To the members of West Fiore Trading Company,

You are invited to the Winter Masquerade Ball as a show of appreciation for your hard work and dedication to the company. There will be plenty of food and refreshments to satisfy everyone, as well as music and entertainment acts provided by some members of the guild. The ball will be held in the Event Hall on Tolgalen and have a semi-formal dress code! We would greatly appreciate you joining the ball, and hope you enjoy yourselves as well.

Thank you again for your hard work and dedication within the company, and keep up the great work!

    West Fiore Trading Company Management

OOC: This Guild Event will lead into the Cross Guild Event with the Alliance to figure out about an area of Tolgalen riddled with plagues.

    Event hall:

    Adalinda

    The Iron Dragon Slayer

Adalinda takes a deep breath as she looks at herself in a mirror. She was wearing a dress, and had a mask in her hand. She wouldn't have worn the dress if she hadn't been threatened by Ruvel to wear it. She felt insanely uncomfortable and just wanted in her pants again... She could have been dressed nicely with her suit on, but this was a masquerade ball, and she needed to look nicer for it, even if it was semi formal. With the help of Tamaria, and surprisingly a little bit of Veles' help, Adalinda was able to actually get the majority of this ball set up for her fellow guild members. She could barely believe she even was able to do this at all. The black haired girl walks into the event hall as best she can in the heels, despite them being low, and takes a deep breath. Tamaria was in her neko form, sporting a similar looking dress to Adalindas. Her mask was also similar to Ada's, and she was already wearing it.

Ada takes a deep breath as Tammy went ahead and was observing what was on the tables. "Everything's looking great, Ada! I'm glad you took my suggestions and got inspired by a few of them!" The exceed giggles as she clapped her hands a little. 'Should tell the cat that I came up with half the stuff here really...' Veles snickers as Adalinda rolls her eyes. 'Should get that mask on now. It's about to start in a bit. Don't want to be unprepared when it is time.' Sometimes that dragon could be helpful. With a deep breath, she crouches down enough to let Tammy be able to tie the mask, that she had been carrying around, to the back of her head. Her ice blue eyes looked up around the building. The banners with West Fiore Trading Companies logo on them was neatly hanging up above in the middle of the room as the band was getting ready to start playing at one end of the hall. She stands up as music begins playing. There was no way she could have done this all on her own... or would it even look near as beautiful.

She looked over as the chef was coming out with a cart of more food, and quickly went over to him. "Chef Benvolio, let me help you." She says, giving him a smile. She was glad she made sure that at least wine and champagne was provided so she could have some alcohol during this party, or else she felt she wouldn't be able to be professional during this party. She helped him place the winter themed food on the buffet table, and carefully helps with getting the cake on the table designated for it. "Thank you, Mrs Ortinbras. And if I do say so myself, you look wonderful. Your husband must feel like he won a million bucks with you dressed like so. Maybe try dressing like so more often." Adalinda's face flushed a deep red under her mask as she gave him a nervous smile, shrugging her left shoulder slightly. She wasn't yet married to Yuudai, but they were working on that bit slowly. Another member came over asking for her assistance with setting the chairs up, and she is quickly able to excuse herself from Chef Benvolio to help them.

By the time the chairs were all set up, and the lighting was just right, she made her way to the doors. Tamaria was already there, and excitedly waiting for the members to be allowed in. Behind the girls, at the far wall, was the band, and along the left walls were he tables of food with the opposite side being seatings. Various other members were also going to be performing for everyone up where the band was playing to allow them breaks, and a sense of variety. Adalinda glanced over to someone who was checking the time, and raised an eyebrow to them when they looked to her. They nodded, and Adalinda smiles softly. It was time to show everyone hers and Tamaria's hard work. Boy, did she hope they did well. Clearing her throat, the masked dragon slayer nods to the guys at the door. "Open the doors... please? It's time to let the ball begin!" She got a bit caught up saying that little line, throwing her arms out excitedly as she did so. The band had also struck a higher note just as she did so, making her feel self conscious with her actions as she glanced back at them. She was also hoping no others would make comments on her wearing a dress, if they seemed to notice it was her at least.

Earlier that day while Cheshire had just gotten up and checked his mail, he had gotten a indentation to a ball. It seemed to have a dress code, a semi fancy suit and mask, doesn't say what kind of mask[ so he just picked one that he brought with him. Lucky him, he had just that, a mask and a suit. After he got fully ready he checked himself out in a full boy mirror, he looked like his dad when he isn't out cold on his office couch, when he put on the mask it covered his cat ears kinda making him a bit shift but is a masquerade so he wouldn't stick out like a soar thumb but still it didn't help that his eyes made him look a tad evil or glaring. After that he got his indentation and mask and headed out to the address where it said it was happening at, he soon arrived at the location a little pass the time it was going to start and they were letting people in.
There were two thinks he had notice when he entered, the Ballroom they were in kinda looks like a Lumian Ballroom which made Cheshire a bit uncomfortable and the other thing he had notice was a purple haired neko, probably a servant or something, Chesh had brought Jinks with him since they can't be apart for to long with Jinks acting like a sad puppy who was left alone at home. Still, without Jinks, Chesh would be nervous fully for being there since he did not know anyone there since he was still new to the group.

    Appearance:

Dreary was the evening and quite chilly, though it did not bother him much. A couple of days prior, the man heard a company was hosting a masquerade ball to celebrate the coming holiday and that they were handing out invitations to certain people. Many people expected Hero to get one such letter but it mattered little to him. Ever since what happened on that island... he had changed, though at least now he could put on a better brave face. The man could see it in his own eyes when looking into a mirror. Anyone tall enough or lucky enough could tell if they were able to see. Perhaps an outing like this would have at least assisted in distracting himself from the numbing silence in his heart and his mind, he thought. But it was a masquerade ball, right? To his knowledge, Hero was the only person in Fiore who was... so wretchedly tall. No matter what he was definitely going to stand out. Then he remembered that strange ring he hadn't touched in what seemed like ages. The giant walked casually over to his dresser and looked at the ring which sat flat on its grainy wooden surface. Grabbing with the thumb and index finger of his left hand, he continued looking and watched as it grew in real time to match his ring size. Such a strange thing this piece of jewelry was, and even as he put it on the index finger of his right hand he thought to himself, "I can never get over this feeling of nervousness... being apprehensive."

