    Star of the Morning
Finding one's purpose was something that a lot of people have struggles with. Of course, Isaak knows his life's mission is to rid the world of evil and demonic powers, but that was a very large and very broad goal. He had figured his first step onto that path would be joining a guild. The Rune Knights seemed an obvious choice, as they were a peacekeeping force for the land at large, but they didn't call to him, not in a way that compelled him to set out and join their ranks.

What did, were the honor and the values of the Dies Irae guild. A guild full of people with a like mind, populated with individuals who knew the meaning of honor and the importance of order. Who were willing to do anything and everything it took to rid the world of everything that darkened and corrupted it. They were even lead by a God of Ishgar, Johann von Weiss, one of the greatest forces of good in all the lands. Isaak didn't need much more convincing to pack his things and set out to join the ranks of the guild, he was sold.

So, he found himself in front of the guild hall, adjusting the large pack on his back with more than a hint of trepidation. He hadn't found this place easily. The ship that took him to the island from the mainland had made the wrong circuit, bringing him to a densely forested part of the island. They hadn't the time to bring him to the right port and then go about their way, so he was brought over to land on a small rowboat, then started a trek through the woods in order to get to the port town.

One day, and several encounters with wild beasts later and he was at Amber's lone port city. It was a pretty sight, but none so grand as the guild hall of Dies Irae. It was downright intimidating, leaving a daunting feeling in the pit of Isaak's stomach. The ginger was never one to back down when these feelings rose, however. He allowed himself a moment of panic, of doubt, of anxiety, before he packed all of that away and let his determination shine through. With a light in his eyes and a set to his jaw, he reached out a hand to push open the door that symbolized the possibility of a great future and a new home.

Amalie's slender fingers twiddled the pen between her hands, her ice-blue eyes staring coldly across the room at the nervous nineteen-year-old. A neophyte. Recently recruited and from what the Commander could tell clearly lacking in the foundation that was required of a Soldier in Dies Irae. As a result, he had been assigned to work under her directly. However, as far as this little introductory interview was going, she was less than impressed. The tension in the room was palpable and the poor newbie couldn't have looked more uncomfortable if he tried. Awkwardly adjusting the neckline of his red uniform and struggling to meet her hard gaze. She would drop the pen suddenly, causing the boy to jump. "Joffrey was it?" She would ask curtly.

"Um... actually it's...er Ga-" He didn't get to finish he sentence, because she stood up sharply, moving around the table. "On your feet Neophyte." She commanded sharply, to which he responded hastily, nearly falling out of his seat as he attempted to stand for her. She would move around him, eying him with an inspective gaze. "You're severely lacking in muscle mass, go to the training ground and work on your strength building." She ordered, before moving toward the door. Gary nodded hastily, hurrying over to the door. He would stop and turn to his newly assigned superior. "Sorry Miss... Ma'am... er...Commander West, how long s-should I train for?" He would ask to which her eyes would narrow slightly.

"Until you cannot lift your arms." She responded, before turning and leaving. No longer wanting to look at the trembling teenager anymore, she stalked down the hall, heels clicking against the hard floor. She would need to have a stern word with Johann about this, it was bad enough the boy had been assigned to her, but the fact he was even recruited in the first place was laughable. She wasn't sure what she had expected when the guild had been created, but some of the behavior and mannerisms of her guildmates were nothing short of degenerate. Weren't they supposed to be soldiers? It felt like it had been so long since she'd seen genuine potential in a recruit.

Her heels would lead her towards the main guildhall, she fully intended on getting some fresh air before returning to her duties. Maybe pick up a coffee from the closest barista and sit outside in the sun for a while. She was certainly due a short break. Although just as she reached the guildhall, she stopped, her magical senses telling her that someone was moving towards her. The signature was unfamiliar to the blue-haired woman. Was it a visitor? Perhaps a new recruit? Did she really want to deal with this? Not really. But alas, it was a duty and so she stopped in her pursuit of respite. As the door opened, she would take in the guest's appearance, noticing immediately that he was young. As young as Joffrey. Slightly shorter than her, with bright amber hair and violet eyes. At the very least he seemed to be a little stockier than the other guy, although this only mattered if he was joining. "Hello there, can I help you?" She began, in a slightly more polite tone.

