, Aven joined the conversation, beaming like the sun. "Seems like I've come back just in time for some excitement!" He held out a hand for Magnus to shake. "Aven Alveron, at your service, Magnus. If you'd allow me, I'd like to officiate the match; using my light magic, I can ensure that no one sustains any lasting injuries, so that the two of you can give everything you've got!" He smiled over at Nessa, while Mura scampered off to grab snacks. Aven's excitement nearly matched the guild master's; he'd been wanting to witness Nessa's strength up close for a good while. "Sound alright?"

More brawn than brains (Magnus' intro) RJtajUnz_o

The door burst open yet again but this time, without slamming against the walls. From the street emerged Vandrad and he looked like he’d been through hell and back. The armor and jumpsuit that he generally wore was in tatters; pieces of the fabric were scorched and torn all over his arms and legs and the chest plate was cracked and broken all along its edges. And yet despite the sorry state of his armor, the man himself looked no worse for wear. Onyx orbs glanced about the hall as he snorted, entering the domain of the Fairy Tail guild. There were several people gathered in the main hall that he didn’t recognize, save for Mura, the guild master. And as the Prince of Bellum was not the most outgoing of people, he didn’t bother to greet anyone as he strode up to the main desk and handed in the job sheet he’d completed. He only took a moment to give Mura a respectful nod.

But one of the mages, a pretty boy from the look of it, spoke of excitement. As Vandrad listened in, almost unintentionally hearing the conversation taking place on either side of him, his curiosity was piqued. The talking man, apparently named Aven Alveron, was introducing himself to a tribal looking man named Magnus. From the way he was talking, it seemed that there was going to be some kind of match between the brawny man and another woman. Interested, he glanced over only to find the spitting image of Nessa Cordelia Lux standing there. He hadn’t officially met the Fairy Tail ace yet, having only communicated with her via a job posting she’d assigned to him. But he’d done his research enough to know what she looked like.

A match between a fledgling wizard and a Wizard Saint? Now that was interesting. "Seems worth watching,” Vandrad spoke up, turning to look at the faces of the group. As Mura rushed off, exclaiming something about needing to get snacks, he took a moment to walk over to Nessa himself. "Vandrad,” he said offering his hand briefly. "I’m glad to finally meet you in person. And I’m looking forward to seeing you in action.” It, arguably, was probably the nicest thing he had ever said to anyone… probably ever. As everyone made their way up to the roof, Vandrad took a moment to finish up the proper methods of ending his job.

Then he brought himself up to the roof, taking a place off to the side so that he could watch uninterrupted. Arms crossed and attention ahead, Vandrad had the look of a man in deep, focused study. He hadn’t lied to Nessa; he was more than a little curious to see what she was capable of. And the new guy, this Magnus, was about to get quite the quick lesson in just how strong she was. He was as equally interested in seeing what the tribal man was capable of himself.

Nessa beamed her signature smile as Magnus agreed to spar with her, "To the roof then!" She remarked, excited for a little bit of lighthearted fun. It wasn't often that someone came to the guild purely for the sake of a good fight. For the most part, it was clients and new members. It made for a nice change of pace in the eyes of the Starlight Maiden. Suddenly Aven was amongst them, introducing himself to Magnus and offering to officiate. She shot him a look of appreciation, things were still strange between the two of them since she had started dating Markus. But she was hopeful for their friendship, this Aven's behaviour was a sign that they could return to normal. It wasn't entirely necessary for him to offer, any damage she did to Magnus she had the means to heal and leave no scarring but she understood that he was just trying to be nice. So she said nothing, distracted by the approach of someone else.

It was a man that stood around the same height as her, built with impressively burly stature and sporting a crazy unique hairstyle. He spoke as he stepped over to her, before confirming who he was. Nessa's smile stretched further as she gushed excitedly over finally meeting him, she'd been hoping to bump into Vandrad for a while now. After having heard such impressive things about one of her newest guildmates. "Oh my goodness, it's so good to meet you. I've been meaning to thank you for the work you did with those kids. Since your combat lesson, they've all been so... obedient. Especially Tyler," She told him perkily. Before turning her attention back to Magnus, "Seems we have an audience huh? I hope I don't disappoint!" She remarked earnestly before leading them over to the elevator. She stepped inside, pressing the button that would lead them to the top floor. After a few short moments, they would step out into the training grounds, Nessa scurried across the space keen to get started. With a playful twirl, she spun to face her opponent, placing her hands on her hips.