Now naked from the change, there was a sudden knock at the door but there was no voice following it. Instead there was an envelope that was slid under the door through the small opening and he could hear footsteps vanish into the distance. It seemed he got an invitation after all, albeit at the last possible moment. "She" then walked to and bent over to grab the envelope from the floor and set it on "her" bed before moving to "her" closet, where "she" always kept some clothing for times when "she" would use this ring. It was a ball, so a nice dress was mandatory; she took her black dress from the rack and proceeded to put it on and situate herself comfortably. The "woman" did not have a mask so she would have to stop by a store and buy a fashionable one for the evening. Rose, she referred to herself as, sat on the bed and slipped on black stockings with matching garter belt followed by a pair of semi-formal boots. Now fully dressed, Rose headed out the front door with invitation in hand - after throwing away the useless envelope - her first destination being a store to buy a mask.

Since the dress was so fragile, the young-looking woman walked carefully but fluidly so the bottom of her dress wouldn't drag in the snow. After a few minutes, she arrived at a store and immediately found the perfect mask. Rose vanished into the store and came back out with the mask already on and then moved on to the destination mentioned in the invitation. It took perhaps a half hour for her to get there thanks to the dress but luckily she was right on time for the doors to open, and as the woman walked up to the entrance, a man greeted her and took the invitation while at the same time bowing and making way.

In a kind, but subtly chilly manner she said aloud, "Thank you" and continued her gentle pace inward to a chair off to an outer table.

While at Silver Wolf Guild Hall trying to sort out her office, Leona had received an invitation to a masquerade ball in Tolgalen. A masquerade ball? What was that? An older staff member kindly explained what it was to the blonde, who had never been to such an event in her life. Desert dwellers did not exactly have time for high society functions, after all.

Leona left all her weapons and equipment at the guild hall for this event. It would not be polite to show up at a formal party with a weapon. Besides, magic was a good enough weapon on its own. Leona got dressed in casual attire and flew to Hargeon Town in order to find a decent dress shop. She did not want to throw on just any old dress for this event.

    -Hargeon Town, six hours later-

It was late afternoon when Leona bought a royal blue dress for the event and decent shoes to go with it from a store called La Belle Epoque. She also bought a neutral white mask to go with it. The blonde was no fashionista. She just grabbed what she thought looked good and went with it. After getting dressed, she summoned her harpies and flew for Tolgalen.

    -Tolgalen, one hour later-

Leona touched down in Tolgalen and dispelled her harpies. It was awfully cold weather and it was nighttime. Perhaps she should have bought a matching coat to wear to ward off the cold, but it was too late now. She carefully walked towards the entrance of the hall, which was "guarded" by a man in a suit wearing white gloves. Leona presented her invitation to the man, who nodded and opened the door for the mage. The blonde quickly walked inside and was immediately warmed.

She liked the decor of the place. It was bright, elegant, and inviting all at once. Leona walked to a table and picked up a glass of water to drink.

    Black

    Winter Masquerade

Markus walked slowly, messing with his collar and readjusting his mask for the thousandth time. Usually a man dressed entirely in black, and one to keep himself hidden from social events the mage was preparing for something entirely out of his comfort zone.

The mage was dressed in a pure white suit, custom tailored to his body and bought purely for this event. Markus was not one to wear suits, in fact the last time he adorned such a look was almost ten years ago, and that time he was almost sold into 'servitude'. However, the vice president of the West Fiore Trading Company had insisted that Markus dressed up, and Markus not one to cause unneeded conflict finally relented.

Markus was unsure what caused him to get the white suit, literately everything other piece of clothing he owed was black. However, the mage just could not say no as the female shopkeeper took him from isle to isle, talking so fast that he could barely understand, and taking uncountable measurements. In the end, Markus relented agreeing with what she had said. The suit caused his long red hair, now in a pony tail, to stand out and his pale skin to seem a little lively in comparison. Plus, it did wonders to make the mage look somewhat respectable. Accenting his suit was a purple tie, and a 'pocket square' of matching color. Upon his face was a black mask, curved at the edges, it covered his eyes and part of his nose but left his mouth open and unhindered.

Stopping up front of a smartly dressed man Markus fished in his chest pocket for the invitation he had received. Markus was not a member of The West Fiore Trading Company, and had been invited as a guest, a member of the new alliance between the three neutral guilds. Markus did not decline the invitation, after all it was given to him by the vice president. However, he definitely questioned why he was invited. After all, only his Guild Master and a few select members knew Markus had returned, and none of them knew why he had been gone.

As he entered the building, Markus let out a held breath. He knew now that there would be no way he could hide during this event. The hall was very well lit, and looked immaculate, grand, and forbearing to the darkness mage.

Without question Markus found himself a glass of champagne and started to look for one of the two members he knew in the company.

Post by Nessa Cordelia Lux 4th December 2018, 12:51 pm

Nessa was both surprised and excited to have received the formal invitation from the West Fiore Trading Company to take part in such a lovely event. She knew she had made many acquaintances in that guild since forming Fairy Tail had formed an alliance with them. So she was happy to come along and take part. She had spent a whole week scouring the shops between week hours to look for a dress. Semi-formal meant for so many options, in Nessa's eyes, and she had to look presentable if she was going to be representing Fairy Tail's presence there. Eventually, she had settled on a dark purple dress, slightly off the shoulder sleeves and long pleated skirt. A floral headpiece and matching purple masquerade mask

She had booked a hotel room for the night as Tolgalen was so far from home, her father had been highly disappointed as he wanted to get a picture of her in her dress. Something about never having the opportunity before as she didn't attend her high-school end of year formal. She had never explained the reason for that to him, just that she didn't feel well enough to go. So, unfortunately, he had missed out on the proud Dad tradition of taking pictures and posing together. The truth was she hadn't wanted to go because she knew it only ended in tears, either her ex-friends would all ignore her, or potentially pull some kind of nasty prank. Cassie had no way eased off, and Nessa didn't want to deal with any further issues with the girl.