    Star of the Morning
Isaak was busy looking around at the impressive artistry that the guild hall had to offer. It was obviously made by someone in love with their craft, or at least someone paid quite a large sum of money to make the place look as stunning as possible. It was hard not to feel like you didn't belong in such a place of both beauty and unmistakable power. The sudden sound of someone speaking to him was enough to draw his attention away with a start, violet eyes going wide as if he were just caught doing something he wasn't supposed to be doing. Like a child with his hand caught in the proverbial cookie jar.

When he turned to look at the new person, he was struck by her. For one, she was as stunning as their current surroundings. She was beautiful, yes, but her hair and her eyes were striking in such a way that allowed her to surpass simply being pretty. Secondly, she was strong. He could sense it, though more accurately he couldn't sense it. Her power was so far beyond his own that it was like looking up at a massive mountain that stretched far into the sky. He couldn't tell the beginning or end of it, he could only take in the never-ending expanse of power that enveloped his senses. The combination of the two made her seem downright otherworldly.

And he noticed that he was staring. With his mouth open in a small 'o'. Like a bumbling idiot. He quickly snapped his mouth shut and cleared his throat, a light flush rising to his cheeks "I'm sorry for staring, you're just so....fascinating" As soon as he said the words, his brows knit together as he pulled a face "That sounded less creepy in my head...I didn't mean you were fascinating. Well you are fascinating but I didn't mean it to sound like I was a stalker or anything."

The blush on his cheeks deepened as his embarrassment mounted, Isaak drawing in a deep breath and letting it out quickly to try and calm himself "Let me start over" He cleared his throat and gave her a friendly smile, though his blush was still present "My name is Isaak Alvah and I'm here because I want to join the Dies Irae Guild. What I meant by you being fascinating is that your strength is like nothing I've ever seen in person. You're like...a legend come to life...does that still sound creepy?"

She may be no God of Ishgar, but the other Guild Master was one's mentee. A rose-haired young woman ascended the steps toward the towering Throne Hall doors, carrying something round. She was wearing the black powersuit with the red DI symbol emblazoned where a brooch might be, her shiny black pumps clacking with each step and her ponytail swinging lightly behind her. Sivvy preferred this uniform on both lowkey days and tough jobs that didn't quite merit her favored bodysuits, since it was crisp and intimidating, but also allowing her the full range of motion when the situation called for it. Honestly, the slayer looked more like a high-powered executive than someone who had just come out victorious in a life-or-death fight...if not for the blood splattered over her that would become visible upon closer inspection. That was another perk of the black suit; it hit blood and grime well. Her fair skin, however, showed every smear and speck just as brightly as it accentuated her carmine eyes. Every patch of skin showed at least a couple droplets, from the drips on the tops of her feet not covered by shoe, to her absolutely slicked hands, to some high-velocity spray and a smear on her cheek. Other than the carnage, she was the very vision of poise.

Inwardly, the young woman was rather tired and absolutely starving. Both guild masters were nightmares for the kitchen staff on an average day, and the clone was about to descend upon them like a herd of preschoolers on the last animal cracker. Fighting always kicked her already insane appetite into overdrive and the budding murder-cult she'd just eradicated had done just that.

Shoving the ornate doors open, she initially made a beeline for the area of the hall where the trophies were kept, but her attention was snapped away. Sivvy could never walk past Amalie without speaking. The blue to her pink, DI's guild ace was her best friend, one of the very few people she had found a way to bond with. The two had an offbeat understanding of each other and it was truly a beautiful thing. Even though she was standing with a ginger she'd never seen before, Sivvy approached anyway. Her slayer ears had picked up the last bit of the conversation, a fact she wouldn't hide. New recruits were common around here, though his praise of her friend was unusual. "Hey, Amalie," she greeted with her usual muted warmth, but soon turned her crimson hues on their guest. The warmth in her expression promptly disappeared and was replaced by a small, polite smile. "Welcome, Isaak Alvah. I," the girl paused for only milliseconds, enough to remind herself of something, "I'm Sivvy, an ambassador here," she said simply, and while this newcomer would have no idea what an accomplishment this was, it was a huge departure from her typical programmed introduction of herself. She'd finally caught herself in time to drop the awkward explanation of being designated 7 with her little edit of offering her nickname tacked on. Introducing herself like a normal person felt very strange but absolutely thrilling. It felt so rebellious, even though Dr. Raelin wasn't anywhere near here to punish her. She glanced at Amalie, a spark of victory flashing in her eyes. Would Johann be proud, too? She made a mental note to tell her mentor this great achievement.

