" Screw it" He finishes his drink then straighten himself out and walked over to the girl in the white mask with the blue dress, he didn't have a lot of people skills be he won't let that stop him,"Hello miss, would you care to dance. Its quite a lovely night for one." In his mind he was actually screaming like he just light the fuse on a bomb and can't put it down or defuse it. Lucky for him he had a full mask on so even if his faced showed it, no one could see his face with the mask on."Or is madam a bit shy, I can understand if you might be a little nervous about dancing with someone whose face you can not see."

Re: A Winter Masquerade Ball (social)
Winter came to the winter masquerade ball or it came outside the Event Hall. An elephant-sized juvenile dragon made of pure living ice descended from the sky. Snow flurries swirled and traveled with her.
The juvenile ice dragon landed as softly as 17 tons of nearly solid ice could, perhaps rattling any windows in the nearest wall of the Event Hall. Folding in her wings, the juvenile ice dragon reverted to her more familiar human form, though she still appeared to be only 5 years old. Little Arcadia smoothed down the icy blue, sleeveless gown she wore, her long pale blonde hair was pinned up in a bow-style bun. She still went barefoot.
The snow flurries cleared up as soon as she returned to human form. So with clearing skies, Little Arcadia headed inside She shoed her invitation from the CEO. She knew she wasn't one of the official repesentives, but the littlest slayer was still extra excited. She did her best to respect the more formal setting, so she did not shout out to anyone she knew upon entering. The smol slayer giggled with her barely contained excitement. Crowds would never be her thing, but she was just oo enthused to think about it. Spotting Nessa across the hall, she hopped and waved two hands in front of herself, practically beaming from ear to ear.
Spotting Johann somewhere across the room, she held up a small hand in the shaka or 'hang loose' sign where the thumb and pink are both extended and all other fingers are curled in. There were a number of people she recognized, more than she certainly expected. When her faerie green eyes spotted Leona, the little slayer hopped excitedly and waved. She wanted so much to go and say hi to them all, but she was Ruvel's guest, so she ought to seek the smol CEO out first.
Further inside, she spotted a fellow ice dragon, Haraka. Little Arcadia smiled brightly and waved excitedly. Thinking of dragons she realized Sol had been near her big sister. Turning back, she waved happily over to the Dragon King. Her slow walk and search for Ruvel paused at the sight of Markus. There was something familiar about him, but she couldn't quite put her finger on it. Lookedlike he knew Nessa though. She shrugged off for now, and continued her search, and finally she saw Ruvel. The barefoot slayer hurried over greeting the CEO with a hug. Thenshe remembered herself, stepping back with a slight and brief blush. Sorry, Ruvie. It's good ta see ya gain, and thanks for inviting me. I don't think I've been to something like this... that I didn't throw, since a royal ball back in Dragnof."

Re: A Winter Masquerade Ball (social)
The group found themselves with another addition as Leona joined them, Nessa smiled as she recognised the guild master of Silver Wolf straight away. "Hey Leona, I'm assuming we're just here to represent the alliance, I don't think there's much more to it than just catching a break and spending time together." She said in an attempt to answer her query. It did seem a little odd that so few members of the alliance were invited. She was surprised herself that she had received an invite over Sorano. Although that wasn't to say Sorano hadn't been invited, perhaps she had just been busy. Nessa wasn't really sure what her Guild Master got up to in her spare time, she was a bit of an enigma that way. Nessa spotted a familiar looking small blonde girl in the distance and grinned. Recognising her close friend, and her fellow ace. So it seemed she wasn't the only fairy here, that was a reassuring thought. She eyed the small blonde child she was talking to and wondered who it was, Arcadia seemed pretty well acquainted with them from the looks of it. Nessa glanced around a soft sprinkle of snow began to fall, it was a beautiful aesthetic, although it was good Nessa wasn't in need of her magic. This sort of thing had the tendency to dull her Starlight.
There was a soft touch on her shoulder, she turned to look, coming face to face with a man. He had red hair and a black mask over his eyes. She paused confused, wondering who he was as he addressed the group, asking her for a dance. She glanced back at the group, a little surprised, before looking back. She was about to say something casually and friendly along the lines of 'Sure, maybe just one...' but then her eyes fell on that smirk. A sense of nostalgia filled her, her eyes crawled back up to his, There was a pause, a small intake of breath, as an uncertain suspicion slipped in. "Um... yes," She said softly, unable to take away her gaze from his, "Sorry guys, please excuse me," She said, as she made her way with him over to the dancefloor. As she turned to face him, she looked down for a moment, gulping. Is it really him? She thought in uncertainty. Then slowly she raised her face, and lifted her arms, placing them on his shoulders and around his neck, gripping the handle of her mask.
Her pulse was racing, as she looked into those eyes she found herself become certain, this was Markus. The guy that had stepped onto the stage, begun singing a slow love song. She began to move along to it, there was a moment. How was she supposed to greet him? He had been missing all this time, and without a word to her. But it wasn't like she had looked for him, not extensively at least. There had been the occasional glance around the guild hall every now and then, but the red-head had never been there. Had he even thought of her at all? She took a shaky breath, "Markus." She said, it wasn't so much a question but a confirmation. The closer she stood the more certain she was, it was him, the way he stood, even his aroma, it was all so familiar. It wasn't the most ideal way to reunite, being so close to him, all the memories flooding back of the last time they had seen each other. Of being lost in a moment so intimate that a part of Nessa wasn't even sure it was real. There were so many questions she wanted to ask, but she didn't know where to start. Finally, she spoke, her voice not much louder than a whisper, "Where have you been?"