As she left the hotel, she climbed into the carriage she had arranged, staring out of the window as they drove through Tolgalen towards the Event hall where the Winter Ball was located. When she arrived, she awed at the sight of the hall. Climbing out of the carriage and paying the driver, she felt her excitement grow as she glanced at all the beautifully dressed people making their way inside. It seemed she had arrived in good time, not long after the doors had opened. She followed the crowd, one hand holding her purple mask over her face, and the over hoisting up her dress slightly so that she didn't fall flat on her face. The last thing she wanted was to fall and ruin her dress before the party even started.

Once inside, she took a moment to admire the extravagance of the hall; it had been a while since she had seen such a fine establishment up close. She had attended an event like this once before, but it had been a job, and her date had been less than pleasant. She hoped that today she would get to truly enjoy herself, although as Nessa glanced around, she realised that might not be so easy. Until she recognised someone, she didn't have anyone to talk to. She wondered if Johann was here, or Sol. She lowered her mask, starting to get a little nervous, she reached out towards a passing server and pinched a spare glass of champagne.

As more people came in, Chesh stayed out of the fray since he didn't want to get sucked into a dance, he hadn't danced in years but still remembered the moves. He soon spots someone wearing what seemed to be a plane white mask and a blue dress, was strange since most mask are either have some design or themed to them. "Hey Jinks, kinda reminds you of that one poor Lumian girl. Poor thing, didn't know masks showed people who you truly were but hey, maybe the poor thing didn't have any masks and choose that out of a wim. Huh, this event makes me miss the days where we traveled around our home country singing in our band." While it was true, he refused to remember that and more focus on the people in the event. A lot of them seem to be chatting with each other but no one seemed to want to talk to him, to Cheshire that was a good thing since he had nothing good to talk about, but he think its due to his mask making him look a bit intimidating.

Sol present for the Masquerade as well since he was a vice president with a black dragon mask on his face. The childlike Ace was dressed very formally in Midi fashion with his form being garbbed in a nice black hakama and a dark grey Kimino top. The outfit was finished with a very nice haori which was a combination of black and white and the dragon had a glass of alcohol in his hand, he sipped it slightly as he approached Ada and he smirked a bit.” It looks like this is going to be a good night Ada” he mentioned as he stood beside her and watched as people approached and joined in the festivities.

Sol then started to move around and check out how people were doing, occasional stopping and talking to them before he spotted a familiar face and he approached Nessa. As he got closer he bowed his head in greeting.”Hello Nessa How have you been?” he asked as he took a sip of his alcohol.

Haraka glanced to the invitation one more time before tucking it away then walking inside. It had been a very long time since he had willingly attended something like this. William, as sweet as they were, was still a baby animal. As such, he was at home with a babysitter. The clam didn't know anything about any sort of formalities, events or otherwise. Harakas hair was tied the same way it always was, as was part of his native culture to do so. Until he had his ceremony, it would remain. That would never come though, so his hair would always remained tied up. On their face was a mask, the colors not being too far off from the remaining clothing. On him was a dark sapphire blue dress swallowtail coat with black pearl buttons. His cuff links were made of the same material, only having his family crest painted on them. The mans black dress shoes looked clean and polished, a dark sapphire blue vest underneath. The dress shirt under that was a pale silvery color, the slacks on him matching the coat and vest. The music playing was good and there was a scent in the air of fine quality food that tugged at his stomach. But there was no reason to feel nervous, right? And yet the food, it called... While he didn't talk to anyone yet, the mixed blood also made sure to not go for any of the food yet. That would be rude.

A Winter Masquerade Ball (social) UlVH26w

Aranea was wearing the blonde human appearance most of her new guildmates and most mortals new her as. She had a found a mask to go with the formal, one-shoulder red ball gown she had picked out of her wardrobe to attend this dance. Once upon a time this dress trimmed with hearts to match the natural blush on her cheeks, was the height of fashion in the Celestial Realm. Aranea had no doubt how gouache she'd look to any old friend she could see there wearing fashion  so many decades old.

With all these delectable mortals gathered in one place, all of whom were too dangerous to hunt or simply off limits because of her pledge, she figured this ball would be a good test of her self-control. The more she socialized with mortals, the easier, in theory, it should be see them as equals again. She took a deep breath, settling into the mindset she had taken on since joining WFTC, the mindset of one Lucy Van Pelt. As usual her own silver celestial key hung from a decorative chain at her hip. She headed in, deciding she'd start with  one of the few who knew who she really was, so Lucy joined Sol's side.

She smiled o Ada, the spirit still trying to formally meet more of her guildmates too. Nice to meet you I'm Lucy. It's been awhile since I've been to a celebration like this. Everything looks great.

Belatedly she followed Sol, the spirit stopping to grab a drink for herself. When she reached Sol's side again, he was already talking to the Fairy Tail wizard, Nessa. This was not someone she recognized seeing around Tolgalen in her sort time there. The letter of her pledge would apply to visitors as much as it did residents. The level of magic power she sensed in the young owman  took her off the menu as too dangerous to risk hunting,  pledge or not.

An excellent chance to test  her  rusty social skills with mortals. After a sip of her drink, Lucy gave an antiquated style of curtsey "I'm Lucy.. Hello and hello Sol, Sir. Is she from of our allies I've heard about? I haven't seen you around. I haven't been around here long myself, so I hope I'm not getting the customs wrong."