Turning her attention back to the blushing boy, her head bobbed a small nod. "Amalie will get you sorted, I'm sure," assured the bloody woman, shifting the nearly forgotten round thing in her grasp. It was a blue motorized lacrima bike helmet, nearly turned purple from the amount of blood on it. There also seemed to be a pool sloshing around inside, trapped by the way she was carrying it. Perhaps she should clean it before placing it with the other trophies... But once more her attention was shifted from the task as she gave him a better look. Judging by the large pack and his rough condition. A slender brow quirked slightly. "Were you...camping on the island?" Sivvy asked, finding this unorthodox. With the only way being by ship, and the only port being right in front of the guildhall, she tried to fathom why in the world he would wander around the wilderness first.

The blue-haired woman was met with quite the stare, she waited for the man's response, cocking herself slightly to the side during the long pause. For a moment she would wonder if he was a mute. That was until he spoke, apologizing for his behavior and offering her what she could assume was a compliment. His following ramble would cause the woman to arch a brow, a small smirk rising onto her lips. Somewhat amused by his flustered behavior, it was people like this that Amalie couldn't help but find herself wanting to toy with a little. She remained silent as he continued, introduced himself as Isaak Alvah and stating that he intended on joining.  When he finished, she would nod slowly, "Only a little." She replied in a teasing tone. "I am Commander Amalie West, I can certainly see to initiating you here, should you prove suitable." She was about to continue with the initiation process when she heard the entrance of another, causing her to glance over.

As she spotted the pink-haired Ambassador, her smirk spread into a grin, her eyes racking over the girl's attire. She was as usually into the black DI suit she often wore. Although Amalie couldn't help but notice how much blood she was covered in. She would nod in response to woman's greeting, "Another hard day at work it seems, you're going to want to soak these when get in later," She reached out, pinched at the fabric to see how much of the blood had set in before pulling her hand away and rubbing the substance between her fingers. "I have a homemade stain remover that works wonders on blood, come fetch it from my room later if it sets in too much." She told the woman in a conversational tone, as though seeing her covered in this much blood was quite the norm. Her blood-lifting formula was a little recipe she'd picked up over the years and was something the woman was quite protective over. But she was closed enough to Sivvy that she felt comfortable with sharing the solution with her.

Amalie watched as Sivvy set about introducing herself to Isaak, her manner was surprisingly relaxed for Sivvy. The younger girls crimson eyes would meet Amalie's, causing Amalie's grin to widen a fraction as she understood what had just happened with her friend. Sivvy, raised in such a way that made her almost 'robotic' to most, was trying to find herself, who she was away from that place and the way it had raised her. As Sivvy mentioned her, she returned her gaze to the orange-haired fellow. "Yes, Mr Alvah, do tell us about yourself? Where are you from?" She remarked, her expression returning to normal as she addressed the younger male. Her own question added to by Sivvy's uncertain about his actions before coming here, something Amalie was also curious about.

    Star of the Morning
Isaak had intended to listen to what the initiation process would entail, but the sharp coppery smell of blood drew his attention away. He looked back at the entrance just in time to see the pink-haired woman cross the threshold. Isaak found himself staring once more, again caught off guard by the beauty and power of only the second guild member he had met today. The pinkette looked immaculate, even covered in blood. In fact, the look made her even more endearing, which was not something blood spatter usually did. And her power was much like other woman's, Amalie, own and yet so different. Amalie's power felt like a voice whispering to him softly, a command shouted across the din of a battlefield, a challenge issued to all who dwell in the shadows. The new arrival felt like a weapon forged of the strongest iron, the gentle drift of drowsiness before sleep, and something else...something familiar to him, curiously enough.