    "Okay big guy, Let's dance~"

So this was going to be a show afterall.

Almost immediately after the challenge was confirmed, Nessa and Magnus had been approached by another of the guild's members who was happy to referee the match - not that Magnus had any idea what a referee was, but he said something about making sure there was no lasting damage which was always a good thing. He had no intentions of leaving this woman permanently scarred afterall - although he wasn't naive enough to think he'd be able to do so. There was a lot of magical power in this room right now from those interested parties who had arrived, but hers still overpowered them all. Gods if his tribe were here now they'd be on the floor crying!

After Nessa had had a brief chat with a couple of the guilds members - and after someone had helpfully explained what a referee was to Magnus - the two opponents made their way to the roof of the guild. The large 'arena' was perfect for combat - high enough that magic wouldn't blow down any walls in the immediate vicinity, high enough that the people passing below wouldn't get hurt and, most importantly, open enough for the duo to go as hard as they wanted with little to no repurcussions. Magnus watched his opponent prepare herself, twirling on the spot and placing her hands on her hips. "Okay big guy, let's dance."

Magnus smiled in anticipation as he rolled his left shoulder, then his right. "My dance is far less dainty than yours." he replied jokingly before letting the magic run through him, his body tattoos glowing in fluctuating black and white. "But yes, let's dance a good dance and fight a good fight!"

It didn’t take long at all for the crew to make their way up to the roof where the old training grounds were located. Maybe he should’ve suggested the- nah, that was for another day. Right now, Mura was more curious to see how this was going to turn out and how his most senior Ace was going to style all over their honored guest with the fancy tattoos on his body. He was likely going to have his socks blown off… and it was no secret that how Nessa went with this fight would leave quite an impression on Magnus for a long time. It was also refreshing to see her and the rest of the guild in such high spirits nowadays, gathered and having great times.

Wasn’t it getting warmer? The sun’s rays felt like having dipped him in a cool oil, percolating through his tender and moist skin to cause a minor rise in heat. It was starting to bloom in the woods, and spring had officially reached its zenith, inviting the promising light of summer further ahead of time.

Well, Magnus and Nessa had both readied up, so Mura would quickly open his bag of chips and ready his hand to enter. His hand was wetted up with small amounts of water seemingly out of nowhere, and with his magic, he made the water solidify as if coagulating into what should’ve been ice according to normal reason, but was instead clean, pure steel. His hand and fingers were still as flexible as before, but there was a reason why he had enclosed his hand like this.

Picking up a couple of chips and chomping down on them, the shaman would reach the bag of chips towards the nearest spectator as a way to offer some snacks while watching their beloved Ace and their interesting guest exchange a blow or two. “Take some if you want to. It tastes a little like spinaches, but there’s some spice to it as well.” The brand of the bag of chips was colorful and somewhat ‘crazy’ in its nuance, definitely drawing in the kids and all.

… So down at the guild hall…

    “51.”
    “You mean 15.”
    “N-No-“
    “It’s 15. Fifteen. It’s always the lower number…”
“T-This game is confusing! Shouldn’t we play Sudoku or something now?”
“Neh. You rolled a 15… or did you- o-oh, you actually did. Shit…”
“Hah! Now you’re also down to one life! This is my time to shine…!”
“Yeah, good luck now! You clearly got this game under control, so I don’t have to play on your behalf anymore. From now on, we’re shredding blood…!”
“I wonder if this is the same kind of game that they play at those drinking guilds nearby. Those clubs… w-wait, what’s the price? What are we playing for, again?!”
“… I-I just wanted to kill some ti-“

The samurai ghost’ eyes darted out of his skull as Kyuken grabbed the collar of the poor bartender, breathing out of his nose and right onto the dude’s face.