    Yona's Dress:

    Yona's Mask:

Yona Hisamori was actually enthused about the upcoming masquerade ball. She had learned recently that Adalinda became an Ace for the guild and that the alliance so far between guilds was going well. Yona has yet to meet anyone from the other guilds, so tonight was the perfect chance to congratulate Adalinda and meet other mages. Yona knew that over a year ago, when she had snuck into Onyx Moon by using the cargo hold of a ship, she had a long way to go to make a good impression. From trying to steal from the company, nearly killing Chef Benvolio, and a half a year of intensely studying poisons under Sol's wing, Yona had come a long way from the little thief, the child who used her latent grief and rage to make her way through life. Now, the girl had grown: at twenty one years old, she was a woman who had her brother back, who had found a new home and a new family, and who had progressed in her magical ability much farther than she would have ever dared possible. Tonight was the night where it all came together.

Yona herself designed her dress, working with a local tailor who dabbled in magic with clothing. The two had combined and replicated Yona's design until she was able to wear a gallant and unusual gown. The top revealed her collarbone, but overall had a high necked and long sleeved design. Green waves of fabric like enormous blades of grass overlay her torso, splitting by her left hip and opening in the back to reveal her shoulder blades. The green cloth sparkled slightly, as if sprinkled with a morning dew. The lower half of the dress was composed of white flowers, over-sized white lilies were the inspiration for the sheaths of fabric which rippled over her legs. It was elegant and it was Yona's style perfectly. She hadn't any idea what to wear for a mask and deigned that her Onyx Moon mask would likely get her in serious trouble. She was thankful when the tailor assisted her in choosing a gold eye mask with a cream colored base and sparkling glitter and flowers on the exterior. Yona chose to wear flats, not really minding being short, and not caring what her shoes looked like when nobody could see them anyway. Fully composed, Yona looked like a fresh flower in spring walking into the Winter ball, but she supposed that she enjoyed standing out.

Yona passed her invitation to the man at the door when she arrived, holding a wrapped gift in her right hand. She had amends to make on this night with the Chef, deciding that it was time to stop avoiding him and try to set things right. Over the course of the week, Yona had missed a few days of rest, her dreams plagued by the slaughter on the ship, one she was responsible for and her days filled with the rancid memory of the taste of blood. Just before getting the invitation she had become Briar, secretly carrying out a mission for Onyx Moon. Nobody but Johann and Kyran knew that she had a demon inside of her, but after what she witnessed, what she knew she was really capable of, Yona was making an effort to change that. Perhaps, after the ball, she would pull aside Ruvel and speak with him about her new circumstances. She trusted Ruvel enough after all. Still, no sense in ruining the ball for everyone. Yes, Yona would need to save that bit for later.

The plant mage made her way into the ball, spying the other adorned mages dancing, drinking and mingling about. She caught sight of Chef Benvolio at the main table, organizing and helping with the food. She made her way towards him before nearly walking into Sol, where he stood talking to two people she didn't recognize. Yona looked at him and smiled, "Hey you look good like this. The mask though, I think some of us know who you are.~" Yona gave a polite nod to whoever he was with, unsure of what to say to introduce herself. It would be really awkward if she already knew the person and just didn't recognize them because of the mask. Her light teasing was hardly subtle and implied that his dragon mask made it very clear just who he was. But walking in looking like a plant, she doubted she was anything but subtle either. Yona glanced up past Sol and saw a dark haired woman and Tamaria. She gave Adalinda a silent wave, reminding herself to go talk to her next. Chef Benvolio would have to wait.

Whether to attend the Winter's Ball that was being hosted by her guild, it was a difficult choice to make. She didn't quite enjoy the company of others, and although she had found joining the West Fiore Trading Company a massive benefit in her several steps to success. There was still a great deal that needed work, her magic in a sense was limited. She had come to that realisation on her last job, she had enough spells, but she tended to burn through them all so quickly. There was also the ... bizarre occurrences she hadn't quite got answers for yet. She had speculated for hours on end, but she needed something concrete, a clear answer. She hadn't seen any further signs of what she had experienced that day. Then again she also hadn't run into ... them for a while. She was considering re-visiting Fat Monsterland on her own, to test the possibility that it was the place or the monsters from that region, rather than the individuals involved. But taking the time to do that had the potential to be fruitless, she would be wasting several days travelling, have to purposely fight beasts which cause result in a poor result for herself, and it could potentially only make the situation more confusing. Still, she didn't have many other options, except talking to a certain set of individuals about it.

Amalie pushed herself off the sofa, walking slowly over to her bedroom. She reached her wardrobe and pulled open the double doors. There were several dresses she could wear, but this was a semi-formal event, she smirked at some of the contents she owned. A small sense of amusement at the prospect of arriving in a full leather bodysuit, the shock of the faces of those around her would undoubtedly make for an exciting evening. But that wouldn't provide for many benefits aside from amusement, she wasn't quite involved enough with the guild yet to warrant such teasing behaviour. Her hands slid across the rack and pulled out a burgundy dress. It had a slight green ombre fade at the base, a black band that pulled in the waist a little and a fur lining that made up the sleeves. Yes, this would do. She quickly changed into it, heading over to her accessories drawer, she pulled a black band and slid it into her hair behind her fringe. Completing final touch-ups on her make-up, perfume and jewellery, before finally sliding on some five-inch black heels, picking a black satin purse, lacey black mask off the side, and leaving her apartment.

She arrived at the ball a short time later; her lace masked tied on, she had just about missed the start of the ball. Perhaps due to her indecisiveness on whether to come or not. She climbed down the stairs of the hall, a small smirk on her lips. She had to give it to her guild; this was a nicer event than she'd expected it to be."This might actually be a little fun." She muttered to herself. The first place she went was the bar; she didn't fancy champagne, no. If she wanted to truly enjoy herself, she needed the good stuff. As she arrived, she leaned against the bar, "Cherry Brandy on the rocks please, preferably Red stag if you have it." She ordered, sliding jewels from her bag onto the bar. Moments later, a drink took their place, Amalie scooped it off the pair. Bringing it to her lips, she took a sip. Allowing the bittersweet flavour to coat her tongue for a moment, before swallowing it down. It was good, she turned away from the bar, eying those around her. She didn't recognise a lot of individuals, but that wasn't surprising. She had only met a few of her guildmates and for the most part that had been on jobs. She would wait, enjoy a little of the brandy for a while before deciding what action to take next.