The way they interacted showed him that they were friends, probably closer to sisters if the way their demeanor changed between talking to him and talking to each other was any indication. His combination of open mouthed staring and that fact made him feel as though he were the one who walked into a preexisting conversation, instead of the pinkette, Sivvy she had introduced herself as. "Ambassador and Commander..." he thought to himself "They must be among the highest ranked members of the guild if their strength is anything to go by. Talk about a welcome wagon." He was so distracted by his thoughts that he almost missed their questions. And he was staring again.

His blush was ever present as he gave a nervous chuckle "I'm sorry for staring I've just never met anyone as strong as either of you before. It's disarming." He cleared his throat and summoned his best smile, willing his voice to sound more cheery and less nerve wrecked "And please, call me Isaak. Mr. Alvah was my father." He moved his pack from his back and set it on the ground gently. After all, his armor was in there and he didn't want to risk any scuffs or dents in the metal "I'm from the nation of Midi, my family has lived there and trained as warriors for as long as any of us can remember. We believe in ridding the world of evils the likes of demons and dark mages, so I took up the cause as well." It was more than a cause to him, really, it was his motivation for most of what he did as a mage and it meant the world to him "Combat-wise, I'm skilled with a sword and my magic is the slaying kind: Ascendant Devil Slayer Magic."

"Other than that, I'm a Leo, I like fluffy cats and angel's food cake." He giggled at his own little joke before clearing his throat. He looked down at his appearance. He thought he looked alright, for having spent the night in the woods. He had a cut here or there in his shirt, maybe some grass stains on his shoes but it didn't seem noticeable. But then again, these were women who had made it their mission to hunt down Dark Mages and bring them to justice, they probably picked up on so much more than he was able to "The ship that brought me here got a little turned around. They didn't have enough supplies to make a trip around the island and get back to Midi comfortably, so I let them drop me off on the other side of the island and hoofed it here."

He scratched the back of his neck, his smile turning nervous "The camping wasn't that bad, if you don't count that one time a jungle cat tried to make dinner out of me."

"I might do so. I had to incinerate the last suit and make myself a new one," Sivvy idly commented, making a mental note to stop by and try Amalie's concoction. Using her threads to craft her uniforms and bodysuits wasn't difficult, just time-consuming. These days she had more than enough to fill her time, which was just how she liked it. The busier she was, the less her mind could wander and get stressed.

The potential new recruit began speaking again, so she turned her full attention away from her friend and to the camper. The bloody slayer couldn't stop the corner of her mouth twitching up into something close to a smirk as she listened. If he was left befuddled by herself and Amalie, what would he have done if Johann had been here instead? As much as it bothered her sometimes, her fellow guild master's power still dwarfed her own. The gap might not be as wide as it once was, but it was still enough to stress the perfectionist. The young woman didn't comment on it, though. It was enough to simply imagine. Isaak continued on and her mind followed along, taking notes as needed. Midi. Warrior. Anti-evil. Uses swords and slayer magic. All acceptable, even favorable. Though humor was hit or miss, his jovial additions softened her eyes for just a moment. Fluffy cats and angel's food cake. She could relate, being a lover of both fluffy things and animals. If he lived here long enough, he would no doubt find out she adored angel's food cake, and all other cakes for that matter. All food, actually. Her stomach was nearly a bottomless pit and she'd yet to find anything she wouldn't happily devour.

In closing, his explanation for his island trek made sense. "Ah, I see," she spoke at last, expression returning to her neutral stoicism with the polite smile. "Should Amalie allow you in, the West Wing has our amenities and offices, one being a top-class mess hall. It's affordable and has angel's food cake several times during the week." Sivvy's eyes crinkled in the corners just slightly. Was she...teasing him, a little?