“Fucking hell, Kyuken! Calm down, already…!!!”
“Then why are we playing this game, again?! What have I spent the last 15 minutes on?!”
“You wanna play something else? FINE, PLAY THIS!”

The dragon ghost drilled his teeth into Kyuken’s face, gushing out more ectoplasm and causing a scene down at the guild hall with the bartender witnessing everything from first row.

    “I-It’s alright, Sir… S-Sirconis-“
“NO IT’S NOT! THIS BRAINDEAD MORON NEEDS TO DIE ONE MORE TIME! 600 YEARS, AND HE’S ONLY LEARNED HOW TO PRESS MY NERVES AND FETISHIZE ALL HUMAN BEINGS WITH TWO X-CHROMOSOMES!”

Aven followed the others to the roof, where he positioned himself in between them as they took their places on opposite sides. A bit of that awkward air was still hanging between him and Nessa, though he hoped to clear it a bit later that day, perhaps. That was besides the point, at the moment, however, as Aven's magic power thrummed to life, and he called out to both of them. "Alright, I want a clean fight, no strikes below the belt if you can help it. I'll only be here as a neutral observer; I won't be interfering on either side unless I deem the match to be decisively over. I hope you'll both trust me in that judgement!" After a brief pause, during which he summoned a purple magic circle near the edge of the roof, Aven raised his hand. "On your marks... get set... Fight!" In that instant, Aven disappeared from where he was standing, appearing on top of the magic circle, his eyes now trained on the two contenders.

"YES! HERE! WE! GO!" Magnus yelled as a black and white aura coated his entire body. He surged forward at surprising speed for a big man and was already preparing his next spell to boot; his hands were at his sides, palms facing one another as a mass of black and white magic began to pool between them. He then leapt up into the air and put his hands out in front of him, his palms now facing his opponent.

    "Chaos Blast!"

A bolt of black and white magic shot towards Nessa, its size growing slightly as it travelled. Magnus landed on his feet again, still travelling towards the Fairy Tail Ace but now with his right fist pulled back and ready to strike.

Nessa cocked her head to the side, frowning at his 'dainty' comment. Was this guy underestimating her because she was a girl? Oh, she was going to make him regret that for sure. She glanced over at Aven as he explained the rules of the fight, nodding in acceptance, and as he counted them in she would turned her gaze to Magnus. And then the battle began, Nessa made no move as Magnus launched a spell towards her. Watching him as her starlight magic begin to seep out of her, tiny particles of magic stretching around to form a barrier. This almost invisible barrier of twinkling as his spell collided with it. Taking the full brunt of the damage, meanwhile tears sprung to Nessa's eyes as she looked at him with a strained expression.

At first it began as the curling of her lips, then she releases a small snort before it quickly erupted into a full laugh. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry. It's just I didn't know shouting the name of your spell was still a thing." She said, holding her sides as she continued to chuckle, holding her stomach as she lost her composure for a moment. She couldn't help but find it funny, the way he had came at her with so much enthusiasm. After laughing for a minute, she straightening up. "Seriously dude, points for macho-esque delivery. 'Rawr Chaos Blast!', I really felt your enthusiasm. Okay, okay, I'm sorry, I'll take this seriously. I promise." She told him, suppressing the urge to snicker some more. She opened her palm, creating a single orb of starlight.

"How about some actual dancing." She sent the orb flying towards him, allowing it to twirl around him, narrowly gliding around him but not actually hitting. She wasn't actually trying to take him out just yet, she preferred the idea of toying with him a bit. A bit of revenge for barging into Fairy Tail so brutishly. "Try not to let it touch you big guy, it may look 'dainty' but it sure as hell doesn't feel it."

Magnus' Chaos Blast fizzled out before it hit Nessa, something he wasn't altogether surprised at; he knew she'd have something to deal with it, but this was testing the waters right now. He landed on his feet, opting to hold back on the punch in case whatever had stopped his attack would end up stopping him too - if it stopped his magic outright, would it harm his body? It wasn't worth the risk. Nessa then commented on his calling out of his magic, and started laughing at the fact, even holding her sides. His head leaned slightly to one side - was she...mocking him? His question was answered as she summoned forth a solitary orb of magic, stating that it 'might look dainty' but not to touch it because it might hurt. Mockery would achieve nothing of course; he was above that.