    Adalinda

    The Iron Dragon Slayer

Veles had told Adalinda that she should stay near the middle of the entrance to be seen and to greet others into the ball. Even though she felt uncomfortable doing so, she did it, with as much... grace, as one could call it, as she could muster. Tamaria's ears flickered as she was all too excited. Always getting rather childish in her neko form. Her wings fluttered as she went off to dance on her lonesome, leaving Ada to do the greetings on her own. When she felt a good chunk of people had been greeted, Adalinda had to go take a drink break. She had grabbed herself some of the strongest wine they had, at least trying to be classy here. As she was approached by Sol, Adalinda smiled slightly to him. "Hello, Sol. I hope it's going to be a good night... I worked hard for this. Fancy parties isn't my style... If I could have done a tavern party, I would. But I doubt that would have been acceptable and wouldn't have been given the a-okay by anyone." She snorts, giving him a nod as she turned to look around at the people. Tamaria was dancing elegantly for people, and hoped no one would ask her to dance herself. She had two left feet... and never learned how to even 'fancy dance.'

As another joined her and Sol, Adalinda gave them a smile and bowed her head a little. "Nice to meet you, Lucy, I'm Adalinda. I'm glad it looks great! I hope you have a fun time here!" She wanted to twinge at her voice. That wasn't her natural attitude. That was like... a customer service voice she just put on. She gave the two a small wave as they left to greet another, and she took a deep breath. She'd have to do the same and get sociable with the rest of the members. She looks over to the band as they seemed to be playing tunes for the season, giving a light an airy feel to the event hall. She walked away from the drinks table, sipping her wine as she walked. She noticed Yona come in, and chuckles to herself, honestly feeling like she expected nothing less of the plant mage. She smirked as the green haired mage waved to her, waving back slightly as she approached a man with long red hair. She hadn't met him before, but she felt she should try and make nice and talk to people she didn't recognize outright.

"Hello! I'm sorry if I didn't greet you coming in. I hope you're enjoying yourself though?" She says as she glances around the hall. This really wasn't her setting. She nervously pushed her hair back behind her ear, trying to not mess with the ribbon of her mask to rip it off. 'You're doing good so far, Ada... sure you've never been to a big ball party before? Such a lady now.' Veles teased his host, making her smile she was trying to have, twitch before she somehow found composure. She was making bets with herself that if she met this person outside of this ball originally, they might be looking at her as if she had an enchantment of sorts set on her with how unnatural this actually felt to her.

She glances over to Tamaria approaching, smiling under her blue mask up at the red head, and held out her hand. "Would you care to dance with Ada? Or even myself?" The neko exceed said rather excitedly. She was wanting partners. Ada was staring at Tammy with wide eyes, and nearly dropped her wine over the fact that the cat was trying to volunteer her to dance with a stranger. It was bad enough she had been forced to wear a dress, but now this cat was trying to get her to dance too?! She didn't know how to even process this.

It seemed that a lot of people had shown up, still it was a even and he had seen that the event also included the alliance members as well so that mean its going to be 3 guilds worth of people so it should be expected for that many people to show up. He soon got bored and went to the bar to order a drink to make tonight less nerve wrecking, he got his favorite Brandy with some silver vine sake. There was a woman in a very lovely dress and seemed to be a little more fancy then everyone else, he can't since most people consider semi formal as a way to dress the way they want that is still seen as fancy. He stayed a bit longer watching everyone dance, even though he was a part of this ball he kinda felt like a outsider crashing the party or someone looking in though a window.

    Haraka Omaras

Many seemed very good at gathering in groups. Even a woman that was by herself a moment before now had a certain feline near by her person. Yona somehow ended up arriving not looking like a trouble maker. He would say maybe she wasn't anymore, but she hadn't really shown him otherwise as of yet. That was okay though, she was still young and had time. Should he seek the comfort of fellow people in the form of conversation? The young looking old man would have considered it if he felt remotely close to anyone there. At this point, there was really no reason to bother anyone when there were other options. Quiet foot steps moved across the floor of the beautiful and vast room. Omaras wasn't trying to stand out, nor do anything drastic. The mixed bloods body moved fluidly, certainly with more confidence than when having first arrived at Tolgalen. Not the most confident, but back then? His mind had become a shambling shell trying to stand and function from the many years of being trapped in their own mind. Why had he ever become trapped that way to begin with? Something he did a long time ago, tearing off a small piece of his own soul so he could fool a group of killers. Causing them to loose interest, saving lives from death, and possibly himself from suffering something worse than that. That mistake didn't matter, the incomplete mess that he was before didn't either. The ice blue skinned person knew he still was far from perfect, but that's why you move forward.

Their target was soon reached, feet stopping near it. Eyes glanced at the plates meant to be used by those who wanted to grab food before his fingers moved to grasp the one at the top. It was a simple feat that anyone could achieve, but nobody grabs a buffet table plate to impress anyone. What to grab? Well, nothing shrimp related. That was one meat that for him was always wordlessly placed off meal options. One item was pieces of bread toasted. She could see the beautiful toasted finish as well as smell the gentle bit of butter. A thin slice of fine brei had toasted on top. Chopped baked small seasoned tomatoes that were finely seasoned. He made sure to grab one. Despite there being many there to grap, there was also many people. Haraka was more than aware of how much he wanted, but one was the non greedy amount to take. The next thing he grabbed a little of was mashed potatoes that smelled creamy, spiced, and divine. It wasn't anything extreme, likely a little garlic, maybe cream or cheese, and some other things. It looked as fluffy as a cloud, like it would be wonderful to try, but kept his hunger under check. The next thing he grabbed was a small flaky crusted tomato quiche. If one thought it smelled all it needed was cheese to send you to heaven, one only had to look at the nearby small ramekins full of french onion soup. Taking one of those, the man moved himself down the table towards the desserts and away from the possibility of dipping too far into the savory dish heaven.