The oranged haired recruit would explain that he was from Midi and continue on to mention his upbringing and family values. Amalie nodded, so far it was all good. Based on what he was saying he seemed like a good fit for Dies Irae. She had never been to Midi, but she'd read about its culture in magazines and books, nor had she been to many places abroad. Aside from traveling to work for the guild, she hadn't really enjoyed many holidays. It was always something she'd hoped to do, but her focus on her work meant she never had time to enjoy such things. Maybe she would get to enjoy such a thing in the future, hopefully.

Following his explanation of his magic, the next statement he made through Amalie. It was so sudden, and such a quick change in context that she stared at him for a good few moments before she realized that she had imagined what he said. "A Leo...as in your horoscope?" She asked in a tone of slight disbelief, whilst she was fully aware of the zodiac and it's supposed connection to an individual's personalities. It certainly wasn't something she used to define herself, in the Articulation mages mind, the whole thing was complete poppycock. In theory, she was a Virgo, but from what she'd read about such an individual, she really couldn't see many similarities aside from the vague ones that seemed to be hinted in every horoscope. Then again, she did have a Nephilim servant of god inside her so who knows, maybe there was something to it. This was a magical world after all. She wasn't sure what to take of the information, but it certainly lessened her impression of him a notch. She wasn't ready to rule him out though, at least not yet.

The explanation the man offered for Sivvy's camping question, "You traveled here on foot? Huh. That must have been quite the trek." And an admittedly impressive one, Amber Island wasn't exactly small. To travel across it on foot, camping, fighting off wildlife, it certainly acquired some skill. "Yes, maybe we can enjoy a little cake later today, I'm sure the kitchen has baked some, but first... I have a little exercise I'd like to try, to examine your skills before we continue with the initiation. Nothing much just maybe a little test of strength, that is, if you're willing?" She asked in a challenging tone.

    Star of the Morning
"Oh yes, my horoscope. I thought I'd throw some personal information in there so I don't look like a mindless murder drone, haha." He fiddled with the strap of his pack idly and felt his nervousness mounting. Levity was, at times, a great icebreaker. But maybe not this time. Amalie and Sivvy were obviously all business, or at least mostly business. Isaak realized the Ambassador was teasing him when she mentioned the angel's food cake in the cafeteria. He knew she was teasing, but the Commander seemed more earnest and straightforward when she confirmed it, so a little hopefulness mingled with the slight embarrassment he felt from the exchange. "A little less joking right now, Isaak. Don't want to give the wrong impression now, do we?"

"It wasn't all that bad, really. The island was beautiful, and getting here was a bit of a challenge. I was raised to love challenges." He shrugged a bit dismissively at that, hoping he didn't sound like he was bragging too much. He might've been over thinking it, but he didn't want to seem like a haughty jerk, or an airhead joker. Being overcritical of his actions was something Isaak was familiar with, because a perfect weapon has to be, well, perfect. That was kicked into overdrive now, because not only was he trying to be a good soldier but he was also trying to impress to elite members of the guild he wanted to join. The guild that exemplified everything he wanted to be and accomplish. No pressure, right? "Wrong."

Isaak perked up visibly at the woman's words and tone. Like he had said, tests and challenges were his bread and butter. They had been thrown at him left and right as he grew up. What better way to raise a warrior than with rigorous training? "Of course, Commander West! If there ever comes a time where I'm not up for a challenge, I'll be dead and buried." He reached down into his pack for a moment, rummaging around a bit before pulling two identical longswords and their holsters from within. He slipped his hands through the straps present with practiced ease, tightening the straps around his torso methodically, making sure they were nice and secure.

"So what test do you have for me, Commander?

Sivvy seemed game for trying all sorts of new types of interaction today, riding the high of her successful 'normal' introduction. She'd just finished an enlightening book the night before about thriving in social situations, complete with helpful tips and examples. This was like an experiment to her, a bit of research. It was a little exciting, trying to see what was successful and what wasn't.