Nonetheless the smile stayed printed on the big man's face as he watched the orb for a second. Moving was dangerous, and Nessa wasn't going to strike him with the orb right this moment, that much was for certain. But he could do something else in response. His legs spread so that they were shoulder-width apart and lowered his hands in front of him. "Aspect of Hell - RAISING HELL!" He pulled his hands up and black spikes shot up from the ground directly in front of him and filling the make-shift arena between him and Nessa, not high enough to prevent them from seeing one another, but just high enough to catch the orb as it brushed in front of him.

"No games Fairy Tail Wizard. Show me your strength."

Nessa would manipulate the orb to dance around, swerving left and right unpredictably. Sometimes it would loop through the air, moving close to Magnus then swerving away in an almost teasing manner. She watched as once again Magnus would cast a spell, creating giant black spikes that rose from the ground, stabbing through the orb. Nessa stared before smiling awkwardly, she sighed realising what it was that Magnus was attempting to do. Unfortunately for him, this wasn't how magic worked, at least not her magic.

"Not a bad strategy, but essentially not feasible against magic like mine. You see, my spells are magic source from the stars and if you stab it well, let me just show you." She would flicker her fingers slightly and the orb that the black spike had stabbed would split off into two. She would frown at his comment, slightly irked by him. She tongued the inside of her cheek, crossing her hands over her chest. "I am showing you my strength. Only a fool uses more energy than they need to, if you wanna doubt me then go ahead and punch it. See where it gets you butthead."

Something about the words had irked her, she was just trying to show Fairy Tails capabilities, her magic potential. But the way he was talking to her, almost in a degrading way, she didn't appreciate it. She had taken the time out of her day to spar with this random and he was lowkey disrespecting her. With a wave of her arm, she would dispel her shield magic, using her own power to suppress it. Then taking a step forward, she would move over to one of his black spikes. "You wanna see my true strength, Oh 'Supreme One Magnus'?" She would hold her hand over the spike, before driving it down on it suddenly. Allowing its tip to pierce her palm, she gritted her teeth, enduring the pain. It had hurt, of course it had, but her tolerance for pain had grown significantly during her time at a Fairy Tail mage, meaning if it meant showing she wasn't someone to take lightly, she could endure this. Her violet irises would meet his from across the arena, she would smirk at him, yanking her hand off of the spike and allowing her own blood streaming down her hand, dripping onto the floor. Not even bothering to heal herself straight away. "Then you're going to have to prove your worthy of it."

So his gut feeling was right; his magic was useless against that orb, as the spikes he formed simply flew through it and left it completely intact. It wasn't ideal of course but it answered the question of whether he had anything in his current skillset to deal with them. But that didn't necessarily mean this fight was a waste of time and effort on his part, not by a long shot. He was considering his options when Nessa began speaking again, apparently taking offence to his words of her not really trying. She impaled her hand on his spikes and the wild man watched blood trickle from the wound she'd created. Not quite what he'd expected, but respectable. The only reason he could think for her doing that was to test his own magic. Clearly she was mostly unaffected by it.

She continued to talk, throwing a taunt his way regarding his title which irked the chaos mage somewhat, but he would let it slide. Taunts in combat were standard, and to rise to them, even in an atmosphere such as this, would be fruitless. So instead as she talked, Magnus focused on how he could get her attention and get a proper feel for her strength - preferably without getting himself completely obliterated. "Prove my worthy? I will!" He would have to be wary of those orbs which meant he'd have to be careful with his movement. But thankfully not all of his spells required him to get close, or even move at all. He placed both fists against each other for a moment, then pulled them apart and six black stones formed in the space created between them. "Purgatory Shard!"

The six shards flew forward towards Nessa - with her shield down she would have to show something else to stop them, or take the full brunt of the hit. Magnus knew full well that she'd probably brush them off, but that was a part of the challenge and therefore part of the fun. He'd yet to properly break through and land a meaningful hit. If he could get even one attack to land on his opponent then he would consider this fight a success.