From the sweets he grabbed a simple piece of spiced ginger bread. There were many other amazing treats, chocolate mousse with ginger snap bottoms, eggnog cheesecake, sugarplum pie, among other items. The half demons hunger protested a bit, but he could always eat as much as his heart desired at home. For now, he would enjoy some of the offered foods. The young looking man knew he wasn't actually all that hungry. What was making him feel that way then? All the wondrously crafted foods in sight. None of the foods grasped would have been traditional in his own home country, but that's where cooking for yourself later comes in handy.

The Blood of death kept me breathing. From that fluid birthed a new rhythm.

Leona stood off to the side while sipping on her glass of water. She had quite a few concerns on her mind. She had to stop the cult that was threatening Earthland before their plan came to fruition. She had to get stronger so that she could stand on equal footing with other Guild Masters. That led to another issue... just because their power levels would be equal did not mean that her magic was as strong as that of other Guild Masters.

Leona wanted to interact with someone, but with who? She was squarely in West Fiore Trading Company territory. She was also too preoccupied with her own business to be much of a social person. The blonde watched as others strolled to the bar and ordered alcohol.

Leona was not a drinker. Drinking alcohol was a luxury the Tri-Council city people could afford because they were safe behind walls. Desert dwellers needed to be ready to fight at any time and alcohol hindered that ability. Water would be good enough for Leona.

She looked over the food and saw Haraka perusing the options to choose from. She was not hungry right now because she was too nervous to eat. This was the blonde's first semi-formal event and she was totally lost. She did not know how to act or what to do. Leona felt like a complete desert bumpkin.

    The Winter Masquerade

Markus watched with an apathetic visage and a fake smile as more and more people found their way into the ball. The chaos mage was not used to such settings, and had to keep reminding himself to stop messing with his mask. He had yet to see anyone he knew, which unfortunately did not surprise the man. He was not very social, and did not make many friends.

‘You would… if you smiled more.’ It was not the first time Markus had found himself talking in his own mind, yet once more Markus could how help wonder where the thought had come from. The mage had never once cared what overs thought of him. He was not usually one to smile, nor show emotion unless fakes. Markus had agreed long ago to the slow dilution of that side of his mind, a curse of the chaotic nature of his magic. Yet still, somehow he had been invited to such an event.

Taking another drink of his champagne Markus looked up as a woman approached him wearing an elegant gown, at her side a young looking female with noticeable feline features. The mage had no recollection of meeting either of the two before. Markus, still thinking of what ‘he’ though smiled slightly as she approached, the smile was small and somewhat forced but he mage was trying.

“It is not issue, the name is Markus of Fairy Tail.” The mage said offering his hand. “I was invited as a guest curtsy of Johann.” Markus glanced about, once more confirming that the man had not yet shown up. Looking towards the younger woman with a light mask Markus took her hand and listened to hear speak with a raised eyebrow.

Markus had not danced in years, not since he was taught in Bellam… However, the felt sure he still remembered the basics. Even if he make sure to forget everything else about the nation. ‘What’s the worst that can happen?’

Markus looked towards between the two, and decided the voice was right. Setting the glass down on a passive servers platter Markus spoke up, “I would be happy to dance. Though, you will have to forgive me if I am a bit rusty.” He once more offering his hand to the West Fiore mage.

As expected, his dancing was not sublime, but he would have managed not to make a fool of himself. If pressed he would chat occasionally about whatever the topic seemed to be, though his knowledge of the alliance, and even of Fairy Tails current status would be very much lacking, after all he had only been back recently, and most of the guild was not aware of that. It would be obvious that Markus was not one to talk, and his discomfort was probably just as apparent. Yet Markus surprisingly enjoyed himself.

After an appropriate amount of time, probably a dance or two, Markus having no problem dancing with either of the woman would excuse himself. He had noticed Ada seemed pretty well known, and felt uncomfortable occupying her time any more. In addition, the Chaos mage noticed something that had caught his attention, and needed validating.

'it is not worth it...', this time the voice seemed to sound feminine.

A Winter Masquerade Ball (social) Empty Re: A Winter Masquerade Ball (social)

Post by Nessa Cordelia Lux 9th December 2018, 10:32 am

Nessa sipped on her champagne, glancing around the room. Everyone in the room looked so pleasant, and the music was lively. Part of Nessa wanted to just jump straight in a start dancing but it felt like with was a little too soon for that. Maybe later, once she found someone she recognised, once the party really got into the swing of things. She lowered her mask slightly, fiddling with it for a moment before raising it up once more to cover her face. A part of her wished Arcadia was here; she always managed to have a good time with the Ice Dragon Slayer. There was also Aven, although things were still a bit weird around him. Despite the fact she was trying to be cool and come to terms with his feelings for her. It was still such a big thing to wrap your head around. Your best friend being in love with you, and not actually being sure if you felt the same or even could feel the same was a tough one. The last thing she wanted to do was break Aven's heart, but emotionally she didn't know if she was ready for a relationship.

There was that time a few months back when she had allowed herself to be close to a guy, but that had been drunken foolishness. Besides, it wasn't like he was around anymore. Maybe they just hadn't come across each other, or perhaps he had left the guild and not told them, she didn't know. At the very least she didn't have to deal with the consequences of that night, the only person who knew about it, after all, was Arcadia, and it wasn't like she was going to gossip about it. Nessa trusted her, as long as Nessa didn't bring it up, that little secret would remain buried in the past, where it belonged.

