Summer had begun its slow decent into fall. Trees that were once green were now turning colours that resembled a fire on a cold evening. Light yellows, golden ambers, bright oranges, and deeps reds scattered around them, leaves of the trees falling and giving rise to a new time of year. The year had gone by so quickly, time passing like a street lamp when driving by. It wasn’t only time that had changed, so had the young female that sat outside a coffee shoppe with a steaming drink in her hands. Aliannah had changed herself, growing from a girl that new little but the life that she lived with Oya to meeting people within her guild, becoming a mentor, earning an Ace position, and gaining a friend that she would never let go.

The girl sat there in the crisp morning, she had already gone for a run and taken a quick shower before heading out the door of the hotel room she had booked for the night. Why was she in Lavanitir Port? Simple, a break. There had been so many things that had been going on that the girl had lost herself in the idea of being busy. This break was needed. Well needed. So here she was, outside of a small coffee shop in her fall clothes waiting for her best friend.

Of course she had invited Elias, the blond had been the one who had been with her throughout the entire time she had been going crazy. She was very grateful towards him. She really didn’t deserve such a person in her life, but she wasn’t on planning on letting him slip from her fingers.

A small, soft smile slipped onto the lips of the woman and she hummed happily. It was going to be a good day. Lifting the coffee to her lips she tasted the fall within her drink, having added cinnamon and caramel to it. It was perfect for a morning like this, crisp and just on the edge of needing another, warmer layer.

Fall by far was her favorite season.

Temperature perfect for passing through lips, Aliannah took sips of her coffee. It heated her from the inside out, making the slightly crisp autumn day feel warm. The girl's indigo eyes skittered around the area, it wasn't only the leaves that were welcoming fall, but the decorations that lined each little shop too. Pumpkins, golden wreathes, strings of fake warm leaves were strewn and tied to each building.

To say that the blonde girl loved the decorations of the port town was an understatement. She would have to return every year. Although she liked the decorations there was something that the girl wondered more, where in the world was Elias? Not that she had set a time for him to meet her, but she knew that he often had the same thoughts as herself and they would eventually meet in the same place.

She had planned on going to the Fall Festival that was held in Lavanitir. She had heard of its colours and of the food and drinks that were there, she knew that she needed to go. So there she was, in said city planning to go to said festival. She really couldn't wait. She wanted to see what mysteries were held in that small place, what fun was waiting for her and laughs were around every corner.

She just had to wait a little longer.

A smile played on her lips as she lifted the coffee to her lips once again.

Aliannah had long finished her drink and was now sitting there with her hands in her pockets and her legs crossed as she looked up at the slightly cloudy sky. She was naming the clouds as they passed and smiling to herself at the calmness of the moment. It really had been a long time since she felt like this.

Her indigo irises shifted from the clouds to the park beside the coffee shop. It was small, nice. There were kids around, giggling and laughing amongst each other as they ran to and fro. It was nice that they had friends, that they had a home. The blonde thought back to the Orphan Sanctuary that she had started back in Tolgalen and thought of all the things that she would bring home to them, things that she would plan so that they would have an amazing halloween.

However, her attention was soon drawn away from them and to the blond male that had approached. She really only knew one person that would approach her, Elias. But as she looked at him, he seemed surprised to see her. Her eyebrows raised in slight concern before they morphed into something that would tease him about not recognizing her.

Of course she hadn’t been able to voice the words before he mentioned the pumpkin bread that he had baked and what she wanted to do first. She would have to tease him later. The teasing smile never fell from her lips as she tilted her head slightly. “I think that we should head over to the festival. From what I’ve read there are trophies that you can win in order to get a prize at the end. We should try our hand at it.”

The girl moved to get up from her seat and straightened out her clothes. “Besides, maybe we can put you bread up for a contest. You might even win!” The blonde smiled as she began to walk towards where the festival would be. It was towards the center of town, something which had surprised the female until she had read that they had magically made room for it.

It wouldn’t take them long to get there, she could already hear the festivities, but she just couldn’t wait to see what the rest of the day held.

Her steps hesitated as she heard Elias’ intentions with the bread. If she had known it was for her, she would have gratefully taken it. But the girl said what she had said and she bit her lip with slight regret in her decisions.