Re: A Winter Masquerade Ball (social)
Panacea twirled the invitation between her fingers, considering her options. The obvious answer would be to go to this ball, given that as a member of the West Fiore Trading Company it would appear rude to decline. There was also the possibility that she would enjoy herself. While not some shut in who prioritized studying above everything else Panacea was nonetheless not someone known for having a lot of fun. Most of her joy came from quiet moments of alone time in which she read books or dreamed or... well, several options really.
However if she were to go she would also feel a bit foolish. A mask wasn't going to hide one lamia amidst an entire ballroom filled with people who had two legs. Of course outsiders wouldn't recognize her but all other members of the company would just see her as the snake lady. There was also the fact that without feet she couldn't exactly dance the same way that the two-legged people could, which also limited her options.
On the other hand, there weren't a lot of these opportunities to get out and maybe get to know some new people. The white lamia went to her closet and began to dig through her clothing, trying to find something suitable for a semi-formal ball. She'd have to buy a mask on the way there since she didn't have one at hand, and most of her outfits were either too informal or too drab. It took quite some digging before she pulled out something which should make the right impression, a red dress with golden decorations that was tied at her side with several red strings. Easy to put on, especially for someone with a long tail. Dressing herself quickly Panacea looked at herself in the mirror, putting on a red mantle with white fur lining that helped fight back the cold of the season and worked well together with the rest of her outfit.
Arriving at the ball Panacea quickly handed her invitation over to the gatekeeper, slithering her way inside while taking care to avoid accidentally tripping anyone with her tail. Most people had the awareness to avoid being tripped under normal circumstances, but once you were in a crowd all bets were off. The memories of having her tail get stepped on by people who were hurrying or otherwise distracted almost made her wince before she shook her head and focused on the present, red eyes taking in the scene before her.
The masquerade was already in full swing by the time of her entry, most participants already having formed small groups to converse in or dancing in pairs. The white serpentess didn't mind this overmuch, as she'd rather take in the scenery for a while before she concerned herself with socializing. Above the air was filled with magical snow, which left her staring for several seconds before someone's boot brushing against her tail reminded her to get away from the doors to minimize the chances of any accidents.
Looking around she noticed that near the bar it was relatively calm, even though there were already a couple of people enjoying the alcoholic beverages presented for the event. With a series of "Excuse me." and "Pardon." she made her way through the crowds, her tail forming a sinuous trail behind her before she reached the bar, where she gratefully eased herself onto one of the bar stools, her tail coiling around the legs to minimize the space she took up. She nodded at the others who were already present at the bar before her gaze turned back outwards towards the rest of the ball, her red and white mask hiding the upper portion of her face even if it did little to hide... well, anything relevant really.
"There are both more and less people than I was expecting." She mused idly, not completely paying attention to whether anyone was listening as she supported one elbow with a hand and rested her chin on the other hand, the tip of her tail idly flicking with a soft jingling from the tiny adornments she'd wrapped around it.
Akeya really wasn't sure whether she'd be able to act as the much more sociable and friendly Panacea for the entire duration of the ballroom, but after all the troubles she had to deal with in recent months she'd rather spend her time testing her patience. It might get on her nerves but at least it didn't force her into suicidally stupid ideas.
The fact that said suicidally stupid idea worked out in no way compensated for the sheer stupidity.

Leona watched as a guy in a nice black suit with a red tie and a white and red fox mask approach her. What he asked surprised her. He actually wanted to dance with her. The blonde was not sure how to react to that. She was not a very good dancer... in fact, she had not even danced before tonight.
"I can try to dance with you. I'll be honest. I've never danced with anyone before tonight." Leona said to the fellow. She did not want to hurt his feelings because he was part of the alliance. She also did not want to get his hopes up. She was a fighter and adventurer, not a dancer.

"Do not worry madam, I will help you walk though it. It quiet simple and easy to learn" He smiled but again, the mask covered it up, he took her hand and lead her to the dancing floor. He then starts teaching her some of the basic ballroom dancing steps, he soon said,"Guessing you probably are more of the adventuring type, not much for a ballroom scene are you?" He say that to try to make her feel more conferrable around him, one of the many things his mother had taught him when dancing with a lady. She had said to study the lady on how she dressed, how she speaks and how she presents herself to find ways to make the lady more conferrable around him. From what he can gather, she seemed to be a girl that might have grown up in a small village, so he can guess she travels a lot making her a adventures woman.