Post by Mura Kensho 13th April 2020, 7:52 am

Man, Mura shouldn’t eat all the chips this quickly. Maybe Aven wanted some… but the white-haired Gold member had his eyes focused on the little spar happening in the field where Mura was spectating Nessa show her strengths - and by that, show Fairy Tail’s strength - against an odd loudmouth with a taste for combat and establishing superiority. Mura had his thoughts about that… maybe the tanned male was used to being like that. Well, thirst for combat wasn’t exactly a bad thing, but he was up against the likes of the guild’s senior Ace. He would have to stay focused if he wanted to at least leave a good mark or impression.

He started off with a wave of white and black rays of magic being launched right at Nessa as he, himself, launched himself towards her at the same time. The leap was definitely to cut off some distance between them, signaling that he was perhaps used to close combat. He had even screamed out the name of his spell, which Mura used to do back when he was an ordinary member of Fairy Tail… but that was mostly with Kyuken’s sword skills. There was something self-assuring about screaming out the name of your technique; it showed that he put his faith in his capabilities… in a quite aggressive fashion.

Because of the slight familiarity, Mura didn’t actually laugh that much… more so, realizing that Nessa found it that funny caused him to drop a pearl of sweat which he quickly brushed off. Perhaps that was just something to forget, y’know… no more screaming out the names of your techniques.

    “BUYAH! She didn’t even move!”
“Would’ve been impressed if that tanned lad wasn’t so much of a pushover…”

Nessa had decided to play a little, manifesting an orb of pure starlight that twirled around Magnus’ body. It did put more pressure on him as he tried to destroy the orb with black spikes charging up from the ground. The spikes, albeit black in color, didn’t look like they were made of any rock or solid material manifested by ethernano… maybe they were made of, perhaps, black magic? He possessed black magic, too?

Obviously, they wouldn’t be able to stop the light orbs as Nessa just split them up in two with the flick of her fingers. It was clear that Magnus was getting impatient and wanted to see Nessa’s full strength and prowess, but… that would be overkill. Highly overkill. Maybe that was what he needed to realize… or maybe he had already realized it, but he was having too much fun.

Since Nessa didn’t like the way he talked like that, indirectly guilting Nessa for not doing her best or something, she did what Mura would call a ‘pro gamer move’; simply drilling her own hand into the black spike that Magnus had created! Mura spat out his chips in shock of seeing that, because that came out of nowhere, really. He had never thought that Nessa would harm herself willingly to prove a point that he, the shaman and Guildmaster, found very obvious, but props to her. Damn, she had toughened up a lot…

No wonder he was still cleaning toilets.

Magnus was yet still determined to prove himself worthy of her full strength, and he summoned six black rocks between his bumped fists that were projected right at the Starlight Maiden. Taking another look at it, there was no doubt; Magnus used Darkness Magic, often referred to as black magic - however, one shouldn’t mix these two too much… wait, was there a difference? Mura usually interpreted black magic as ancient, taboo magic that dealt with life manipulation of some sort, but he could be wrong…

Her hand stung from the wound she had received, and the blood was an inconvenient mess. She hoped that Mura was okay with temporary stain on the roof as she spoke. She also wondered how Markus would feel if he saw this, would he be impressed? or annoyed? Truthfully, he wouldn't have any right to be annoyed considering how often he intentionally injures himself during battle. But Markus also had a thing about Nessa not taking care of herself properly, perhaps it would be a bit of both. Honestly it was a little more 'edgy' of a move than she normally would have done, but she didn't like the fact this guy wasn't taking her seriously. It always seemed to be this way and for the longest time she hadn't minded this, but surely being the rank she was, and an Ace of Fairy Tail, as well as a wizard saint counted for something right? Sometimes it just felt like her, as well as her guild were frequently underestimated for not being a 'military' faction. It frustrated her somewhat, especially considering how amazing her guildmates were. She really just wanted them to be recognised and to get the respect they deserved.

