Some might try to refer to the life she had been pushed into as nothing but a Stockholm syndrome of sorts that had gone array. At first, that was just what she had thought this was going to come to; becoming some opinion stricken weapon to wreak havoc in others names and stuck in a frilly uniform to only impact the idea that she had no free will do anything, even to dress herself in her own choice of attire. When she first met Grim, it was just that. The chip Nightmare implanted in her made her listen to every command and act upon it. Even to think back to having to act like a genocidal cat girl provided her no fun. Bitter beginnings that brought about a whole new person, really.
In time, however, being the subservient maid to the reaper brought her a new perspective. Through punishments and gifts, she saw the light, so to speak. The life she was transitioning into was not as bad as she had thought it to be. If anything, the maid was simply being what she always dreamt of, only under the guise of a different title. It only took the time to see the perspective of her time her amnesia to realize this. Once this became apparent to her as it had, she was willing to put her heart into being a maid for the rest of her life if she had to, or even wanted to. She was still able to help others, though those purposes were almost never for the right reasons, the feeling she got of others approval was something she lacked in her life. To get this now only fueled the starving childish mentality that was taken from her.
With Grim, she was able to feel like a normal person after some time. The idea of moving from a simple foot stool to something more along the lines as a cuddle buddy for the sake of terms was a sign to her. Something like that proved to be what she always wanted; approval from authority figures. And as that time went on, she got to see more and more of Grim for who she was past the veil of death and suffering. It wasn’t until the Halloween party that she’d gotten to see made it clear that she wasn’t just smoke and mirrors. It helped her see Grim for the person she truly was and even piecing things about her from their past together that helped her realize that she wanted to stay that way, or at least in control. Something that recently even she had some troubles with.
It was quite apparent that side was here before the two of them by how she was acting. Normally, Grim was a very sturdy and focused person. Now? She could probably be blown down by the flick of someone’s finger. But all that did for her was make her smile. Nothing out of amusement as far as finding it funny, but it was very cute to see someone as strong and intimidating as she was to act to meek and bashful. Even as they had traveled through the streets, it gave her a sense of pride in her choice to chase her feelings in this way towards her. Knowing there was more to her than just a cold, bloodthirsty monster was what she hoped would happen. And these hesitations were unable to be faked for sure. ”I assure you, it wouldn’t have mattered the choice. But here at least, you’re probably most comfortable, master.” She replied, knowing had she of gone somewhere else, the moments they’d share together might not be the same.
”I miss this, you know. Being by your side. I love the guild and all it’s done for us, so my hope that you are happy with having joined after all has been wavering on me for some time.” Sanguine paused for a moment once they turned onto another road in the castle, turning the red headed reaper toward her, her face brightly lit with a smile a mile wide. ”I just want to start this little date of ours with a thank you. Without you, I don’t know what might have come of me after Nightmare. No matter what, in my eyes you saved my life and provided me with more than I could have hoped for. It doesn’t matter of any other circumstances, but that you showing me this side of you, on top of everything else over these years, I wish to give you something special to me.”
For a moment, she paused. Unknowing of how to really bring this up in the right context, she struggled to come out with it at first, but with a quick action to breath, it came to her. Or at least she thought it did. ”The one name you’ve always called me by has been what they gave me. I don’t want us to start a relationship off of the past. So...” Taking Grim’s hands, she would look right into the reapers eyes as she would continue. ”I would like to formally introduce myself~ I am Madison Anicetus Richter. And if you choose to, you can continue to refer to me as Sanguine, Black Rose, or however you wish. But I felt if I was able to say it, that I would make sure you of all people would know.” Though it felt like little to simply say a name to someone they had known, the circumstances in this case made it much more sentimental to her that she get it out of the way before they would continue on. Much more than that, she wondered if Grim would do the same for her. Of course she knew it, but she wanted her master to tell her, or it just wouldn’t mean the same to the maid.