Sol smiled a bit when he saw Lucy approached and he bowed to her in greeting. “she is indeed one of our allies Lucy this is Nessa Lux and Nessa this is Lucy she just recently joined the company” he explained as he heard Nessa greet him as well and he shrugged before he took a drink.” I have been good as well thankfully the ability to make clones makes paperwork so much faster then usual” he joked since he tended to use his shadowy clones to spread the paperwork out and make it easier on himself and got him out of his office that much quicker.
As Yona approached and lightly teased him the dragon simply smirked at her under his mask.” I always look good Yona though the mask matters not im certain any of you would know me even if I had a holloween mask on” he joked with a chuckle.” Considering how much you drink Ada I half expect to find a keg stashed here somewhere” he teased before he motiined for Lucy to Follow him and the Dragon headed towards Johann his fellow VP.”Oi Johann your looking good tonight” he said as he approached the man.

Re: A Winter Masquerade Ball (social)
When Leona received the guy's assurance that he could teach her a few quick and simple dance steps, she decided to go for it. She would take one for the team. Even if she ended up looking like she had two left feet, at least she made the effort. No one could fault her for that.
"I'm from Desierto. We didn't have much time to learn to dance since every day was spent on survival. Farming in a desert's pretty hard. You have to work hard every day just to break even." Leona explained a small part of her story to the guy while following the steps he was showing her. It was something of a challenge, but with enough repetition, she would get the steps down. The only concern was wearing out his patience before she learned them.

Notes:The Winter Ball
The chaos mage waited patiently as she processed what was going on. For a split second, he was worried she would turn him down. Perhaps, not recognizing her, or even worse having already forgotten about him. Yet, after small intake of breath she responded softly, excusing herself from the group of mages and joining him on the dance floor.
Markus, as always was calculating when he proceeded and this dance and interaction would be no different for the chaos mage. He knew the two of them were invited as guests, and they each had to respond as such, Nessa even more so than him with her position. As such, he was certain not to push her, not to test her, not to risk whatever remained. As Markus felt her arms wrap around his body, the chaos mage did the same. Placing his hand above her hip and on her side, closer to the small of her back than towards her hip itself, a move that was generally considered more friendly than flirtation.
The chaos mage cocked his head to the side, but said nothing when a man started singing on stage. First the snow, then the love song. Without saying anything the chaos mage let the worry slip from his mind. One way or another he would have what he came for and the two mages would get closure if nothing else. Markus watched her eyes, the movements she made and the realization come across her face, confirming her suspicion. The entire time, the chaos mage was silent moving to the music. His face was blank, but his eyes as always were calm, and watching.
As she processed, the chaos mage planned. He expected questions, and knew some answers would not be easy. More so however, he knew many of them would have to wait. Markus wanted to tell her, but until the time was right, or the setting was better. It would be for the best. Upon hearing her speak Markus did something very… uncharacteristic, at least as far as the female mage would have been concerned. His eyes lit, and he nodded. So she had not forgotten him, and by her tone perhaps she even worried. At that moment, the chaos mage decided. The first thing he said to her would be the truth, no matter what else he had to tell her. She deserved that much for everything she had done, even if she would never know.
Still silent Markus waited for the mere moments she took to decide what to ask, each passing one feeling like Void, endless, timeless. Finally she spoke, his heightened slayer senses having no issue picking up the words, despite how quietly she had spoken. Suddenly, the mage smiled. Not like the one he had given her at the waterfall. No, this smile was real, genuine; not really a smile to be characterized it summed much of what the mage felt, joy and relief, fear and more. In truth, it was nothing more than a ghost of an expression, a slight curve of the lips with a shift in the eyes. For the chaos mage, it might as well have been an exclamation. Still however, he was silent. Contemplating. Debating. Only moments passed before he told her the truth, the one that mattered most to him.
“I missed you.” The words were soft, clear, and concise. There were no theatrics, no added emotion, no tears, and no unneeded reasons. The words were as true to Markus as they could be. The mage looked away for a split second before speaking again.
“I have been… a lot of places. However, much of that tale will have to wait for a better setting. Most recently however, I was in Fat Monsterland… It was while there Johann informed me of this event, and asked me to come.” Markus knew that did not really answer her question, but it was something, and so far it was still the truth.
“I did not know you would be here.” Markus was unsure how she would take it, but again he was determined to remain honest with the Starlight Maiden.
“You have… Congratulations. Wizards Saint, it is a great honor, and Ace as well…” Markus was unsure how to continue. There was much he wanted to say, and even more he feared. “The way at which you delivered your insight at the fights was impressive, and your magic has grown tremendously.” The chaos mage could feel her power, her radiance, her light. He thought back to her sitting atop him, warming and drying both of their soaked garments. It did not cross the chaos mages mind that he had just admitted to being at the festival.

"I can understand that your past made it difficult to learn things like dancing and stuff like that, shouldn't be ashamed of that. From where i'm from, my culture is divided into two since our goddess was divided into two oh so long ago. From my side, we are expected to teach our children and grandchildren everything know and so does our spouses, you had to teach them at a very young age while the tension from the division only got worse. Sorry if I am boring you, don't get a lot of time for interactions with people." This was true since he travels a lot normally not staying in the same place for long but that change when he joined the company.

