Re: Bad Handwriting
After successfully completing three jobs in Hargeon Town, Diana had decided to take a break and do something other than work. She had heard about a place in Earthland set aside for Guildless mages called Ald Ruhn and was interested in at least checking the place out. She was thinking of checking the place out and maybe seeing if there was lodging for Guildless mages. Staying in even the least expensive lodging was beginning to eat into her Jewel count.
Dressed in a white long-sleeved button-up shirt with a navy blue knee-length skirt and navy blue shoes, Diana was sitting in a cafe by the harbor at mid-afternoon. She had ordered an iced tea and was halfway through it when she had gotten distracted by watching the luxury gambling boat Epicurean go out to sea for a gambling voyage. She was glad that she did not have to work there for the time being... having alcohol thrown in her face, having her chest fondled by a drunken woman, and cleaning up a toilet seat coated in "earth tones" were experiences she did not want to repeat any time soon. The job paid good money, but the blonde had had enough of that for awhile. At least a temporary job was always open if she needed a quick infusion of Jewels.
Diana wondered what life would have been like had she not been forced into being a contract killer by her family. Maybe she would have been happy to work on a gambling boat. Or maybe she would have worked in a library or even as a fashion model. There was no telling. There was no point in worrying about it now because her path had more or less been chosen for her.
It started when Diana was given her name. She was named after a divine huntress in the ancient mythology of a faraway land. It only got worse once her parents discovered her "gift" for being able to kill people with only a touch of her hand. After Diana accidentally killed a household servant at the age of 10 with her "gift" after an argument about what she was going to wear to a party, that was when the doors to other opportunities were forcibly closed to her. From that day forward she was the Winchester family hitwoman and nothing else.
Diana was roused from her unwanted reminiscing by a young male courier with a letter for her.
"Are you Diana Winchester?" The youth asked.
"Yes." She replied.
"I've got a letter for you. It's from someone, but they didn't give a name. They said you'd know who they were when you read the letter." The courier commented before handing over the letter.
"Thank you." Diana thanked the youth after receiving the letter and gave him a Jewel tip. He bowed in appreciation and left her to open the letter in peace. The blonde carefully opened it and read the contents. The words were scrawled in red ink and the letter was unsigned.
"We know you're still alive and in Earthland. We should have known that we didn't kill all the Winchesters that night. We'll find you and finish what we started four years ago!
Diana was not frightened by what she read in the brief missive. Rather, she was trying to remember who she had wronged enough for them to take vengeance on her family. There was a long list of people who had good reason to want the Winchesters dead. Narrowing down a name would take time. Diana folded up the letter and put it and the envelope in her pocket.
The blonde finished her iced tea and paid the waiter, then received her change. She then left the cafe and went to find Ald Ruhn and maybe get housing. She also had to be vigilant for attempts on her life by agents of the unknown person. So much for her break.