As the Magnus spoke, Nessa prepared herself, already aware of her next move, honestly she was kind of done with the fight. The issue with shouting the name of your spell, is it gave Nessa, someone who didn't need to do this, enough time to activate her own spell. In a moment, she would disappear completely, in the place of her body she would take the form of a small star. Then dashing at immense speed, she would soar across the space of the arena, flying past the shards, and past Magnus, before reappearing behind her opponent. Returning to her full size, orb in her hand, she would hold it barely centimetres from his skull. All it would take was for her to lean forward ever so slightly and he would be hit with the burning power of her starlight. She had him, she could hit him if she wanted but she didn't want to actually hurt the guy if she could help it. She could have let his spell hit her or even let him win, but that would've been pointless. It was better just to finish it with a checkmate of sorts, so that he could learn from the experience and so egos would hopefully be less bruised at the end of it. "You know, that was pretty fun." She commented with a smile, "Wanna get some lunch?"

Nessa's movements were fast, almost impossible to comprehend for the wild man who'd not seen anything like this in all of his years growing up at The Crucible. She'd moved in the blink of an eye, standing several meters in front of him one moment and then the next he could feel a warm sensation on the back of his head and neck, a feeling he'd not felt since he was but a small child first learning to throw punches.

Magnus had been defeated. In record time for that matter. He could try to fight some more of course, and he had more than enough energy to do so, but that would defeat the purpose of this fight; he wanted to test the strength of this guild, to be sure that this was where he wanted, NEEDED, to be. He'd gotten his answer and his gut feeling about Nessa had been on point; she was powerful. Scarily so. If his tribe met her, they'd treat her as a Goddess. Or, judging by their reaction to him, Hel incarnate.

He could still hear the gentle pulsing sound of that starlight orb near his head, a gentle heat caressing his neck, as if daring him to test it. A part of the Chaos mage - the chaotic part he supposed - wanted to feel that strength. The other part, the smarter part, knew it was a very, VERY bad idea. He closed his eyes and chuckled. "Fun...yes, it was." He replied. "I've not faced someone strong in a long time. Too long. It was fun. And...new."

He carefully, but quickly, moved his head clear of the orb and turned to face Nessa, grinning from ear to ear. "I never knew strong people existed outside of home. To find people so much stronger...I'm happy." he continued. He then nodded in response to Nessa's lunch offer. "Lunch is...food, yes? It is a word I learn only yesterday...lunch..." he mulled the word over in his head for a moment, recording it to his memory before he spoke once more. "Lunch is good!"

Oh shit! The battle must’ve been reaching its climax now as Nessa appeared to have taken form of a small star. The size would make her difficult to hit, and just as assumed, she moved at extreme speed towards Magnus to the point where Mura was spitting chips out of his mouth. In the end of the move, however, she appeared with the orb above her hand, and it was a few hairs close to Magnus’ dome. One lean in, and the orb would likely pulverize his skull…

Yeah, that was likely the end of the spar. Nessa had clearly showed him what Fairy Tail’s most senior Ace was capable of, and the whole reason why Magnus was in this place to begin with was because he yearned for a fight. Hopefully, this would be a lesson to him; not all people wanted to brawl with him as the first thing after meeting him. You gotta have the mood for that at times, y’know.

Lunch, huh… wait, Nessa hadn’t patched up her hand yet. Mura put the bag of chips aside and rose up on his thick sandals before approaching her at a strolling speed with squinting, worried eyes. “Nessa, your hand-“ he informed her to, hopefully, remind her of the blood stain she had dripped on the floor of the roof from her injury. It was kind of reckless to do such a thing to herself, but he knew about the phrase ‘over the top, under the skin’, so Magnus might’ve not been completely convinced of the strength of Fairy Tail if she didn’t pull that trick out. Street cred.

Towards her bleeding hand, he held out his own, right one. A black and purplish aura engulfed his hand, eerie in nature but cool and soothing to her hand as it jumped from his to her in order to regenerate her hand’s injury. It wasn’t instant, but her wound would cover up in about a minute. “…” Mura’s eyes were sharply focusing on her hand for the moment, and he didn’t say anything for a solid dozen of seconds before expressing: “… That should do the trick. I’m better at healing myself, though, but I’m beginning to expand my skills now.”