Re: A Winter Masquerade Ball (social)
Markus's silence was only making her more nervous; he was waiting patiently waiting for her to say something. Finally, his spoke, saying words she was not expecting him to say. Her violet eyes widened. The effect of his words hit her hard. He had missed her. At least that was what he was saying. From what she remembered Markus wasn't one to lie, but the comment was so unexpected that she was even more thrown by it. She didn't know what to say, what could she say? Saying that she missed him too felt like too much, it felt like Nessa would be acknowledging something she wasn't quite ready for. Even if they were friends, considering her last memory with him, it just felt like she needed to tread carefully with her words. "You look..." She began, he looked good, really good. As handsome as she remembered, maybe even more so. But she wasn't about to admit that. "...different." He seemed to have changed so much, they had only been about four months, his hair was surprisingly long, and he looked a little more mature. His skin was a little lighter than she remembered, and his face slightly thinner.
He went on the explain where he had been, a vague response to start with, she had assumed he was travelling, so that wasn't much of a surprise. She was surprised to hear that he knew of Johann, although with the alliance, it wasn't so farfetched really. "Yeah, I wasn't exactly expecting you either." She said, shaking her head with a small grin, she had not a single idea. She had no clue, he and Johann knew each other, so a ball hosted by the West Fiore Trading Company was the last place she would have expected to run into him.
She flushed slightly at his compliment, "Thanks... It's kind of a blur, I've been pretty busy since you left, next thing you know Sorano made me an Ace, and then I got this call summoning me to the magic council... and the rest is well..." Her voice drifted off, she didn't really need to explain the rest. She didn't really feel deserving of the role, but it seemed that someone or at least a few people did. It was strange because although she always wanted to be a wizard saint, she just felt like she would have had to work much harder for it. She just felt like, even though she was a saint in name, she had yet to earn its honest stature. "You were at the festival..." Again, not a question but a confirmation. To think he had been there, watching, listening, and she had no idea. It was mildly frustrating. "How long have you been back?" She asked, trying to mask how flustered she was in her tone. She found herself wondering if he had been avoiding her, having been so close and yet only deciding to approach her now. Did it have something to do with how they had left things? But that didn't make sense, if he missed her surely, he would have wanted to reach out. It was just a lot to process.

Notes:The Winter Ball
Markus kept an eye on the female mage watching her eyes, her expressions, her demeaner. So far, things were going well far better than the chaos mage had originally expected. He listened as she spoke, and hesitated.. he paused and cocked his head, wondering what she would have said. He assumed she was angry, after all why wouldn’t she be. In the end, the chaos mage decided it did not matter. Taking a breath he said nothing to her stating he was different, after all it was the truth. He had certainly changed, but four years could definitely do that for you. Though, the Starlight Maiden seemed to be doing very well with the years. Her every feature looked just as beautiful as he had remembered.
When the chaos mage first left Magnolia, and Fiore he did not even second guess leaving. After all they had only the night, and a few passing memories before that. Markus had never been one to… stay, not long, and certainly not till the morning after. Yet, after his… torment, he had started to look at that memory in a different light. Perhaps that was why this meeting was so important to him.
He closed his eyes, once more forcing that night from his mind as she spoke up. So, it seemed none of the invitees were informed of the other guests, Markus was surprised that no one else he knew from Fairy Tail was around. Perhaps him and Nessa were invited for a reason. Either way, the chaos mage was pleasantly surprised with the outcome, and the situation.
He listened as she spoke of the guild, and her title. He was truly impressed, and gladdened by how well the mage had done for herself. She had done so well. “I am glad you are doing so well for yourself.”
Without saying anything Markus nodded when she made her statement. He realized too late what he had said, and obviously she had picked up on that fact. Markus guessed he would have to deal with it. “Not long… I informed Sorano about… two weeks ago. When I finished the job with Johann. Then I returned and met with a wizard Mythal. Though I asked both to let me return in my own time.”
Markus paused his mind questioning his motives. In the end, he knew the real reason why he did not tell her he was back. “I did not want to ruin your joyous mood… So I spent the rest of the festival at our waterfall.”

Leona listened to the guy's words. He spoke about a division among his people that had existed since time immemorial. The blonde could understand that. The people of the desert had been divided against one another since the beginning of the country. It boiled down to a clash of ideologies between the desert people and the people of the Tri-Counci city.
The city people thought that the desert villagers were boorish, ignorant people who banged rocks together all days. The desert people considered the city-dwellers soft and weak. There was no foreseeable end to that divide, not as long as both sides traded jabs concerning each side's perceived flaws.
"Yeah, I get what you're talking about. My culture's split in two as well. It's an ongoing argument between the desert people and the city people over whose lifestyle is superior." Leona said to the guy. The argument had been going long before she was born. It would likely continue long after she died.

"Though our cultures might be different, they seem to share some things in common so does many others. But for me I found it ridiculous and decided to travel, hoping to find a way to have my people stop fighting but I find myself wanting to do more." Soon the song had stopped playing and everyone seemed to disperse to chat with others," Seems our dance might be over, would you like to accompany me to the balcony." He needed to get outside somewhere so he can push his mask up and get some fresh air, the ballroom was a little stuffy for him and he didn't wanted to seem rude to the lady.

