- Job Title: The Shrouded Stalker
Rank: D
Player Requirements: 500 Word Requirement. Must have completed The Unusual Weed first.
Job Requirements: Return to the Herbalist and hear what she has to say, as well as deal with the stalker.
Job Location: Beanstalk Village
Job Description: You have received a letter from the Herbalist, stating that she needs you to come immediately as she has done some research, and needs a wizard’s opinion on the matter. On the way to Beanstalk village you may or may not notice a figure cloaked in black, following you in the shadows. If you choose to assault him he will flee. If you catch up to him, he will defend himself. If you leave him be he will continue to follow you unseen. Along the way, you also notice one or two of those weeds you helped the herbalist collect not too long ago.
Once you reach the village the herbalist leads you into her home and begins to explain the plant. She tells you that it grows it's roots through literally anything, breaking down the physical material in order to spread. Once it has spread a good deal, it's roots sprout to the surface and begin to form into a new plant. While she explains this, the stalker will be listening through the walls. You must either kill, or arrest the stalker before this job can be completed. In the end, she decides to send this information to a friend of hers who is a scientist and a wizard, in order to get more information.
After killing or arresting him, you can check him for anything he has on him. If you do, you will discover a used match, and a silver coin with a skull on one side, and a hand on the other. Upon hearing about the stalker and your killing him, Herbalist will give you the jewel
Enemies:
Weak: The cloaked stalker carries no weapon and attempts to take you down with hand to hand combat. With each successful hit, he deals up to half your rank in damage. It takes three rank D hits to kill him.
Normal: The cloaked stalker wields a deadly dagger and appears to be proficiently skilled with the weapon, dealing up to your rank in damage. To kill him requires five rank D hits to kill him. Note that he is rather agile and evasive.
Strong: The cloaked stalker wields a black rapier designed to kill and is very fast, agile, evasive and precise with his blows. He can deal up to x2 of your rank in damage with each strike. It takes seven rank D attacks to kill him, if you can land a hit on him at all that is.
Reward: 1,000 Jewel

Some time after Samira had taken a job to collect some samples of a new dangerous plant that was growing in Beanstalk Village, she had unexpectantly gotten a request to come back to the village. For what reason she did not know, but it was the herbalist client from that same job that wanted to see her. She somewhat recalled being told that the herbalist would give her the findings of the research conducted with the samples, but honestly the summoner didn't take that seriously at the time. The job was just to collect samples and destroy some plants. Being a part of the research and caring about the results wasn't really what she had signed up for. Not that it wasn't interesting. It was just as far as she was concerned that needed to be left with the minds that actually knew what they were doing and could understand it all. To her, they were just plants. She was better at dealing with monsters, or magic, or even things that her former collegues and friends referred to as old junk, which were really things that could be traced to ancient times. Yet here she was, getting herself involved with plant research. Well, it wasn't as if she had anything better to do at that time anyway.
The walk to the herbalist's house was an easy one. She remembered the way. What she did not recall from the time before was getting the odd feeling that she was being followed. Granted, the last time she was there was during the day and not at night so maybe the village was always full of stalking creeps.
'You are being followed, girl.'
'I am aware.' Her response to the spirit was done mentally so as to not alert the person or being that was following her. She just kept moving along towards her intended destination.
'So the plan is to just ignore it and pretend it's not happening instead of sending him flying to the next country over. Good one.'
'I am not overly bothered by it, and the person has yet to do anything. Being followed is not a difficult thing to ignore when I am not worried.'
'Still kind of rude though. What if the stalker eavesdrops on you while you talk to that lady?'
'Unless her findings is about how to create a world ending plant monster I doubt plant science is anything remotely worth eavesdropping on. The stalker will probably leave to find something of better interest.'
'Unless the creep just waits for you to leave and keeps following after.'
'That too, I suppose.'

The mental conversation continued for a bit longer before it finally ceased once she reached the home of the herbalist. Although, even once she was inside it was clear the stalker was not going anywhere. That feeling was still there, and it was only further confirmed by the spirits that could feel it too. Samira played ignorant though to keep the herbalist from worrying, and as she had planned she wanted to ignore it until later.
The research on the new mysterious plant was explained to Samira. Still she wondered why it required her actually going there instead of the information being mailed or something. It sounded dangerous enough if left to go wild, but the plant could be easily dealt with by pretty much anyone. As the talk continued, the stalker had made the mistake of falling over or something while trying to listen in more closely. Samira didn't rightly know, and she didn't even bother to turn around in her seat to look in that direction. All she knew was that there was a loud crash and bang on the wall, along with some cursing. Some sneaky stalker.
Samira could only sigh as the herbalist almost had a heart attack and began to wonder what the noise was. Now she had no choice but to deal with it then. Well, not really. She herself could remain inside. Rather, she sent a spirit to deal with the stalker issue instead. "Do not worry. It was just someone that followed me here, and has already been dealt with."
One of the closed windows suddenly opened, and Amaterasu poked her head inside. "This one greatly amused me. It has been a while since someone tried to fight me at hand to hand combat. I expected a bit more though." The spirit giggled as she recalled the fight that only lasted as long as it did because she allowed it to. That fight lasting a about ten seconds instead of one. The stalker was just a weak pawn of something else. "Here you go!" Ama tossed the unconscious stalker through the window to now be inside the house.
"Ama! We do not want him in here! Tie him up outside or something!"
"Only if you toss him back outside for me to do so. This is a team effort."
In the end, the stalker was never tied up outside, but was instead tied to a table. And four chairs. And a vertical coat rack. And pretty much any other piece of furniture in the house. The herbalist may have been slightly paranoid and went to the extreme on making sure that he was not going anywhere but jail. Not unless he had the magic to cut through all the rope or go through it. Either way, the proper authorities showed up soon enough after Samira had sent a different spirit to fetch them. Once things had calmed down the herbalist informed Samira that she would be sending the research to a scientist friend of hers who was also a wizard. Why that couldn't be done in the first place was anyone's guess.