He would proceed to turn over to Magnus afterwards and nod acknowledging. “I’m sure the staff can prepare sandwiches for all of us. Why don’t you join us too, Vandrad?” Despite talking mainly to Magnus and Nessa - and also Aven who was overseeing them from his summoned magic circle further near the edge of the roof - Mura was aware of Vandrad’s business and how much time he used out in the field, in which he felt like offering a sandwich in these scarce breaks of his was the least he could do at this very moment.

“Guys, GUYS, PLEASE! STOP FIGHTING!” the poor bartender tried to solve the feud between Zirconis and Kyuken down at the guild hall. At the time, Zirconis had Kyuken caught in a headlock with his scaly arms and smashed his head onto one of the tables, but Kyuken retaliated by grabbing Zirconis’ ears and pulling on them both at the same time. The dragon roared loudly in pain and only increased in anger.

It'd been an interesting afternoon, thus far, for Aven, as he lounged at the table with the other Fairies. Magnus has turned out to be quite the stubborn one, but had made a fairly decent showing, considering his opponent was a Wizard Saint. Nessa herself, on the other hand, had been hard pressed to show much of her true strength, so Aven's presence ended up being unnecessary, to such a degree that he was feeling a bit restless. Since that day at the party, he'd thought about a lot of things, including Nessa's strength itself. There was little doubt that Nessa'd been born far more talented than him, considering how fast she'd climbed the rankings, and by professional standards, she also seemed to take to the job more naturally, completing jobs left and right. Just to try and keep up with Nessa, Aven had taken months of hiatus at a time, training himself and improving his abilities, which caused him to wonder: just how far ahead of him was she?

The thought swirled in the back of his mind, as he chuckled at the small brawl going on between Mura's spirits. Aven rested his cheek on his hand, silently chewing a bite of his sandwich. Seems I wasn't the only one riled up by the duel. His eyes flitted over to Magnus, still just as much a hulk of a man knowing his relative strength. There was potential buried under that raw technique, but sadly, Aven had too much going to be the help Magnus needed in that regard. He regarded Nessa and Magnus together, smiling brightly. "It was a good fight, Magnus, you should be proud! You lasted much longer than the bandits I've seen Nessa mow down, and at the start of your Wizarding journey, at that," He took a swig of apple cider, shooting Magnus a wink, "Who knows, maybe I'll want to fight you next."

Nessa beamed as he agreed to lunch, nodded as he asked if Lunch was food. Thinking nothing of his questioning of the lingo. As Mura approached, she followed his gaze to her bleeding hand, allowing him to heal her. She didn't need it, more than capable of healing herself, but it was a kind gesture nonetheless. "Thank you." She expressed contently, the stinging in her hand gone, replaced with a soothing tickling as her flesh repaired itself. Nothing but the lingering blood stain on her palm to indicate she was even injured in the first place.

"Yes, Sandwiches sound great, with a nice cold juice to wash it down!" She remarked cheerily, moving towards the exit of the roof as the group made their way back to the dining area of the guild. Nessa would hastily find a table for them to sit at, and not long after they would soon be indulging in drinks and snacks. As Aven mentioned the bandits, Nessa laughed. "I remember that day, I'm pretty sure I was a little more motivated then. Our little wager over whoever took down more treating the over to dinner, another one of my wins." She said teasingly, in truth she was enjoying this. Being able to talk to Aven once more, comfortably. There had been a strange distance between them lately and she missed her silver-haired friend.

She turned her attention to Magnus, "So Magnus, you're a pretty skilled fighter. Are you a member of a guild?" She asked in curiosity, glancing briefly at Mura to see if he would pick up what he she was hinting at; The prospect of a new member, if they played their cards right at least. Magnus certainly seemed ideal for membership in Fairy Tail, and so far he seemed like a nice guy, albeit a bit confrontational to start. Still, she was hopeful that he might have some interest in the guild, it was always nice to watch the guild expand.