Re: A Winter Masquerade Ball (social)
Nessa listened as he went to explain that he had not been back long, two weeks he had returned to Magnolia. She had been pretty wrapped up in guild stuff, so perhaps that's why she was not aware. She was surprised Sorano knew about it and didn't say anything, but then again Sorano wants one to go about ranting about things. As for Mythal, well he didn't really know anything about Nessa and Markus's history, so why would he say anything. If Markus asked them to keep quiet about his, she understood that both of them were nice enough to respect his wishes.
He went on to explain that he had been at the waterfall, or rather as he had put it, their waterfall. She flushed slightly, had that been intentional? Nessa knew fall well that Markus wasn't capable of ever having romantic feelings for her? Did he mean it in the sense of friendship? A friendship that had once, and only once, dabbled in the possibility of more. Although that night had been entirely non-committal. They had agreed the next day not to mention it again, and Nessa had, for the most part, kept it from getting out to the guild. The only exception being that night when she had told Arcadia about it.
She wasn't exactly sure how to play this anymore, Markus was back, he had been back for two weeks and decided not to come to see her because of how busy she seemed. Or at least that was how it appeared. There was still the mystery of the night that had happened between them but was that even worth mentioning. "Markus," She began, unsure of how to word this. "As you said, a lot has happened since our last encounter. I'm an Ace now, and so... I need you to... I can't ..." She was struggling to word this, her cheeks were growing hotter by the minute. She glanced at his lips, those flashbacks returning. "We have to... act accordingly. What we did, it was fun, really fun but-" She sighed. This wasn't working; she couldn't get the words out. She took a moment, composing herself, she just needed to say it.
"I'm not the same girl you spent that night with four months ago, I'm not gonna let you get under my skin, not the way you did before." Because if there was anything she had to acknowledge that she had been weak to Markus, he had been good at getting her flustered and her attraction to him hadn't helped. She had to be stronger now, she had to resist such temptations.

Notes:The Winter Ball
Markus continued to dance though the song, careful not to move his hands from their original placement. The chaos mage wished only that this could continue. He found himself unexpectedly fearing for the loss of their relationship, any relationship, he enjoyed her friendship, she was the only person he had ever opened up to. The only person he had trusted sense his brother. He knew, with the four years of distance they had there was no doubt she had moved on from any chance of more, even as the chaos mage finally accepted that it could have been possible.
Markus watched her eyes as she thought, and breathed when she spoke to him. It seemed the mage was right, that was over between them, yet from the way she talked he was surprised to hear her pauses. Then, she finally said what she needed. She needed him to act accordingly, to respect her position. After all, she was an Ace, a leader of his guild. Besides, on top of that she was a Wizard Saint, one who had watched him kill. There was no place for him in her life…
Markus stopped moving all together when she said her last statement, and let go of the female mage. His eyes flashed of the torment he had once felt, a flash of chaotic darkness appeared in his pupils before he reigned it in. How… How had ‘she’ not told him. He knew years had passed, he remembered every second of it, every torment he had gone through, the well, the maze, Aporia, the Court of Chaos, Deaths Domain… for a second he felt overwhelmed before catching his breath. Yet…
“Four.. Four Months… but... it’s been years.” His words where a whisper as he looked at his hands. He cared not for those around him still dancing, they could move.
Then he looked into the female mages eyes once more. His own had gone blank, devoid of emotion. Once more he was in control. “I understand. Your Title must come with heavy burdens. I should not be another.” Markus took a step back, he would not vanish on her, not again, not when being a guest to such an event, but he certainly would let her do her job.

Re: A Winter Masquerade Ball (social)
"I don't particularly care for disguise either" Johann spoke, perhaps a little too harshly, to the woman that had sat down beside him. Amalie, one of his guild mates, had obviously tried to approach him with a light hearted joke. "Forgive me ...", he followed up, "... it's been rather hectic the recent few days", hoping that this would offer at least some form of explanation to his behaviour. He didn't know why he felt what he felt, or what exactly this feeling even was, akin to an acute nervousness that he, for some reason, could not rid himself of. Johann, the silver haired Vice President of the West Fiore Trading Company, could only speculate, though he had a pretty good idea of the source of his emotional distress. Mars had, after all, merged with him, his body, the two beings becoming one, their personalities, their bodies, even what they felt influencing the other in sometimes subtle, sometimes very direct ways. "You seem to be doing rather well for yourself" he replied briefly, his eyes going back to the drink before him.
He took another sip, almost fully emptying his glass, leaving only a small rest within. Opening his mouth once more, he figured he could use this time to address the things that had happened a short while ago on that job with the ominous Fairy Tail mage that, from the looks of things, harboured one of Mars' kin, and he would try to explain himself to her, unsure of her opinion of himself after what she had seen. The West Fiore Trading Company was a legitimate organisation and business, after all, and word of one of its Vice Presidents being possessed by ... well, something, wouldn't necessarily prove beneficial, perhaps even disastrous. Speaking but one word, "I-" he immediately stopped when another presence had gotten closer, the Lamia he had seen around the Company before occupying one of the seats at the bar, Johann closing his mouth again, turning his attention back to the drink before taking the last sip and placing the empty glass before himself. "I think this is a rather nice song, is it not", chuckling to himself without looking up. "Ah, Sol" he turned at the mention of his name, a quite forced smile spreading across his lips, giving his colleague a nod "Looking quite well yourself today. I hope you're having a good night ? Well, I was just about to head out for some fresh air, so I'll leave the bar to you", standing up from the bar stool he had sat on before, shooting Amalie a passing look as he started to make his way to a door at the site of the ball room. He just needed a little more ... quiet.

