WOULD YOU LIKE TO MEET THE MONSTER BEHIND THE MASK?
“Oi, Aoi. Check this out.”
A bored drawl seeped out the edge of a blue-haired teenager’s mouth as he fingered the edge of a job request, wearing out the thin paper material with his ministrations. Dark blue eyes skimmed the words as he spoke, taking in the last few words on the page before turning to look over at someone who was undeniably his sister. With a head of shimmering blue hair just as easily recognizable as her brother’s, Aoi looked up from her spot on the bench she was sitting on to see what her brother was talking about.
“Ah man, another job?” The girl shuddered inwardly just thinking about their last one, and that nasty old guy they’d had to work with. The twins were currently sitting in their private dorm, wearing their public faces unknown (to their knowledge) to the guild they worked in during their spare time. Having extremely busy schedules, they preferred job requests to be sent to them via iLac instead of going to the guild personally to receive them. Luckily, their room was extremely secure, keeping their darker identity a secret while still allowing them to relax in comfort.
“Don’t worry, this one’s nowhere as dreadful as that last one,” the brother snorted, tossing the freshly printed paper at Aoi, “we actually get to see some action this time."
“Now you’re talking.” With a small smile, the sister snatched it out of the air, giving it a onceover before snapping her fingers carelessly to summon a servant. “We’ll take it, Aoba.” Instantly, a crumpled red scarf on the ground would spin up into a flurry of sparks, before manifesting the familiar figure of the twins’ “servant” summon – Akano. With a simple transmission of thought from Aoi, the summon would begin dressing her in the familiar uniform of their guild – a very shapeless and very unpleasant full-body covering that took absolutely ages to put on. Neither one was a fan of it, but until they could acquire better clothes, this would be what they used.
“Wait a second, Aoi…” Yet an exasperated comment from Aoba stopped the process, as the more reasonable one of the pair held up a hand. “You realize this will be the hardest job we’ve ever taken on? I’ve called the guild to set up a notice for another mage to accompany us – a higher-ranked one, too. I know you love the action, but you don’t want to die just yet, do you?”
The bluenette’s eye twitched under her mask – it was always irritating how her brother seemed to try and hide behind stronger mages at all times. But if it meant she got to scratch that itch she’d been getting, sitting on her rear for the past few weeks…that would work for her.
“We’re meeting them in Lavanitir Port City. Let’s go – you don’t want to be late, right?”