Moments later she was joined by a small child in a black dragon mask, and when she heard his voice, she instantly knew who it was. "Hey Sol, I've been good thank you. Just working, as usual, how about you?" She asked, the vice president of the West Fiore trading company. A blonde haired girl soon joined after; she introduced herself as Lucy, Nessa smiled in response. "I'm Nessa, I'm one of the Aces of Fairy Tail, It seems I received an honorary invitation to come tonight, for which I'm very thankful." She said glancing back at Sol, although she wasn't completely sure why she had been invited to the event. From the looks of it, the event was mainly for members of the West Fiore Trading Company. She wondered if there was an alternate reason for her invite, or if she was just invited as a representation of their alliance to Fairy Tail. She didn't mind; she had interacted with multiple members of the West Fiore Trading Company by now, some of them even a few times.

    My Light...

Hair up in a pony-tail, swaying too and fro around her dress, the blonde haired girl leaned back into the corner of the second-floor balcony. There were people all around her and she wasn't a huge people person.

    Why was she there then?

It was her first winter guild party. Well, the first one she had been able to go to. She wanted to make a good impression even though many of the people there she wouldn't know, nor would they know her.

So there she stood. Alone. With a small glass of cranberry juice.

She had been at the party for only a couple minutes and immediately she had found herself in a corner. Too bad she wasn't a social person.

Her dress shuffled around her feel, brushing across the top of them as she moved from foot to foot in unsuppressed anxiousness. She had given herself an hour to be there, and if nothing happened then she would leave.

    ...shines for you

Leona finished her glass of water and set it down. She was not sure of what to do or how to act, but her boredom was starting to overwhelm her apprehension. The blonde decided to pick someone out and speak to them. Maybe she could learn the purpose of the winter masquerade ball.

Leona spotted a girl with distinctive white hair who was most likely Nessa Cordelia Lux. Next to her was a small child who looked somehow familiar. Leona could not quite place him, but he was familiar. The Silver Wolf Guild Master walked over to the pair and spoke to them.

"Hi there. Does anyone know what the purpose of this ball is?" Leona asked. That question sounded so ungrateful. It made her sound like she was bored with anything that did not involve fighting or traveling.

"Don't get me wrong. I'm glad to be here and it's a welcome change from constant fighting. I'm just wondering if there's another reason for all of us to be here." Leona quickly added, her face turning beet-red in embarrassment. It was a good thing that the mask covered almost all of Leona's face. She had probably just torpedoed any chances of getting invited to future social events.

Johann sighed, inelegantly shoving his invitation into the man's stretched out hand and pushing past him, opening the door to the ballroom. It was remarkable how elegant they had managed to make this old event hall, the space they now used for this winter ball serving its purpose quite nicely. Jo was dressed adequately, considering the occasion, dressed in a simple white suit and wearing a simple, black mask, though still unsure what was the point of this ball. He had more important things to take care of and think about right now, the recently completed mission in the Cursed Lands drawing his attention, no, not just his attention, their attention to the mysterious voice that had spoken from the mage of Fairy Tail, Markus. He hoped he would find him for a short talk later, but for now ...

Making his way into the ballroom, he looked around, his gaze swerving over the people already there. Some he recognized by looks alone, some he recognized by their scent, some he was entirely unfamiliar with. Well, he had to be present as one of the Vice Presidents of the West Fiore Trading Company, show engagement and all, talk to people, and so naturally what the silver haired man did was head straight to the buffet, grabbing a plate and filling it with a selection of different meats and salad before heading to the bar. Giving out the occasional nod of acknowledgement on the way, he took a seat, flashing the guild pin that signified his rank, a drink in his hands just a few seconds later. Whiskey. A double. Not like it would matter anyway. He downed the glass in one sweep. For a moment he anticipated the instant rush, the instant kick of the alcohol and the sharp burning sensation, but ... nothing. "Not like that would change at all" he chuckled to himself. "Another one" he spoke briefly before another drink would be passed his way.

It had been something that had been planned for as long as he had been in the company, finally it had come to fruition the winter masquerade ball. This was something that was often only done for the members of the company so they knew just how appreciated all their hard work was, and with business booming each member of the company had gotten a healthy bonus which they seemed to enjoy. This time however the young CEO had decided that this year should be a little bit different given that they now had an alliance with two other guilds and so had given instructions that a formal invite be sent to two of their members so they may be representatives enjoying the winter wonderland, but Ruvel had then realised that he was still so small and would stick out like a sore thumb and so had sent a personal invitation to the Fairytail mage Arcadia. He truly hoped he would see her again after all their last meeting was during a the crystal moon blossom festival, after she had tried to scale the company wall to bungee jump off the roof and had been declined he had offered her to go with him.

By the time he entered the ball the music was in full swing, he still had his blonde hair and was wearing a white and ice blue suit, he wore an ornate ice blue and silver mask that covered his eyes. At his left stood Demi hair beautifully done up in an oriental design wearing a white and lavender blush hanfu, she wore a half kitsune mask on her face to hide who she was, On the right stook Oykai whom just refused to dress up or wear a mask. To him this was business as he was chosen guardian for the night, however he didn't see the reason he had to be here given his twin sister was and could do the same job. None the less he had been told to come here by his eldest cousin and thus done so though moved to be within the shadows hidden watching the goings on. Ruvel walked through the hall and smiled seeing everyone enjoying themselves, chuckling lightly seeing that Ada had indeed went to get a dress and was wearing it. He guessed she really did dislike gardening he decided to do something a little special "Seyuki" he whispered bringing out a charm throwing it on the ground, within a moment the area was covered in a light dusting of snow. The kimono clad summon appeared beside her summoner ice blue hair and eyes looking at him "What would the stars like from the snow" she asked though understood he didn't understand. Ruvel brought up his hands and made motion for it to snow, nodding she understood and within the building very faint snow started to fall though it would vanish before hitting the floor for everyone's safety.