Adalinda
The Iron Dragon Slayer
When Sol had commented on how much she drank, she raised an eyebrow to him, before she rolled her eyes. "I can control myself... the wine and champagne should be enough to get me through the night..." She waved to him as he was going to take Lucy away before she went her own way.
Adalinda had taken a deep breath when Markus introduced himself, and she nodded a little, grabbing his hand unsurely. "I'm Adalinda, and that's Tamaria. We're from West Fiore Trading Company. I didn't know that you knew my fellow Vice President. Then again, I'm kinda of running around a bit." She felt like she was yammering. This wasn't her setting. What does one talk about in this setting? She clears her throat as she gives a nervous smile. "I bet you're probably a much better dancer than myself. I don't ever dance at balls... bars are another question." She can't help but chortle.
As the two danced, she tried to not step on his toes, and glanced over quite often at Tammy as she giggles to Ada even dancing with someone. All the while, Adalinda did kind of notice his discomfort, and clears her throat. "You know, you could have rejected a dance if you're not comfortable with it? I wouldn't of been hurt." She had danced with him till the end of the song, glancing to Tammy, who did a curtsey with her dress to let her slayer know that's what she should do, in which she did a small one to Markus. "Thanks for dancing with me... Hope you enjoy the rest of the ball. Please don't feel pressured to do something you don't want to here." She chuckles quietly before she glances to Tamaria, who just grinned at Ada and tried to look innocent.
She runs a hand through her hair slightly over her mask, and puts a hand on her hip. She swore she'll need to fight something soon after this to shake this weird feeling of being all 'girly' here. She stuck out her tongue as she glanced around the hall, just as snow begun to fall around the room. Some got on her tongue and she was utterly confused at the sight of it. When did she order magical snow for this shindig? She then noticed her CEO, and puffs her cheeks up as she crossed her arms over her chest before she went over to get herself a light drink of wine. She would have loved to get herself something stronger, but she promised herself she wouldn't tonight since it was an important event in a sense. After this was over, was another question though. She glanced over to the stage and snickers as she sees Kyran beginning to sing for the guests. She was honestly surprised he could sing well.
She turned her head towards the entrance as she smelled a new scent, but also one she felt she smelt before... It was another dragon, and a small smile was on her lips. People were still entering the hall, and she takes a deep breath as she sees the lamia member of the guild, and was rather impressed she could dress up rather nicely. Then again, there was her dressed up in a dress as well. "Ada, you should go talk to someone else... You are basically the host of the party." Tammy says as Veles was agreeing with her. She scoffs and makes her way to the bar. The wine wouldn't be enough. She looks to the bartender, who snorts and gives her a glass of a cocktail with dark rum and ginger beer over ice with a lime in it. She brings it to her lips and takes a rather big swing of it, not being affected by it as it was one drink. She glances over to Akeya, and gives her a small smile. "I hope you're enjoying yourself." She says as she glances over to Sol, who was over by Johann and Amalie. She wondered what exactly was bothering her fellow VP, but she didn't want to pry right now. She had been told to socialize, so might as well do so by the bar. She looks back towards the dance floor, wondering if there was something else she should do. Dancing was already done, and she was already talking to others... any entertainment she could provide, wouldn't be good for a ball...