Slowly the festival noises and sounds got louder, indicating that the two were ever closer to the festival. She could begin to smell the things that surrounded them and a smile grew up on the face of the girl. There was popcorn, caramel, pumpkin, and warm apple, dozens of different fall smells infiltrated her nose and filled her with giddiness.

The girl was off looking at small bracelets that she had happened upon. There were ribbon, metal, woven, beaded, but these were not the ones that caught the girl’s eyes. There was a matching pair in the back. Plain leather with a golden and ruby clasp on the front. Maybe they were friendship bracelets. The girl smiled to herself, that would be fun to have between the two of them. A symbol of the friendship that they had developed through the year and through a series of life and death situations.

The girl nodded to herself before she looked up at the shop keeper with a smile on her face. “May I please have the matching pair of leather bracelets you have there?” Her voice was smooth and playful. She really wasn’t quite sure how Elias would handle having matching bracelets, but he would have to deal. He could strap it onto something else if he so desired.

Speaking of Elias the girl hadn’t seen the boy since she had begun to look a the bracelets, but she really didn’t have to look too far as suddenly her hands were filled with a half eaten pie alongside the small cash bag she had pulled out. She really didn’t hear what was going on as she looked between Elias who was seemingly dragged behind a woman who was heading towards what seemed a cooking or baking contest? Oh, maybe he would put his pumpkin bread into the contest.

A small thread of guilt and regret strung the girl where she was for a moment, maybe she wanted to eat the bread. Her lips jutted out slightly into a pout and she looked at the pie she now held in her hands. “I was hoping you’d eat it he said. Aliannah hold my pie he said.” The girl glared at the pie before she took the spoon that he had handed to her along with the plate and shoved what was left of the pie into her mouth, but left the ice cream… surprisingly she didn’t really like ice cream.

“Your pie is a sacrifice I say.”

The girl glanced at the merchant who was now raising a brow at the girl in worry and curiosity. She simply shook her head and reached her free hand into her purse and pulled out the jewels that would be needed to pay for the two bracelets. Without any other questions the merchant put the two bracelets into a bag and handed it to the girl, only after explaining what the two bracelets did. The girl nodded and smiled again at the person who sold her the gifts before walking away and back into the crowd.

She passed by the competition that her partner had involved himself in. Just by a glance it seemed as if he was doing a good job. He wasn’t losing, but that person with the chicken seemed to be wining. Of course this was just by her personal standards. However, it seemed like the competition was far from over. So the girl wandered away again. Passing by several stores and games. But there was one, one that made the girl stop. A man sat on a stump, he was slouched over, but seemingly missing one eye. The girl was curious.

Making her way over to where he sat the girl stopped in front of him. She didn’t say a word but he looked up at her and stared at her as if he was staring into her soul, or was it the soul of the Angel inside of her. The made raised an eyebrow at her expectantly before speaking in riddles. ‘What belongs to you, but gets used by others?’

The girl wasted not time, but she wasn’t sure if it was her answering or if it was the Angel within her. “My name.”

The man doesn’t say anything else but looks at the girl knowingly and nods his head towards the bucket. The blonde looks at him skeptically before she reaches for the trophy, her hands gently taking it from the basket before smiling at the man with hesitation and walking off. She really hoped if the man knew something, he wouldn’t say anything.

With the trophy in hand the girl made her way back to the competition, making sure to pick up another slice of cake on her way, by the time she had picked up another piece the ice cream had been finished off, so she couldn’t ask for more to add to the rest of the slightly melted ice cream that was left on the plate, and rather the girl asked for whipped cream instead. Her feet stopped by the finalist table and she looked at her partner who was seemingly shaking in irritation, which she couldn’t understand why until she saw that the bread was all gone.

Well now she was really glad she had grabbed that slice of pie and that gift for him.

As she watched the end of the Award Ceremony and as Elias received his trophy the girl tried not to laugh at the face the other was making. He clearly didn’t want to be there and he was very evidently watching. So the moment that it was finished at the male was stomping through the crowd towards her.

She bit at her bottom lip and held up the bag with the bracelets and the cake that she had gotten for him. It was honestly quite hard not to laugh at this point.

“Elias! Over here!”
