Job Title: Monster Challenge Part 1
Rank: D
Player Requirements: 1-2 D rank mages or higher.
Solo Word Count: 500 Words
Group Word Count: 1000 Words
Job Requirements: Defeat the monster boss
Job Location: Anywhere within the Cursed Lands or Landforms
Job Description: One day you receive a random letter from a stranger you do not know. This person seems to be a mage, but it isn’t quite clear. The letter is a challenge that demands you defeat a powerful monster in order to prove yourself.
“Hey there, Rookie. I see you have done some jobs that make you seem like you’re an awesome mage. Well you’re nothing compared to me! If you want to prove just how great you are then I dare you to take out this monster. Bring a friend if you’re too scared!”
A picture of a monster is on the back of the letter.
Roll a normal dice to see which monster you must face. The dice roll is optional and for those that like a bit of random flavor. You are free to choose the monster yourself.
Enemies:
Boss:
If you chose to do a dice roll just match the listed number with the one you rolled.
1.
Gargoyle:
A very quick flying monster that can swipe its claws as it rushes forward in flight. At some point in battle the creature may land, turn to stone, and start to recover small amounts of hp.
2.
Troll:
Not only will you have to watch out for its clawed and bite attacks, you will also have to be aware and move when it curls up and charges you with its rollout attack.
3.
Flame Goblin:
Small but can be deadly. If not attacking with the knife then the flame goblin can turn his body completely into flame and dish out fire powered attacks.
4.
Orc:
A capable orc warrior with a mace and shield. It may look foolish but orcs are experienced fighters and can block attacks quite well.
5.
Ghoul:
A rotting creature of the undead. It will attack viciously with it’s sharp teeth and limbs but it can also summon smaller extra ghoul sidekicks to aid it in battle.
6.
Giant Spider:
A massive spider standing eight feet tall that will attack with its long spikey legs and sharp teeth. You may even find yourself web wrapped.

Re: Monster Challenge Part 1
Walking in the moonlight while clutching her sniper rifle and feeling the wind blow her hair about, Diana was on familiar turf when she came to the Abandoned Cabin. She had been here before to retrieve the golden necklace with the ruby pendant for the youth whose name she never learned. The last time she was here there were a dozen zombies standing just outside the cabin and a few more zombies inside the cabin, but tonight there were not any, which was quite strange. The blonde knelt and looked through her scope to see why that was.
A quick glance through the scope showed that something had killed and partially eaten the zombies. She did not know what creature would willingly prey on rotting corpses because most scavenging animals tended to keep clear of zombies unless they had been killed for a second time. She was not getting paid to ask questions about the undead. She was getting paid to bring in a dead animal for a mage who questioned her worth.
Diana lowered her rifle and looked all around her to make sure that no zombies were shambling towards her while she was distracted with looking straight ahead. Getting tunnel vision in the middle of zombie-infested territory was a good way to get eaten and join their ranks. Fortunately for the blonde, there were no walking corpses in the area to threaten her while she looked for the target. She switched to night vision and looked around the cabin for her quarry.

Re: Monster Challenge Part 1
Diana was seeing nothing in night vision, so she switched to infrared vision and soon picked up a large heat signature that could just barely be spotted behind the cabin. Diana raised her scope to get an aim on the target. Because she had sanction to do this job, she did not have to worry about poaching or being stopped at the border. All she had to do was kill it and drag it back as proof to the doubting mage that the blonde was not someone to dismiss. The only reason she was even doing this was to make the Cursed Lands just a tiny bit safer... and the money, so those were two reasons for taking the job.
Diana noticed small patches of scorched grass, so what she was targeting had to be a fire-based creature. It was a good thing that she did not have to get close to her target in order to kill it. The blonde dropped to a knee and waited until the target meandered from behind the cabin and to the front door. It was that moment where she saw her quarry. It was a red goblin with numerous yellow spikes that was almost the height of a grown man and looked vaguely like a dinosaur with a sword... it looked in her direction briefly, then turned its head away to look towards the woods.
While she had never seen anything like it before, that changed nothing. Diana was here to kill it and drag it back as proof and she was going to kill it before it even knew she was here. Lowering her rifle and looking around for zombies one last time, Diana confirmed that she was safe before aiming at the red creature's head.
She took a breath and slowly squeezed the trigger, firing a Full Metal Jacket round that connected with its head and made it tumble forward and sprawl face-down like a puppet whose strings had been cut. Not wanting to take a chance that it was still alive and only playing dead, she fired another shot into its head to be absolutely sure that it was dead. Once its head jerked from the shot but otherwise remained motionless, the blonde knew that it was dead.
She searched the cabin and found an old but still serviceable tarp that she could use to drag its body along with. With great effort, the blonde shoved its corpse onto the tarp and bundled up one end, dispelling her rifle and bringing out her pistol in case the zombies came out to play. Diana then began dragging the dead goblin behind her while certain that this kill would prove to the mage that she was a huntress worthy of the name. After several tense minutes of walking she left the cabin behind without encountering a single zombie or other undead menace. She put away her pistol and dragged the tap with both hands to make better time... she wondered what the challenger would have to say once Diana brought him indisputable proof of the kill.