Re: A Winter Masquerade Ball (social)
Amalie observed him with mild surprise as the response she recieved to her light-hearted teasing was rather abrupt. She cocked an eyebrow. Listening on as he proceeded to offer a seemingly unsincere apology. Amalie resisted the urge to roll her eyes, having heard the word ‘sorry’ so many times in her lifetime that it may as well changed in meaning. ‘Sorry Ama, mama can’t pick you up cause I got a guest comin’ you’ll be okay on your own’, ‘Sorry kid, but you’re mother hasn’t been able to make the last six payments on ya rent, I can’t do no more extensions, you’ll need to be out by friday’, and possibly the most frequent; ‘Sorry baby, I just get so mad sometimes, I didn’t mean it, I promise I won’t do it again’. The word carried nothing but a bitter relevation to Amalie, that those who said sorry, usually didn’t mean it. And Johann, wasn’t an exception.
Amalie said nothing as they were approached by Markus, another suspect in the game of who it was that was somehow screwing with her self control. She would need to speak to him too at some point depending on what she learned from Johann. She nodded at him as he said his bit a left. Amalie wanted to move on from the fluff talk, to get down the the real stuff. To address the matter on her mind, she got a sense that Johann, wasn’t exactly thrilled to be here. Or perhaps, it was the fact she had approached him. Did she bother the vice president in some way? Maybe he was concious of the possibility that she had overheard something she wasn’t supposed to? He went to speak, only to stop himself. Amalies eyes followed his gaze, observing the snake like woman that had seated themself nearby. He continued to down his drink and comment on the music. Amalies eyes narrowed slightly, she had no desire to discuss music at this moment in time, plus it wasn’t exactly to her taste anyway. ”Joh-“ Before she could even finish his name she found herself interrupted. It seemed that Sol had took it upon himself to approach them. Amalie would for but a moment squeeze her glass a little too tightly, creating a slight crack on the outside on the glass bowl. She watched silently as Johann greeted Sol, Amalie would offer the smaller Vice President a polite nod in greeting, despite considering his presence quite the inconvenience. She need to talk to this guy alone, which admittedly wouldn’t be easy at such an busy event. It was then that the Vice President, excused himself. Talking about getting some ‘fresh air’, he shot Amalie a look before disappearing.
There was a very crude part of Amalie’s mindset that did not want to follow him, purely because with the mood he was seemingly in. She wondered just how much information she would even get out of him, plus there was only so much attitude she could tolerate, even from a Vice President of her guild. Biting her tongue slightly. She placed her cracked glass on the bar, ”Another please, this has a crack in it.” She said in a blasé manner, as though she hadn’t been the one to chip it in the first place. Once she had a fresh glass in hand, she excused herself from the group. Heading the direction that he had left in, This man had better be worth it. She thought in irritation. Chasing someone down for a favour wasn’t exactly Amalie’s style, but she needed to know what was happening to her. Johann was a loose end.
She found the white-haired Vice President, she stopped a few steps behind him. No one else was in earshot. This was it, no more screwing around, she wanted answers. ”See the thing is Johann, You’re not the only individual who has had a rather hectic experience lately. I, myself, endured something rather unpleasant on a job recently. Followed by a curious conversation between my job partners, that left me somewhat perplexed. So if you wouldn’t mind enlightening me.” She would step closer, so she was right behind him, tiptoeing slightly so as to whisper in his ear. ”Just who is exactly is Mars?”

"Yeah, looks like the jig's up." Leona said to her dance partner. The dance floor was getting kind of crowded now that more Alliance mages had shown up. Maybe a change of venue was a good idea.
"Lead the way." Leona told the guy she was talking to. She had no idea where anything was in this place. It would be up to the guy to show her the way to their destination.

Cheshire, let the lady to what seemed to be a balcony and he takes his mask off so the cool winter night air can cool him off for the ball room was a tad to warm for his kind of mask. Since he took off his mask, it reveals his cat ears and his cat like eyes."Huh, made a error in wearing this mask, stores up heat fast." He turns and smiles at the girl,"Should of wear a more breathable mask to this ball."

Re: A Winter Masquerade Ball (social)
Nessa wasn't exactly sure what to expect of Markus's reaction, from what he remembered. Such a statement wouldn't bother him surely, not after everything he had told her about never being abl to find love in another. Even her. He had told her straight, she was attractive but that was where the line was drawn. Emotionally, she meant nothing to him. And although he seemed not to mind their intimate moment together that night, she needed to let him now that she would not do it again. For many reasons.
He stopped dancing, his eyes widening at her words. She was surprised, there was a moment there where she felt like Markus cared about what she had said. Although for reasons she had yet to realise. He spoke, mumbling something about it having been years since they last saw each other. Nessa frowned in confusion, "Markus, it's been four months, I'm pretty sure I would know if years had pass-" She stopped talking, her eyes widening. Just what has he been doing all this time... She wondered, she knew that magic worked in strange ways here, but for someone to be in a different timeline to her seemed so bizarre, yet it would explain why he looked so much older. She wanted to ask, her lips parted, But as he looked up at her, his face had returned to the cold, blank emotionally void expression she remembered from their past.
He responded with a short, stoic reply. A burden to her? What did he mean by that? "Markus. You're not a burden to me, that's not what I meant. You don't have to avoid me just because I'm an Ace. If anything this is a good thing," She said, trying to figure a way to reach through to him. "It's not like you could ever love me anyway, you said it yourself, this way...no one gets hurt." She told him, trying to forget the initial sting of those words when he had been the one telling her. She didn't know if she could ever love Markus, but if perhaps somehow feelings formed, she would just end up heartbroken. Which was a pain she was not ready to bear, not again. "I want to be able to move forward and work with you, as guildmates and maybe friends, if you so wish." She added the last part with a hopeful smile.