Working off of Amalie's challenge, crimson eyes lit up slightly. Like laser pointers, they trained on the ginger boy before them. "Yes, a test of strength," she agreed, her smile widening slightly. It wasn't a pure smile, though. There was just a hint of impishness as well as perhaps the same cold scientific sharpness Dr. Raelin often had when he wanted to see how a certain experiment would go. "We should make our way to the trial grounds," the ambassador said, eyeing his swords and eagerness to please them as well as prove himself. Good. She moved to place her trophy on a shelf, making a mental note to come back and clean it out and properly add it to the collection later. Then her heels clacked their way beyond the two, toward the doors once more. "If he survives a single attack from me at full power, I say he'll be wonderful Dies Irae material. Wouldn't you say that's fair, Amalie?" she asked in a serious tone, flipping her ponytail over her shoulder. "I suppose we could set the same parameters for surviving an attack from you as well," added the young woman to Amalie, before speaking about their potential recruit again. "Or...more interestingly and decisively, surviving both?"

Amalie decided not to respond further to the horoscope comment, she simply watched the young man's expression. He seemed somewhat nervous, perhaps a little awkward. The woman held her expression, although she couldn't help but be slightly amused by this little observation, a part of her kind of enjoyed seeing him squirm. But still, despite her temptations she knew she had to contain herself a little, this was an initiation afterall and he had yet to prove himself a worthy candidate for Dies Irae.

Upon her suggestion for a little test, he seemed to heartily agree to the idea, to which Amalie would nod. Before glancing over at Sivvy who with a surprisingly devilish expression would suggest the training grounds, Amalie nodded in agreement. As usual, the woman had picked up on her intentions without her needing to elaborate. "Very well, then." She told them, before moving to lead the group through the guild. As they walked Sivvy would add an additional suggestion, one which Amalie pondered with uncertainty. She knew Sivvy’s strength and whilst this boy seemed relatively sturdy, she wasn’t sure about risking killing a potential recruit. As she continued Amalie felt a small smirk creep onto her lips. ”An attack from both of us, now that certainly would be a sight. Even a God of Ishgar might struggle with such a feat.” Amalie responded playfully, winking at the rose-haired girl, as her thoughts lingered on a certain silver-haired individual. She glanced back to Isaac, and for just a moment her eyes glistened with a flicker of mischievous excitement before once again returning to their stoic normality. “You'll just have to see when we get there.” She teased.

They moved towards the other side of the guildhall, as they stepped into the trial grounds they would arrive in a large arena. The arena itself was impressive in size and the entirety of it was protected with runes to ensure that any of the magic used here wouldn't endanger the grounds itself or anyone watching. Which meant that if Sivvy wanted to, she could go all out although something told Amalie that wouldn't be wise. Amalie quickly noticed that the mousey-haired newbie from her office was here as she'd instructed, currently engrossed in weight training. Amalie approached quietly, watching his form, his breathing was erratic and he was already covered in sweat despite having not been out here that long. "Joffrey!" She barked sharply, causing the distracted recruit to jump suddenly, letting go of the weight he was carrying and dropping it on his foot with a pained cry. He thrashed for a moment before looking up anxiously at his superior with pained eyed, "Yes C-commander West?" He stuttered in a strained voice. She eyed him for a moment, it was probably best that he not be here for this. "Head to the kitchens Joffrey, tell the chefs the Ambassador and I are in the mind for some Angel's Food Cake." The recruit looked somewhat baffled at such a request, but under Amalie's hard gaze he quickly got to his feet and limped away towards the kitchens. At the very least, somewhat relieved to have a break from training, despite Amalie's earlier command.

After watching him leave, Amalie turned to Isaak. Her ice-cold eyes scanning him once more, “Alright, head the center of the grounds.” She instructed to the carrot-top, before turning to Sivvy. “Dial it back a notch, probably be best if we don't kill the kid.”  She remarked quietly to the girl, before striding away in order to create a few good paces between them. After moving an acceptable distance, she turned to face the pair, “Alright Isaak Alvah, your test is as follows. All you need to do is take a hit from our Ambassador here and survive. For your own sake, I suggest you don’t hold back.”  She added sternly, hoping Sivvy would take on board her advice. Under her breathe Amalie would then utter a spell of her own, a mere safety measure, should she need to intervene. Once they seemed ready to start, Amalie straightened up, arms crossed over her chest. “Let us begin.”