Amalie nursed the brandy in front of her, staring down at it lost in thought. She had been standing here and while and already finished at least one cherry brandy before ordering and receiving a second.  This would probably be a good time to approach someone; she glanced around the room. Everyone was wearing a damn mask, so knowing who she would be talking to was difficult until she heard them speak. So spotted what looked like a small child with a Dragon mask and assumed that was probably Sol from his size and choice of mask, it was relatively easy to deduce. She considered walking over to the Vice President, but after reviewing the crowd around him, she decided against it. There were just too many unknown variables there, and at least one of those people was bound to be annoying. She threw her head back and sighed, if she didn't find something worth doing, this whole night was going to be a drag.

She glanced down the bar, seating a little bit away from her was an individual with silver-hair and a black mask. She narrowed her eyes a fraction, glancing down at the symbolic pin on his white suit. Despite the mask, it wasn't difficult to assume who it was. Now, this was a coincidence, here she was debating the predicament she faced, and one of the key factors that had left her confused was seated only metres away. She glanced around once more; there didn't seem like anyone else more interesting to talk to. She pushed over against the bar, she walked towards him, before sliding into the seat next to him. Maybe this would be a good time to try and find out more information about whatever it was that she was going to. She had hoped watching his fight back at the Fairy Festival would give her information. Unfortunately, due to that magical barrier around the arena, she hadn't truly got a sense of it. So she couldn't necessarily rule him out as one of the causes of her loss of control. She leaned back against the bar, taking a slow sip of her cherry brandy. She tilted her head back and glanced over at Johann, "See now that's not much of a disguise," She said to him, a small smirk on her lips.

    Markus Eldridge

    Notes:

    The Winter Ball

Markus walked slowly passing between various mages and servers, his eyes were locked forward, towards his destination. A group of five mages, only one of which the chaos mage recognized. He could see in the distance a female with a glorious purple dress, and white hair, with a purple floral masquerade mask. The last time he had saw her was in Magnolia during the Fairy Festival.

At that time the chaos mage had avoided the starlight maiden, and kept his distance. He had been temped, for a brief moment of course, to approach her as the festival started to close, but the mage was not yet ready for such a… emotional situation. A romantic festival was certainly not the correct time to have this conversation to be had, and the mage did not wish to ruin the joyous festival.

Suddenly Markus watched as a light snow started to fall to the ground, making the already formal occasion take on a very magical feel. The mage watched in interest as the snow melted long before coating the ground making sure dancing was not dangerous. It was as if fate wanted to make this meeting all the harder.

Taking another step forward the chaos mage saw something in the corner of his eye which peaked his attention, and suddenly he decided to deviate from his course. He was still not sure how to approach the topic. However he knew if Nessa was here, then she like him was invited as a representative of Fairy Tail… Which probably meant there was no avoiding their meeting.

That however did not mean he couldn’t avoid it for just a moment longer. Stepping forward the chaos mage walked up the Johann, the Vice President of the West Fiore Trading Company. With a smile he stepped next to the man and looked at the bartender. “I’ll take a double as well.” The mage said with a sigh before turning towards Johann and Amalie.

“It is good to see you both again.” He said simply, before addressing his reason for coming here. “Johann, thank you for the invite. This is… certainly not what I am used to. However, I am happy to represent Fairy Tail” Markus looked down at his drink, and shot it strait, before looking again at the mages. “Anyways, I will leave it to you. It seems I should go and speak with my guild mate.” Markus said before excusing himself, perhaps the drink will make this a little easier. However, the chaos mage doubted it.

‘We both know she is safer, now that you are out of her life…’
, Markus paused just a few meter from the group. His nerve close to giving out. Markus was not one to handle conflict, especially not emotional or social situations.

Finally signing Markus stepped up to the group. He wondered if she would recognize him with how much time had passed. He knew he had changed greatly, but he felt his core features were still there. Placing a light hand on her shoulder the chaos mage spoke.

“I am sorry to interrupt.” He said to the group, “But, may I excuse my guildmate for a minute?” Markus did not wait for them to reply and turned towards the starlight maiden, adopting his grin which luckily had not changed much despite all of the other major changes to his appearance. His eyes however held something new, currently they would flash with uncertainty.

Markus held up his hand. “Would you mind a dance?”

Key stood behind the bar, handing out drinks as they were ordered. He was dressed in a gray vest with a red necktie. A black jacket lay open to allow him the freedom of movement while his hands were covered in thin white gloves. A plain white half mask hid his face from the world. The redhead wasn't quite sure why he'd ended up behind the bar. Perhaps because he was more comfortable here than out on the floor mingling. He had memories of these kinds of events. None of them were particularly pleasant. The blood mage kept them at bay by busying himself with his work.

Kyran glanced at the clock after handing a mage in white his order. Time for the next part of this ball. Kyran had promised someone - he couldn't remember who exactly - that he would sing tonight. Now was when the band members had slotted his solo. Knock 'em dead, mate! Medea purred as the redhead handed off the bar to another mage. He made his way up on stage, grabbing a guitar as he went. Thank his parents, the evil bastards that they were, for forcing him to learn an instrument. It was a useful skill, one of many they'd forced on him. Perhapssss they weren't sssso bad? Malinda input as Key tuned the guitar. He turned his face away from the crowd and scowled. Stupid snake.

Stepping up to the mike, the blood mage let the crowd disappear. He envisioned his girlfriend, Gaia, floating just before him. This song was for her. "Stay with me, baby stay with me." Kyran sang, letting his music come from the heart. The musicians behind him twined their music with the notes floating from his guitar. "Tonight don't leave me... alone" Imagining Gaia helped Kyran forget he was singing for a crowd, for a ball. This was a ballad to her, wherever she might be tonight. That woman held his heart and the words he sang tonight were an expression of his love for her. He let his love overflow into his music. Perhaps one day he would sing for her. Perhaps, one day, that little blue book in his pocket would be handed over to the amazing mage along with a ring chosen specially for her. But tonight. Tonight the blood mage let his love be expressed in music to a crowd of masked strangers.