Panacea had chosen against drinking, despite her position at the bar. While she did have quite a good constitution she didn't have the ability to ignore the effects of alcohol like some other members of the company had, and she didn't want to end up shitfaced tonight. Given that this was supposed to be an opportunity both for the people of the company to unwind and to establish better bonds with the mage guilds that they had formed an alliance with having her act like a fool because she couldn't control her alcohol intake would not only be embarrassing, but potentially a serious issue. As such she remained seated with little to do at the moment but pay attention to her surroundings, the white-scaled lamia's red eyes slowly moving across the large room to take in the sights of the various participants of the ball interacting in various ways.
She noticed that the people sitting next to her at the bar stopped speaking once she arrived, which sparked her curiosity. She shot them a glance, but it quickly became clear that they weren't planning to keep talking so she just gave them a small wave before turning away, the only other sign of her curiosity being the tip of her tail tapping against the floor a couple of times, once more accompanied by a jingling from the adornments. Her expression was that of somewhat detached thoughtfulness, as if she was using this position to think things through rather than enjoy herself like most of the others present.
She was looking at the two people who were dancing with clear signs of not being used to it when another powerful presence arrived at the bar, causing Panacea to straighten up a bit and observe from what she hoped was a distance that they wouldn't pay too much attention to her. The new presence was that of a man wearing a black dragon mask, accompanied by a woman with a rather remarkable dress. The man had the aura of someone who was aware that he was powerful, a type of person Panacea wasn't very good at dealing with. They often were rather forceful and while she wasn't the type to look for trouble she couldn't help but become a little obstinate when she felt someone was being too pushy. Luckily for her he just wanted to greet one of the two who had been talking before, the man with the white hair. Said man quickly left after, joined by the woman he had been talking with and leaving Panacea wondering what was going on there. Given that apparently they didn't want to talk where they could be overheard it had to be something important... or private.
Dismissing the thought of following them and eavesdropping Panacea instead turned her attention back to the ballroom when someone sat down next to her and asked her how she was doing. Turning her head Panacea looked at Ada, who unlike her seemed fine with the idea of drinking. Quite a bit in one go, actually. The lamia gave a faint smile, shifting her weight so she was facing the hostess properly before answering. "Well, I'm not really the type for this kind of event, but the atmosphere is not bad and the music's good so I'd say I'm enjoying myself." She watched as Ada looked around, noticing how the woman didn't appear to be very enthusiastic herself. Panacea leaned backwards and rested her elbows on the bar, first glancing back up towards the magical snow before giving her own question to Ada.
"And are you enjoying yourself? You're the hostess but, forgive me if I'm wrong, you appear to not be into the spirit of things yourself." She wasn't entirely sure if it was against etiquette to talk about it so bluntly, but socializing was already difficult enough without second guessing literally every single thing you could say or do. Better to just try and hope you succeeded. Regardless of whether Ada immediately replied or not Panacea would shrug, motioning towards the people dancing in the middle of the ballroom. "Well, whether you are enjoying yourself or not I can't say I'd blame you. A lot of us mages are the more adventurous type, whereas this kind of event is more suited for true-blood merchants and high officials." She vaguely indicated herself. "Take me for instance. If left to my own devices I'd probably find myself a warm corner somewhere and go read a book." She motioned towards the long white tail wrapped around the barstool and chuckled. "It's not even like I can waltz."
While letting her Panacea persona do all the external work Akeya was crunching through some numbers and possibilities in her head. She didn't know too much about Ada, but she didn't seem like that troublesome a person. Panacea's inability to quietly comply with the more pushy types was a result of Akeya herself having trouble tolerating such nonsense, since even if she'd trained to make sure she could put on a convincing act of being someone else entirely it was hard for one to fight their instincts and strongest personality traits.
Thinking back at the previous balls she attended she had to pay extra attention to not letting her external behaviour show what she was thinking as she felt a pang of... she couldn't really call it heartbreak, but a kind of discomfort at the lack of a certain presence. Akryn hadn't been what she would call the ideal mate or companion, given his temper and noisiness, but back then she'd become somewhat used to having him around as the more extroverted soul who could get her to go out and do something while at the same time acting as the distraction behind which she could hide while quietly studying her surroundings.
Being at a ball without him made her wonder how he was doing. She had no idea where he had disappeared off to, but she hoped that at least he was still alive.

Notes:The Winter Ball
Markus was looking at the other mage, and listened as she spoke. He understood now… So much has happened between the two of them, yet everything she has been through was in such a short time. Markus found himself becoming much more impressed with how far she had come in such a rapid pace. His eyes were still calculating when he spoke.
“I… I have not been in Earthland. I can not go into details… Not yet but…” Markus reached up and grabbed his hair, then touched the scar on his neck. “I have been through a lot, and for me… It has been multiple years. Very… difficult years.” Markus was not trying to be vague, yet he still could not bring himself to talk about the events. It was so hard for him to remember back to the events within the void.
Taking a breath Markus listened to her talk, he had no plans to avoid her. At least… not because she is an Ace. “I have no issue with you being my Ace.” The chaos mage said softly, in fact he was more worried about her being a Wizard Saint, and him being one of the few Fairy Tail members who was sanctioned to act as a mercenary, and handle the more illicit jobs. However, he could not say that in this situation, so he kept his peace. Then, she continued talking…
‘But I could.’ Markus found himself wanting to say. Yet, he knew that would ruin any hope the two had, and destroy any barriers they were trying to set. Once more, the chaos mage kept his peace, and remembered what he saw in the well.
“You are right..” Markus said carefully, “This way, no one gets hurt.” Markus returned her smile, not with as much hope but still as a ghost of an expression. After all, the mage was still learning. “I am sure we will still work together, however I do better on missions… not suitable for a Wizard Saint.” The chaos mage said softly. Making absolutely certain that no one could hear him. The chaos mage had no doubt she, like him, knew of the basement.
